Preface
Organizations are moving at a faster pace than ever before as a result of developingtechnologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). In thisage of digital transformation, success is determined by the ability to analyze largeamounts of data and extractmeaningful insights from it. For a long time, these insightswere uncovered by hand through in-depth data analytics—but data complexity, aswell as the complexity of data, is increasing all the time. AI and machine learning(ML) are the most recent techniques available to data scientists, allowing them toswiftly modify data in order to verify its usefulness.
The term smart cities first gained popularity in the 1990s, when it was used todescribe how technology and innovation were being used in urban planning anddevelopment. Since then, urbanization has increased dramatically around the world.Almost, 55% of the world’s population is predicted to reside in urban regions by2020. By 2050, this proportion is expected to rise to approximately 70%. This rapidurbanization will place increasing demands on resources while also meeting thegrowing demand for intelligent and sustainable settings, among other things. It isexpected that the demands of citizens for a higher quality of life would increase inthe future.
We are entering a new era of computing technology, which many refer to asthe “Internet of things” (Internet of things) (IoT). The Internet of everything, theInternet of intelligent things, the intelligent system—call it what you want, but itis happening, and its potential is enormous. Machine to machine communication, machine to infrastructure communication, machine to environment communication,Internet of everything communication, Internet of intelligent things communication.
This book contains selected and presented papers from the International Confer-ence on Recent Trends in Machine Learning, IOT, Smart Cities and Applications,2021, which took place at CMR Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, on March28th and 29th. It comprises of carefully chosen manuscripts that have been groupedaccording to their approaches and contributions to the conference’s scope and theme. The algorithms and theories presented in the chapters of this book are at the heartof the technologies and applications covered, which are primarily face recogni-tion, evolutionary algorithms such as genetic algorithms, automotive applications,

automation devices with artificial neural networks, business management systems, the Internet of things, machine learning, data science, and modern speech processingsystems. This book also covers contemporary advancements in medical diagnosticsystems, sensor networks, and VLSI domain systems, among other topics.Wheneverpossible, a discussion of deep learning algorithms’ learning and software modulesis included when appropriate. Briefly stated, the book will provide insights into thetechnological breakthroughs involved in smart cities through the use of IoT andmachine learning.
