19. STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Education and Career: I started my working life as a production planning and
controlling supervisor at T & K Autoparts Sdn. Bhd. which is a subsidiary of UMW Toyota
Malaysia after obtaining a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and minoring in Accountancy at the
International Islamic University, Malaysia in 1996. In 1997, I joined INPENS College as a
lecturer. I later worked as a lecturer at Universiti Selangor (UNISEL). I registered as
UNISEL PhD Student in July 2015 and presented my VIVA-VOCE in October 2017. I was
awarded a PhD in Management, specialising in Supply Chain Management (Halal Food
Industry) from UNISEL in 2018. I have been working as an academic with UNISEL since
April 2007. I am focused and very much dedicated to imparting knowledge to students from
different backgrounds of country and society, and in the pursuit of excellence in research
and publication.
Teaching and Student Development: Over the past 23 years, I have taught more
than 20 different undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In my class, a significant
percentage of grading is given to project paper that immerses students in evaluating and
synthesising information sources to enhance critical thinking. A case study is one of the
approaches used in class, which allows me to conduct a problem-based teaching and learning
approach. Through my teaching, I expose students to real industry environment experiences
by involving them in various activities such as organising research symposium.
Supervision: Student supervision is another active area that I am involved in. Currently, I
am supervising 20 active students including 18 PhD students and 2 Master of Management
