YournewTVsetisequippedfortheTVstandard"HDTV"(High Definition Television). With its high definitionscreen, the 100 Hz image refresh frequency and thefuture-orienteddigitalinterfacesHDMI(HighDefinitionMultimediaInterface)itofferspossibilitiesforwatchingHDTVbroadcastsinanexcellentpicturequality.HDTVisaworldwide,digitalstandardinthe16:9formatwhichrevolutionisesnormalTVviewing.Itisbroadcastwithanuptofivetimesgreaterresolutionthanconven-tionalsignalsandthereforecreatesanunexpectedly3Dimage.

TheTVsetisequippedfordigitalreception.YoucanusetheeverywhereTV(DVB-T)alreadybroadcastmanytimesaswellasdigitalcable(DVB-C)andalsodigitalsatellitereception(DVB-S)withaupgrade.TheLoeweDigital+HD100platforminsetswithDigitalRecorderevenena-blesdualreceptionofuncodedstationsofDVB-T,DVB-CandDVB-S.IfMHEG-5isselectedforlocationofTVsetUKorIRL,DVB-CandDVB-Sreceptionisnotpossible,seealsoonpage13.

TheTVsetcanbeupgradedwithanAC3module.Youcanthenconnecta speaker system (e.g. Loewe Individual Sound)andenjoy themoviesound.DolbyDigital,dtsandMPEGaredecoded.

The wizards in overviewInitial installation

Theinitial installationwizardhelpsyouwiththeinitial installationandconnectionofanyexistingequipment(seepage12).

Setting up the antenna

Youenterintheantennawizardwhichantennasignalsareavailabletoyou.Theantennawizardiscalledininitialinstallation(seepage12).YoucanalsoopentheantennawizardintheTV menuunderConnections→ Antenna DVB→ Antenna DVB-S(1 orAntenna DVB-T.

Search wizard

If,aftertheinitialinstallation,youwanttosearchfornewstations,orifyouhavesetupyourantennaforthefirsttime,thenyoucanhandlethistaskwiththehelpofthesearchwizard(seepage24).YouwillfindthesearchwizardintheTV menuunderSettings→ Stations→ Search wizard.

Connecting external devices

Theconnectionwizardensuresthatalldevicesarecorrectlyregisteredandconnected.Itisstartedautomaticallyattheendoftheinitialinstal-lationwizardbutcanalsobecalledseparately(seepage40).YouwillfindtheconnectionwizardintheTVmenuunderConnections→ New devices/modifications.

Connecting sound components

Thesoundcomponentwizardensuresthatthecomponentswhichrepro-ducetheTVsoundarecorrectlyregistered,connectedandset.Itisstartedautomaticallyattheendoftheinitialinstallationwizardbutcanalsobecalledseparately(seepage47).Youwillfindthesoundcomponentswiz-ardintheTV menuunderConnections→ Sound components.

Assist+

Youcanselectthemost importantoperatingmodesdirectlywiththeAssist+menu(ASSISTbutton).Selectablemodesare:TV,Radiodigital,Teletext,PhotoViewer,CAmodule,IndexandwhenequippedwithDig-italRecorderalsoDigitalRecorderarchive(seepage16).

Programming and managing recordings

TherecordingwizardhelpsyoutoprogrammeavideorecordingwithaVCR,DVDorDigitalRecorder,ifinstalled(seepage50).

Station list

Thestationlist isalistofallthestoredstations.Youcanalsousethestationlistforswitchingstationsconveniently(seepage18).

Proper use and environmental conditions

ThisTVsetisintendedexclusivelyforthereceptionandreproductionofvideoandaudiosignalsanddesignedforthehomeandoffice.Itmaynotbeusedinroomswithhighhumidity (e.g.bathrooms,saunas)orhighdust concentration(e.g.workshops).Themanufacturer‘swarrantyisonlyvalidforuseinthespecifiedpermissibleenvironment.

Ifthesetisusedoutdoorsthenensurethatitisprotectedagainstmois-ture(rain,splashingwater,ordew).Highhumidityanddustconcentrationcausecreepcurrentsintheset.Thiscancauseelectricshocksorfires.

If you have brought the set into awarmenvironmentfromthecold,thenwaitforabout1hourbeforeswitchingitontoavoidformationofcondensa-tion.

Transporting

Onlytransportthedeviceinvertical position.Graspthedeviceontheupperandloweredgesofthehousing.

TheLCDscreenismadeofglassorplasticandcanbreakifnothandledproperly.IftheLCDscreenisdamagedandliquid crystalisleaking,wearrubberglovesforhandlingtheTVset.Ifthereisskin contact immediatelywashthoroughlywithwater.

Power supply

Thewrong voltage candamagetheset.Thisequipmentmustonlybeconnectedtoamainspowersupplywhichhasthesamevoltageandfrequency as that specifiedon the ratingplate; use thepower cableprovided.Themains plug oftheTVsetmustbeeasilyaccessiblesothatthedevicecanbedisconnectedfromthemainsatanytime.Whenyouunplugthemainsplug,donotpullonthecableratherpullontheplughousing.Thecable inthemainsplugcouldbedamagedandcauseashort circuit thenexttimeitispluggedin.

Layoutthepower cable insuchamannerthatitcannotbedamaged.Thepowercablemaynotbekinkedorlaidoversharpedges,steppedonorexposedtochemicals;Thelatteralsoappliesfortheentireequip-ment.Apowercablewithdamagedinsulationcancauseelectrical shock andisafire hazard.

Air circulation and high temperatures

Likeanyelectronicdevice,yourTVset requires air for cooling.Ob-structionoftheaircirculationcancausefires.

StandtheTVsetwiththetableorfloorstandonlyona level,sturdy, horizontal base.Particularlyensurethatthesetdoesnotprotrudetothefrontwhenplacedinoronpiecesoffurniture.

Setupthedevicewhereitisnotexposedtodirectsunlightandwhereitisnotexposedtoadditionalwarmingthroughheating elements.

Preventmetal items,needles,paperclips,liquids,wax,orsimilaritems,fromgettingintotheinteriorofthedevicethroughthevent slots intherearpanel.Suchobjectscancauseshort circuits intheset,whichcouldpossiblycauseafire.

YourTVsetisequippedwithaneco-standbypowersupply.Inthestandbymode,thepowerconsumptiondropstolowpower(seeTechnicaldataonpage59).Ifyouwanttosaveevenmoreenergythenswitchthedeviceoffwiththemainsswitch.Howevernotethatinthiscase,EPG(ElectronicProgrammeGuide)datawillbe lost,and itmaybethatprogrammedtimerrecordingscannotbeexecutedviatheTVdevice.

If youactivate theautomaticdimming (seepage21)yourTVpictureadaptstotheambientbrightness.ThisreducesthepowerconsumptionoftheTVset.

Packaging and box

Youhavemadeadecisiontopurchaseahigh-qualitytechnicalproductwithalongservicelife.Fordisposalofthepackaging,inaccordancewithnationallegislationwehavepaidafeetoacommissionedrecyclertopickupthepackagingfromthedealer.Neverthelesswerecommendkeepingtheoriginalboxandpackaging material onhandsothatthedevicecanbetransportedwithoptimalprotectionifnecessary.
