President’s Post
Dear Members,
The Board had a busy July with Board Orienta on/Training, ge ng our two new Board members up to speed, reviewing member input on new and proposed rules, and reviewing plans for Club expansion.
If you were not able to a end the June Board mee ng, the architectural firm Mogavero Notes ne Associates presented the dra plans/op ons for Club expansion to the Board. Three op ons were presented.
The first op on is the baseline op on, which focuses on repairs and maintenance of the exis ng building and site, with no addi onal infrastructure, and the comple on of the bathrooms at the Cove Cafe.
The second op on includes everything in the baseline op on plus improvements to the gym and event kitchen, an HVAC upgrade, and other site improvements.
The third op on includes everything in the second op on and addresses the full expansion plan by adding a recrea on room, increasing the gym, aerobic room and event spaces, adding storage space, and looking more in depth at sustainability.
It is very exci ng to see the possible expansion of the Club coming to frui on; to see actual drawings and get a be er idea of what op ons will go out for a vote of the members! If you are interested in seeing the presenta on in its en rety, please go to the website, h p://www.natomaspark.com/ResourceCenter/, where you will find the documents. The dra ed architectural drawings are also currently at the club for your viewing pleasure. Check ‘em out!
Now the Board, in conjunc on with the Club Construc on Improvement Advisory Commi ee (CCIAC), will be reviewing these documents and making changes to ensure the next steps and any revisions are ready for final drawings. There will be another presenta on to the Board on Thursday, August 13, 6:30 PM at the Club with updated documents, so please join us!
The Board recently approved the revised Club Rules a er the required 30 day member review and comment period. We received and reviewed all of the comments pertaining to these rules, and we do listen to your input. There have been many who are concerned about what used to be called the “Adult Spa” now being open to all children over the age of four and that this will change what used to be a quiet spa for adults into a play area for children and teens. Due to legal precedent regarding age discrimina on, the Club, although private, cannot disallow use of any part of the facility to members based on age; it can only limit usage for health and safety reasons. Because of this, the Board approved the change in the Club rules for the lap pool and for the spas. There are, however, specific uses for these areas, and those will be enforced.
A new policy to help enforce street parking in the community also went through its 30 day member review and comment period, which ended in early July. Parking on the street is not allowed at any me, day or night (CC&R Sec on 8.06: Street Parking), and must be enforced by the Board. Because this is the most difficult sec on in our CC&R’s to enforce, a subcommi ee of two Board members, created a policy to make it easier and more cost effec ve to gain compliance. At the July 22nd Board mee ng, these new rules for parking enforcement were reviewed and voted on. If you did not a end, you may visit the Website Resource Center at www.natomaspark.com or contact Associa on Management for more informa on. The Communica ons Commi ee, Management, and the Board are working to communicate answers and informa on regarding the policy as well as ques ons and concerns members submi ed. I know the CC&R’s are not rive ng reading, but I encourage members to read through them to be er understand what is and is not allowed in our community.
As Board members, we want your feedback and encourage you to a end the Board and commi ee mee ngs as another avenue to learn more about what is happening in your community. Board mee ngs occur the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:30 PM at the Club. You can also check out page 10 of this newsle er for the August Calendar of Events.
With the warmer temps, cool pools, great food, and Friday Happy Hours in full swing, I hope you are taking
advantage of your Club and are enjoying your summer!

V . 16 I 8 August 2015
Message from the Community Manager by Brandon Whitlow
As you may or may not know, Natomas Park is coming up on its sixteenth birthday! Unfortunately me has not
been kind to some of the fences and homes in the community. As I drive around Natomas Park, I see fences and gates that are in need of replacement, repair, pain ng and/or repain ng. I also see a number of homes that are in need of repain ng.
Please refer to CC&R Sec on 9.01: "Each Owner shall provide exterior maintenance upon the residence and other building structures within his or her Lot, as follows: paint, repair, replacement and care of front, rear and side yard landscaping, roofs,
gu ers, downspouts, chimney, walls, walkways, driveways, windows, doors, pa o, exterior building surfaces and elements and other exterior improvements..."
Natomas Park has one approved paint color for all exterior fences. The approved color is SW‐3025 Caribou and can be purchased at any Sherwin Williams store. Even be er, Sherwin Williams has offered to give a 30% discount on the SW‐3025 Caribou paint to all Natomas Park residents. The closest Sherwin Williams loca on is 1200 Del Paso Rd #120, Sacramento, CA 95834. To receive the
30% discount, simply let the salesperson know you are a homeowner in Natomas Park Master Associa on. When it comes to the exterior paint schemes for homes, the Associa on does not have the original colors used by the builder, but
members wishing to repaint their homes using the same color can match the paint through most paint vendors. Members may also choose from a variety of pre‐approved paint schemes that are available at the management office for members to view.
Please note you do not need to submit a home improvement applica on to repaint fences; however, an applica on is needed to repaint your home. If you wish to use the exis ng color or would like to choose a pre‐approved color scheme for your district, management can approve your applica on within 10 business days. If you would like to use a different color scheme, the
applica on must be reviewed by the Architectural Control Commi ee (ACC). The ACC meets on the third Tuesday of each month and applica ons must be received in the management office 5 days prior to the mee ng to be reviewed.
A copy of the home improvement applica on is available at www.natomaspark.com. The applica on is located in the Architectural Standards & Applica on folder under the Resource Center tab. You can also request a copy of the applica on by sending an email to [email protected].
The repain ng of fences and homes will be strictly enforced in the coming months and it is my hope that members will voluntarily comply prior to no ces being sent. Enforcement hearings are not an enjoyable occasion for anyone, but are necessary in a empt
to bring members into compliance. As the community manager of Natomas Park, it is my duty to enforce the governing documents in an effort to maintain property values and ensures that the community remains a beau ful place to live for years to come.
Please take a few moments to join Nextdoor.com. This is a private neighborhood site that allows for improved community connec on and communica on with the Sacramento Police Department. The Lieutenant for Natomas Park is Charles Husted. He can be reached at [email protected].

August is a wonderful me of the year for the
Club! Summer is in full swing with many ac vi es for your enjoyment. We have Bingo Night, Family
Movie Night and The Fes val of India to name a few. What an exci ng me to enjoy the ameni es your club has to offer. With summer club usage at its peak, please be respec ul to the property and people which are your neighbors. Club rules are here for safeguards and we ask that you obey all direc ons of the club staff. Our club is truly a gem and I think you will agree our rules help promote safety and enjoyment for everyone.
Pool Monitor Spotlight!
I wanted to take this me to highlight our very own pool monitor Michaela Mellor whom joined us late April of this year. She is currently one of our star pool monitors for the summer season. Michaela has been a member of the Club
since the summer of 2001 when she and her family moved into the area. Michaela learned to swim in the lower spa as a four year old and went on to spend every summer swimming in the pools and enjoying all the Club has to offer. She was here for the changes involving the addi on of the Cove and renova ons to the lagoon pool. Michaela has been an ac ve member of the Natomas community including a ending local schools such as Heron and Natomas Charter School Performing and Fine Arts Academy. She graduated from Natomas Charter this year with the class of 2015 and plans to a end Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall majoring in Child Development and minoring in Technical Theater.
In addi on to working at the Club, Michaela o en spends her mornings volunteering at a nearby preschool that specializes in working with children who have special needs. The opportunity to work with children and get to know so many more Natomas Park community members has allowed for Michaela to get
even closer to her goal of teaching. While having been a member since the age of four Michaela remembers past pool monitors reminding her to walk, to throw the ball only on the grass, and to always safely jump into the pool. Due to Michaela’s posi on as a member and employee, she has taken on a great apprecia on for enforcing club rules and Club opera ons. Michaela is excited to get to know many more members, feel free to stop by her sta on and say hello!

Trees…. Alive and Well or Dead and Dying
Walk and Bike!
Studies have shown that students who walk and bike to school are more alert in class, as well as have higher physical ac vity levels throughout the day and reduced stress levels. The North Natomas TMA is proud to sponsor walk and bike to school programs in North Natomas for these reasons, along with the many other benefits such as reduced school traffic, be er air quality and a healthier community, just to name a few. NNTMA’s Walk to School program provides incen ve to students who commute to school by the power of their own two feet. Volunteers greet students as they walk, bike, skate, and scoot to campus each program day. Lower grade students earn a new charm each week to add to their collec on, while upper grade students earn prizes in the Trip Scanner program. Of course, the greatest incen ve is the be erment of the community, environment, and personal health. Fire up your feet and join the movement today! For a list of par cipa ng schools and volunteer opportuni es visit NNTMA.org.

We all have trees in our front yards, right? Every home in Natomas Park should have at least one tree in their front yard. The City of Sacramento or the Builder of each home planted them, at the beginning of Natomas Park me. Sort of like a fairy tale, some mes things go wrong and take an unforeseen direc on. There were foreclosures on many proper es that le the landscape and trees starved for water and a en on. And then, there is the drought which has taken its toll on the landscape and trees. But, the moral of the story is we have to take care of what we have and replenish it when a tragedy happens, like broken or overgrown limbs, a dead and/or dying tree.
Some of our homes are beau fully manicured, trimmed and maintained. For those of us who work hard to keep our homes up to the community standards, your neighbor’s thank you and appreciate what you contribute. We have seen over the years a diminishing number of trees in the front landscape. It may be that a tree has created a problem that a homeowner needs to remedy or it has simply died (for no apparent reason). These things happen. When something happens to your trees, they must be replaced. A plan of ac on needs to be communicated to the HOA. It is not enough to simply remove the tree (for whatever reason). Our trees are an important part of this community. They keep our homes cooler, provide shade and clean our air.
So, let’s all do our part. Trim those trees that are overgrown with branches so low that someone over the age of five can’t walk
under or street signs can’t be seen. Remove dead trees and other dead plant material in and around our homes. If you are
planning to remove and/or replace landscape materials that are not, like for like, you must first submit a Home Improvement
Applica on to NPMA. If you are wai ng for a be er me of year to replace a tree, you can submit an
applica on now for future work. Once an applica on is approved, members have 3 months to start a project
and 6 months to finish. We need to know that you are aware the trees need to be replaced a er removal. The
forms can be located online at the Natomas Park website www.natomaspark.com or at the management
office. If you need help understanding what is needed, please contact the office at 916‐925‐9200 or
