Summary and Recommendations (MENA)

•High Demand in MENA region:oRelatively low number of registered Clinical Engineers in MENA –

high demand for CertificationsoMedical Devices growth is very bigoavailability of Hospital Beds is relatively still lower than other regionsoBids for Governmental Hospitals are more significant in most MENA

countriesoBiggest Healthcare spending is in KSA, Egypt, UAE, but Lebanon has

the higher spending by population.oExpect a High demand for Certifications of available Clinical

Engineers, mainly in KSA, UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon and Jordan

Recommendations (Int’l)•Awareness programs in all over the world on CE/HTMimportant role in management of Healthcare Technology

•CE/HTM should encompass more IT and Cybersecurityprograms in the curriculum, and development of standardsthat define each role and responsibilities to support newsystems

•Unify CE/HTM professionals’ definitions for National andInternational Certifications and Education

•Need to expand CE/HTM fields and opportunities; moreStrategic Planning, and Technology Assessment

•Need to unify Medical Devices Nomenclature•Need to develop more Benchmarking Indicators valid inmost Countries
