COVID-19 has hit mankind as a catastrophe. When even the developed countries like US andItaly which have advanced medical infrastructure are dealing with the onslaught of this virus,in India we are grossly unprepared, As the corona virus pandemic spreads its wings, the biggestchallenge before those dealing with it is to prevent a situaon where the number of paentsrequiring crical care far outstrip the healthcare infrastructure available right now in thecountry. Also the most affected are the children below 10 years and the elderly above the ageof 60. While the Indian Council for Medical Research, the country's apex body in this field, predicts that India may need thousands of venlators if the corona virus scenario worsens, experts say the number may run into several Millions specifically the Children and Elderly.Considering the phenomenal requirement of venlators in developed naons such as Italy, Indiawould need 80-100 mes the available number of venlators to prepare for a worst casescenario. There are around 40,000 venlators currently in the country; India needs to preparefor 200,000 considering the worst case scenario, based on an average stay of 21 days for acorona virus paent on venlator, as against an average paent's stay of two days.

The objecve of this project is to provide High End Venlator to charitableKasturba Hospital in Valsad District so that they can have Venlator for crical paents. TheHigh End Venlator is capable to serve Neonatal-Paediatric-Adult paents (All 3 in 1)Venlator.

The Kasturba Hospital, a Trust Hospital with lowest charges in enre District is located in Valsadwhich is a District Headquarter with mostly economically background populaon. The Hospitalis being operated by qualified Doctors, technicians and supported by trained nurses. Further, the hospital would provide the Venlator to the crical care paents for other secon of thesociety at a very subsidized rate.

The proposed project of 1 High end Neonatal-Paediatric-Adult paents (All 3 in 1) from Bellavista Venlator Machine , 1 Adult Venlator Machine from Vella,1 High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy Machine Airvo-2 which will be new machines implemented by Rotary Club of Valsad in the hospital which is intheir vicinity who have the basic infrastructure required for the centre and hospitals would beresponsible for the day to day running of the centre (including doctors, nurses and othermanpower) and adhering to the laws and regulaons of the government.

The total cost of project - Rs.38,65,960 (US$ 51547)

MILESTONES OF ROTARY

DID YOU KNOW!?

MY ROTARY EXPERIENCE

THE 4-WAY TEST - One of the most widely printedand quoted statements of business ethics in the world is the Rotary "4-Way Test". It was createdby Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932 when he was asked to take charge of the Chicago basedClub Aluminum Company, which was facing bankruptcy. Taylor looked for a way to save thestruggling company mired in depression-caused financial difficules. He drew up a 24-word codeof ethics for all employees to follow in their business and professional lives. The 4-Way Testbecame the guide for sales, producon, adversing and all relaons with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company was credited to this simple philosophy. Herb Taylor becamepresident of Rotary Internaonal during 1954-55. The 4-Way Test was adopted by Rotary in1943 and has been translated into more than 100 languages and published in thousands ofways. The message should be known and followed by all Rotarians."Of the things we think, say or do:1. Is it the TRUTH?2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

RTN. DR. ANKITA MARJADIHi! friends,It's been three years now since I became a Rotarian and I can say that ithas been a wonderful experience. After joining Rotary, I came to know thedifferent avenues of work done by Rotarians. How a pack of note books,a raincoat, packet of food and sweets can bring such a beautiful smile onthe faces of children. I am humbled to be a part of few projects myselfnamely Menstrual Hygiene & Good Touch Bad Touch. These subjectslook of very less importance for social work but if we go into depth, we willrealise how important these subjects are for the better health & safety ofthe girls & women, and we as Rotarians are trying to make a difference inthe betterment of society as a whole. Everyday we hear news of rape, molestation & exploitation, making the children aware about it and raise voice against it is thework that Rotary is doing. Synonymous with philanthropy since more than 100+ years now.It is one such organization which lives up to its commitments to bring a difference in the society. Its been a privilege to be a part of Rotary. There have been so many projects which are takenas per the current situation. Sanitization and Hygiene, Food, etc. the need of the hour & Rotaryhas been actively making sure to provide for that. Its been a very fruitful experience.I acknowledge the hard work and resources put in by the Rotarians who work with dedicationand commitment to make this happen.
