ASBS Council meeting of 1st February, 1977, the question was raised of the desirability of ASBS producing a"Guide to Graduate Study in Botany s·imtlar to that .. produced.by .. the .. Botarl.ical Society of America' for the. United States and Canada. It was decided that the detail in that ,Guide was mor.e. than is necessary for the Australasian region with its re Tati ve.ly. sma 11 academic ·community .. ( 23 uni vers i ties with Botany . Departments compared with 118 in the USA and Canada). However, Council agreed that a 1 i st of theses· of Honours· ·level and above would be of · '. interest to members, parti cu·l arly- s i nee many of ·these have not been subsequently published and so are·virtually.inaccessible to botanists. This list aims to include all Doctoral and Masters dissertations a·s wen as those Honours theses of parti·cul ar interest an·d merit on· botani ca 1 . taxonomic subjects and related"top·ics·, cytology, a·natomy, produced in Austral asian universities ·at··least in recent years.
