Significant outreach Research Contribution(s) I am engaged in the research related to different topics in area of Technical Textile since last 12 years.

Mainly my projects are focusing on product development and enhancing performance of products by

applying finishes or by value addition for Technical Textile Application. Some of my projects done are

highlighted below.

Developed Commingling Machine

• The most significant work has been done in Major project on “Commingled hybrid yarns for

thermoplastic composite”. Under this project the commingling machine developed as shown in fig and

new types of hybrid yarns for production of Thermoplastic Composite has been developed. These

thermoplastic products are recyclable and also due to "soft" and drapeable preforms can mould in

required shape in one step process, which help in shaping the composite products.

• This project was my Ph.D work for which I have awarded Career Award for Young Teachers and

project also nominated under Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Award by GUJCOST. Presently I am working on

properties of different hybrid yarns like Glass/PP. Glass/PET, Basalt/PP, Basalt/PET and doing

modification in Nozzle Design and machine as per material requirements.

• Some work in area of conductive Textiles and its application. Under this studied different aspects of

electrical characteristics of conductive textiles and another work on Value addition in apparel fabric as

well as Handicraft item using stainless steel filaments for enhancing performance. On this topic three

paper presented in international conference. Also developed Hand gloves using fabric sensor for sign

language console.

• Two projects on Medical Textile to enhance the performance of products using Nano finishes. The

work done on “Global Warming Demands Nano-Uv Protective Finish on Apparel Fabric Need for

Health Protection”. This project was done to see the effect of nano finish on fabrics use in daily wear

and how UV protection finish helps in preventing health and skin problem has been highlighted and

studied. The second work on “Studies on performance of Suture using Natural Finish”. In this work Textile yarns use for wound closer has been finished using Alovera gel coating along with Silver

Nano particles to improve the healing properties.

• The work in area of Geo synthetics mainly focusing on Ground water recharge system and fabrication

of Geo-composite for Vertical Drainage.

• Presently I have visited Mauritius under UGC-TEC program as Visiting Scholar. During that I have

involved in ongoing PhD Under this project I have visited RT Knits for case study and developed

website for promotion. Also involved in new course formation on “Sustainable Product Design” and

now the name of “Department Textile Technology” changed to “Department of Applied Sustainability

and Enterprise Development”.

• Presently involve in two projects on “Acoustic properties of Textile Material” and “Studies on Glass

Preform Behavior in GRP Laminates”
