About the Bootcamp
Under the aegis of SSIP, GEC, Valsad & DEO, Valsad decided to outreach school students of Valsad District and to make them aware about an opportunity available under SSIP policy. It is the first of its kind of an event organized with 5 modules to be delivered online from GEC, Valsad
Planning of Bootcamp
GEC Valsad is pursuing with the best possible efforts to outreach the school students.
In the recent past, the boot camp was arranged at GECV Campus on 6th March, 2020
& there was an immense response were received from school students & teachers
when explained about SSIP. In order to take this inspiration further, 14 Hours Boot
Camp digital course was design by the SSIP cell of the institute for the schools of the
Valsad district. All major schools of Valsad city & district were invited by individual
letter send jointly by GEC Valsad & DEO Valsad for the maximum participation. Seven
days Boot Camp schedule was made available prior to beginning of the course and
registration started online on institute portal. Registered participants were informed
through SMS gateway prior to the session and separate instruction was also passed
from DEO office to take maximum benefit of the course.
Objectives of the Boot camp: Objectives are
• To make students aware about the support available under SSIP
• To inspire students for creative and innovation thinking
• Showcasing best practicing for students’ start-ups
• To connect students with innovation incubation centre of GEC, Valsad
• To make students engaged with creative thinking in this pandemic period
In order to develop culture of innovation at a
grass root level and make students familiar
with various terms related to student start-up
and innovation, SSIP cell Government
Engineering College Valsad planned 07 online
session series covering various aspects write
from the beginning idea to market and
concepts of Entrepreneurship and design
engineering for school students of standard 6th to 12th.Being SSIP Coordinator I am thankful
to all my team members of SSIP and respected principal sir from planning to brilliant execution
of sessions. Being SSIP coordinator I take the leadership and deliver first session on 02.06.20
on “Development of Creativity and Innovation culture for School students and teachers”.
Innovation in education encourages teachers and students to explore research and use all the
tools to uncover something new. It involves a different way of looking at problems and solving
them. The thinking process that goes into it will help students develop their creativity and
their problem-solving skills. Innovation improves education because it compels students to
use a higher level of thinking to solve problems. In my first session the difference between
invention, innovation and creativity was well explained with examples.

For the formal inaugural function of the
Bootcamp, DEO Valsad and some school
principals were invited.
Keynote address by Dr. V. S. Purani
Our Principal, Dr. V. S. Purani explained the
objectives of the SSIP as well as Bootcamp. He
also inspired them by sharing with them the
information about the SSIP fund received by
the institute and the process involved in the

Online Session: 1 on 02nd June 2020 Development of Creativity and Innovation Culture in school students and teachers by
Dr. K. L. Mokariya
Being SSIP coordinator I take the leadership and
deliver my second session on 03.06.20 on
“Introduction to state SSIP policy and schemes
for IPR and startups”. The session begin with
introduction to state SSIP(Student start up
innovation policy).To inculcate culture of
innovation amongst the students and to
provide a conducive environment for optimum
harnessing of their creative pursuit, The Education Department, Government of Gujarat has
issued Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) in year 2017.Problem of unemployment
can also be addressed by developing culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at
grassroots and create opportunity from them. In this session the role of state government,
Education department Government of Gujarat and SSIP iHub Gujarat was explained for efforts
made in IPR, SOIC, Smart Gujarat Hackathon, SSIP Prashansha, Start-up etc. All the basic terms
of preincubation, incubation, Incubator, Atal innovation mission brief, startup India yatra,
Accelerators, Angle Investors, capitalist, seed fund, Proof of concept, Minimum viable
product, prototype stage, start-up etc. were explained.
In order to achieve the objectives of the goals
of the boot camp, out of seven sessions, 3rd
session was specially allocated to explore the
facilities and activities of the event hosting
institute as incubation center. The 3rd session
was entitled “Facilities an activity at
incubation center GEC, Valsad”. The key
aspect of the 3rd session was to brief the
participants about the presently carried out activities at GEC, Valsad to promote the start-ups
and innovations through sensitization. The facilities developed using the grant of the SSIP fund
were also showcased through the session. Participants were briefed regarding the
opportunity for the utilization of the existing developed incubation laboratories at the
institute.

Online Session: 3 on 04th June 2020 Facilities and Activities of Incubation center G.E.C Valsad by
Prof. R. C. Malan
In order to develop a grassroots level culture
and promote student’s startup and innovation
policy (SSIP) among the school children and
teachers we have arranged two specific
sessions for them first was on “Innovation and
Students Startup-Possibilities and
Opportunities for School Students”. During this
session we gave the understanding from the
basic terminology like: Innovation, startup, difference between invention and innovation with
examples. We tried to cover fundamentals of startups with examples. To enhance better
motivation among the students and teachers we discussed different areas of day to day life
where the potential startup possibilities are observed. We gave various examples on different
topics where school students and children can give their better contribution viz: Sustainable
Agricultural Practices, Cleanliness and Health, Resource Management, Industrial
Development, Future Transport and Communication and Educational Games and
Mathematical modeling.
The awareness regarding any programme and
policy launched by Government significantly
affects its degree of success. It is the time now to
look beyond the conventional definition of right
to education. The era has come where education
is not limited to only the predefined curriculum.
Government has also taken measure to make
the education system dynamic by launching
various programmes and policies. The 5th session of the bootcamp was totally oriented about
such programmes and policies. In this session the Atal innovation mission and its initiatives
were covered. As the participants are mainly being from schooling education, the Atal
Tinkering Lab was the focus of the session. The eligibility criteria, procedure of application
and scrutiny etc. were explained in details. The second half of the session was regarding the
Inspire Award: Manak.

Online Session: 5 on 06th June 2020 Atal Innovation Yojna and various important schemes for school students by
Prof. R. C. Malan
Bootcamp is organized to enhance the flavor of
innovation into school students under the
banner of SSIP. Bootcamp had covered large
aspect of importance of SSIP policy to
implementation. Out of 7th session, the 6th
session which was “Demonstrating various
Design canvas including Business Model Canvas
(BMC)”.
Our country has lots of big challenges, so any small innovative idea can help to established
correlation with country challenges. Any idea without draft was not acceptable in the field of
innovation. The session was fully focused on how to build ideas and explore the idea with
respect to environment, techno economically feasibility and development of product. The
design thinking process was covered in two phases, first one finds the problems and second
was find the solutions. Further, the session was followed for the development and
preparation techniques various canvas like empathy canvas, mind mapping canvas, AEIOU
canvas and prototype canvas to establish innovative idea to development of prototype.
Further it extended to understand business development though BMC canvas.
The second session was on the topic
“Entrepreneurship development culture and
knowledge impartment at the school level”. I
this session as per our aim of the book camp we
wanted to make the students and teachers
aware about the need of entrepreneurship for
our nation and possible ways of
entrepreneurship culture development at
school level. So, with examples of well-known Entrepreneurs of our nation we tried to
motivate the participants and conveyed them the objectives of the boot camp 2020. We put
our subject with basics of entrepreneurship development like what is entrepreneurship and
explained them the difference between enterprise education and entrepreneurship
education.
