What was the Samaritan woman looking for in those six men? Pope Benedict XVI wrote that “the woman is made aware of what in actuality she has

always known but to which she has not always adverted: that she thirsts for life itself and that all

the assuaging that she seeks and finds cannot slake this living, elemental thirst…. There comes to light the real dilemma, the deep-seated waywardness, of

her existence: she is brought face to face with herself.” What brings this about is an encounter with Jesus. Pontius Pilate will declare: “Behold the man!” From our own living and elemental

thirst, like the woman at the well, we do just that, giving ourselves to the one who in his thirst

(“I thirst!”) asks us for a drink. We are certain that at last we will “have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Our “hope does not disap-

point.” We will not die in our thirst. The Lord is in our midst. Finally satisfaction can happen;this is the Love we have been waiting for.”

DIOCESE OF PALM BEACH NOTIFICATION

DIOCESE OF PALM BEACH CONTINUES TO MONITOR DEVELOPMENTS RELATED TO CORONAVIRUS

March 3, 2020

Although there are currently no known outbreaks or local infections in the area of the Diocese of Palm Beach, the diocese continues to closely monitor the developments related to coronavirus (COVID-19). Protocols for medical emergencies are reviewed and updated as necessary in compliance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health.

Please take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of respiratory infection. The CDC suggests such ac-tions as avoid close contact with people who are sick; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; stay home when you are sick; cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash; clean and disin-fect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe; and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Precautions that parishes that can employ, at the pastor’s discretion, include the temporary suspension of 1) the minor chalices used for the distribution of the Precious Blood, 2) the communal Sign of Peace (kissing or shak-ing of hands) and, 3) the greeting before Mass. Parishes may also empty the holy water fonts at the church doors and can encourage the use of anti-bacterial soap by the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion before and after distribution of the host. Also, parishioners may choose not to hold hands during the recitation/chanting of the Our Father. It is still left to the discretion of the communicant how they wish to receive the Host. As the dis-tribution of Holy Communion involves contact with both the mouth and hands, any Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion who feels uncomfortable distributing Communion should be allowed to temporarily step down from ministry.

It is important to remember, if you are sick, you are encouraged to stay home. A Diocese of Palm Beach Tele-vised Catholic Mass ministry is available for the community if you are not able to attend Mass. The Televised Catholic Mass can be found on CW34 at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday, on www.DiocesePB.org or on Facebook at @DiocesePB.

In addition, the Diocese of Palm Beach Office of Catholic Schools continues to monitor developments related to coronavirus and as always, upholds the safety of the Diocese of Palm Beach faculty, staff, students and families as a top priority. Updates regarding how coronavirus could impact the schools of the Diocese of Palm Beach can be found on www.DiocesePBSchools.org or on the Office of Catholic School’s Facebook, Instagram and Twit-ter accounts @DoPBCatholicSchools.

The Diocese of Palm Beach will continue to address concerns related to coronavirus, including promoting awareness and initiating additional responses if necessary. Updates regarding how the COVID-19 could affect parishes and schools in the diocese can be found at www.DiocesePB.org and on the diocese’s Facebook page @DiocesePB. Please also join us in praying for all those who are affected by this outbreak.

Theme of Retreat ~ “Eucharist:Blessed & Broken ~ Shared & Sent”

The most inspiring grace concerning our Catholic faith is how we gather around the sacred altar of Christ to be strengthened by him in the beauty and miracle of the

Eucharist. He is who united us. He is who loves us and strengthens us in our time of need and in moments of thanksgiving.

Words cannot express this great mystery and at times we call it “The Lord’s Supper” because it started at the supper Jesus ate with his disciples the night before He died.We say it is the “Blessed Sacrament” because we thank God for the blessings of our

world, lives and what we have received through Jesus Christ.

The Spiritual Center is a place where learning, rest, healing and fellowship can touch our lives. We look forward to welcoming you to this “holy ground”. Retreats offer us a time for quiet, rest and spiritual

growth. During a retreat one will experience mass and sacraments, there also are meaningful discussions and thought-provoking presentations and workshops on our theme.

The Retreat will be held March 20th through March 22nd. The retreat is at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center at 1300 US Hwy One in North Palm Beach. If you are interested in attending please contact: Nora Miclat, M.D. at 561-339-6748, [email protected]. Or fill out the registration form at www.ourladyofflorida.org.

Through his heroic masculinity and courage, St. Jo-seph protected Our Lord, With Whom we become One Flesh by receiving the Holy Eucharist. As St.

Paul says, the Church is the Body, and Christ

is the Head. There-fore, as Protector of the Holy Church and as your spiritual fa-ther, St. Joseph will protect you as he protected Our Lord, especially during these most difficult times.St. Joseph loves Our Lord and Our Lady with more love than any oth-er human being ever will. During his earthly life, he provided for them, protected them, cherished them, suffered for them, and even died in their holy presence.Let us ask our spiritual father to love Our Lord and Our Lady as he

did so that he may empower us to fight

bravely for their honor.

This prayer, known as St. Joseph’s Blessing, cap-tures what probably would have been his feelings in

its expression of great love for his divine Foster Child:

May the poverty of my sweet and suffering little Child be your riches. His sighs and His tears the consolation of your days. The love of His adora-

ble Heart your earthly treasure, your all. And the clear vision of His adorable and glorified human-

ity be your eternal joy and recompense. Amen

S t. Joseph’s Day is a beautiful feast, March 19th, one that is beloved and cherished by Catholics

around the world. St. Joseph is one of the most pow-erful intercessors of all the Saints, second on-ly to Our Blessed Mother herself. Our Lord wants you to experience the caring interces-sion and paternal protection of his most-loving spiritu-al father St. Joseph in the midst of your struggle to carry your own cross. We know this be-cause of these titles bestowed on St. Joseph by the Cath-olic Church: Terror of Demons, Comfort to the Afflicted, Hope of the Sick, Patron of the Dy-ing, and Protector of the Holy Church. How did St. Joseph earn these titles? When Herod sent his men after Our Lord who at the time was only an infant, St. Joseph protected Him and the Blessed Mother by leading them into Egypt. The path led them across a perilous dry desert filled with bandits, but St. Joseph, the most masculine of saints persevered, trusted in God's grace, and protected his family.Through his masculine virtues he cultivated all his life, St. Joseph, a mere mortal man, a simple Jewish laborer from Nazareth, conquered his invisible de-monic enemies who whispered in Herod's ear. There-fore, as the Terror of Demons and as your spiritual father, St. Joseph will stand with you in your daily battles and defeat your spiritual enemies.

“Did you know that Our Lord wants His Most Holy Spiritual Father St. Joseph

to be Your Father as Well?”

Catechism Question ~ The Ten Commandments

438. What importance does the Church give to the Decalogue?

The Church, in fidelity to Scripture and to the example of Christ, acknowledges the primordial importance and significance of the Decalogue. Christians are obliged to keep it.

Is the “abortion pill” safe? NO! Any chemical that is strong enough

to kill a baby can certainly affect or-gans and healthy tissues in the mother. It

can also affect the mother psychologically when she one day realizes she was the direct instrument of her baby’s death. For the love of God and His babies, choose life!

Our culture is confused, lost, and misguided, and mainstream media is causing a great

divide with no sign of stopping. While standing up to mainstream media, social

media, and Big Tech giants might feel like a losing battle, the truth is ~ you are not alone.

Though you probably can’t prevent violence against pro-life activists, cover-up of abuse, or the censorship of life and family values, you can be more informed on the issues and more confident

in defending your beliefs. The truth is, we can’t afford to be silent.

The cost is too great. When you read the news, you face the reality of just how far the anti-life and anti-family agendas have gone. Take action as a culture-changer to

turn the tide on life and family issues. We must shine a light in the darkness. More anti-life and anti-family laws will be passed. Parental rights will be stripped. Activists will continue the violence. More children will be “transitioned” to the opposite gender, and conservative views will be silenced like never before. This insanity will continue to be ignored by mainstream media, politicians will celebrate it, and churches will succumb to it. It’s clear the culture of death is

alive and well, and there is a great cost to you if you choose to sit on the sidelines. We cannot af-

ford to be silent now. We can win the battle!Join Pro-Life Today, Vote Pro Life!

Devotions to Our Blessed Mother

The eyes of peacemakers are watchful, caring eyes and their fellow wayfarers find warmth in them like people at the fireside.

They never find a motive for fighting because they know that they are only accountable for peace and peace is not preserved through battles.

They know that dividing a single atom can unleash cosmic warfare. They also know that there is a chain that links human beings together and that when one human cell is torn by anger, jealously or bitterness,

the reaction of war can rebound to the end of the universe. But because they believe in spreading love, they know that whenever

a little peace is created, there is planted a virus of peace that is strong enough to infect the whole earth.

So they live and move in a twofold joy: ~ that of bringing peace wherever they go;

~ that of hearing an ineffable voice saying “Father” in the depths of their hearts.

~ Venerable Madeleine Delbrel ( 1964)
