This Tuesday, December 19, 2017, will be a great day for our Diocese of Orange. The Mass of Episcopal Ordina-tion for Bishop Thomas Thanh Thai Nguyen will be held at St Columban Church at 10 am. With joy, we give praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father in sending us this new auxiliary Bishop for our Diocese. Together with all of our Fathers, Deacons, Religious, Mrs. Alvarado, our Principal and the entire Church and School, we congratulate our New Auxiliary Bishop Thomas and pray that the Lord will grant him love, peace, wis-dom and joy as he , together with Bishop Kevin Vann, leads our Diocese here in Orange. Parish Census Update

To date, we have received over 3,750 household responses. This has truly been a blessing!

Please continue to send in your census cards by either mailing them back or dropping them off at our Parish

Office. Your responses are very important to us and our census project.

Greatly appreciating your assistance as we continue to work in updating our parish household database.

New Parish Office Procedure Security Entrance

Dear Parishioners,

As many of you have seen in the past few months, various local communities have been affected by domestic violence situa-tions. Churches have also been targeted.

In order to protect our clergy, as well as our staff, we have elected to secure our Parish Office entrance during operating hours. Beginning January 1st, our entry doors will be locked. All parishioners will be required to ring for entry.

A new camera and entry button have been installed on the left side of the door for this purpose. All visitors will be asked to sign in during their visit to tracking all activity. We trust that this new procedure will enable our operations to function with-out any apparent danger or placing anyone in harm.

We ask your understanding and patience as we implement this new procedure. More information will be shared in the coming month.

Respectfully, Deacon Bill Weeks Business Services Manager

QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCD’S) FROM AN IRA

If you are over 70½ and taking distributions from and IRA, you may want to consider making a charitable donation to St. Cecilia through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

QCD’s can be counted towards satisfying your required mini-mum distributions (RMD’s) for the year.

A QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact on certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare.

Consult your tax advisor to determine if making a QCD to St. Cecilia is appropriate for your situation.
