PUBLIC NOTICE - DATES OF CLOSING OF THE ROCK LOBSTER FISHERY – MARIA ISLAND ZONE

Rule 11(2) of the Fisheries (Rock Lobster) Rules 2011

Pursuant to the powers under the Fisheries (Rock Lobster) Rules 2011 ("the Rules") that were delegated to the Director (Marine Resources) on 12 November 2018 by the Minister acting pursuant to section 20(1) of the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 ("the Act"), I hereby determine that the part of the rock lobster fishery that comprises of the activities of the taking of rock lobster, diving for rock lobster, the setting of a rock lobster pot or the use of a rock lobster ring in the “Maria Island Zone” is closed from 8 December 2018,where:"Maria Island Zone" is defined to mean the area of State waters adjacent to the east coast of Tasmania bounded in the north by the line of latitude at 42º 11’ South and bounded in the south by the line of latitude at 42º 49’ 00” South, and also including all the waters within Great Oyster Bay north of latitude at 42º 11’ South.
