The MultiBoot Standard is the basic and serves as a goodgeneral-purpose choice. The plastic backbone is tough ABSinjection-molded plastic. Includes fittings for an optional toeextender to keep heavy blankets off the feet. An optionaloutsole fitting for limited ambulation attaches to the distalend of the backbone. An anti-rotation bar swivels intoposition and folds back into its storage position.The heel area is ballooned out to prevent heel contact.

Turnbuckle splintsThe gentle progressive application of a static force is aneffective method of contracture reduction. Turnbucklesplints offers a convenient, proven, time-tested way toprogressively reduce a contracture by the application of aseries of static force steps. The treatment is always underthe control of the healthcare professional working with thepatient to optimize results.Turnbuckles were used 75 years ago in combination with

cumbersome plaster cast components. AliMed simplyupdated the materials to a lightweight plastic shell andoffers it in off-the-shelf, instant fitting convenience.The turnbuckle is set to the contracture by simply rotating

a knurled knob. The force on the contracture isincrementally increased by twisting the knob. As thecontracture is reduced, the force naturally lessens. A fewtwists and force is again increased. Ankle, wrist, knee andelbow versions are available.All the shells are made from heat-formable Kydex should

custom fitting be necessary. Gentle heating with a heat gunis suggested. They are lined with a 1⁄8" closed cell, wipe-clean foam cushion.

How does it work?Positioning a severely contracted hand isextremely challenging. Prying thefingers open is difficult and cancause severe pain to the patientand injury to the hand. TheFREEDOM® Carrot OrthosisSystem by AliMed is the first of itskind to offer an alternative to forciblyprying open contracted fingers. The loopat the small end of the Carrot allows the caregiver tocomfortably pull the orthosis into the hand with theconvenient “magic wand” placement tool. The conical shapeof the Carrot allows for gradual opening of the fingers. The

fingers are gently and progressivelyopened as the orthosis is introduced.

The Carrot is simple to use. First,the smaller end of the Carrot isslipped into the hand. As thetension begins to relax, the orthosiscan be pulled gently into the hand,

allowing further opening of thefingers. The Carrot opens the hand

enough to allow for easier hygiene and improves tolerancefor a more traditional hand splint. Every Carrot hasgraduated markings so you can accurately measure patientprogress.
