T h e r e were some m i n o r i n c o n v e n i e n c e s d u r i n g the w o r k , such as c l o t h i n g h a v i n g to f)e m o v e d w h i l e p a i n t i n g was d o n e , d i s t u r b a n c e s w h i l e new c a r p e t i n g was p u t i n , a n d noise d u e to d r i l l i n g . There is new c e n t r a l p l u m b i n g , now that the o l d 12 ga l lon water tanks i n each separate a p a r t m e n t have been replaced. Batchel ler assures that " t h e hot water w i l l v i r t u a l l y not r u n o u t as it d i d i n the past." O n the r o a d d o w n to the lownhouses (Fa i rw (M )d Dr ive) , l i g h t i n g has

been i m p r o v e d a n d p r o t e c t e d f r o m the weather, as the l i g h t p o s t s are u p o n c e m e n t blocks . I n s u l a t i o n was b l o w n i n t o the Tow t ihouse walls, b u t this p r o v e d to he a f a i l u r e , so b a t t e n o r " r o l l e d " i n s u l a t i o n w i l l be i n s t a l l e d next year. . A t P e r k i n s C r e e n a c e n t r a l l y -m o n i t o r e d fire a l a r m system is p r e s e n t l y b e i n g ins ta l led ( C o l o n y already has i t . a n d al l the c o m p l e x e s w i l l e v e n t u a l l y ) . This system alerts C a m p u s Safety i m m e d i a t e l y i n case of a fire. A new garage has been a d d e d next to the l a u n d r y / a d m i n i s t r a t i o n f i u i l d i n g . w i t h a new t n i c k f o r p l o w i n g a n d o t h e r m a i n t e n a n c e . C u t t e r w o r k is p l a n n e d to h e l p against t f ie ice c o n d i t i o n s w l i i c f i o c c u r d u e to c l o g g i n g of the o l d water dra ins , thus caus ing ice pools o n the s idewalks a n d p a r k i n g areas. T h i s is also a m a j o r c o n c e r n at R i v e r k n o l l a n d w o r k w i l l he d o n e there as w e l l .

All of the glory planes of 1941 came to Geneseo for the 1941 Air Show: including the lightning fast P51 IVIustang and the enormous B-17. Even though the weather was bad during the three day show, thousands of people came to see old relics from World War II and the Korean Conflict era, as well as modern aircraft used by the United States military. The show IS sponsored by the National War Plane (Museum and draws military artifacts and crews from C a n a d a and the United States. For the old warriors, the weekend-long event was a bit of nostalgia, and for the new aviation enthusiast, the 1941 Air Show proved to be both educational and entertaining.

T he nicknames given to these "less expensive" beers tell the whole story: Old Mildew,

Genny Scream Ale, Black Plague, Sh*ts, Meister Chow. Sometimes known as "swiH" or simply cheap beer, these pilsners have the dubious distinction of being some of America's worst. They get their infamous recognition either because of their horrible taste, disgusting side effects, location of the brewery (i.e. Utica Club) or a combination of these qualities (i.e. Genesee Cream Ale). But which one is the best of the worst^ If you are practically busted but crave a barley beverage, which one do you choose? Which one tastes best? Which one will send you to see the porcelain god? It's a big decision when you're about to lay down your last two-and-a-half bucks on a six pack. Of course, the importance of these considerations IS proportional to the number of sixes, twelves or cases that you plan to buy.

That's why we here at REPORTER have done a little research. A group of six judges rated twelve of the cheapest beers around for:

Color—\\ might as well look good, Aroma—\1 it smells like a septic

tank you'll never get it past your lips, Tasfe—obviously the prime factor, Aftertaste—[he lingering nasti-

ness that can make or break a cheap beer,

Cons/s/ency—paste or piss?, Open-a-bility—an important

consideration if you are having more than ten.

Head—that is to say bubbles. Gas—that the beer causes the

consumer to vent, and, Packaging—\Nha[ the hell, this is

RIT. Judges rated the beers on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best and 1 worst. The results were then tallied; the highest scoring beer in each category was given a 10 and the

others were given proportional ratings.

To be eligible for judging, the beers had to meet only two criteria: One, that they be brewed domestically, and two, that they be available for less than three dollars a SIX pack. An exception was made for Pabst Blue Ribbon ($3.19) because no comparison of cheap beers would be complete without RB.R. The other contestants were: Carling (not to be confused with Carlsberg) Black Label, Busch, Genesee Beer, Genesee Cream Ale,

Meister Brau, Milwaukee's Best, Old Milwaukee, Piel's, Schlitz, Schmidt's, and Utica Club Light. Working on the premise that beer and college go almost hand in hand (regardless of what the Institute says), REPORTER went in search of the best beer for college budgets. After embarras­singly selecting six-packs of the

cheapest beer we could find, we retired to the strenuous, often danger­ous job of tasting all that swill. When we began we knew it would be a true test of ingestional fortitude, but we plowed on, knowing that this burning question could not remain unanswered any longer. We owed it to you, the consumer, and what the hell we were psyched to drink.

When my friends and I graduated from high school, we all took part-time jobs to pay for college.

They ended up in car washes and hamburger joints, putting in long hours for little pay.

Not me. My job takes just one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Yet, I'm earning $18,000 for college.

Because I joined my l(x:al Army National Guard.

They're the people who help our state during emergencies like hurri-canes and floods. They're also an important part of our country's military defense.

So, since I'm helping them do such an important job, they're helping me make it through school.

As soon as I finished Advanced Training, the Guard gave me a cash bonus of $2,000. Then, under the New GI Bill, I'm getting another $5,000 for tuition and books.

Not to mention my monthly Army Guard paychecks. They'll add up to more than $11,000 over the six years I'm in the Guard.
