ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE YEAR 2018
Dear members.
I am happy to present all the activities undertaken by the Indian Public Health Association during the last calendar
year i.e. 2018

Reports on 62nd IPHACON 2018, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh:-
The 62nd Annual National Conference of Indian Public Health Association was held at King George’s Medical
University (K.G.M.U.), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 9th – 11th February 2018 under the dynamic leadership
of our President Dr. Prabir Kumar Das, Secretary General Dr. Sanghamitra Ghosh, Organising chairman Prof. V.K.
Srivastava and Organizing Secretary Dr. Prof. Uday Mohan, Head, Department of Community Medicine, KGMU
and their wonderful team.
Around 1100 delegates attended the conference. Participation came from various International and National NGO
and Govt sectors. It was a very successful conference.

As proposed by the Committee for 2018-19 Chairperson, Dr C.P. Mishra nominated Dr Kamal Krishna Datta,
Emeritus Professor & Hon. Academic Coordinator for the prestigious I.C. Tiwari Life time Achievement award.
IPHA Website: Online Membership is going on smoothly. Most of the members they are registering through online membership
portal and also updated their personal information change of address by entering through login ID & Password.
IPHA’s functions, activities, program reports and images were uploaded regularly in website which increases
transparency to members Worldwide. Now it is carrying all announcements about conference and all activities of
IPHA and also of related nature. Periodical bulk Emails from google server are sent to all members’ registered
Email ID about branch activities and upcoming events IPHA.
IPHA Bhaban Committee: Bhaban is adequately used by the members for short/week long stay and different programmes, Workshops and
meetings. Annual maintenance of Air Conditioners, testing of Fire Extinguishers & regular Fire audit has been
done. The room/washroom amenities have been repaired.
Dr Surajit Ghosh, Vice President East had a talk with M/s-Deb Enterprises, Proprietor Mr Deb Kumar Mitra
regarding Bhaban original documents, after prolonged discussion & negotiation full and final settlement has been
done by clearing the due payment to the party & Bhaban Original land & building papers has been handover to
Bhaban Committee Chairman at IPHA Bhaban and kept it into IPHA Headquarter Office securely.
IPHA Membership Committee: This year total 229 new candidates were enrolled as IPHA Life member 196 has opted for e-journal and 33 opted
for hard copy of journal.
Indian Journal of Public Health: Report of Editorial Board by Managing Editor
Indian Journal of Public Health: Report of Editorial Board by Managing Editor
Indian Journal of Public Health is a peer reviewed journal where the articles are stringently reviewed by
national and international experts in the field of public health, medicine, ophthalmology, obstetrics,
nutrition, occupational health, pediatrics, dental, environmental health etc. The journal is regularly

publishing special articles related to public health, national health policy and public health management
by nationally acclaimed experts.
Since 2010, Indian Journal of Public Health is being published both online and in print version with
increased visibility, open and free access globally. After being online, citation is also increased.
• Indexing Status:
The journal is currently indexed with, or included in, PubMed, Medline/ Index Medicus, Index
Copernicus, SCOPUS, Scimago journal ranking, Indian Science Abstracts, National Science Library etc.
The journal is registered with the abstracting partners of
Baidu Scholar, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), EBSCO Publishing's Electronic
Databases, Exlibris – Primo Central, Google Scholar, Hinari, Infotrieve, Journal Guide, National Science
Library, OpenJGate, ProQuest, TdNet. Documents H index is 14.
During the year new indexing ensured such as DOAJ (Directory of open access journal) and presently in
the process of indexing in PubMed Central (PMC) directory.
• Submission and Publication:
Submission of articles is being increased over the years; it has increased from 424 in 2017 to 468 in 2018.
All the four issues in 2018 have been published on time. 1st issue of 2019 is also in the process of printing.

• Sponsorship
o Conference issue of 2018 was partly sponsored by organizing committee of National Conference of
IPHA at Lucknow. No other sponsored issues could be published this year, though possibility is being
explored with two/three agencies/organizations.
• Renewal of agreement with Med Know and related issues
o Agreement has been renewed for another term of 2 years. Few clauses have been
incorporated/modified to ensure better control or negotiation in future.
o Journal dispatch system has been changed, rather than ordinary post, journal now being sent through
an identified courier agency.
o Though complaints of non-receipt of journal by many members could not be adequately solved, but
there has been an improvement in response to these complaints by the agency.
• Journal review and management system:
o Peer review process is usually conducted once in a month with available editorial board members and
reviewers at IPHA Bhawan, Kolkata. This has improved the quality of the published articles as well
as quick decision making in article review process.
o Presently we have no pending articles that were submitted in 2017.
• Journal Office Functioning-Since recruitment of the present journal assistant, journal office
functioning has improved.

1. World Oral Health Day
Date : 20th March 2018 at Students
Health Home(SHH), Kolkata
IPHA and Guru Nanak Institute of Dental Sciences &
Research jointly observed “World Oral Health Day”
school level awareness programme in collaboration with
Students Health Home(SHH) Kolkata held on 20th March
2018.
Dr Surajit Ghosh, Vice President East, IPHA , welcome
the delegates and participants and delivered a short
speech on the occasion.
Dr Amitava Bhattacharya, Secretary Students Health
Home graced the occasion with all other staffs of the
institution.
Dr. Santanu Sen Roy, Associate Professor & Dr Puneet
Kaur Faculty Public Health Dentistry, Guru Nanak
Institute of Dental Sciences & Research delivered lecture
on oral health care amongst different school students
attending the programme. A Health checkup camp was
also organized in the same venue and dental kits were
distributed amongst the school students.
At community level on the same day an Awareness
program and Dental checkup camp was organised in
collaboration with Kalitara Mahila Samity at Pagladanga
Topsia Kolkata. More than 150 mother and children were
examined in the camp by the Doctors of Guru Nanak
Dental College. At the end of the program Snacks packets
& Dental kits were distributed among children on that
day.
2. World TB Day
Date: 28th March 2018
Venue: Department of Community
Medicine, Calcutta Medical College and
Hospital
IPHA observed “World TB Day” awareness programme
on Tuberculosis on 28th March 2018 at Department of
Community Medicine, Calcutta Medical College &
Hospital.
Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General, IPHA ,
welcome the delegates and participants and delivered a
short speech on the occasion.
Prof. Ashok Kumar Bhadra, Principal, Calcutta Medical
College& Hospital inaugurated the programme as a Chief
guest.
Prof. Salil Bhattacharya, Prof. & Head , dept. of
community medicine graced the occasion.
Dr Quazi Toufique Ahmed, Medical Consultant-Drug-
Resistant TB, World Health Organization, Kolkata started
with discussion on RNTCP: Recent Updates with proper
demonstration.
Dr Rivu Basu, Assistant professor, RG Kar Medical
College and Hospital delivered speech focusing on multi-
sectoral approach in fight against the disease and
expanding TB services and shared his field research
experience. The programme was successful and was very
much appreciated by the respected dignitaries &
members.

3. World No Tobacco Day

IPHA observed “World No Tobacco Day” awareness
programme on 31st March 2018 at Department of
Community Medicine, RG Kar Medical College &
Hospital.

Rivu Basu, Assistant professor delivered a speech on the
occasion.
4. World Health Day
Dated: 7th April 2018
Venue: BNR Central Hospital, SE
Railway, Garden Reach, Kolkata
IPHA & IRMSA/GRC jointly observed World Health
Day on 7th April at BNR Central Hospital, SE Railway,
Garden Reach, Kolkata.

Department of Community Medicine, College of
Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital delivered speech on
“Addressing inequalities on the road to Health for All”
Dr Dhiresh Choudhury – Director- Banchbo Healing
Touch delivered lecture on “Aging and Universal Health
Coverage- the reality”. The programme was a grand
success and very much appreciated by the respected
dignitaries & members.
5. World Environment Day
Dated: 6th June 2018
Venue: Department of Pharmacology,
RG Kar Medical College & Hospital,
Kolkata
IPHA observed World Environment Day programme on
6th June 2018 at Department of Pharmacology, RG Kar
Medical College & Hospital.
Dr S Batabyal, Principal RGKMCH, Dr Anup Das, Dean
& HOD, Dept. of Pharmacology, Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh,
Secretary General IPHA graced the occasion.
Dr Arunabha Majumder, Emeritus Fellow – School of
Water Resource Engineering, Jadavpur University,
Kolkata delivered his valuable speech on the theme “Beat
Plastic Pollution”.
Panel discussion held on Plastic free Healthy World. Dr
Salil Bhattacharya, Professor, Dept. of Community
Medicine Medical college Hospital, Dr Nabanita
Bhattacharya Professor Community Medicine, National
Medical college, Dr Sandip Sanyal ADME, Swasthya
Bhavan joined as a panelist in the programme. Dr Pritam
Roy. WHO Consultant, Neglected tropical disease joined
the programme as a Moderator.
Dr Anjan Adhikary, Asst. Professor, Pharmacology
anchored the programme in a very organized way. The
programme was a grand success.

6. Update on Neglected Tropical Diseases
Dated: 26.06.2018
Venue: Calcutta National Medical
College
IPHA organized programme on Update on Neglected
Tropical Diseases with technical support of WHO on
26.06.2018 at CNMC. The programme started with CME
registration.
Accreditation of CME hours 4 credit hours were
approved by West Bengal Medical Council. More than
100 delegates were registered from different medical
colleges.
Prof. Debasis Bhattacharya, DME West Bengal delivered
lecture on Medical Ethics.
Prof. Tamalkanti Ghosh, SplSecy, GoWB has delivered
speech on public health importance of Dengue Serology.
Dr Tapan Mukherjee, Chief Advisor, Health, KMC & Dr
Sanjib Bandyopadhyay, Asst. Prof.. Community
Medicine, CNMC & ADME, WB delivered lecture on
Role of community participation in Management of
vector borne disease.
Prof. Bibhuti Saha, HOD, Tropical Medicines, STM
Kolkata & Prof. Sibarjun Ghosh, HOD, Paediatrics,
Medical College, Kolkata delivered speech on Dengue
Management guidelines.
The programme continued with many more CME
sessions, interactive quiz was held after every session.
The programme was a grand success and very much
appreciated by dignitaries & members.

Independence Day
15th August
Venue: IPHA Bhaban, Salt-lake
IPHA observed Independence day at IPHA Bhaban
premises. National Flag was hoisted by Dr Sanghamitra
Ghosh, Secretary General in presence of Dr. Surajit
Ghosh, Vice President East, Dr Dilip Kumar Das, Editor
and few members of the Association & staffs were also
present. National Anthem was sung and sweets were
distributed.
8.
World Breastfeeding Week
1st-7th August
IPHA observed WBW “Foundation of Life” week long
programme in different medical colleges and institutions
in befitting manner from 1st August – 7th August.
Inauguration programme was held at BR Singh Medical
College & Hospital, Sealdah on 1st August.
Dr Gautam Dasgupta, Medical Director graced the
occasion as Chief guest.
On 2nd August programme was organised by Department
of Community Medicine, ESIC Medical College, Joka.
Dr Rekha Dutt, HOD co-ordinated the programme in a
befitting manner.
On 3rd August programme was held at College of
Nursing, Asia Heart Foundation, Sonarpur.
On 4th August programme was held at Lady Dufferin
Victoria Hospital and the programme ends on 7th August
with colorful rally and interactive sessions with mothers
and community in remote areas.
The entire week long program was wonderfully

coordinated by Dr Sunil Kumar Nag, Treasurer IPHA.
9. National Workshop on Basics of
Health Economics for Medical
Professionals:
Dated: 17th to 20th September 2018
Venue: NHM Building, Swasthya
Bhaban
IPHA in collaboration with IDSK Kolkata held from 17th
to 20th September 2018 at NHM Building, Swasthya
Bhaban. It was 4 days workshop the workshop was
beautifully organized and very much appreciated by the
delegates.
10. World Contraceptive Day
Dated: 26th September 2018
Venue: Hyatt Regency
IPHA in collaboration with Bengal Obstetrics and
Gynecological Society (BOGS) observed WCD on 26th
September 2018 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata.
Welcome address by Dr Sudhir Adhikari, President
BOGS.
Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General, IPHA focused
on collaboration with the Public and Private sectors in
Family Planning services.
Keynote address by Dr Ajoy Chakraborty, DHS, Govt. of
West Bengal
Ms Indrani Bhattacharya, CINI, addressed Gender
Disparity and Increasing Male Participation in Family
Planning.
Ms Shikha Shrivastava, PSI, delivered speech on Quality
Assurance in Family Planning Services in the Private
Sector Panel discussions was held on different topics:
Public Health Challenges in Adopting Contraceptives in
the Community.

11. 63rd Foundation Day
Dated: 28th September 2018
Venue: Calcutta National Medical
College
IPHA observed 63rd foundation day celebration on this
year theme: Preventing Diabetes – Primary to Tertiary on
28th September 2018 at New Auditorium building,
Calcutta National Medical College
Dr Pradip Kumar Mitra, DME inaugurated the
programme and graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Dr Ajay Kumar Ray, Principal, CNMC graced the

programme as Guest of honour.
Dr Prabir Kumar Das, President IPHA welcomed the
members and guests and deliver his speech on emerging
issues of Diabetes and role of IPHA.
Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General, IPHA
welcomed delegates and guests and informed the
audience about the brief history of IPHA.
Accreditation of CME hours 3.5 credit hours were
approved by West Bengal Medical Council. More than
100 delegates were registered from different medical
colleges.
Prof. Nilanjan Sengupta delivered speech on “Role of
Diabetic Educators in India”
Dr Rana Bhattacharjee delivered lecture on Initial
Pharmacological management of Type2 DM.
Dr Ghanashyam Goel delivered speech on Diabetic Foot
Ulcer.
Dr Sujoy Ghosh delivered speech on Fallacies on HbA1c and many more topics related with Prevention of
Diabetes has been covered.

12. “Updates on Immunization”
Dated: 16th November, 2018
Venue: Calcutta Medical College &
Hospital, Mother & Child Hub
IPHA & Department of Community Medicine, Calcutta
Medical College jointly observed CME program on
Updates on immunization with technical support of Pfizer
on 16th November 2018 at MCH Hub, Calcutta Medical
College& Hospital.
Dr Ashis kumar Basu, Principal & Prof. Dr K.D.
Bhattacharyya, HOD inaugurated the programme and
grace the occasion.
Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General IPHA
welcomed delegates and guests and informed the
audience about the brief history of IPHA.
Various topics were discussed in the programme.
Dr Samar Biswas, WHO Consultant, NPSP delivered
lecture on MR Campaign
Prof. Aloke Gopal Ghoshal, Director, NAABI, delivered
speech on Pneumococcal diseases and vaccines.
Dr Basab Mukherjee, Secretary, BOGS focused on
Cervical cancer and HPV Vaccine.
Dr Suman Kanungo, Scientist E, NICED delivered
lecture on Rota Virus vaccine
Dr Mousumi Datta, Assistant Professor, Department of
Community Medicine, MCH delivered speech on Adult
Vaccination. The programme was a grand success and
very much appreciated by dignitaries & members.
Participation certificates have been distributed among
participants. The programme is supported by Pfizer
limited.

13. Children’s Day Celebration:
Dated: 14th November
The programme was organized by Kalitara Mahila
Samity at Pagladanga. Ms. Manju Chatterjee was
secretary of the committee. Gifts and sweets were
distributed among childrens on that day borne by IPHA
HQ .
14. World AIDS Day
Dated: 1st December 2018
Venue: Dhulagarh Truck Terminal
IPHA organized an HIV/AIDS awareness programme in
collaboration with Ambuja cement foundation & Apollo
Tyre among the truck drivers at Dhulagarh truck terminal,
1st Dec, from 14.00 - 16.00 hr. The programme was
attended by CMOH, Deputy CMOH II, DMCHO of
Howrah district.
Mr. M.K. Maity, Project Coordinator, Ambuja Cement
Foundation, Dhulagarh was the program organizer.
15. National Workshop on GIS for Health
professionals
Dated: 7th - 9th & 21st – 23rd Dec 2018
Venue: IPHA Bhaban, Kolkata
IPHA & OPSIS System Pvt. Ltd. has made a MOU
between them and conducted an interactive workshop &
training program to medical professionals on
Geoinformatics education/Geographical Information
System(GIS) at IPHA Bhaban.
Dr Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General IPHA, Dr
Pritam Roy, organizing Secretary, Dr Abhishek De,
program Coordinator, Dr Soma Basu, Director OPSIS
System welcomed delegates and interacted with them.
In this workshop around 50 no’s of delegates has been
registered from different states. Training materials, GIS
software & dataset has been handed over to trainees.
Theoretical lectures, practical use of GIS technology in
the domain of Health GIS for using collected data to infer
location impact through visual maps practically
demonstrated by trained resource faculties from OPSIS.
At the end of the programme certificates has been
distributed among participants & organizers.
The Workshop was a grand success and very much
appreciated by dignitaries & members.
Secretary General Regional Meetings / Programmes Visit
1. “Delhi - End TB Summit”: – On invitation Dr. Sanghamitra Ghosh, Secretary General, IPHA participated in the
programme at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi on 13th March 2018. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India- Shri Narendra
Modi graced the occasion and address the gathering.
Welcome speech deliberated by Shri J.P. Nadda, Hon.MoHFW, Govt. of India. The programme was co-hosted by
the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, WHO South East Asia Regional Office, and global
STOP TB Partnership. The Summit was deliberated on multi-sectoral approach in fight against the disease and
expanding TB services in the context of Universal Health Coverage.
The Summit was attended by the Ministers of Health from over 20 countries, technical international agencies,
NGO’s Donors, Private Sector and Communities affected by T.B.
Director General of the WHO also participated along with Heads of other international organisations. The
programme was successful and was very much appreciated by the respected dignitaries & members and was
followed by valedictory session.

2. World NCD Federation: - Secretary General on invitation attended 2 days programme on guidelines for
prevention, surveillance and Management of Non communicable diseases at Primary and Secondary healthcare
settings held at PGIMER Chandigarh from 6th-7th, March 2018.
Guest of Honour: Dr. S.K. Aggarwal, DGHS, Haryana, Dr J.S. Thakur, Dr Sanjay Bhadada.
Various topics – opening remarks and process of guidelines development , evidence synthesis for guidelines
development, health facilities and services available at primary and secondary care level across the world were
discussed by resource persons. Presentations by different groups on Diabetes, Cancer, COPD/ Ashtama, CVDs,
stroke, hypertension CKD, Mental Health, Liver disease (NAFLD and ALD).
Expert group presentations on prevention, surveillance. Panel discussions on participation of professional
associations and implementation of guidelines. The programme was a grand success.
3. “National Expert group technical consultation on prevention and treatment of iron deficiency Anaemia” :
On invitation Secretary General attended programme held on 23rd April 2018 at AIIMS, New Delhi. The sessions
deliberated on objectives of the National Expert Group Technical Consultation,
Introduction to Development Process of WHO Guidelines. Sessions on Recent scientific evidence on Iron
absorption, metabolism and its adverse effect. Global guidelines on prevention and treatment of Anaemia amongst
Pregnant and lactating mothers and many more sessions.
4. IPHACON 2019 Pre-Conference visit: Secretary General visited upcoming IPHA Annual National Conference
venue at Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The AP State branch of IPHA under the
leadership of Dr K.S. Karunamurthy with support of Dr TSR Sai & Dr J Ravi Kumar former Presidents of IPHA
organizing this Conference. The college has an Auditorium with a seating capacity of 600 with adequate
audiovisual equipment. There are 4 to 6 lecture halls with a seating capacity up-to 200 persons. 3 to 5 Star hotels
are available for comfortable accommodation at best prices. Around 2000 delegates can comfortably accommodate
for four days for conference.
5. HIV Sentinel Surveillance 2019: Secretary General attended 2 days programme on National Pre-Surveillance
Meeting of RI AND SACS held on 11th & 12th October 2018 at Country Inn & Suites, Gurgaon, Haryana jointly
organized by NACO & AIIMS. Shri Alok Saxena, Joint Secretary, NACO graced the occasion as Guest of honor.
Key note address by Shri Sanjeeva Kumar, Add. Secretory & DG (NACO & RNTCP).
Sessions held on HSS 2019: Review of actions taken by SACS on important instructions and review of
proposal of new sites on different topics. Dr Sanjay Rai, AIIMS delivered speech on Key findings and learnings
from HSS 2018: An Overview. Presentation by State Teams (PGIMER Region), (NARI Region), (NIE Region).
6. Telengana State Conference: Secretary General attended 1st Joint Conference of Telengana State Chapters of
IAPSM and IPHA organized by Department of Community Medicine at Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences,
Hyderabad. from 30th November - 1st December 2018 with Pre-Conference Workshop on 29th December 2018.
Theme of the Conference was “Universal Health Coverage: Opportunities and Challenges” and topic of
preconference workshop was “Health Economics” Dr. G. Anjaneyulu Oration was held on the same day, Orator
was Dr J. Ravi Kumar, immediate past president IPHA . The Organizing Chairman Dr Prashant Kokiwar &
Organizing Secretary Dr Varun Vijay Gaiki and their wonderful team has made the conference a grand success.

IPHA membership Directory: The Membership directory has been updated regularly at HQ. Membership database has been uploaded in the
website and details of individual member can be changed or edited by login in the website. Individual members are
requested to update their profile in the website as soon as any change occurs. All information are sent by bulk
Email and website notification and also in the journal. Fellowship Online Voting link has been created and sent to
individual fellow members at their corresponding email-ids. The recent & upcoming events has been regularly
updated in website. To get regular communication all members are requested to save the IPHA HQ mail in the
contact list.

Lucknow State Branch: Observed World Health Day on 7th April 2018 in which importance of health day
focusing on theme “Universal Health Coverage” were discussed.
Observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2018 in which introduction on what is environment, its importance
and the need to save it were discussed. It was followed by focusing on the theme 2018 i.e. “Beat Plastic Pollution”
and discussing about tremendous use of plastic and its hazards. Observed World Breast Feeding Week from1st – 7th
Aug 2018.
Day 1- Introduction to breastfeeding week, its origin and need to spread awareness about benefits of breastfeeding,
focus was on theme “Foundation of Life”.
Day 2- discussion was done on ideal breastfeeding positions, attachment and latching. Baby friendly hospital
initiative was also discussed.
Day 3- individual nutritional components in breast milk were discussed. The need of these nutrients in infants was
talked about.
Day 4-7 visits to sub-centre and primary health centre Sarojini Nagar for spreading awareness in community
regarding benefits of breastfeeding
Observed World Nutrition Week from 1st – 7th September 2018 focusing on the theme “Go Further with Food” in
which awareness about the importance of proper nutrition for health and well-being was discussed
Observed World Diabetes Day on 14th Nov 2018 focusing on the theme "The Family and Diabetes". Awareness
about the impact of diabetes on the family and how to provide a support network to those who are affected by
diabetes was raised.
Observed World AIDS Day on 1st Dec 2018 in which focus was given on the theme “Know Your Status”. Burden
of AIDS in India and importance of knowing your status was talked about in the session
Pondicherry State Branch: The following activities were conducted under the banner of Pondicherry State
Chapter of IPHA.
1. World TB Day celebration: Indo US TB Project, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, JIPMER,
Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Government of Puducherry and Indian Public Health
Association Puducherry Chapter observed the WORLD TB DAY 2018 on 23rd March 2018. The theme of the
Community Engagement Programme was “Wanted: Leaders for a TB-free world..
2.Efficient quality-assured data capture using a mobile phone: A hands-on training on EpiCollect, an open
access (free) web and mobile (android and iOS) application for electronic data capture was organized by
Department of PSM and IPHA State Branch, Pondicherry on 26thJuly 2017. The inaugural session was attended by
Dr Sonali Sarkar, Head of PSM, Dr Sitanshu Sekhar Kar, Additional Prof & Secretary-IPHA State Branch and Dr
Palanivel C, Associate Professor & Lead facilitator for the workshop.
3. Workshop on Pallitaive care conducted by IPM, Calicut.- A three day workshop on Palliative care was
conducted by Institute of Palliative Care Medicine and JIPMER, Puducherry under the aegis of IPHA state branch
from 26th to 28th June 2018.
4. Observation of various events in the field practice areas of dept of PSM, JIPMER
World health day, malaria month, breast feeding week, hypertension day, World diabetes day and International
Yoga day were observed in the field practice areas of JIPMER to create awareness about these events/conditions in
community.
5. Membership drive: A special membership drive was conducted by the State Branch to enrol new life members
from various medical colleges in and around Puducherry. A total of 30 members were enrolled during this year.
Rajasthan State Branch: Started regular school health programme in different schools of Jodhpur.
1. Ear morbidity detection camps in urban & rural health training centres in March 2018 (on World Hearing day)
2. A camp was conducted on reproductive morbidities on March 6 & 7 2018.
3. Regular health & silicosis diagnosis camp for mine workers from March 2018
4. Swachata Pakwada organized in Peripheral Health Centres , poster and slogan competitions were organized in
first week of April 2018
5. Training of medical officers for diagnosis of pneumoconiosis on 19th & 20th November 2018
6. Vector borne disease surveillance was carried out in urban health training centre

Andhra Pradesh State Branch: Conducted several activities throughout the year.
1. 14 institutions which included 12 medical colleges, 1 PHC and 1 Nursing College had participated in observing
World Health Day under IPHA AP State Branch which included various activities in the field and at the institution
level.
2. World Menstrual Hygiene Day at GVPIHMT under IPHA AP State Branch and the involvement of IPHA- AP
State Branch in prevention and control of breast cancer.
3. Created Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene, Breast Cancer and cervical Cancer. Beneficiaries- 1 Lakh Women in
Reproductive age group. Sponsored by: MEPMA- AP
4. Distributed Sanitary Napkins to teenage girls.
5. Created awareness and collected signed Consent forms for organ donation from, 1.2 Lakh people in Andhra
Pradesh- Record and entered in INDIA BOOK OF RECORDS. Sponsored by MEPMA- AP
6. World Population Day was observed across the state
7. IPHA Exhibition stall in “8th International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management”.

Community Medicine & Family Medicine, King George’s Medical University (K.G.M.U.), Lucknow,

All branches require yearly recognition. This recognition can be given followed by ratification in the
Annual General Body of the Association provided the branches submit report of their activities including
the report of their Annual General Body meeting and Statement of Accounts. As is evident from the
records, majority of the branches are not submitting Audited Report of Accounts.
The MIPHA scrolls have been prepared and dispatched to the members. All members are requested to
continue their efforts towards membership drive.
