Library Bags

It is pleasing to see that most students are remembering to bring their library bags when borrowing books from the library. Our school PB4L states that students must respect library books and remember to bring their library bag. If your child does not have a library bag, we kindly ask that you provide them with a plastic shopping bag in order to protect our library books from leaking drink bottles.

2021 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC)

Once again, our school will be participating in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge. The challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, while enabling students to experience quality literature.

It is not a competition, but an opportunity for students to read more widely and more often.

Students must read from a prescribed list. K-2 students may have the books read to them.

PRC books are located on special shelves in our library, to make them easy to locate. Inside the cover of each book, there is a code, which should be recorded in a PRC Reading Log and entered online at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html

K-2 students must read 30 books from the 2021 PRC List

Years 3-6 must read 20 books from the 2021 PRC List

Parents must be aware that it is their responsibility to ensure that reading records are entered onto the PRC website, using the student’s Department of Education (DoE) username and password. Teachers of K-2 stu-dents will be able to provide these usernames and passwords on SeeSaw if required. Students in Years 3 to 6 should visit the library if they are unsure of their username and password. Teacher Librarians are unable to enter reading records online, due to the large number of students participating. If you do not have internet access, students can visit the library before school or at lunchtime to log their reading. It is recommended the students keep an accurate paper record on their Reading Log.

Online registration is now open. All completed Student Reading Records must be submitted online by Friday, 20th August, 2021.

The website address is : https://products.schools.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html

Students enter their DoE username and password. The password is the child’s name with a full stop on the middle (no spaces). Sometimes there is a number at the end e.g. sarah.jones27. The students use this same username and password each time they logon to a computer at school.

Follow these steps to order:

• Tick the box for the package being ordered. • Tick the box for payment method. • If paying by cash, please enclose the correct payment as change is not available. • Credit card payments can only be processed online by going to www.theschoolphotographer.com.au or

• If combining payments for more than one child, please complete the ‘combined payments’ box on the envelope and ensure each child’s individual envelope is returned.

Parents wishing to have their children photographed together, should collect a family/sibling envelope from the School Office. Please note that online payments for sibling orders are closed by 8.30am on photo day and phone orders are not available for sibling payments on photo day.
