Welcome

And when you need to take a break from the action, we encourage you to visit our life and business coaches (in our Coaching Corner) who will provide you with personal advice. Or, visit our Wellness Lounge where you will learn how to truly become more mindful. Our meditation expert will teach you some amazing breathing techniques. Trust me, they work!

Can ConneCting be the key?Connect. Disconnect. Be social. Be mindful. Be more. Do more. Wait, do less?

The expectations on us as meeting professionals continue to grow daily. Emails are waiting. The phone is ringing. At every turn we are supposed to be getting more out of our lives, both personally and professionally. And, honestly I am not sure that’s possible, while continuing to be our ‘authentic selves.’

And here we are throwing gasoline on the fire encouraging you to ‘Grow your Connections’ at IncentiveWorks. Trust me, this offer is not meant to pour more on you; it’s actually designed to help you do less. Over the next two days I’m hoping you meet some new people, rekindle some old relationships and strengthen the great ones you have. That way, when you need an ace up your sleeve you’ll have a whole new crop of great connections to lean on. Take this time to explore the entire show — there are so many new companies and services in the marketplace that you can meet rather than spending hundreds of hours researching them online later.

Use IncentiveWorks as your research hub for ideas, products, partners...and connections. Meet as many new people as you can. You never know what your stakeholders may ask of you next — being prepared is half the battle!

IncentiveWorks appreciates the importance of doing what you

can to give back to our local and global communities. In 2012, IncentiveWorks featured an

influential speaker, Scott Harrison, the Founder of charity: water.

Scott inspired the crowd with his story of how charity: water was

developed by taking an interest in a well-known cause, the

worldwide water crisis, then utilizing his innovative marketing techniques which he developed

while working as an event promoter in New York City.

Since charity: water was founded in 2006 it has gained global

recognition and inspired the world to donate. Even celebrities are getting in on the action, giving

up their birthdays in lieu of donations to the cause.

www.charitywater.org

over the past three years, incentiveWorks has donated

$22,175 cdn to provide communities in developing countries access to clean and safe drinking water.

once again, incentiveWorks is proud to support charity: water and will donate $25 from every ticket purchased for the closing

Party to this worthy cause.

Requests for Proposals (RFPs) are the primary tool that buyers use to express requirements for an incentive trav-el experience. The re-sponse to the RFP is the supplier’s opportunity to demonstrate how they can fulfill these requirements and provide a memorable solution for the buyer’s community of qualifiers. In this session, attendees will explore both sides of this process, considering best practices in both developing RFPs and in responding to them and learn more about special considerations. This ses-sion is appropriate for sales profession-als, buyers, and brokers who have more than five years of experience in the In-centive Travel industry.

When you’re planning an event, you get a lot of emails. And keeping things organized, espe-cially when you get busy, can be stressful. But it doesn’t have to be. Pro-ducing an event is much like managing a project, so why not capitalize on project

management platforms already out there to help us get organized, communicate more effectively and collaborate with our internal and external teams? Easy-to-use project management platforms such as Basecamp, Planning Pod and OneLobby can help tremendously. In this session, we’ll delve into a few of these platforms, and show you how you can customize them to best suit your (and your team’s) needs, and transform the way you plan your next event.

In order to progress your career and ensure that you continue to be a val-ued member within your organization—especially if there is a structured meeting management program in place—you need to do more than successfully manage a meetings department. You must challenge your-self, expand your skills and evolve from management to strategic director, and that’s not always as instinctive and effort-less as it seems. Learn how to develop a road map to purposefully achieving the next level in your career path. Through individual and group exercises, examine core competencies required to demon-strate that you are qualified to move up to the role of meeting director.

competencies for a director-level position, and compare those to your current skills

Branding has long been relegated to companies, but today every sales-person has a personal brand. While not many of us have consciously cultivated these brands, they exist nonetheless. Whether you are a seasoned veteran, a young professional, work for a large cor-poration or run your own shop, your per-sonal brand is critical to your success. It is not only about being on the latest social platform, it is about designing and man-aging a plan that allows you to be a part of the conversation. The question is no long-er if you have a personal brand, but if you choose to guide and cultivate the brand or let it be defined on your behalf. The conversation is happening, the question is — are you invited? In this session you will learn tips and techniques on how you can grow and maintain a great personal brand through a credible web presence and a well thought out strategy.

We all do it. And so do the people around us — our co-workers, clients, friends. In fact, studies show

that people encounter anywhere from 10-200 lies a day. But what if you could spot a liar? Pamela

Meyer’s mission is to help people get to the truth. Extensively trained in the use of visual cues and

psychology to detect deception, Meyer teaches audiences how to go from lie-spotting to truth-seeking

to trust-building. A certified fraud examiner, Meyer reveals which personality types lie, how deception is

expressed in email, on the phone, and in person, and how to detect deception through body language.

Learn how you can gain the upper hand and close deals that last by mastering deception detection

techniques. In a multimedia presentation featuring real-life examples and scientific findings, Meyer

keeps her audience laughing while they learn and presents a path toward trust that emphasizes

integrity, maturity, and the importance of having difficult conversations during difficult times.
