System requirements

1. Hardware requirements

1.1 General notes❱ The system requirements of the OS and the DBMS

must be taken into account when sizing the computer(s).❱ The exact requirements of the drivers can be found

in the corresponding documentation and must also be taken into account

1.2 ServerIn the case of the Server, it should be ensured that it offers a true server structure, e.g. Intel Xeon.We recommend the following sizes for a complete psm server, i.e. Database server and Apache Tomcat:❱ CPU: QUAD > 3 GHz or more❱ RAM: 64 bit system: at least 16 GB❱ Hard disc storage:

At least 500 GB of free hard disc storage is required (redundant via Raid 1 or 5 or better).

❱ Network interface with at least 1 GBit/sec.❱ The required interfaces (COM, Ethernet, USB)

are dependent on the driver(s) that are in use. Please refer to the corresponding driver documentation.

1. The requirements in terms of the server hardware are very much dependent on the systems that are connected. The system requirements of the connected systems must be taken into account here.

2. NVR-CCTV video systems must be operated on separate hardware, including network and must not be located on the server.

3. Chapter “Client” (Chapter 1.3) must be noted if client applications should also run on the server.

1.3 ClientWe recommend the following sizes for a client:❱ CPU: at least 3 GHz❱ RAM: 32 bit system (x86 computer): 4 GB

64 bit system: at least 16 GB❱ Hard disc storage:

At least 500 GB of free hard disc storage is required. ❱ Graphic card: DVI, at least 1680 x 1050; Multiple,

depending on the number of required physical monitors with the corresponding number of outputs Please take the requirements of the deployed video system(s) into account, as necessary.

❱ Network interface: at least 1GBit/s❱ Sound card

2. Software requirements

2.1 Server side2.1.1 Operating systemsCurrently, the following operating systems are supported:❱ Windows Server 2008 R2❱ Windows Server 2012❱ Windows Server 2012 R2❱ Windows Server 2016

Chapter “Operating systems” (Chapter 2.2.1) must be noted if client applications should also run on the server.

Virtual operating systems:“VMware” can be deployed as the virtualisation system. Further virtualisation systems on request

Please take note of the following restrictions when deploying virtual operating systems:1. You must ensure that the applications connected to

psm2200 can run on the deployed virtualisation system.2. You must ensure that in the case of serial connections,

the connection to the virtualisation system behaves in the same way as when deployed without visualisation (performance & timing).

3. It may be necessary to reactivate the software licence because the hardware specifications of the virtualisation system can change. The hardware is specified based on the components deployed with the server. For this reason, a new activation, that is to say a new psm2200 licence, is necessary if anything changes in the server constellation. If applications (drivers) are moved, this has no effect on the psm2200 licence.

2.1.2 Supported database management systemsThe following database management systems (DBMS) can be deployed in conjunction with psm2200:❱ H2❱ Oracle from Version 10, 11 and 12 ❱ MS SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016

During the installation, no differentiation is made as to whether an XE version (only for Oracle 10), an Express version or a version requiring a licence is being installed. You should be aware of the restricted sizes of the free-of-charge databases.

Please enquire with your supplier about the suitability of other database management systems.

A pre-prepared, freeware H2 database is supplied with the software.

2.1.3 Web / Application serverTomcatTomcat version 8.0.38 is required. This version is supplied with the software and is installed during the psm2200 installation procedure.

Newer versions have not been tested by us and are therefore not approved by us for use with psm2200. Please enquire with your supplier about the suitability of other web servers . Only the psm2200 Web applications may be operated under the Tomcat for psm2200.

2.1.4 Java Runtime Environment (JRE)The 64 bit version of JRE Version 1.8.0.201 is required. This version is supplied with the software and is installed during the psm2200 installation procedure.

It must be ensured that no automatic Java updates will be carried out.

2.1.5 .NET FrameworkDepending on the driver or plugin, an appropriate .NET Framework (3.5, 4, 4.6.2, ...) is required and is installed largely automatically during the installation process. For this purpose, the psm2200 server may need an Internet connection. Otherwise, the operating system may generate an error during the installation process, which provides information on the correct installation method. This must then be carried out by a system administrator on site to ensure that the system is ready to run.

2.1.6 LDAP / SSOLDAP (username & password) can be used for logging on to psm2200. Single Sign On (SSO) is not supported.

2.1.7 DriversEssentially, each driver has to be considered separately, in order to be able to define the server-based requirements for the proposed psm2200 installation.Different systems are connected to psm2200 over corresponding drivers. Please refer to the appropriate driver documentation to determine the compatibility of the driver to the psm2200 version.

Our general recommendation is that during an update, you should not only update the psm2200 Server and psm2200 Client, but also the corresponding drivers and/or plugins because the individual components are matched to each other.

1. All required drives have to be specified for the generation of the licence file.

2. Redundancy capabilities are dependent on the hardware that is connected and has to be clarified on a case-by-case basis.

2.2 Client side2.2.1 Operating systemsCurrently, the following operating systems are supported:❱ Windows 7 (Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise (min. SP1))

– x86 (32 bit system) – x64 (64 bit system)

❱ Windows 8.1 (Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise) – x86 (32 bit system) – x64 (64 bit system)

❱ Windows 10 (Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise) – x86 (32 bit system) – x64 (64 bit system)

2.2.2 Java Runtime Environment (JRE)The 32 or 64 bit version of JRE Version 1.8.0.201 is required. Newer versions have not been tested by us and are therefore not approved by us for use with psm2200. This version is supplied with the software and is installed during the psm2200 installation procedure.

It must be ensured that no automatic Java updates will be carried out.

2.2.3 .NET FrameworkDepending on the driver or plugin, an appropriate .NET Framework (3.5, 4, 4.6.2, ...) is required and is installed largely automatically during the installation process. The psm2200 Server requires an Internet connection for this purpose. Otherwise, a corresponding error message is generated during the installation process, advising what the correction installation procedure is.This then has to be done by a local System administrator so that an operational system is created.

2.2.4 PluginsFundamentally, each plugin has to be considered separately when it comes to determining the client-based system requirements for psm2200.Different systems are connected to psm2200 through various plugins. Please refer to the relevant plugin documentation for details of the compatibility of the plugin to the psm2200 version. The required DLLs and SDK Redistributables are supplied and installed in a similar way to the driver routine.

The plugins always have to be installed locally on the client device where they are to be used. The plugin folder structure is prescribed by the installation and may not be changed.

2.2.5 Supported audio formatsIn terms of audio files, the file extensions .mp3 and .wav are supported, whereby in both cases, they are only containers for the following codings:❱ mp3 encoding:

Raw MPEG-1, 2, and 2.5 audio; layers I, II, and III; all supported combinations of sampling frequencies and bit rates.

❱ pcm encoding: Uncompressed, raw audio samples

There is a limitation to a maximum file size of 5 MB.

pdf Innenseiten Beschnitt: außen 3 mm – innen 0mm

2.2.6 Graphics – Formats and sizesThe following graphic formats are supported:❱ Vector graphics: EMF, WMF and SVG (Standard format)❱ Pixel graphics: JPEG, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP

In the case of SVG graphics, the pure SVG format is supported up to version 1.1. Embedded pictures within the SVG file are not supported. CSS elements within the SVG graphics are not supported.

No animated GIFs are supported

When generating new background pictures, if these are uploaded from the file system, the system checks whether they are bigger than 25 MB.If this is the case, a corresponding message is output. The size of 25 MB is calculated from the maximum picture size of 3840 x 2160 pixels using the RGB colour model. This means that 3 bytes are available per pixel.

2.2.7 Mobile Clients❱ Android and iOS operating systems are supported:

– min. Android 5 – min. iOS 10

❱ In each case, only the on-board browser is supported: – Chrome (Android) – Safari (iOS)

❱ The mobile client is only supported if you are working with HTTPS communication.

Please be aware that the connection is not secure when using self-signed certificates and warning messages may appear.

Changes have to be made at the psm2200 Server if a Milestone Video System 2013 is being controlled through the Mobile client.

A file with the name “config.properties” has to be created in the “<tomcat>/webapps/psm-server-web/WEB-INF/classes” folder, with the following contents:

# En-/Disables the extended authentication

mechanism for Milestone Mobile Server mobile.

streaming.milestone.extended.auth.enabled=false

Then, Tomcat has to be restarted.

3. Network

3.1 FirewallThe deployed port must be released in the firewall settings. Default is 8080 or 8443 when using HTTPS (ssl).

3.2 ProtocolHessian (binary protocol, Version 3.1.6) is used as the protocol over HTTP or HTTPS.A timeout can be defined in the case of Hessian whereby the default value is 60 seconds. If no response is sent to the client within this time, the client identifies this as a connection fault and attempts to re-establish a connection to the server again after 3 seconds. These times can be redefined by creating a workstation within the psm2200 Configuration client and assigning it to the system user.Alternatively, the workstation can also be assigned through the psm2200 control centre client.

3.3 BandwidthPlease refer to Chapter “Server” (Chapter 1.2) and Chapter “Client” (Chapter 1.3) respectively for the required bandwidths for the Server and Client computers.

4. Operation of psm2200 in accordance with VdS 3534, EN 50518-2

The H2 database has to be operated in embedded mode for the operation of psm2200 to be VdS-compliant. This is ensured by the installation program with the “VdS” option is activated.

A process to monitor the NTP Time synchronisation has to be set up in psm2200 for the operation to be VdS-compliant. The NTP Time synchronisation driver is available for this purpose. Here, the NTP Network Time Protocol (S321-006.001) must also be ordered.
