Ong Min Zhun is a student who comes to class and does his best to gather as much information as he can and is willing to help and collaborate with others. He utilizes his time wisely in class and understands the importance of time management. He is always on time and present. He is someone who advocates for himself and others. He is always prepared for class and be resilient in his quest for learning as much as possible instead of just securing the correct answer. He is a student who understands the relevance to the purpose of learning new information and making it connect to his lives.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE

Dear Parents and Guardians, greetings from Rafflesia. I hope everybody is staying safe at home or at work.

It has been a week since all our students came back to school. It is good to have everyone back in school to continue learning together with their friends and teachers.

Students and teachers have to catch up with their learning and prepare them for the next assessment: Midyear Examination, 2021.

The first day of Ramadan or fasting month of the muslims fall on the 13th of April and to those who are celebrating the fasting month, we wish you a very Happy Ramadan Mubarak. May this Ramadan bring you good health, joy, happiness and wealth.

Moral Education : Family Tradition

Family traditions are experiences or activities that are passed down between generations. These traditions can be as unique and special as the family itself. In addition to being something to look forward to, traditions also establish a foundation for family values and serve as special bonding experiences.

Form 3 students did research on their own family tradition and presented it as their Mora Project. The objective of this activity is to ensure students are aware of their own customs and traditions.

Challenge Based Learning (CBL) is a framework designed to improve learning and organizational behavior around authentic learning experiences that encourage learners to leverage the technology they use in their daily lives. Through the CBL process, students learn skills and ways of thinking that will support them as learners throughout their lives. CBL framework in a way integrates 21st century skills in instruction, and supports the realization of the full potential of technology in learning.

This year is the first year that Rafflesia offers such activity to students. The framework encourages students to participate in finding solutions to current issues or challenges that are happening in their own communities or at a global level. Students will be required to use sustainable development goals as their Big Idea and relate it to the current issues that they like to research and find solution.

Exciting Learning Tools : Science Experiment

Experiment plays many roles in science. One of its important roles is to test theories and to provide the basis for scientific knowledge. It can also call for a new theory, either by showing that an accepted theory is incorrect, or by exhibiting a new phenomenon that is in need of explanation.

At Rafflesia, learning by doing experiments is an important phase of learning. Students are given a fair chance to discover their own learning during this scientific process .

Form 5 Science Experiment Flower Dissection

Dissection of flower allows students to learn in details about the plant reproductive system. Identification of the female and male reproductive structures was done carefully on a dissected flower. The experiment give students the opportunity to learn and identify various structures which supports the reproductive system. Microscopic analysis was also done on pollen grain structure.

Form 5 Science Experiment Distillation Process Form 5 students carried

out experiment on the process of fermentation in the lab which produced ethanol (alcohol).

They mixed yeast with sugar water and allowed this mixture to ferment for a week. After a week pure ethanol was extracted using distillation method.

Every student learns differently, learning styles are widely recognized in both classroom management theory and education theory in general. Technically, an individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the student absorbs, processes, comprehends and retains information. Learning styles of students depend on several factors, including their environment and other cognitive and emotional factors.

FROM THE HEALTH CENTRE

Cold & Flu Symptoms Influenza (Flu) and

COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses but they are caused by different viruses. COVID-19 is caused by infection with a new coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2), and flu is caused by infection with influenza viruses.

Because some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, it may be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone, and testing may be needed to help confirm a diagnosis. If you have any of these symptoms, stay home and rest.
