A. Details of Soil quality and slope
Generally, soil types found in Pune district are black, copper, red and paddy soil. Soil
blends of variable proportions are modified by sand, gravel, lime salts and other
ingredients. Soil erosion is acute in these soils because of the sloppy nature of lands
mostly unprotected by natural vegetation due to over grazing.
Samples were collected within a radius of 10 Km in the study area. Soil samples
collected and were analyzed for pH, moisture content, water holding capacity, organic
matter, ammonia nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, Magnesium as Mg, Chlorides as
Cl-, Sulphates as SO4-- using standard methods of Association of Official Agricultural
Chemist. Results of analysis are presented in Annexure-5 Land at the project site is
tableland and has no major slopes.

which is beyond Pollution Control Norms and hazardous to micro – organisms.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The sewage will be first passed through a Bar Screen Chamber & an Oil & Grease Trap where any extraneous / floating matter would be trapped. The sewage would then be collected in a Receiving Sump where the variations in flow and characteristics are dampened, which otherwise can lead to operational problems and moreover it allows a constant flow rate downstream. Here the sewage is kept in mixed condition by means of coarse air bubble diffusion. The equalized sewage will then be pumped to the Fluidized Aerobic Bed (FAB) Reactors where BOD/COD reduction is achieved by virtue of aerobic microbial activities. The FAB reactors would be running in series. The oxygen required will be supplied through coarse air bubble diffusers. The excess bio-solids formed in the biological process will be separated in the downstream Tube Settler Tank. The clear supernatant after disinfection shall be used for landscaping / gardening. The biological sludge generated from the FAB, which is settled in the Tube Settler, will be drained to the Sludge Holding Tank from where it can be sent to press filter to reduce the volume. It is removed periodically for suitable disposal in composting plant.

4. FAUNA
4.1. There likely to be any displacement of fauna- both terrestrial and aquatic or creation of barriers for their movement? Provide the details.
The floristic component of the area does not include any rare or endangered species. Thus, impact on rare and endangered species of flora is nil. There are no potential sources of impacts on terrestrial biological environment during operation phase of proposed project
4.2 Any direct or indirect impacts on the avifauna of the area? Provide details.
Biological Environment:
The project site and the surrounding area have plain land. The whole area will be occupied by vegetation. The plantations, which would be grown in the proposed area, will be helpful in increasing green cover in the area. This would also increase avifauna in the area.
4.3. Prescribe measures such as corridors, fish ladders etc to mitigate adverse impacts on fauna.
The proposed project will not have any adverse impact on the flora or fauna.
5. AIR ENVIRONMENT
5.1. Will the project increase atmospheric concentration of gases & result in heat islands? (Give details of background air quality levels with predicted values based on dispersion models taking into account the increased traffic generation as a result of the proposed constructions)
As this will be a construction project, air pollution is not expected to be a major concern. There will not be notable increase in pollution therefore dispersion model calculations are not done. But the data on Ambient Air Quality have been collected during the study period.
Air quality is represented generally in terms of concentration of Suspended Particulate
Matter, Sulphur Dioxide and Oxides of Nitrogen and Carbon Monoxide, lead and Ammonia. A wide variety of sources contribute SPM in ambient air. Some of them are construction activities, vehicular emissions, industrial process emissions, dust storms etc. In view of the revision of national Ambient Air Quality Standards by Central Pollution Control Board ambient air quality stations were identified and monitored with High Volume Sampling apparatus.
(REFER ANNEXURE 5: AIR QUALITY MONITORING STATIONS)
Form 1 & 1A for Pirangut Project Tal Mulshi
Pune
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------P-31
5.2. What are the impacts on generation of dust, smoke, odorous fumes or other hazardous gases? Give details in relation to all the meteorological parameters.
During construction phase, Suspended Particulate Matter, dust, will be the main
pollutant, which could be generated from site development activities. Concentration
of SO2, NO2 and CO may rise a little due to traffic. Proper upkeep and maintenance of
vehicles, sprinkling of water on roads and construction site and providing sufficient
vegetation all around the plant site are some of the measures that would reduce the
impact during construction phase.
It is generally observed that SPM levels are higher in dry weather i.e. during summer
and winter seasons. Pollutant load of the atmosphere is generally low during monsoon
as the gaseous pollutants tend to dissolve and particulate pollutants get adsorbed
forming aerosols.
Fog formation aggravates the problem as rate of dispersion of pollutants reduces.
High wind velocity is helpful for dispersion of pollutants. Higher temperature and
pressure in the troposphere is helpful for better dispersion of pollutants. In general,
effective dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere depends primarily on the degree
of stability of the atmosphere and on its turbulent structure.
5.3. Will the proposal create shortage of parking space for vehicles? Furnish details of the present level of transport infrastructure and measures proposed for improvement including the traffic management at the entry & exit to the project site.
The proponents will provide a total number of 1135 four-wheelers parking, and 2268 two wheelers
Measures proposed for improvement including traffic management at the entry and exit to the project site are:
Maintaining flow of traffic for approach roads
Entry and Exit points carefully placed so as not to disturb this flow
One way traffic inside the complex for comfortable movement of vehicles and
reduction in possibility of congestion.
There will be one entry and exit gate provided to enter within campus and
vehicles will be park accordingly with the building.

5.4. Provide details of the movement patterns with internal roads, bicycle tracks, pedestrian pathways, footpaths etc., with areas under each category.
About 47362.15 Sqm will be the area under roads. Internal roads created will be more than 6 meter wide will also serve as pedestrian pathways and footpaths.
5.5. Will there be significant increase in traffic noise & vibrations? Give details of the sources and the measures proposed for mitigation of the above.
The proposed activity being of constructionl type will not cause a notable increase in the noise and vibration during operation. However, use of heavy machinery is inevitable during construction phase of the project. Sources of noise Pollution during construction phase are machinery like Earthmoving Machinery Mini Hoist Crane, Hoist Crane, Concrete mini mixer, Weigh batcher, Compressors and transportation materials. Incremental increase in baseline noise levels due to this proposed project will not exceed 55 dB(A). The post project noise levels at the nearest habitation will be less than the stipulated standards of CPCB.
Noise has various adverse effects on workers and their activities. The first and foremost effect of noise on workers exposed to high noise level over a long period of severe impulsive noise of short duration is ‘Loss of Hearing’. This effect is either temporary or permanent in nature depending upon the length and severity of noise exposure. Other effects of noise are such as blood pressure, cardiovascular problems and ulcers. Some studies also point to noise related learning difficulties, reduced work efficiency, irritation, fatigue, increased accidents and errors and socially undesirable behavior.
MITIGATIVE MEASURES:
The project proponents have agreed to take precautions to control noise pollution as mentioned under:
Use of equipment generating noise of not greater than 90 dB (A).
High noise generating construction activities would be carried out only
during daytime. Also, adequate parking space will be provided to avoid
crowding and noise pollution
Installation, use and maintenance of mufflers on equipment.
Workers working near high noise construction machinery would be supplied
with ear muffs/ear plugs.

Dry waste will be sent for recycling and wet waste will be treated by ‘In Vessel Process’ for composting.
A) ‘In vessel process’ is based on the following principles.
Valuable resources must be recovered & reused / recycled.
Biodegradable matter must be composted.
Minimize the material to be disposed off in a landfill.
B) Procedure to be followed
The segregated wet MSW arrives on site.
MSW is screened using vibro sieve.
Manual Segregation is done.
Non-biodegradable matters if any is separated for reuse & recycle.
Valuable resources are offered to rag pickers.
Biodegradable matter undergoes size reduction through a shredder.
Specific Vessels are used in the project.
One vessel can accommodate about 5 MT shredded waste.
Everyday specially developed Microbial inoculant is mixed with shredded
biodegradable matter at the rate of 1 kg/MT. of biodegradable waste.
The bio-degradable matter will remain in the vessel for 10 days (Minimum)
The composting system in the Vessel is maintained aerobic using air supplied by
compressor.
The organic matter in the vessel undergoes rapid decomposition due to the
secretion of enzymes by microbes present in microbial inoculants.
The organic compost is taken out from vessel after 10 days.
The compost shall be used in gardens, lawns & other plants.
C) Benefits of ‘In Vessel Process’
Complete system for treatment & disposal of MSW.

ASSUMPTIONS
1. The plant is designed to operate at max. +/- 10 % variation in raw wastewater parameters.
2. No other parameters other than mentioned above is present in the raw wastewater
which is beyond Pollution Control Norms and hazardous to micro – organisms.
B) Rain Water Harvesting:
Rainwater Harvesting facilities will be created at the project site in the form of
aquifer recharge. However, water requirement for the project will not be met from
groundwater.
EMP for Pirangut Project Tal Mulshi
Pune
P - 4
Such rainwater harvesting system should have two-fold objective:
1) To utilize rain water available on the plot in direct way or indirect
way to reduce the load on water supply system.
2) To minimize the storm water drainage load to avoid water logging
locally as well as on larger scale.
Rain Water Harvesting Details
Total no. of pits for roof water collection is 215.
12900 Cum.
Rainwater utilization:
Avg. Rainfall – 853mm /monsoon.
For soft areas – 144124 x 0.853 = 122938.50 Cum (This percolates directly in to
the ground.)
For hard areas – 120730 x 0.853 = 102982 Cum (Water collection)
Assuming monsoon of 103 days, avg. water collected = 103000/103 =
1000Cum/day.

DURING CONSTRUCTION PHASE:
The project will contribute in higher dust levels during construction phase. The concrete
will be made from outside source of Ready Mix Plant. The debris and unutilized
construction material and earth from the construction site shall be removed immediately
to recycle within the project so that no nuisance dust is generated due to wind.
Construction Activities shall not be allowed at Night.
The site being influenced by winds would result in quick dispersal of the pollutants and
thereby the impacts due to NOx and SO2 emissions during the construction will be
negligible. Therefore, considering all the air pollutants, it is not expected that air
emissions due to construction will exceed air quality standards (NAAQS).
Precautions, which would be taken to reduce dust generation during construction phase,
are mentioned as follows:
Concrete supplied from an outside source involve trucks carrying cement, gravel,
sand traveling to site and may cause dust emission thus ready mix concrete
carried in enclosed container will be used as it is better option compared to on site
batch mixing. The operations shall be carried out in a temporary enclosed shed
and workers shall be provided with protection masks.
Dust covers will be provided on trucks that would be used for transportation of
materials prone to fugitive dust emissions.
EMP for Pirangut Project Tal Mulshi
Pune
P - 6
Water sprinkling on ground and new construction will be done at regular intervals
to avoid dust generation.
Mitigation measures shall include regular maintenance of machinery and
provision of personnel protective equipments to workers where needed.
Proper upkeep and maintenance of vehicles, sprinkling of water on roads and
construction site and providing sufficient vegetation all around the plant site are
some of the measures that would reduce the impact during construction phase.
AFTER COMPLETION
The proposed project will not have any direct impact on air environment after
completion. To ease the traffic congestion project proponent will provide well-
organized parking arrangement.
The vehicles employed by the developers shall be checked for vehicular
emissions. The developers shall also impress upon the service agencies to get
vehicles regularly checked for vehicular emissions.
During operational phase, Two numbers of D.G. Sets will be provided only in
case of power failures for water pumps, fire pumps/fire fighting system, stretcher
lifts, partial lightings in common lobbies/stairs, partial lighting in stilts / podium
access roads etc. DG sets will be complying with CPCB norms for air pollutants.
Emission during construction and operation will be as per the desirable limits of
CPCB standards.
EMP for Pirangut Project Tal Mulshi

2. NOISE POLLUTION CONTROL
CONSTRUCTION PHASE:
During construction phase, sources of noise pollution will be due to operation of
machinery Earthmoving Machinery Mini Hoist Crane, Hoist Crane, Concrete
mini mixer, Weigh batcher etc. as well as transportation vehicles. This will cause
nuisance to the occupants of the nearby area. The project proponents have agreed
to take precautions to control noise pollution as mentioned under
Use of equipment generating noise of not greater than 90 dB (A).
High noise generating construction activities would be carried out only
during daytime.
Installation, use and maintenance of mufflers on equipment.
Workers working near high noise construction machinery would be
supplied with ear muffs/ear plugs.
OPERATION PHASE:
The proposed project being construction, the source of noise is vehicular noise
only. The project proponents have proposed to provide adequate parking
arrangement, which would help in reducing noise levels due to vehicular
movement in the parking area.
The project proponents have proposed a compound wall and rows of trees, which
would act as noise buffer and will reduce the noise level within site.
Canopies will be provided to these mechanical devices to reduce noise and
vibration. There will not be any considerable impact on the ambient air quality
around the project site as CPCB approved DG sets along with acoustic room will
be developed and plantations will be provided.

The project proponents also propose to develop landscape garden by planting
approximately 450 numbers of trees, 31160 Sq. m area will be covered by shrubs.
The Project proponents have proposed a landscape development plan, which
includes planting of flowering and shady trees, shrubs and lawn within the plot.
The open spaces inside the plot will be suitably landscaped and covered with
vegetation of indigenous variety.
6. ENERGY CONSERVATION
Energy conservation measures are often the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to
reduce costs and be environmentally pro-active Energy conservation program will
be implemented through measures taken both on energy demand and supply.
Energy conservation will be one of the focuses during the complex planning and
operation stages. The conservation efforts would consist of the following:
Measures to reduce energy consumption -
Minimize use of air-conditioning so as to use of architectural design.
Maximize the use of natural lighting and ventilation through design.
Purchase of energy efficient appliances (CFL FITTINGS)
Constant monitoring of energy consumption and defining targets for
energy conservation. Energy monitoring will be done with the help of
Energy meters.
Adjusting the settings and illumination levels to ensure minimum energy
used for desired comfort levels. Design based on lux level calculations.
Use of compact fluorescent lamps and low voltage lighting.
Sunscreen films on windows to reduce heating inside the buildings.
Awareness on energy conservation will be raised among the users of the
buildings in the complex.

Maximum priority is given for placement of solar water heaters on top terraces.
The appurtenant spaces where common lighting is required are proposed to use
unconventional energy.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Maximum ground is covered by green patches to reduce reflection of heat
from ground surface.
Shade giving trees are proposed around the condominium especially on
South and west side to cast shadow on the ground and building.
By accommodating maximum parking areas are covered parking, heat
generation due to vehicle is compressed below the building.
Thermal Paint application is proposed for external walls which reduce and
reflect heat. Direct exposure to sun is reduced by proposing double height
terraces and double wall external walls. Adequate sunshades are proposed.
Thermal Characteristics of the building envelope:
a) Terraces will be treated with a layer of brick bat coba for reduction in heat
gain through roof.
b) Overhang projections and horizontal and vertical elevation band of 0.3m
will be provided around the windows which will be reducing solar heat
gain but will assure maximum natural light and ventilation in the buildings.
c) External shading is prominently used in the complex it intercepts solar heat
before it reaches the glass/ wall.
d) External walls are 150 mm with 10 mm plaster on both the sides [cavity
wall], double height terraces are provided to reduce direct exposure to sun.
The external walls of the buildings will be coloured with light slightly
tinted colours to reduce solar heat gain and will reflect heat.
e) friendly acrylic paint.
