Executive Summary

Introduction:

Venutai Chavan College, Karad is established on 1st May 1971 by Shri Shivaji Education Society, Karad’sBoard for Higher Education to cater education to the students coming from mofussil areas of Karad, Patan,Kadegaon, Khatav and Koregaon tehsils. Shri Shivaji Education Society is established by a great visionary firstChief Minister and an architect of modern Maharashtra and former Deputy Prime Minister of India late Hon.Yashwantraoji Chavan in the year 1945 with a motto AA ts dk jatys xkatys A R;kalh d:;k vkiqys AA means “Beone with the downtrodden and underprivileged”. It is highly committed to the social upliftment of massesthrough spreading quantitative education among the suppressed and deprived section of the society. At presentShri Shivaji Education Society runs 06 high schools, 03 Junior and 02 Senior Colleges.

Hon. P.D. Patilsaheb worked as Chairman and Chief Patron of Shri Shivaji Eduaction Society, Karad’s Board forHigher Education up to 17 Sept., 2008. He played a pivotal role to the overall progress and development of theKarad by working as the President of Karad Municipal Council for forty three consecutive years. Hence, he wascalled the sculptor of Karad. He is the founder of Sahyadri Cooperative Sugar factory, Yashwantnagar andAdarniya P. D. Patil Sahakari Bank Ltd., Karad.

At present Hon. Shri Balasaheb alias Shamarao Patil, Minister of Cooperation and Marketing, Government ofMaharashtra is working as Chairman and Chief Patron of the society. Hon. Shri Prakash Patil is working as aGeneral Secretary, Board for Higher Education, Karad.

The college has a permanent affiliation of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college has been included in the listof the colleges under Section 2(f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act, 1956. The college offers 03 UG programmes B.A.,B. Com., B.B.A. and 03 P.G. Programmes M.A. (Marathi), M.com. and M. Phil. (English) of Shivaji University,Kolhapur. Apart from this, it also runs several Certificate and Diploma Courses for the personality developmentof the students.

Criteria wise Summary

Curricular Aspects :

The college operates as UG and PG level having B.A., B.Com. B.B.A., M.A.M.Com. And M.Phil.programs with 10 departments, and 5 skill development certificate courses considering the global, national andlocal needs. As the college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur it follows the University designedcurriculum. Some of the teachers participate as members of various bodies of the University and Autonomouscolleges such as BOS and contribute in the curriculum development of the concerned University andAutonomous College. The college provides an academic flexibility at the elective course level.

In the beginning of the academic year, an action plan is prepared by IQAC. Separate time tables forArts, Commerce and other programs are prepared. In tune with the changes of syllabus made by the University,the college procures required number of books in the Central Library. The departments organized variousactivities like preparation of wallpapers, organizing guest/invited lecturers, student exchange, faculty exchangeetc. Along with lecture method faculty make use of seminars, group discussions to keep the students abreast withcross cutting issues by relating them to their respective subjects. Issues like gender equality, environmentconsciousness, and economic, political and social issues are effectively treated. In Feb., 2015 National LevelConference on Creative Ways of Teaching Language and Literature and National Conference on Doha inMediaeval Hindi Poetry were organized in the Institute. One Day Workshops on Revised Syllabus wareorganized by the Departments of Sanskrit & Physical Education in August 2018.

The Heads of the Departments in departmental meetings assign every faculty member a particularsyllabus of the curriculum for teaching. Teachers frame teaching plans according to the given framework oftime, and proceed for the implementation of curriculum accordingly. At the end of each academic session, thestudents have to appear for semester examinations. The college also follows the continuous internal evaluation(CIE) system. The College seeks feedback from student’s alumni and parents. It is taken manually and analyzed.

Teaching-learning and Evaluation :

Our College runs three undergraduate and three post-graduate programmes. Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor ofCommerce are granted whereas Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Marathi, Master ofCommerce and M.Phil. in English are run on non-grant basis. There are 33 teaching posts for which 16 teachersare appointed as full-time teachers in the year 2018-19. We have seven Ph.D. teachers who are also guides forM.Phil. and Ph.D. The remaining full time posts were filled by appointing three Clock Hour Basis Teachers forone full-time teacher as instructed by the State Government of Maharashtra.

Admissions to the institution are given on first come first basis. Reservation policy is strictly implemented in theintake of students for the programmes. Our Mentors take care that students do not face any difficulty inachieving their academic goals. Grievances related with examination are solved from time to time by theexamination committee. Teachers make use of Youtube as ICT to explain topics related to syllabi. They alsotake help of What’s App to inform them about the college activities and information related to syllabus.Academic Calendar is prepared at the beginning of the academic year and activities are planned according to it.Average pass percentage of our students in the last five years is 74.96.

Programme and Course outcomes are evaluated by the Principal and also by the Management at the beginning ofeach academic year in the meeting of IQAC and LMC/CDC. Slow learners are identified and given additionalguidance whereas advanced learners are given additional books by the library and are also encouraged to readbooks besides curriculum. We use student centric methods such as experiential learning, participative learningand problem solving methodologies to enhance students’ knowledge. Our students have performed better notonly in academics but also in extracurricular activities.

Research, Innovations and Extension :

The college research committee plays pro-active role in creating an ecosystem for innovations in research.Theefforts are taken by the Research Committee to promote teachers to undertake research in their fields of interest.Apart from doctoral research, 7 full time faculty have been recognized research guide. 22 students are pursuingdoctoral research under this faculty. Four faculty have submitted their minor research projects ,52 researchpapers have been published in various journals and 38 chapters and papers in the books and the conferenceproceeding of National and International Seminars Level. In the last five years indicate the growing researchculture. Committee has created research awareness among the students to undertake projects as well asorganizing seminars, workshops under Lead College Scheme. Plagiarism policy of the college prepared on thebasis of the policy of the Shivaji University.

The college organizes extension activities in the neighborhood community sensitizing students regarding socialissues required for their holistic development like swachha bharat campaining, gender issues, AIDS awareness,motivation for eco-friendly celebration of festivals, blood donation, health checkup camps, rallies on differentsocial issues, voter registration programme, out of school children survey, etc. Collaboration with other colleges has enriched interaction of the institution with society. We have 01 functional MOU of Deparment of Sanskrit.

Infrastructure and Learning Resources :

We have sufficient facilities like classroom, seminar halls, office, staff room, college canteen,playground, library, washrooms, hostel, study room, computer lab, Geography lab, water, cooler etc.

We have central library with over 58224 Books and Journals and it is partially computerized. Bar codesystem is adopted. The library is using MKCLS LIBRERIA software providing with free internet facility with100 mbps and 6 mbps broadband internet connection is provided. It has a reading room for student and teachingand teaching staff separately. Computer lab is available with 100 mbps broadband internet connection.

We have 400 mtrs. Track with 8 lanes playground. We are organizing different matches at differentlevels. On the playground central region has cricket ground, football ground, one disc throw, pit one javelinthrow ground, one shot-put throwing pit ground, two kho-kho ground, Kabaddi grounds, jumping ground etc.

Maintenance of building and infrastructure is monitored by the maintenance and repairers staff. Rampsrailings wheel chairs facilities have been provided for different abled students.

Student Support and Progression :

The Student’s Council of the college was formed as per the guidelines of Maharashtra Public University Act,1994. The meetings of the council were frequently conducted while organizing various programmes. As the1994 act was dissolved, the council existed up to 2014-15. The representation to the students is also given on theacademic and administrative committees. The college avails various types of Government scholarships andfreeships to the students. The college also conducts various capability/skill development programmes on Softskill Course In Interview Skill Development, Spoken English, Planting Seedlings in Wells, CompetitiveExamination, etc. After completion of graduation, most of the students go for PG programmes. The collegesportspersons also participate in sports events at international, national, state interzonal, and zonal levels.

The college has an alumni association which gives significant contribution to the development of the college.Every year alumni meet is conducted in the college campus by the alumni association. Some alumni give theirvaluable help for the department of sports and cultural activities and motivate the students to participate in them.

Governance, Leadership and Management :

Shri Shivaji Education Society, Board for Higher Education is the apex management body of the college. As perthe Motto ‘Be one with the downtrodden and the underprivileged’ the institute has set its goals and mission toimpart higher education to the students from Karad and surrounding rural area. The management is participativeand decentralized and works with democratic view giving operational autonomy to all. It has organizationalstructure Shri Shivaji Education Society -Board for Higher Education-CDC-Principal-IQAC-HOD-Faculty-Administrative staff. A faculty has its representation in CDC and IQAC and thus participates in decision making. Variousacademic and administrative committees are formed for implementation of policies and plans and for the smoothfunctioning in the institute. For the organization of special events various committees are formed. Students alsowork in some of the committees such as NCC, NSS and ICC etc. Management takes review of all activities inperiodic meetings of CDC and IQAC. Faculty is felicitated for achievement. Farewell function is organized forretiring faculty. Students are motivated to participate in extension and cultural activities. Students with specialachievement in sports and culture events are awarded with incentives. Recruitment and promotional policies are as per the rules of UGC, State government and the university.Performance of the faculty is monitored through PBAS and of non-teaching staff through confidential reports. Internal and External audit is conducted every year. Resource mobilization is done through feecollection from students and UGC. IQAC plans, executes and monitors all the activities in the college and guidesto maintain quality culture. Students’ feedback on curriculum is taken. The college has participated in AISHE.IQAC has submitted AQAR regularly. Some activities are organized having collaboration with other Institute.Organization of Lead college activities and Continuous Internal Evaluation are the IQAC initiatives in teachinglearning process.

Institutional Values and Best Practices :

.Daily National Anthem and an occasional assembly is a practice followed . It inculcates nationalism, mentalpeace and awareness about special days and contribution of eminent personalities. We celebrate our FoundationDay on 1st May. Faculty and staff plant saplings on their birth days. Organization of informative lectures,symposia on women empowerment, sexual harassment, environmental protection, human rights, sanitation,health, nutrition and hygiene is done. College organizes health check-up and follow-up for students. Food

festival is organized by Geography Department to promote entrepreneurial skills and culinary skills of students.The NSS unit organizes sustained activities for environmental protection like sanitation drive, plasticeradication, sari bags, eco-friendly celebration of festivals, tree plantation, digging soak pits in adopted villages.The NSS volunteers conduct surveys for local self-governments regarding out-of-school children, tree censusetc. Rallies and orientation programmes on road safety, payment of local taxes, blood donation, save the girlchild, voter awareness are organized among many others. Setting up a solar water heater in the hostel, plastic-bag free campus are green initiatives. Our college students are performing better in NCC, NSS, Sports, CulturalActivities and academics.

As the college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, it follows the University designedcurriculum. The college operates at UG and PG levels keeping in mind our goals and objectives that are tomake students employable through holistic education and skill development.The University prepares anAcademic Calendar that specifies the duration of the semester, the date of commencement and end ofsemesters.

The College ensures effective curriculum delivery through a well-planned and documented process.The IQAC prepares the academic calendar of the college and also the concerned departments prepare theirdepartmental academic calendar prior to the commencement of every academic year. The academic calendarspecifies suitable available dates for significant academic and other activities.

The faculty members are briefed on the academic activities of the college on the first meeting of thecommencement of every academic year. The Head of the departments arrange departmental meetings todistribute and assign the workload. Considering the workload and planning assigned in the departmentalmeetings, the syllabus and its contents are taught as per classes and papers/ courses. Faculty members preparesemester-wise teaching plan for theory and practical at the beginning of every semester.

The time table committee prepares a general time table and HoD of concerned departments preparedepartmental timetables. Teachers conduct classes according to the timetable. Use of ICT is enhanced inteaching learning process. Use of internet, educational CDs, video clips, YouTube videos, movies are made.Some teachers provide study material to the students through their Whatsapp groups.

In addition to the traditional lecture method emphasis is laid on participatory learning. Use of fieldvisits/ study tours, projects, debates, interviews and report writing is made wherever required.

For the upgradation of subject-related knowledge, College organizes seminars, conferences, workshopsand Lead College Activities. These activities provide a platform to the faculty and the students to participateand interact with experts in various fields and enrich and update their subject knowledge.

The Central Library supports faculty with books and journals for better teaching. Similarly, studentstoo avail of books, and schemes like Book-Bank facility and Question Paper Sets. All Departments have theirown departmental library. The College runs 5 Career oriented Courses. Syllabus of Career oriented Course inBanking is designed by our faculty. At the end of every academic year, IQAC collects feedback oncurriculum from students, alumni and parents. It is then analyzed.

Throughout the year Continuous Internal Evaluation is implemented in the College to make theteaching and learning process effective.

As per the objectives and contents in the prescribed curriculum, Group Discussions are conductedamong students to check the expected outcomes of teaching-learning process. After completion of the topicsin the syllabus, Surprise Tests are taken to assess comprehension of the students. Department of languagesorganizes elocution, essay, debate and poetry recitation competitions that helps students to enhance theirlanguage skills.

To assess comprehension and understanding of students Open Book Tests are conducted..Departmentof Sports and Physical Education conducts practical examination for the assessment of physical and mentalfitness of students.Every year Interl-College Cricket Competition is organized. Students are motivated toundertake Projects and through their projects their subject knowledge, its application and skills are evaluated.

Departments of Geography and Political Science undertake field visits and surveys. They providequestionnaires to students and ask to do projects on it. Along with this, Unit Tests are organized twice a yearin the month of August for term I and in the month of February for term II. The Unit Tests focus on syllabusasking students short notes and broad answer type questions. The assessed answer books are returned tostudents.

This process of Continuous Internal Evaluation helps students to excel in University examinations in abetter way.

Internal Assessment is done as per the Schedule stated in the Academic Calendar which is prepared at thebeginning of each academic year. In addition to this Surprise Tests are also conducted and results arediscussed with students in the next lecture. When the topic is over questions are asked based on it and if thestudents are unable to answer them, teacher explains the answer. The assessment of First Year students isgiven to the colleges by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Teachers are given orders for the assessment of theanswer sheets and a hall is given where the assessment takes place. It is seen by the Principal that theassessment is transparent and robust. Unit Tests are conducted and results are discussed with students. Theyare corrected where they made mistakes. The Department of Physical Education has got PracticalExamination as a part of assessment. We have a spacious ground where these practical exams are coducted.External Examiner is appointed and sent by the University to enhance transparency. Third Year, and PostGraduate students have 80:20 pattern where they have to face two semesters of 40 marks. For 20 marks, theyare asked to prepare Seminars, Projects, Book Review, Travelogue, Critical Review of a book and Studyreports for the completion of the course. It is seen by the Principal that the assessment of all these internalexams and projects remains transparent and no student have any objection related to the marks given.

2.5.2 Mechanism to deal with internal/external examination related grievances is transparent, time- boundand efficient

Answer:

Examination related grievances are dealt with according to the University rules and regulations. The entireprocess, therefore is, transparent ,efficient and done within a stipulated time.

Examinees can apply for verification of marks and revaluation of not more than two answer-books if theywant to challenge the original assessment within a period of fifteen days from the date of declaration of theresult. On receipt of the duly filled in application form signed by the examinee for the photocopy of thedesired answer book/s (of theory examinations only), along with a justification for revaluation and payment ofthe prescribed fee to the cocerned authority, the examinee receives a photocopy of his/her assessed answer-book/s. If the examinee finds any error in the assessment like incorrect totaling or unassessed portion of theanswer book, he/she can appeal for the rectification of these errors within seven days from the receipt of thephotocopy in the prescribed form.However, if the examinee is not satisfied with the marks awarded to him/herby the original examiner he/she can apply for redressal of grievances to the Controller of Examination, ShivajiUniversity, Kolhapur in the prescribed form, challenging the valuation done within seven days from the dateof receipt of the photocopy of the assessed answer-book. The DBOE office of the University does the needfulaccording to the norms of the University. Regarding Continuous Internal Evaluation, the mechanism followedis quite transparent and efficient though the results in these exams have no bearing on students’ final grades.Care is taken to explain the doubts raised by the examinee regarding the evaluation. Suggestions are given forimprovement.

Results are declared by the University and students come to know their marks throughtheir marksheets. Each teacher has to prepare Result Analysis of the Papers he taught that year. That analysisis given to the Principal at the beginning of the Academic Year. Principal disucusses these results in themeetings of IQAC and CDC with the management and IQAC Coordinator. If the results of some teachers arevery positive, they are called by the Principal the next day and congratulated. The College Research Committee plays pro-active role in creating on ecosystem for innovations inresearch. The College Research Committee monitors the progress of research undertaken by conserneedfaculty. It takes efforts and encourages to cultivate scientific temper, research culture and aptitude among thefaculty as well as the students. The College initiates the faculty to update their knowledge by helping them topursue higher studies and undertake various research activities. The faculty is motivated to enroll for M.Phil.,Ph.D., send proposals for major/minor research projects, to publish research papers in reputed researchjournals. The proposal of major/minor research projects are discussed at departmental level as well asreviewed by the committee before submission to the respective funding agency.

The financial assistance and duty leave is given to the faculty attending workshops, seminars,conferences at university, state, national and international level. The faculty is also motivated to presentresearch papers in the conferences organized by colleges and universities. The Ph.D. holder faculty isencouraged to accept research guideship.

The college also takes efforts to create research awareness among the students. Various researchactivities are organized in the college to inculcate research culture and increase research aptitude among thestudents. The research activities undertaken by the students are monitored by the respective faculty. Thestudents are motivated and helped to participate in the research activity like “Avishkar” organized byuniversity. Students prepare research articles, posters to present in Avishkar. Subject related Associations ofthe college are also guided to write articles on current trends and issues. These articles are published in thecollege magazine “Sangam”. The college participates in the Magazine competition organized by the affiliatinguniversity. Every year students receive prizes for their research articles.

All the departments of Arts and Commerce guide the students to prepare projects based on thesyllabus prescribed for final year of the degree. Classrooms: We have 32 classrooms, a Laboratory, a Seminar hall, 2 Classrooms with LCD facilitiesand 2 seminar hall with ICT facilities. Classrooms are cleaned. Colouring is done as and when required.College Building is used both for Venutai Chavan College, & Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science so theentire building being utilised from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm. We provide class rooms for various examinationsconducted by Maharashtra Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission , Local banking , NCC,Government of Maharashtra.

Laboratory: Geography Laboratory is kept hygienic and sterilized. When instruments are not in usethey are kept in cupboard and in classroom. We purchase equipment as per the need. Upgradation of electricwiring with suitable cables contributed to the smooth and safe supply of power. Geography Laboratory hasvarious instruments such as Thermograph, Barograph, Windvane, Rainguage, GIS etc. Also this laboratoryhas Whether Maps, Toposheets, Polytical and Physical Mpas, outlines of World, India and maharashtra amdhas a set of Minarals and Rock types.

Our college has excellent sports facilities to cater to the needs of outdoor sports. There is a big playground where District, University, State and different Associations sports events like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Soft ball, Cricket, Volley ball, Hand ball and Athletics are being organised. Students are guided byconcerned faculty regarding their sports. Students are encouraged to participate in zonal and inter-zonalsports. Annual sports meets are regularly organized in the college. Physical Education is a compulsorysubject at part I at Arts & Commerce Faculty. It includes a practical component involving, various physicalexercises, Kho-Kho, Kabbaddi, Sit-ups, Push-ups, etc. along with running, shot-put, long jump etc. Studentscan avail the benefit of 10 marks under the ordinance of Shivaji University for passing. Sports:- We have 400 mtrs. track with 8 lanes. In this playground 3 Kabaddi , 2 Volly ball & Football courts,1 Disc throw sector, Javeline throw sector, Shot put sector etc. We have 2 Kho-Kho grounds, Jumpingpits, Hammer Throw. We have also adjustable soft ball, High Jump & cricket grounds. Playground ismaintained properly. We allow other colleges, educational institutions, Divyang Students Schools,departments of government like MSEB, PWD etc. to use playground freely.

Cultural Activities:- For Cultural activities we have open stage, Kalaranjan Sabhagrah and Hon. P.D.Patilsaheb Sabhagrah. Care is taken to promote skills of students by organizing various cultural activities inthe college. The cultural activities include programmes and competitions of mimes, street plays etc.Competitions of rangoli, mehandi, elocution, traditional day etc. are also organized. Before the new Maharashtra Public University Act (2016) came into existence, the Students Council wasrepresented by the students who stood first in the respective classes. The college also appointed Sports, NCC,NSS and Cultural representative on this council. In the meeting with the Principal, faculty in charge ofstudents council and the students representatives, the General Secretary was elected. Those elections tookplace according to the schedule of the University every year. As the election could not take place in 2016-17,the college constituted a students council on the basis of previous guidelines under the provisions of theMaharashtra Public Universities Act. 1994.

The general secretary of the college has representation on the IQAC. This helps in the development ofleadership qualities in them. The students representatives on the Students Council involve other students inthe organization of various events and activities of the college.

Students play an important role by volunteering, registration, certificate writing, hospitality, compering atvarious seminars, conferences, programmes etc. They help in analysing feedback, result analysis, analysis ofhealth check-up forms, etc. They help in the organization of food festival, annual sports meet, cleanlinessdrives, rallies, awareness programmes, street plays, conducting surveys for local self-bodies, distribution ofbags made of sarees, eco-friendly celebration of festivals, etc. They also participate in activities to createawareness among the students about cashless transactions. The institution observes participative governance system, team work, strategic planning, decision making andeffective implementation in its academic and extension activities. The participative management system isdecentralized at Management level, Principal level, Faculty level and Student level, delegating authority to itsstake holders and providing operational autonomy to all of them.Principal is the member secretary of CDCand chairperson of IQAC. College has various administrative and academic committees including Gymkhanacommittees to organize academic and extension activities. At the beginning of every academic year in themonth of June committees are formed and responsibilities are shouldered to the faculty as per theirprofessional ability and inclination. A case study of participative management and decentralization of responsibilities is given through the workdistribution of National Service Scheme (NSS) committee. At the beginning of the academic year NSSCommittee that include teaching and non-teaching faculty is formed. Student registration and annual planningof the activities is done in the month of June and July. Two types of activities are planned –Manual labourdonation and lectures by experts- that inculcate moral values and social work awareness among students. NSSconducts a residential camp of 7 days every year in Karad Taluka. NSS committee in consultation with thePrincipal and the management fixes the village for the residential camp. Then committee visits theGrampanchayat members and officials of the selected village to plan the work to be completed in the camp.As per the need of the village work and guidelines of Shivaji University work is planned. Committee alsoobserves facilities available for volunteers to live there and also care for their safety and security. A lady stafffaculty accompanies girl-student volunteers.Programmes in the camp are organized by the students. Alongwith the dignity of labour, students intellectual development is focused during the camp. Expenses of all theactivities are planned as per the funds received by the Shivaji University for the Camp and regular activities.All the stake holders, management, teaching, Non-teaching faculty, students contribute for the successful andeffective functioning of the NSS committee.

6.3.5 Institutions Performance Appraisal System for teaching and non-teaching staff

The institution has separate performance appraisal system for teaching and non-teaching faculty. For teachingfaculty the institution follows the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) as per the guidelines laiddown by the UGC. At the end of the academic year faculty members submit the performance based appraisalforms to the IQAC. After that API verification committee ( that consists of Principal, IQAC coordinator andone Senior Faculty) assess and calculate the PBAS forms on the basis of supporting documents enclosedalong with the form. The evaluation and assessment of the form is discussed with the faculty and forms aregiven back to them with the score. For non-teaching staff the institution has confidential reports to assess theirperformance. The appraisal of performance helps the institution to assign responsibilities to the faculty aswell as to motivate them.

The institution conducts financial internal and external audit regularly. Internal audit is conducted by a firmM/S P. L. Kulkarni Karad appointed by the institution. SSSS & Associates, Chartered Accountant Mr. ShirishGodbole does external auditing. Apart from this salary and non-salary auditing is done by Joint director,Kolhapur Division, Kolhapur. Accounts Officer, Higher Education Grant, Kolhapur Division, Kolhapur alsodoes auditing. Accounts General (AG) Government of Maharashtra does auditing on the part of government.Internal and external audits of last five years have been completed.

Joint Director Audit has been conducted on 31st May 2009.

The audit by the Auditor General, Mumbai had conducted on 24 to 26 Nov. 2011 for the period 1/4/2003 to31/03/2010.

Objections raised in the Internal and External audit are cleared in time and mostly on the spot. There werethree audit objections in the AG audit and all the three objections have been cleared by the institution.

6.4.3 Institutional strategies for mobilisation of funds and the optimal utilisation of resources

The institution prepares its annual budget every year as per the needs and requirement of the college andconsidering the various available sources. The sources of receiving funds are the government agency such asthe UGC, through fee collection from students, and the Management provides funds for the maintenance anddevelopment of the infrastructure and for facilities on the Campus. Seminar, workshop, conference areorganised seeking financial support from the UGC and Lead college scheme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur.Utilisation of funds is observed and priority is given to transparency. For transparent financial transactions arecarried out by inviting quotations, payments are done through cheques. Purchase bills are verified andmaintained. The internal and external audit is conducted regularly. Mobilisation of resources and its utilisationis done properly. Two unit test are conducted for eachsemester. Apart from this faculty conducts surprise test, open book test, group discussion, revision ofquestions in the class as per the need of the students as a part of evaluation. Our Institute has always shown awareness about human values and professional ethics and has taken efforts toinculcate them through various activities. The college plays national anthem at 7.30 am daily. Occasionally after the prayer teaching faculty, non teaching staff and students assemble to celebrate specialdays, birth and death anniversaries of eminent personalities and events of national, international, social andcultural significance. Celebration and observance of special days help to inculcate these values in the students.Students and faculty give short speeches. Students prepare wall papers on the topics relavant to the occasion.The faculty, non-teaching staff and students are made aware of professional ethics.

To make campus studious. To enrich greenery by tree plantation.Context: Green campus begins with entry gate. The play ground is at the right side and road towards. College buildingis full with beautiful green plants. Our campus has small beautiful garden which has palm trees, roses,coconut trees, teak woods which maintain atmosphere very fresh and happy. There are small gardens at theback, front and also beside the library and hostel. Secure parking facility is available for two and four wheelerparking. Students are advised to use public transport.

The practice: Our 607 students used public transport during 2018-2019. They come to college from various nearby villages. The travelling distance of the studentsis approximately 22884 km per month. Use of public transport helps campus pollution free. We arrange tree plantation programme on various occasions. We provide fertilizers and water for trees in time. We motivate students for using bicycle and avoid use of two wheelers Evidence of success: Campus photos, Documentation of using public transport.

Problem encountered and resources required: In front of college, there is a heavy traffic road and near our college a sugar factory is situated. Because ofthese, pollution is increased and dust spreads. To control pollution and dust, we promote tree plantation andpublic transport. As a result all of this, the pollution is under control and campus is green.

2.Title Celebrating ‘Birth Anniversaries and Death Anniversaries of Great leaders Goals : To convey thoughts and great work of great leaders to students. To inform biographical details of great leaders to inspire students. To encourage students by focusing selected events in the life of great leaders. To cultivate respect and adherence among the students for the great leaders. The Context – Its our tradition to celebrate and commemorate nation builders and social reformers on their birth and deathanniversary. The sole purpose is to convey their thoughts, principles, social and national contribution andworks to the students. We hope that our efforts will develop our students as ideal citizen of India and buildethically strong India. It is essential to make strong integrity in diversity. These celebrations andcommemoration will create a new attitude and new vision to think as citizen of India.
