Text 2My Rush Time as a Journalist

I usually woke up at eight o'clock a.m. and went to the Press Centerto check the daily schedule of briefings and press conferences. It wasusually held by the United Nation officials or disaster mitigationteam.It was challenging to visit different refugee camps to find suchstories, human interest stories. After that I went back to the PressCenter to cover the press conferences of the day.It was heart breaking when I saw these survivors fight for food andsecondhand clothing. Unfortunately as they said, the food and clothingwere limited and inadequate. Emerging to glaring, fool noon, it wastime to go back to Press Center to write stories and race againsttime. I was always fearing that the internet would come crushing down.After everything was done, only then I remembered to eat. Malaysian Deputy Health Ministry urged every woman to carry acondom to protect against HIV, a news report said.“This is not todebate them but to protect them. Last year, 745 Malaysian women were identified as HIV-positive and193 were diagnosed with AIDS, he said in the report. Officials havesaid nearly 81000 Malaysian have been infected with HIV, less then 10percent are woman, but the number is steadily rising.

Malaysian Aids Council president, Adeebah Kamarulzaman, was quotedas saying besides sex workers, many women who contract HIV arehousewives, were infected unknowingly by their husbands. “It’s notthat people don’t know that condoms can protect them. Sumenep regency is located in Madura Island which is separated

from Java Island by Madura Staits. Sumenep is one of other famous

cities in Madura Island. It’s capital city is Sumenep town. It is

the biggest original income region because gas and oil source was

found in this regency.

Karapan sapi is a competition of cow race which carry wooden

carriages. The length of the race circuit is usually 100 meter. In

Sumenep, Karapan Sapi (cow race) is held every year in August and

September. This competition is very amusement. Many people gather

for watching this competition.

The people of Sumenep are very nice, because of the culture

influences of Javanese and Sumenep Royal Palace.

In this regency we can visit some tourism objects; one of them

is Lombang Beach. Lombang beach is a beach with sand white to

spread out. We can find shrimp spruce-fir trees along the beach.

It is the only beach in Indonesia where shrimp spruce-fir trees

grow well. It is an ancient tree. Except that, we can find a

unique habit. It is karapan sapi (cow race).

The cooked food in Sumenep regency is very tasteful; one of

them is Soto Sumenep or Soto Sabreng. Soto Sabreng was served with

a packed of rice and a boil cassava. In this soto we can find meat

of cow, taiga, sharp-spice peanut, and a piguant gland sauce.
