Super Spellers!
A huge
congratulations to
these super
spellers: Bowie;
Ben; Riley and
Alannah who
represented our
school in the
Regional Spelling Bee yesterday. All students
were amazing in their efforts, with three students
reaching the fourth round and Riley reaching the
sixth round. Well done, champs!
Amatori Choir It was my absolute pleasure to watch our school choir,
under the direction of Ian Knowles, sing with a full orchestra
and choir last weekend. I know many parents were unaware
that our students would be singing in Latin, but belt it out
opera style they did! The students were very excited during
their practice session, with several commenting that they
were surprised at how loud it was singing with the full choir
and orchestra. Ian was moved to tears to see all of the hard
work that the students had put in and for them to sound so
amazingly beautiful and powerful. Well done! Can’t wait for
the next one! A huge thanks to Ian who volunteers his time
every week at our school to work with the children.

SPRING FAIR – SATURDAY 21st September Preparations for our annual Spring Fair have started and we have some great things
happening on the day!! COME ALONG AND SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL!!!
We really need people to help out with the following jobs:
Cake stall – baking some delicious treats for the day – both sweet and savoury
General volunteers – Let us know if you can help out on the day by doing a shift
Send an email to Michelle [email protected]
This year's Spring Fair craft stall theme is 'Sustainable living' and we'd love to sell donated homemade items that encourage a reduction in plastic use and/or promote upcyling. So if you're a bit crafty or know someone that would like to make something for our stall, here is a list of ideas for items that we would love to sell, to raise money for our school.
Small tote shopping bags. Produce bags sewn from lightweight mesh, muslin or calico (no need for drawstrings). Small crochet cotton dishcloths (double crochet, 5 mm hook). Rice or wheat filled heat packs. Reusable flannelette face or baby wipes. (2 or 3 layers of fabric, sewn together). Felted old wool jumper hot water bottle covers or teapot cosies. Handmade soaps, beauty products or detergents (eco friendly of course). Also potted plants and seedlings would be welcome too!
Please leave your donations at the school office (with name) or give to Margeaux (Will and Wynn's mum - 0429 002 470) by Friday 20th September.
BOOKS/CDs/DVDs Donations are also needed for the book/cd/dvd stall of the
Spring Fair. If you have good quality items that you are
ready to pass on, please donate these to help the school.
Please drop donations off to the school office or contact
Melissa for alternative arrangements.
Spring Fair Art Auction
We have some amazing watercolours by Roland Harvey
on auction at our Spring Fair. These works are original
paintings that have been used for popular children’s
books, such as the Bonnie and Sam series and Little Barry
Bilby.
If you, or somebody you know, would be interested in
purchasing them, please come along to the Spring Fair
and place a bid. Each item will have a reserve and the bid-
ding will be open all day.
The paintings are at school, so if you would like to take a
look, please see Mr Henderson.

Half Day Holiday - Lismore Cup
Next Thursday 19th September A decision was made by Lismore Council to declare a
half day public holiday on Thursday 19 Septem-
ber 2019 for the Lismore Cup. As this has been gazet-
ted by the NSW Minister for Industrial Relations under
the Public Holidays Act of 2010, the public holiday ap-
plies to all employees working within the Lismore Local
Council Area. Since January 2012, new provisions of
the Public Holidays Act 2010 have applied to Local
Public Holidays and schools cannot be excluded from
locally gazetted public holidays for race days.
As the public holiday commences at 12 noon, it is
important for all families to make arrangements to
collect children by no later than 11.30 am next
Thursday 19 September 2019.
Our Grandparents’ Morning is on
from 9.30-11.00am
Congratulations!

Ology Evening Students have been inspired by the ‘Ology’ series of
books created by Dugald Steer. They’ve researched
and created a book that fits into this series.
To showcase these creations, we will host an
‘Evening of Ologies’. We’ll be offering a free cup of
soup so bring along your cup (no cups will be sup-
plied) and enjoy a pumpkin or potato soup.
Ology Evening: Tuesday 17 September
Time: 5.30pm Terry Currie

Book Review- By Jassy
I read the book, ‘Day is
Done’, by Peter Yarrow. I got
this book when I finished Kin-
dy. It is about all the scary
things around us, such as
thunder in the distance. But
as a kid we can see all the
good around us too.

Have fun on your special day!
