walks outside of main roads • Lack of beautified

downtown area. • Lack of benches on trails • Lack of lighted paths at

night • Lack of linkages between

neighborhoods. (Specific example: need a pedestrian connection from Melody Lane to the bridge at the end of Lincoln Street.)

• Lack of sidewalks in all neighborhoods

• Main street and Verona Ave intersection. I avoid it.

• Many of my trips involve heavy stuff, like groceries

• More designated crosswalks near the schools on Main St.

• My neighborhood does not have sidewalks. I don’t want to pay to put them in. The street is wide enough. The hazard is speeding cars or people not paying attention. I walk against traffic and have had to jump onto the curb more than once because I was afraid I would get hit.

• My neighborhood recently became more connected to the city of Verona with sidewalks and paths (Scenic Ridge

neighborhood). I know some families in Westridge feel it is far too dangerous for their children to walk to school or downtown Verona crossing Nine Mound Rd.

• Na • Needing to cross major

roads with cars • Neighborhoods without

sidewalks, especially where there is a mix of sidewalks and no sidewalks, so that sometimes you have a sidewalk to walk on or let small kids walk on for a few blocks and then you reach neighborhoods where the sidewalks are gone. The weird bike lanes that were put in on streets like Basswood did NOT help, since they seem oddly wide and placed strangely, making the street seem too narrow for cars, who are ALWAYS driving into them when passing other cars. This is especially the case on Hemlock. Also, even if kids walk and bike in those lanes, they are still walking and biking in the street and not on a sidewalk. Separately - another barrier is lack of interesting places to walk to, in terms of businesses.

• No barriers • No barriers • No barriers other than my

own ambition. • Non I feel I have good

access • None • None • None • Not enough disc golf

courses. I get my walking done there.

• Not enough good restaurants to walk to

• Nothing • Nothing • Often have to run/walk on

street due to icy sidewalks • Pedestrian safety in Verona

is an embarrassment • People do not clear their

sidewalks in the winter in

the Westridge neighborhood.

• People not obeying traffic laws

• Public restrooms and benches for sitting to rest

• Reckless driving and excessive speed of traffic in neighborhoods and around major crosswalks. Not enough local PSA’s and resident education on these issues.

• Residents drive too fast • Safety at night • safety on bike trail • Self motivation • Sewer construction

closed/impaired bridge use • Sidewalk on n nine mound.

Or traffic circles • sidewalks not cleared of

snow, or blocked by clearing roads and driveways.

• sidewalks stop and end in areas due to poor planning

• Snow and ice • Son has special needs and

sidewalk condition can be tough some places

• Speeds to fast on country roads.

• Street lights • Stroads, poorly designed

suburbs for safe walking. Need better public transport to accommodate walking.

• Takes less time to just drive, rather than to walk

• The downtown intersection at Main and Verona is awful to cross, with kids especially. Everything is there!

• The lack of sidewalks for children walking to school is a safety issue. Neighbors do not clear their sidewalks of snow and ice for weeks at a time in the winter and the city does nothing about it

• The mobile on the corner of Main across from Park Bank is a real deal breaker for that area in terms of walking and accessibility to businesses

• There are no sidewalks in my immediate

neighborhood and I find with my small children I am not walking as much as I would otherwise or hiking as much. (Kids are 0-6 yes old and we love on Aspen ave)

• There is nothing to walk to i.e good restaurants/coffee/shopping

• Too many road crossings because sidewalk is only on one side. This leads us to cross and then eventually have to cross back again on busy streets.

• Town is divided by the 2 busy roads going through the middle.

• Traffic ignores cross walks • Trying to cross M and

Verona Ave • Typically when I go to

stores I buy things and I am not going to carry them home on the walk.

• Usually what I have to carry • Vehicles speeding • Verona is very walker

friendly • Verona Trail along Nine

Mound is a tick and burr mess. Great idea but apparently a maintenance burden?

• We generally only walk there are sidewalks for leisure if we can help it.

• Weather • Weather • Worried about kids crossing

main streets downtown • Would like to see

connection from nine mound rd sidewalk/trails to surrounding trails

• Younger kids. 7. What do you see as barriers to biking more within the community? Select all that apply.

• As anove • Bike frequently without a

destination (work, stores, restaurants)

• Bike lanes full of debris • Bike purchase is a future

plan • Bike trails needing repairs

• Busy schedule • City set up for cars • Connect Verona to

Madison down Woods Rd • Crossing main streets • Do not bike • Don’t bike • Don’t like bikes • Don’t own a bike • Don’t want to • dont bike • don't bike • Don't have a bike • Epic traffic concerns me

on Cross Country for my kids on bikes.

• For kids, too much bike traffic to bike with small kids

• Hard to find parking AND don't feel safe with the amount of traffic downtown with my children

• Health issues • Hills--you can't help that! • I • I 100% prefer off road

bike paths. • I am not in physical shape

to bike. • I bike the trails, and they

are well kept within the city limits.

• I do not like to bike. • I don’t bike • I don’t bike • I don’t have a bike • I don’t have a bike • I don't bike • I don't bike anymore • I don't bike. • I don't like biking • I don't own a bicycle • I don't ride a bike. • I don't see barriers • I feel I have good access • I find Verona very bit

able. Sure, less traffic would always be sweet, but I much appreciate the work done to provide trails and lanes

• I just avoid busy streets. Plenty of options.

• I live by epic, and during “rush hour” times, traffic is not acceptable

• I ride on the roads, but PROTECTED bicycle

lanes where there is a physical divide would help us be more comfortable bicycling as a family. Specifically Verona from new HS to the bicycle path at the ice rink. Also north south through town 12 from old HS down to fireman’s park.

• I sweat a lot. • It would be nice if more of

the bike path were paved • J • Kids at various ages • Knee injury • Lack of bicycle lanes • Lack of dedicate

connected bicycle paths. • lack of personal

skill/interest in biking • Lack of sidewalks for the

kids • Live in the middle of

nowhere • mainly weather • Military ridge trail is not

plowed during the winter • More bike trails or lanes • Motorists not properly

watching for pedestrians/cyclists

• My disability-can’t bike • My husband gave away

our bicycles a few years ago.

• N. Nine Mound needs bike lanes

• N/a • N/a • N/a • Na • Need connecting bike

paths not on roads, feel unsafe on roads.

• No barriers • no desire to own a bike • No sidewalks • None • None • None • None • None at this time • None, I just don’t bike • Not currently interested in

biking • Not enough good

restaurants to bike to • not much • Ok

• Old bike • On busy streets need

bikelanes, otherwise trails are great.

• Overall no major concerns would be nice to have a bike path on Verona ave but current parking spots work alright

• pave bike path blue mounds

• Pave military ridge trail • People not obeying traffic

laws • Personal desire • personally not interested • places that connect

neighborhoods to the bike paths

• Please put a bike lane on Whalen before someone gets killed and to connect the trails!

• Reckless driving and excessive speed of traffic in neighborhoods and around major crosswalks. My son was hit by a car on his bike last night at a crosswalk due to an inattentive driver.

• required permits • Residents drive too fast • Routes that are not

safe/kid friendly -- the few bike paths are great but venturing off that with kids is less than ideal

• Safety - lack of lighting • Same as above • Same as above • See above • Self motivation • Snow on paved portions

of Military Ridge • Speeding, passing too

close • Takes less time to drive • the access out of my

neighborhood requires either a dangerous highway, busy traffic roads/or a very steep hill

• The weird bike lanes that aren't really safe bike lanes, like on Hemlock.

• There are trails but I would love more clear signage so I know where I’m going

• Too many bikes in the streets not following traffic laws

• Too many children to bring with me

• Too many kids • Too many people on too

few trails & lack of proper trail etiquette

• Too many steep hills. • Town is divided by the 2

busy roads going through the middle.

• Trying to cross M and Verona Ave

• Two giant blocks on each side of N Main St force riders to use the busy downtown intersection. If traffic circles are installed, be sure they accommodate bikes.

• Typically when I go to stores I buy things and I am not going to carry them home on the bike.

• Until recently, had a physical issue preventing me from biking much. Are there even racks to use downtown?

• We have to go over the bridge on Hwy M

• We like biking Military Ridge, but it would be nice if it was paved through Verona to Epic. Biking on gravel is difficult for the kids.

• we live off fitchrona rd- very busy with no sidewalks- feels dangerous

• We love using bike trails more are always welcome

• What u have to carry • Winter and my knees • Winter weather, weather

in general • Would love more trails

dedicated to biking/walking

• Younger kids

8. Is there a specific location or destination in the City of Verona that needs to be improved for bikers/pedestrians to safely travel throughout the community?

• #1 Make Whalen Rd improvements (widen road and/or add trail and sidewalks)to connect to Liberty Drive business park area connecting hotel and business park to the rest of Verona's trail ecosystem then continue these improvements on to Seminole Drive Hwy to connect to Badger State Trail. #2 Recent improvements paved around Verona Beach along M are awesome and can be continued - connect Whalen Rd area along M to Cathedral Point Neighborhood opening up this suburb to Verona's trail system, then pave (or improve) ice age trail south of this area to make it more friendly to use with a bike or running.

• * Snow removal on ice age trail adjacent to badger mill creek (new paved section) would be nice * safer way for pedestrian and bike traffic to cross Hwy M near Sugar River Pizza esp once Costco is built

• 1. No trail from Hwy M to CP/Scenic Ridge. Great trail into East View Heights, but then it ends and doesn't continue across the bridge into Cathedral Point. Also the lack of path down M from Cathedral Point towards Kwik trip and new Costco/Sugar River

Pizza. 2. Redden Soccer Field to the paved path that goes by dog park. The only way to get there is by walking/biking on Cross Country- yikes! 3. Firemans Beach area towards High School - Nine Mile Road is not a bike friendly or foot friendly area, but is a way to the high school and that part of Verona. 4. Pave access trail in East View Heights from Arbor Vitae Place to Ice Age Trail (new paved trail area). It's almost fully accessible to wheelchair and motorized scooter (not to mention stroller, bikes)

• 1. Neighborhood school and walking radius for school district needs sidewalks and separated bike lanes from road

• 1. Paoli St/Bruce St - I see a lot of people bike over in this area to the Military Ridge Trail but I also see a lot of traffic during peak times and sporting events. 2. S Nine Mound Road - I have seen kids walking to school but I don't see any sidewalks. I drive from my house over near Locust and M to the shopping area by the high school. It would be great if this was more connected with walking and biking paths.

• 3 blocks each direction around the main intersection in town.

• 9 mound road • 9 Mounds Road from

Edward to Northern Lights; Edward needs sidewalks for all the walking middle school kids from Westridge neighborhood; section of connecting path from the Norther Lights connecting trail/Epic barns down the steep hill to the Military Ridge Trail needs to be

shoveled so it can be safely accessed in the winter.

• A bike lane off of nine mound would be nice.

• A bike path along old Pb. • A crossing over or under

west Verona/main street intersection to allow for easy crossing

• Access to Military Ridge from Dairy Ridge rd. Lots of houses going up in this area without access to the nearby bike trail.

• across and along Hwy M and Hwy PB

• Across Nine Mounds for Westridge Kids walking to Middle School. Could use a bridge over Verona Ave. to high school.

• Add a lighted crossing at Richard St that's identical to the crossing at the downtown shelter. Then run a path through the community field park. This will result in two alternatives to navigating the Main St/Verona Ave intersection.

• Add sidewalk on nine mound between meister and northern lights connector.

• All areas around elementary schools need to be done first along with areas that are easy to add in sidewalks (for example, in conjunction with a road rebuild).

• All intersections near schools. Sidewalks in all new subdivisions.

• All of main street or downtown Verona, outside of trail path

• ALL of Nine mound Road is incredibly dangerous, particularly the parts adjacent to neighborhoods. A lack of accidents and tragedies is due to extremely diligence on the part of bikers and pedestrians who use and cross that road. I walk, run and bike

there weekly and I assure you that speeding up to 45-50 mph is common.

• All of the streets around the new middle school that don’t have sidewalks. More kids walk to school in middle school and traffic Increased as there aren’t high schoolers driving and parking at school it’s all pickup/drop off.

• Along PB, south of M • Any areas without

sidewalks • Anywhere that doesn’t

have a sidewalk • area between military

ridge and verona ave • Around Epic - west ridge

neighborhood. • Around schools • Better bike paths from

Hawthorne Hills to downtown Verona

• Bike lanes on CR pb turning into the turn lane for automobiles

• Bike lanes on main streets

• Bike Lanes on Verona Ave and Main St

• Bike path right by 151/18 highway.. Military Ridge? Btn Verona and Fitchrona. On weekends, it's better than weekdays with bikers. I feel safer seeing other people on the path.

• Bike trail along Whalen road

• Bike trail needs to be paved within the city of Verona.

• Bike trails need repair. • Bike/pedestrian crossing

on Cross Country Road • Biking around the center

of town is hazardous. I would bike more to local restaurants for lunch if it was safer.

• Cathedral Point to any of the bike trails

• Children from Westridge and Meister neighborhood don't have bussing or sidewalks to

attwnd school at Badger Ridge

• clear weeds at bike trail and Nine Mound Rd.

• Connect nine mound with the northern lights trail to make a loop

• Connecting to Cathedral Point neighborhood

• Connection from Range Trail

• Connectivity from north to south is lacking, and to middle schools. Downtown/high school/firemens is great, but no way to get to north side- library hill not plowed in winter

• Consider more painted bike lanes through downtown. That is a tough and narrow stretch to bike through with a lot of car traffic. The addition of a city pump track would also be nice. Port Washington (smaller city, similar size population) built one about 8 years ago.

• Continued sidewalks and bike paths around Westridge neighborhood and adjacent neighborhoods and streets

• Corner of main and Verona Ave. Main street in general. Cars don't always stop for pedestrian crossing.

• Corridors coming in and out of the downtown area

• County Highway PB • County Road M/Main

Street and Verona Avenue

• Cross Country by the soccer fields, headed towards Fitchburg

• Cross Country Rd • Cross Country Rd

between Country View School & Epic

• Cross Country Rd between Nine Mound and Tamarack Nine Mound from Cross Country to Basswood

• Cross Country Rd is dangerous as a walker or biker due to Epic vehicle traffic

• cross country rd.,east of reddan soccer park

• Cross Country road • Cross country road • Cross country road • Cross country road bike

lane toward epic should be wider. A few of the bridges on military ridge trail are old and have split wood and potholes

• Cross country road light at crossing for bike trail

• Cross Country Road toward Epic

• Cross Country stretch between M intersection and Epic campus

• Cross Country subdivision

• Cross County Rd and County M

• crossing from East View neighborhood to the Library is not super easy, crossing business 151

• Crossing M from range trail.

• Crossing Main Street, biking down Main St and Verona St. I would love to bike more with my 8 year old but traffic is high

• Crossing Nine mound is hard for little ones.

• Crossing Northern Lights in front of Epic, should have a pedestrian light

• Crossing Verona Ave at Franklin is difficult With a car at rush hour. With a bike or walking even more difficult. Similar most cross streets on Verona Ave and M.

• Crossing Verona Ave, commercial business bike parking options, south (industrial area like Sugar River, WI Brewing, etc) needs better/safer access from city for bikers

• Crossing Verona Avenue can be risky with the amount of speeding traffic going through Verona.

• Crossing W Verona Ave between Main & Nine Mound

• Cty Rd M and Range Trl intersection is difficult to cross on foot and biking with the speed of traffic on M.

• Debris on Verona Ave and on Paoli St

• Definitely connecting the Hawthorne Hills/Military Ridge neighborhoods to the area by the Brewing Company and what will be Costco.

• Dont live in verona • downtown • Downtown • Downtown • Downtown - Verona Ave

and Main St • Downtown (4 blocks in

any direction from the intersection of Main and Verona) is too congested from a spatial standpoint. There is no room for cars, bikes and pedestrians to coexist.

• Downtown area • Downtown area • Downtown area by the

bike path and for pedestrians walking to stores and restaurants. Traffics is chaotic being able to see pedestrians or bikes crossing the street is challenging

• Downtown just doesn’t have a draw to hang out

• Downtown main corridors. Pedestrian crosswalks are hidden on Main Street by vehicles parked on street and most vehicles do not stop for Pedestrians to cross. Downtown neighborhoods especially around schools and parks lack sidewalks causing risks to children.

• Downtown needs bike lane and sidewalk

• Downtown needs to be more bike friendly with better separation between traffic and bicyclists.

• Downtown streets- when I get off trail I feel unsafe on main street

• Downtown Verona • Downtown, and to and

from downtown. • Downtown. Intersection of

Main and Verona Av. • Downtown. Neither of the

main roads in/out of downtown (Verona Ave and Main St) have bike lanes.

• Downtown. No lanes and a lot of traffic.

• Downtown. The central intersection is dangerous for pedestrians or bikers.

• East View Heights • Enterpise drive area • Everywhere! Traffic has

gotten so bad and no one(even police) let’s walkers cross roads. I don’t feel Verona is safe as it use to be years ago. I do a lot of walking and walking with daycare kids and sit to cross a road for a long time. And sometimes give up and go a different way

• Family safe biking out to Liberty Dr. and American Way

• Fireman’s park/pond access form the west side of the city needs safe routes for accessing by bike- no on street protection on Paoli St or Nine Mound Rd, and sidewalks are too narrow where present to be shared with pedestrians.

• fitchrona road- please add sidewalks or bike/walking lanes- would be easier to safely access the bike path- esp with small children.

• Flashing lights on Old PB is a huge help for military ridge trail. But keep bikes and pedestrians separate. Paving the road next to badger mill creek was a mistake. Bikes and walkers can’t easily exist. Bikers will always create

a hazard / stress for foot and car traffic.

• from Hawthorn Hills (Tower Park area) to Cathedral Point neighborhood. Also from Hawthorn Hills towards Wisconsin Brewing Company/new Costco

• From Range Trail along highway M into town should have a paved path the entire way.

• From Range Trail onto main street heading into town. No way to bike or walk on SW side of main street when crossing bridge over 151. The intersection has fast traffic and it is on a curve. I dont feel comfortable with my kids biking into town from our neighborhood.

• From the Citgo to Millers is a tough trip.

• Getting through downtown on a bike is somewhat challenging/unsafe.

• Getting to and off Main Street

• Getting to Badger Ridge, Sugar Creek, and the High School. Specifically along Cross Country or Edward Street. Some of Westridge Parkway also doesn't have sidewalks.

• Getting to downtown. • Going down Cty M (or

Whalen) toward Sugar River Pizza & Wi Brewing Co (will only get worse with Costco.) Sidewalks on/near Lincoln Street near festival grounds. Range Trail is a scary place to bike. (Is that a Town road?)

• Going to the new pool at the high school

• Haven't examined the issue.

• Heading south or north on north Nine Mound at Verona Road is often creepy due to heavy

traffic, lack of a sidewalk. Even a mulched path would be welcome. Marked bike lanes implying bike and pedestrian rights of way could be another option. Thanks for asking.

• Hemlock drive needs a sidewalk! Access to the park on Basswood, and walking/biking to the middle school isn't safe with how busy Hemlock gets and no sidewalk. We either need a park closer to Country View Elementary, or safer ways to get to the park on Basswood.

• High school area • Highway M from range

trail to wahlen road. • Hwy M from Range Trail

to Business Industrial Park by Sugar River/Wisconsin Brewing Company

• HWY M headed south from Whalen. The bike trail going north is wonderful, but it's still hard to go the opposite direction if you are on bike or if it's snowy and you don't want to run along the ice age path.

• Hwy M is an obstacle and Main Street isn't bike friendly.

• Hwy PB from Verona Ave. to Hwy. M

• I appreciate the pedestrian controls at the busy trail crossings

• I honestly find it pretty easy to walk around and see lots of bikers too.

• I know this is a Town of Verona issue - but for the sake of the survey - this lack of sidewalks with Epic traffic is my hinderance.

• I live in the neighborhood by the police station. I think where ice age trail crosses Lincoln street should have a little pedestrian crossing. Too many times have bikers

crossed without looking and have almost been hit

• I live in the Raywood neighborhood and I sometimes feel trapped when I bike/walk with my kids. Outside the neighborhood has limited sidewalks for my young kids. Nine mound is especially concerning for me.

• I live on Riverside Rd- we would need a bike path from our home into Town

• I live on the PB/M corridor and the traffic from Range Trail to the new bike path, while short in distance, feels too dangerous, especially to bike with children. I wonder if a light at Range Trail and M would help?

• I love downtown Verona but it is often extremely congested with cars, bikes, and pedestrians. There is little parking to visit the local businesses and it’s very stressful trying to travel the main thoroughfare during peak hours, especially in warmer weather.

• I think M between the retail center with North and South and El Charro by the new Costco to downtown needs some serious work in this area. It would be great to feel safe and secure walking on Whalen over to that area or on M over to that area.

• I wish there was a safe way to cross highway m and get from hawthorn hills neighborhood to the ice age trail parking lot off of M. There are no sidewalks on M if you use the crosswalk at the end of Whalen roas

• I would like a bike lane at the Verona Rd and Main St intersection

• Idk • I'm not really sure what

you can do. When the weather is decent I ride

my bike to epic and then get on the bike path. But anywhere else isn't safe at all. Cars are constant even on roads outside of the city.

• Intersection at main and Verona road. Need to get rid of mobile to increase accessibility and safety. Too much traffic on that corner

• Intersection of Richard and N. Marietta St. for student safety. A cross walk or crossing guard for kids leaving the lot to enter the neighborhood would GREATLY improve child safety and perhaps encourage some parent/older sibling drivers to pay more attention to their surroundings and follow the right of way.

• Intersection of Verona and M.

• Intersection of Westlawn and Verona avenue, and Main Street and Verona Ave.

• Intersections by BRMS, and at Hemlock/CC & Tamarack/CC

• It is difficult to cross Verona Avenue on foot because cars do not yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. It is easier to cross Main Street now that there are flashing lights for pedestrians.

• It would be awesome to have a path that goes towards Mt Horeb (but closer to the soccer fields off Hwy G)

• It would be great if a safe bike path for kids could be made from Scenic Ridge and Cathedral Point Neighborhoods down to the downtown or to the path by fireman's park

• It would be nice to have a much more connected trail/path system throughout the city

• It would be nice to have a paved path on Military

Ridge from Verona to Epic. Epic is a really nice area to bike around, but is difficult for the kids to bike on gravel.

• It would be nice to have the military trail paved.

• it wouldn’t hurt to have a shoulder on country roads. Some drivers don’t understand they need to wait to pass safely.

• Liberty business park on M, crossing Verona Ave, especially by the old Verona school/new Icki Sticki location. Kids crossing the Lincoln Street bridge on bikes and needing to bike down Main Street to Badger Ridge.

• Liberty Drive and Laser Street Wisconsin Brewing Co

• Living off M near the new Costco should require some walking/ biking trails on side of Rd where there is grass & room for a paved rd.

• Locus + M - the angle makes it so people aren't paying attention to the crosswalk going across Locust.

• Lucille st. Right after Harriet park. It’s by a school too and no sidewalks

• M between Range Trail and Locust doesn't have a consistent sidewalk and makes running/walking on that road where the speed limit goes from 35-45 a bit frightening at times

• M near Badger Prairie Park 1. M should have space for cars & a separate safe path (clear of loose gravel and other safety hazards like random metal poles sticking out from the ground) for bikers to connect up the Badger Prairie 2. That whole section should have clear and safe lanes for pedestrians and bikers

coming from town to Reddan to Badger Prairie.

• M needs a sidewalk for the entire stretch.

• Main and Verona Ave • Main downtown lights • Main St • Main St from Cross

Country on south, the entirety of Verona Ave

• main st. area • Main street • Main Street • Main Street • Main Street - narrow

sidewalks and they are not level. More bike friendly lanes along major road areas.

• Main Street (M) • Main street after passing

the Middle School entrance, heading South. West Verona Avenue lack proper bicycle paths, you have to stick to residential areas to get around.

• Main Street and Verona Ave.

• Main street and Verona avenue into downtown do not have enough room for safe biking.

• Main Street between Cross Country and Paoli St is not great for biking.

• Main Street from Verona Ave north to Richard Street. Maple grove drive from old PB/verona Ave intersection to Cross Country/Nesbit intersection

• Main Street lack of lighting beyond ‘downtown’

• Main Street near Miller & Sons, Sow's Ear.

• Main street south of the bike path crossing

• Main Street South of Verona Ave to Paoli Road.

• Main Street, from Paoli Street to Verona Avenue.

• Main Street. From Casey’s to millers

• Maybe to the high school or trail to link to trail in Fitchburg to get to soms

• Military ridge bike path floods in the tunnels and the bridges south of town are missing planks

• Military Ridge bike path needs fixing

• Military Ridge. It floods under the 151 Ramp underpass way to much.

• More marked pedestrian crossings on Main St. between the Main/Verona Ave intersection south to the Military Ridge bike trail. Sidewalks to connect houses/neighborhoods on Nine Mound to the new path on Northern Lights.

• More ways to traverse the city from downtown to north side.

• Most sidewalks on main corridors have trip/fall hazards. Bike/pedestrian lane on Nine Mound

• My suggestion would be to improve the bike and sidewalks around Culvers. A lot of kids bike here during the summer. There should also be more bike racks for all the kids. A sidewalk that connects from the crosswalk area to the Culvers would be ideal, so pedestrians and cyclists don't have to use the driveway to walk or ride their bike since so many cars are also pulling into the restaurant.

• N. Nine Mound from W. Verona Ave to Raywood at least needs to many layers of improvements. The high school has changed traffic patterns and people have ALWAYS speeded. Sidewalk on at least one side? Painted center line and bike/parking lanes like on Edward st ? Small traffic circle or two, maybe by the old Village of Verona Hall?

• n/a • n/a • N/A

recreational spots such as disc golf courses, biking paths, maybe even some off road bike trails.

• Near Reddan soccer park, paths connecting to Ice Age Trail

• Near the new middle school which also happens to be our neighborhood.

• Need sidewalks in neighborhoods around Sugar Creek and Badger Ridge/CKCS schools. Would like more safer ways to cross Verona Ave on foot and bike.

• Need to improve bicycle/ pedestrian routes from south of highway

• Neighborhood around sugar creek/badger ridge

• Neighborhood by badger ridge middle school and cross country subdivision

• Nine mound • Nine Mound - wide road

but needs a sidewalk or bike lane.

• Nine mound and leaving the westridge neighborhood off Breckinridge rd onto epic Ln

• Nine mound could use a biker’s lane to access Military Ridge Trail.

• Nine Mound needs sidewalk or bike lane, especially since the high school Is there.

• Nine mound needs sidewalks! Crossing from westridge to Epic.

• Nine Mound needs sidewalks. I don't feel safe walking/running there.

• Nine Mound Rd missing sidewalk between Pollow Rd and Cross Country Rd. Many people walk this stretch to get to bike

trail. There is a lot of traffic and no sidewalk.

• Nine Mound Rd now that it is also major school route. Main Street downtown

• Nine Mound Rd Locust Dr Very unsafe for young bikers and walkers to cross from one neighborhood to the next.

• Nine Mound Rd, Cross Country Rd near Reddan

• Nine Mound Rd. Sidewalks around Harriett Park. Bruce Rd.

• Nine Mound Road • Nine mound road / cross

country road. • Nine mound road could

use sidewalks • Nine Mound road near

Verona Clinic is tricky with kids-no sidewalk or large shoulders

• Nine Mound Road needs a separate bike line, especially the Nine Mound and Edward St intersection. Main Street is very busy and dangerous for biking.

• Nine Mound Road needs dedicated walking and bike paths connected to the Northern Lights Trail and Military Ridge Trail.

• Nine mound Road needs sidewalks and/or designated biking/walking paths! Especially with the location of the new high school, this is critical to kids safety

• Nine Mound Road, especially for all of the students who walk or bike to and from the new high school.

• nine mound road, the back road to the library by badger prairie park-traffic is fast, needs a bike lane/path

• Nine Mound sidewalks • No • No • no • No

enough options in accessibility.

• Nope • North East of the Verona

• Old PB. Would like to see more paved bike paths adjacent to busy roads/streets.

• One idea is that Cross Country Road could have wider shoulders, or a bike lane, so pedestrians and

bikers aren't next to cars going 45+mph.

• out of Cathedral Point/Scenic Ridge along M.

• Paoli street south of bike trail

• Parts of the westridge neighborhood don’t have sidewalks.

• Path to Sugar River Pizza area

• Path to the Verona High School.

• pave bike path • Pave Military Ridge Trail

through town. • Pave the bike trail • Pave the bike trails • Pave the military ridge

the middle school, especially the intersection of Westlawn and Harriet.

• Pedestrian crossing by Sows eat

• Places to safely cross M and Verona Ave. While their are places designated to cross, traffic doesn't stop for you.

• Please pave the Verona segment of the Military Ridge trail!

• Please put a crosswalk by Epic park. The traffic moves very fast there due to the wide streets. Please put a crosswalk from Westridge Park to the bike trail to connect the neighborhood sidewalks with the trail system.

• Range Trail • Roads connecting to

fitchburg should have a bike lane. The beauty of dane county attracts many bikers but many of the roads remain a risky venture for bikers, such as whalen Rd.

• School zones, traffic going in and out of school drop off/pick up areas make it difficult for

children to bike/walk safely

• See above! Whalen for sure. Traffic on M from range trail toward PB

• Several poor sidewalks. Sidewalk on Industrial Dr

• Side walks • Sidewalk along the end of

nine mound road between cross country and Pollow rd. Lots of people walk along the road everyday to reach the northern lights trail, but there is no sidewalk, cars come rushing by.

• Sidewalk on nine mound • Sidewalk on nine mound

connecting moister rd to northern lights

• Sidewalks next to Badger Ridge school area.

• Sidewalks on both sides of East Verona Ave along the park and Festival to BPNN.

• Sidewalks on Main Street past Miller’s to bike trail, etc are very narrow, steers don’t have bike lanes and there is a lot of traffic. Makes it difficult to get to the bike trail without driving in and parking in lot.

• Sidewalks on nine mound • Some streets have

sidewalks and some areas have none on either side which makes it tough for pedestrians to walk throughout town. But most of these areas have little to no traffic which does make it work.

• South Main Street from the Paoli St intersection until the ice age trail. Walkers must cross Main Street twice because of a lack of sidewalks in the area.

• Speed limits need to be enforced for vehicles on city streets

• streets and access after fireman’s park

• Sugar Creek/Badger Ridge campus. The City

needs to work with the school district to coordinate a reasonable system over there that isn't reliant on crossing guards. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a TAP grant awarded to Verona/VASD yet. This would be a good location for one.

• The bike paths around town are great but there really needs to be a connection near fireman's park. Verona is awesome but the sidewalks and roads are very bumpy.

• The corner of Cross Country and Main Street needs a better solution for walkers. We have had our hands on the hoods of vehicles driven by inattentive drivers monthly. The cross walk on Cross Country at Gateway Estates should be flashing. Crossing Verona Ave is tricky in most spots, especially at the intersection of Main.

• The crossing at Bering Dr and N Main st. The cars come speeding over the hill and can't slow down in time for pedestrian crossing the roads.

• the downtown needs to be finished with nice sidewalks like on south main

• The entire southern Hwy M corridor

• The hill at carne's coming into Verona. I hate riding that way.

• The hill on Cross Country Rd. to get to the path (past Reddan).

• The industrial area between Fireman's and the new High School. This will become a thoroughfare for teens and families and needs sidewalks.

• The intersection of Main St and Verona Rd is terrible for pedestrians. I have nearly been hit a several times by drivers

turning right on a red when I have a walk signal. Also, home owners on Main St. don't shovel the snow wide enough for a stroller to get through, and it's a dangerous road to try to push a stroller along.

• The main downtown intersection with Walgreens, Kismet, etc. makes me nervous when my teenager bikes there and has to cross the intersection

• The Main St intersection can be a bit scary because of all the traffic and nobody goes the speed limit of 25 mph. Just in general it can be scary to walk around town when people aren't paying attention while they are driving and they go way too fast.

• The main street/verona ave intersection is not bike friendly

• The military ridge trail is great except during snow or mud.

• The neighborhood by Harriet Park could use more sidewalks

• The neighborhood(s) between Westridge and the rest of the city don't have sidewalks!! The walking lanes feel dangerous even in the summer, and I would never use them in the winter.

• The new high school • The new high school!!!

There should be a direct path from the bike path to bike parking, and it should be VERY clearly marked where it crosses the path of student drivers. I’m still amazed this wasn’t part of the original design. Such a huge oversight!

• The newer area by Sugar River, North and South, WBC.

• The older neighborhoods that have no sidewalks are scary to walk through.

• The route from the Westridge neighborhood to the schools needs sidewalks, as does Nine Mound to connect to the various trails/bike paths

• The sidewalks and parking lots in the commercial developments that house Verona Family Dental and Hop Hause Brewery are hard to navigate with a handicapped scooter.

• The whole Main St. corridor.

• Their aren't many sidewalks on East Harriet, or the side streets there on the way to the library.

• There should be a safe way to connect the community south of the beltline to the rest of Verona, there should be a sidewalk all the way up Range Trail to the bridge with a pedestrian/bike crossing with a button and flashing lights.

• To and through the downtown area, Main/Verona intersection is not pedestrian or bike friendly.

• Town is divided by the 2 busy roads going through the middle. Had to go outside of the quarter of town you live in.

• Town of verona, shady oak lane, speed limit to high. Lots of walkers, bikers no safe bike lane.

• Trail crossing on Cross Country Road

• Tree trimming off Edward for bike/walker safety

• Verona Ave and Main street. Cty M bike paths/lanes

• Verona Ave, west of Main; also the Verona Ave/Nine Mound intersection.

• Verona Avenue • Verona needs an outdoor

pool for all to enjoy.

• Verona Road and Main Street - used safer side streets as a child and still do.

• W Verona ave needs lighted cross walks!!!

• W. Verona Ave. • Walking route for kids to

BRMS and Highschool from East View Heights area. Crossing of 69 towards high school. Basically anything past Fireman’s park toward highschool is bit accessible to walk/bike. Also getting out to Scenic Ridge/Cathedral point from downtown.

• We are zoned to Country View Elementary, and live on the east side of the Main Street and Cross Country intersection. We would like to walk to school, but there is a lot of car traffic at the Main St and Cross Country intersection that is very intimidating with small children. We have gone so far as to apply to a charter school in order to not have to walk through that traffic (where there is no crossing guard).

• We live in Cathedral Point, so there is trail until Carnes and then the sidewalk to small and beat up and I'm not comfortable letting the kids ride in the road since there is not a bike lane so I'm hesitant to let them ride into town

• We need a bike lane on Main Street

• We need a safe way for kids near Whalen to bike to school at Badger Ridge, for those that attend there.

• We need more sidewalks in our neighborhood.

• West cross country from tamarack to nine mound.

• Westridge to downtown • Whalen road to Fitchburg

needs a bike lane. Lots

of bikers and not good visibility on a narrow road.

• Where epic lane connects at west Verona avenue the sidewalk is not on the side northern side so kids would have to cross west Verona avenue (where cars are coming off the highway at very high speeds) to continue on a sidewalk. Very dangerous. Similarly no sidewalk on the northern side at the intersection of westridge avenue and west Verona avenue.

• Where the Ice Age Trail crosses Cty M near Cathedral Point neighborhood. Connecting neighborhoods south of 18/151 to the trails and neighborhoods and schools north of 18/151.

• Where the roads get busiest, downtown, the bike lanes disappear. This may be the place that needs protected bike lanes the most.

• Where there are no sidewalks in town in some area cars go very fast to avoid main street traffic and won't move over when we are walking in the street.

• Wisconsin Bewing/Liberty • Woods Rd needs on off

street path • Would be nice if the small

streets between E Verona Ave and the library had sidewalks

• Would like to see Military Ridge trail paved between PB and the high school and plowed during the winter

• Would love to have connections between the Birchwood Point / Thousand Oaks / Linden Park neighborhoods of Madison and the Pleasant View path going into Verona. Also would love to see a bike path or lane on Mid Town going up the hill

from Pleasant View. These East-West corridors on the hill feel pretty risky, especially with high speed traffic going into or returning from work, but there really is no safe east west corridor west of Pleasant View between Old Sauk Road and the bike path on McKee Rd.

• Yes. Military ridge trail throughout the Town of Verona and the City of Verona is very hard to walk, run, or bike on during the winter because it is not plowed and ends up being a giant sheet of ice at times. The trail in the City of Verona is also difficult to use after rain, because it turns to mud, which results in deep ruts from the bikes that do use it while it's muddy.

• Yes. Nine Mound Road could really benefit from sidewalks. The section of West Verona Ave from Epic Lane toward downtown Verona would also benefit from a walkway on both sides of the road.

• Disc golf practice area • Disc golf, Disc golf and

Disc golf :-) • Dog beach • Dog park on west side of

Great walking trails to explore, good separation of activities for the dog park and kids playground.

• Horseshoe pits, Grill, Shelter, playground equipment, connection to the hiking and biking trails. Plus a gorgeous view.

• I am from La Crosse, but worked in Madison over the 2021 summer. I played in the disc golf leagues down there, and it was a blast. Up to 50people Monday night at Elver Park to play disc golf. And Tuesday/Thursday at Hiestand Park. Great people and awesome land.

• I can walk to it from Cathedral Point. My kids will bike to it.

• I don’t go to Verona because there is no disc golf course

• I enjoy the scenery. • I enjoyed walking in

the woods in the middle of the city.

• I haven’t been to all of the parks in Verona but I really like Westridge because of the playground equipment, shelter, water fountain, ball field, and tennis courts. It’s also a really peaceful park! My family likes to bike there and then play on the playground.

• I imagine playing disc golf here

• I like that it has open space, restrooms, pavilion, slides etc

• I like the view of the water and that it feels a bit

wooded/secluded. I do wish that the sound of traffic from 18/151 was less audible from the park though.

• I like water and watching the kids have fun. I"m not even sure where most of the parks listed are located!

• I live close by. • I live next to it • I live right by it and it

has sidewalks/paths all the way around

• I love being able to take wooded walks. The trails are great. The amount of wildlife in that area is remarkable. The stream is relaxing too. It's truly my favorite area in the city of verona

• I love how family friendly it is and how easy it is to sit by the water.

• I love the ice age trail area in East View heights. The Prairie loop is great and the little wooded walk is too. The new path along the stream is beautiful- I miss the tree though. I would love to see that area around the stream have paved paths that continue and connect to the prairie loop path (the dead end is kind of funny). And also have a path paved across the bridge from towards veterans park and new retention pond. That whole area could be developed to capitalize on the natural resources and draw people to a beautiful central destination

• I love the playground equipment and splash pad. I enjoy

sitting on the rocks in the sun while my child safely plays.

• I love walking and running on Military Ridge Trail, Ice Age Trail and near Verona Beach

• I open water swim, paddle board and swim my dog there. It’s a remarkable resource and place for rest. Has the sewer work affected the water quality or was it drought?( It seemed to have more algae this year.)

• I realize this area isn't really city property, but they're pretty scenic, wide, and a safe way to get a few miles in without walking in the streets as I would have to if I tried to take a walk past Westridge.

• I specifically seek parks that are away from traffic and also not paved. It is very important to me that the trail is natural turf (a.k.a. grass) so it truly feels like nature. I also like that the trails here are mowed wide, and not too skinny like the surrounding Ice Age Trail, so hikers can easily pass each other. I very much appreciate that Verona usually separates walking trails and biking trails because walking my dog around bicycles is a nightmare (bicyclists usually do not slow down or give us enough space).

• I would visit Verona Parks if there was a disc golf course installed

• Ice rink • Ice rink and baseball • Ice skating and it is

close to home • Ice skating on winter;

big shelter with amenities; centrally located

• In my neighborhood • It has a big open

field with fun walking trails nearby. Cross Country park has playground equipment and swings that are fun for kids. It's also tucked away from traffic which makes it easier to relax and have fun.

• It has a bunch of space! I would love to see Electric bike rentals added in the city, it would be nice to have in this park.

• It has a lot of unique recreation options.

• It has a lot to offer-shelter, restrooms, ice skating, basketball, playground equipment, open space for field sports, etc & is centrally located.

• It has close access to a bike trail, has a good playground and has a paved trail for kids to bike/rollerblade around.

• it has everything for my family

• It has lots to do there for my kids!

• It has multiple things to do in one location. Splash pad, park, beach, soccer, basketball. My kids can get tired of the park and move to the splash pad, then move to the beach, etc. I can make the visit last longer the more there is to do.

• It has nice equipment, restrooms, splash pad and beach. It is also close to n plus one so we can get coffee, etc. This park is not one of the closest to our house, so we travel on foot or bike (2.5+ miles each way).

• It has pickleball courts and the playground is next to them.

• It has such a good variety of activities even in winter and a great shelter. Some parks have better playground equipment, but all around still my favorite.

• It has the beach, splashpad, playground, shelter, and restrooms. Really nice facility with lots to do for all ages.

• It is along the military ridge bike trail

• It is between our house and the Epic bicycle path to walk our dog.

• It is close by, Daughter and nieces grow up playing in this park

• It is close by, has plenty of variety for the family and is a natural gathering place for the neighborhood.

• It is close to our house and also has a hill for sledding.

• It is closest to my house. It also has a great mix of playground, shelter, court space, and open areas. It is also well maintained. Thanks!

• It is closest.

• It is easily accessible from our home and our boys play sports there.

• It is in walking/biking distance of our home

• It is right next to my house. It has a great variety of activities. A lot of people use the park so it is a good place to socialize.

• It is the closest park with the most amenities.

• It is the closest park, and use it a lot when grandchildren are at our house.

• It is the closest proximity and my kids use it for sledding a lot!

• Most varied amenities

• Mostly because it is close to our home and it provides equipment for a wide range of ages. We live closer to cross county park but it is aimed for older children than I have. I would love to see a smaller section for the younger kids in our neighborhood toddlers to age 5 at Cross Country Park. Harriet gets busy and it can be intimidating for my kids sometimes.

• Multiple activities to do year round.

• My children love the "double-swing" and eating snacks on the shaded bench.

• My daughter likes the equipment here and it is the only park within biking distance

• My daughter really enjoys swimming in the summer. I do with there was better access for her wheelchair to the beach though. I can carry her into the water, but at the bottom of the ramp there isn't much good space to park her wheelchair.

• My family likes activities like rollerblading and onewheels

• My kids like the splash pad, playground, and the beach

• My kids love the playground, splashpad, and the beach

playground/Dream Park • Outdoor public pool • Disc golf • Mountain bike trails/pump

track • outdoor pool • We NEED an outdoor

public pool. Would there not be enough space here?

• Disc golf 15. Would you likely use this (Zingg) park once developed?

• Close to our house and would be a lovely addition for Verona. Encouraging people to get out and move

• A new area to explore. We have spent lots and lots of time in many of the other Verona parks.

• A new version of a CrossFit/parkour type adult fitness course would be cool with kid activities in parallel so parent and kids could loop.

• Absolutely would use the park, if it provide new amenities not offered at other locations (zip line, obstacle course, fitness course). Close to my neighborhood.

• Across town from home • All depends on what is

there, and when the first geocache is placed there

• Almost certain if Disc Golf comes there. Less likely but still likely with the other listed amenities

• always enjoy activities out doors, and able to find an activity with a big selection

• Another place to bring the kids

• Another place to play with and enjoy my family or a good place for a play date

• as an avid disc golfer and nature enthusiast, i would welcome the chance to play in Verona and explore the city more

• Because it would different and brand new!

• Because the ideas listed are amenities we already have access too...

• Biking distance from home so not often but for the newness of the play equipment

• Close proximity to my house

• Close to friends in town and easy biking distance.

• Close to grandchildren • Close to home. • Close to my home • Close to my home • Close to my home • Close to my home. • Close to my house and

easy to bike to this location.

• Close to our home • Close to our house. And

field of dreams are softball diamonds, not baseball diamonds as in your description, which are not accessible for kids in the neighborhood to use. They are locked up which is very disappointing. The kids in this neighborhood would love to go and be kids and just play a pick up game rather than something organized but they are not allowed. Disappointing.

• close to softball fields when we are there

• Completely the other side of Verona from where we live, but we do have friends in the area, so we

would use if we visited those friends.

• Convenient • Convenient location and

bikeable from our house. • Could be a part of my

walking and biking path • Cross Country is the

closest park, and this would be the most accessible park that are not school grounds.

• Currently, to get to the nearest park for those in that neighborhood, we have to try & not get hit by Epic traffic at Cross County Rd & then walk along streets with no sidewalks.

• Depending on the amentites, we like to visit different parks in town. Our kiddos go to Country View and we have a softball player so it is close to those places

• Depending on type of equipment, though it’s further away from our home

• Depending on usage. If only soccer fields, I wouldn't go because I don't play.

• Depending on what is added

• Depending on what is put there would be my biggest factor. Personally I would love to see a disc golf course in Verona, but it would need a lot of tree planted to make it interesting.

• Depending on what is there, it’s pretty close to where I live.

• Depends on activities planned for the park

• Depends on what is included in the park, but myself and MANY others would consistently visit for disc golf

• Depends on what’s there, since it’s a couple miles from my home, so I listed amenities that are generally not in parks close to my home.

Thanks! Love Verona parks.

• Depends on what’s there. Harriet is much closer if Zingg is just a playground and basketball courts.

• Depends on what's built • Depends what is there

since it isn’t in my direct neighborhood

• Depends. If it has something that Harriet either doesn't have or if Harriet is full (soccer field, tennis court, skating rink). Harriet is between me and this park.

• Different activities from other parks

• Disc golf • Disc golf please put a

disc golf course in Verona all the nearest courses are on the north side or east side

• Distance • Distance from home • Distance from our house • Don’t live near it • Fairly close to home • Fairly close to where we

live • Far from home • Far from home. • Far from our house but if

different options were offered there we would be likely to go

• Far from where we live • For disc golf field practice • for disc golf filed practice

if field space big enough • Frequently attend softball

at field of dreams. Live about 1.5 miles from playground site

• Fun to try new parks. • Great location • Have Parks closer to

me.might use occasionally of it was offering something different

• Having five kids, we frequent many of the Verona Parks and live within biking distance to the new Zingg park.

• I almost didn't answer the question above because I feel like those who live

close should have the most say :-).

• I could walk there and would hike on trails or use an adventure/obstacle course if it was available.

• I don't go to a ton of parks in Verona. I would go to a disc golf course often in the summer though.

• I don't live by the park. • I enjoy disc golf and

would visit the park if disc golf was an option. It is unlikely I would visit the park without disc golf.

• I enjoy hiking through parks. If it is walking trails, allowing dogs in the park would be nice.

• I have 2 kids under 8 who love parks

• I have enjoyed using all the parks in Verona - it is nice to not travel far for these type is amenities. It is likely to be within walking, running, and biking distance from me

• I have young kids! • I know this is a town issue

- but the sidewalks that would lead to this park on cross country rd would be so necessary with Epic Traffic! Would love to see sidewalks.

• I live in the neighborhood. We all cannot wait!!

• I live near there. • I live nearby and it’s very

convenient to the new development we live in

• I live nearby and my children frequently play at Country View school's park.

• I live nearby Cathedral Point and Fireman's Park. However, if they had something new/unique, like cross country skiing trails, I might check it out.

• I live on the other side of Verona, and there are many other good parks that are closer

• I live right down the street. Hopefully it would offer different amenities to what’s already in the

neighborhood at Country View. Redundancy would be a waste! I’d love to have tennis, pickle ball, archery, and an outdoor community pool there.

• I live two blocks away • I live very close to the

proposed site • I mean if it’s a cool new

park there will likely be a meet up of friends. Weather it gets added to our summer park rotation will depend on what it has to offer that closer parks don’t have.

• I would be very likely to use it if there is a disc golf course.

• I would not chose to go to this park unless it had something different from others in the area, or I was meeting up with people and it was convenient for them.

• I would travel 40 minutes away from my home to play your local disc golf courses

• I would use it because it is biking distance from my house

• I would use it if there was a disc golf course

• I would use the park for kids Baseball or for my slowpitch softball practice. Please have power outlets for the pitching machines.

• I would use the park if it offered amenities that were unique in the City of Verona. It was amenities that I already have access to near my home, then I wouldn't use them.

• I would visit if there was a disc golf course

• I’m guessing the park will be geared more to younger families given the area it’s in. If it’s developed into more of a natural area with a few amenities, then I would use it.

• If a disc golf course is built, I would travel to

Verona and use that park. Otherwise I have no reasons to visit Verona.

• If it had a disc golf course I would use it

• If it had a pool - yes. If not, no.

• If it had a pool we would use it

• If it had a pool. How do we not have one in our entire community?

• If it had an outdoor pool, I would definitely use it. I love the Goodman Center combo of prairie and the pool with areas for little ones and beautiful scenery

• If it had disc golf and/or pickle ball courts I would be frequent user

• If it had disc golf, I would use it very regularly

• If it had fun amenities, we’d go

• If it had hiking trails and/or an obstacle/adventure course, great new playground, or zip line, we would visit.

• If it had new things, like a zipline, that other verona parks don't have, we would come

• If it had some of the amenities I indicated above, then I would use it. The problem with so many of the parks in Verona is the equipment is not interesting to older kids and if you don't play some kind of traditional sport then there is nothing much to offer.

• If it had the amenities I wanted there, I'd bike or drive to it.

• If it had very intriguing features that stood out from other parks, I would use it. Electric bike rentals, fitness courses, a skating rink in the winter, etc

• If it has a pool • If it has amenities I want

that do not exist elsewhere.

• If it has amenities not offered by other parks, I would go there.

• If it has amenity family is interested in.

• If it has more interesting equipment (zip line, outdoor ice skating, adventure course, park shelter) we would definitely drive there to use it.

• If it has new amenities that aren't available elsewhere in Verona, like a sculpture park, zipline, adventure course, I likely would use it. I it's just athletic fields I definitely wouldn't use it.

• If it has new and fun things, my family would be excited to use it

• If it has something that is not available at a park within walking distance I would go to check it out.

• If it has the amenities requested above, it would be different enough from other Verona Parks that we would travel from the other side of town to use it.

• If it offers something that other parks do not have, I would travel to this location. Especially with my 10 year old to meet up with friends.

• If it was different from other parks

• If it was turned into a disc golf course, yes. I would make the drive frequently.

• If it was useful to our family- we would go

• If it's different than anything else in town, I would definitely use it.

• If the equipment or activities there were unique, then there would be a good reason to use the park.

• If the park features are unique from others, we would go.

• If the park had amenities like an outdoor rink we would use the park. If it

has the same amenities as other parks we would not use it due to location.

• If their are off road walk trails

• If there are activities different than what is already in Verona, I would use it

• If there are walking trails, I will definitely check it out

• If there is a Disc Golf Course I will If there is not a Disc Golf Course I will not

• If there is a disc golf course, we will use it.

• If there is disc golf • If there is something

different this park has to offer I would use it. There seems to be plenty of soccer fields and baseball diamonds everywhere else.

• If there is something unique that sets it apart from other parks I would go, otherwise may not use as much as it’s not in a very easily accessible location for most of the city of Verona.

• If there was disc golf I’d come

• If there was Pickle Ball, Pickle Ball, Pickle Ball & walking trails.

• If there were specific events, I would attend. If it had a pool, we would be there all summer.

• If there were walking trails, absolutely!

• If there's a disc golf course, I'll certainly use it.

• If there's disc golf I'd use the park. Otherwise it's unlikely as it isn't very close to me.

• If this park has a pool, we would use it frequently through the summer. Without a pool, we would likely still play at Fireman’s park and hike in Badger Prairie park.

• If this park has novel amenities (i.e. zip line,

adventure course, obstacle course, or bike trails), we would use this park a lot!

• If walking trail(s) added then would use

• if we wanted to book it for a family picnic and it was not available

• In my neighborhood - can’t wait!

• Inconvenient location • It depends on what is

offered. I live on the other side of town so if the park offers what I already have nearby then I wouldn’t use it.

• It is close to home. • It is close to my home. • It is close to my house • It is close to our home

and would be the most convenient park for us to use.

• It is near my home. I walk in the neighborhood almost daily. Thanks for asking!

• it is near to our home and away from major roads.

• It is not close by, unless it has an ammenity I want to use to drive there.

• It is relatively close, biking close at least. But if is had a great space and more/other to offer from my kids and our friends we would love to have a new place to play and relax.

• It is very far from our house on the other side of town, so unless it has some amenities that we could not find closer to home, we likely wouldn’t drive across town to use it.

• It is within close driving distance, our kids play softball near there all the time

• It is within driving/biking distance from our house. If it had the right amenities, the whole family could use it.

• It is within walking and biking distance to our home.

• It is within walking/biking distance of my house

• It looks large and is near by.

• It really depends on what features are added. Its far enough away from our home that we would have to drive, but if it had amenities we can make use of, it could be worth the drive instead of walking to a nearby park.

• It seems like it'll be a nice park to visit.

• It would be great if there was an outdoor pool in Verona like all of the surrounding cities have.

• It would be the closest park to my home; if it had tennis courts my kids would have somewhere to play tennis that is walkable to get to. Also would appreciate greenspace being left in the area.

• It would be the only patk within walking distance

• It would depend on the features.

• It would depend on what is developed there. If just same, repetitive features, would like use ones closer to my home.

• It would depend on what is there, but we aren't within walking distance to it. If an outdoor pool was put there, we'd drive there.

• It would depend on what was there. We would have to drive to that park but if the amenities were unique we would definitely go.

• It’s at the other side of Verona & there is not a good way to get there without driving in heavy traffic.

• It’s close • It’s close to my home. An

option from Countryview

playground. I can walk all the way there.

• It’s close to our house • It’s kind of far, but I would

travel for a new and interesting place to hang out for free.

• It’s pretty close and on the way to many places.

• It’s reasonably accessible to where we walk

• It’s within easy biking distance of our home

• It's a park • It's a park reasonably

close to me. • It's close to my home. If

the amenities that I checked are added it would be beneficial to my health!

• It's close to my house • It's close to our house • It's closer than some but

still a ways off so would go if it had something that epic or Harriet didn't have

• It's far away from my house - I live on the South East Side of Verona.

• It's far from where I live, but if it had unique amenities I would go there.

• Its near a lot of houses in the Country View neighborhood - so I would assume (which could be wrong) that it would always be busy with those families that live near it.

• It's not close to home. • It's not close to our house

but if it offered something that other Verona parks don't, we would make the trip

• It's not super close to where we live, but if the right amenities are there we'd likely use it

• It's very near our home and fills a gap in the park availability in this area.

• It's walking distance to my home, and we're not currently walking distance to any other parks.

• l'd use it if it had something unique that wasn't available closer to home

• Lighted pickleball courts for evening play

• Like close outdoor destinations

• Like to try new things. Location is good

• Like to use all parks • Likely if it had obstacle

course or something like...

• Likely if there were amenities not already at other parks

• Live in neighborhood • Live relatively nearby • Live very close! • Living in Madison

currently, trying to buy home in Verona.

• Location • Location • Location is far from home • Location relative to my

house. • Location. • Location-it’s far away and

not on our typical driving route.

• Lots of other parks closer to me -- Harriet and Cross Country to start with.

• Love visiting different parks

• Many parks are closer, but a zip line, cool playground equipment, or cross country ski trails would be a draw.

• maybe if something not offered closer to my neighborhood. cross country/snowshoe trail would entice me

• Most likely We would try it if it’s different from other plain play parks for little kids. Verona has a lot of parks that are made for toddlers/little ones but no one thinks of older kids. They need stuff to do as well

• Moving close to it • Moving out of Verona

within the year. :-( Listing what I'd like to use

if it was installed. I'd travel to use those facilities.

• Multiple times per week. • My children would want to

play at the new park if there was playground equipment. My husband I would use it if it had walking trails.

• My kids' are older and it's kinda far from our house.

• My kids could play while I walk

• My kids love to drive around or bike to find new parks.

• My kids loving going to different parks

• My two youngest kids go to Country View Elementary, so it would be convenient for them to play at the park after school.

• Near my home. New place to hike and play.

• Near our house. We love the school playground but can’t use it when school is in session.

• Nearby and enjoy visiting new parks

• Need open fields to play lacrosse or other field activities. Lost open field at country view to parking... too close to use open space without hitting cars. Schools added so much playgrounds that open space limited there too. Dangerous when kids present.

• Neighborhood parks within developments tend to be small with few amenities. I used to live in the scenic ridge neighborhood and the park there was basically a single empty lot with some playground equipment.

• New • New equipment • New facility with new

equipment • New park • New park with amenities! • Next to field of dreams

softball fields. Will not go

out of my way to use this unless it has things I would use. Might not use it is not big enough for multiple soccer/la crosse fields.

• Nice to outdoor spaces • No in my area. • Not a convenient location

for me personally. • Not as close to home • Not close enough to my

house. • Not close to home • Not close to house • not in my neighborhood, if

offerings are the same as at other existing parks in Verona

• Not in my neighborhood. Would be great for younger people

• Not in the area • not interested • Not too far from home.

New. If had some of amenities above/park near home does not.

• not very big • not walkable from my

house • Of their is a Disc Golf

course then off likely either bike or drive to play

• on the other side of town • Only if it offered nice trails • Only if it was the only

location for the use- it’s not near me and hard to bike to

• Only likely if you add a disc golf course.

• Other side of town • Our family likes to check

out numerous parks in Verona!

• Our family spends time at field of dreams for softball so we would venture to a nearby park - we also visit new parks for outdoor recreation/play time as often as possible in warm weather months.

• Our kids love trying new parks

• Outdoor fitness equipment would be huge perk! Would incorporate this park into my running route to use the

equipment. Also, close enough for my kids to bike to

• Outside of the school playground there are no other options

• Pickle ball and out side exercise.

• Playground program location

• Please build it! Our area of town has really needed a park for a LONG, LONG time!

• Probably we would give it a go but not as often since further away

• Proximity • Proximity • Proximity • Proximity • Proximity to home • Proximity to home-not far

for kids to ride their bikes to it.

• proximity to my home • Proximity to my house • Reasonably close in

distance • rest area while out biking • Right by my house • Take grandchildren for

variety of activities. • The city has plenty of

parks and if there isn't anything different that it offers, I would not make a trip there

• The community already has plenty of baseball, football, and soccer fields, I would not use them here. Instead, I would use different and unique facilities not found in verona

• The location is not too far from home and kids enjoying different parks in town

• The only way I would use this park is if there were off-road walking trails. Parks without trails are useless to me because I feel like there is nothing to do there if you don't have kids, but walking trails are usually utilized by everybody. I would love to have a new park

this close to where I live too.

• There are a number of other closer parks.

• There are other parks closer to where I live.

• There are parks closer to me.

• This depends on how it is developed. Verona needs more gardens and nature trails.

• This is an easy drive and within reasonable biking distance from my home. If it had new and unique features my family would definitely use it.

• this is at the opposite end of town from where I live.

• This park is right by my house and we would use this park very often. We would love a playground since there is no playground on our side of cross country road.

• This park would not be visual except for neighbors that live in this neighborhood. It would have to be really something for people to search for this park and then drive here to use it. It looks like the school already has open fields and baseball diamonds, so adding something like tennis courts and basketball courts would be beneficial to the school too. They would be able to walk to this park and use the courts. It would be nice to have a nature trail or walking path. I would survey the students at the school and see what fun ideas they come up with since the park is so close to their school.

• This will be right near my house! We homeschool my oldest due to his special needs and we would be there everyday!! This would be WONDERFUL!! Kite flying, playground equipment, hopefully tennis courts. It is just

what our neighborhood needs to bring families together!

• This would be the closest to my house and daily commute.

• To be active and get fresh air!

• To disc golf • To explore what the new

area of town is like. • to far away

• To far from where we live in Verona on

• too far • Too far away • Too far away • Too far away • Too far away. • Too far away. Closer

parks. Don’t use parks that much. More interested in kayak facilities on Sugar River

• too far for us, but it's a nice area

• Too far from home • Too far from home • Too far from home • Too far from home • Too far from home for

small park. • Too far from home. It

would have to have something the other parks don't have like an adventure course.

• Too far from my home in Westridge.

• Too far from my house • Too far from my house,

no young children at home

• Too far from our home • Too far from our house • Too far to walk or bike to • Too far

• Too far. But I would travel and visit local restaurants/bars if there were a disc golf course.

• Unless it had unique features, there are a number of parks which are closer to us.

• Unless there is playground equipment for my older son to use.

• Unlikely due to distance from home, but would use if there are baseball fields/open areas for practice space.

• Unlikely unless it has something new to offer. We live in East View Heights and have parks nearby that we visit.

• Verona needs there own outdoor pool. Community would most definitely support it! Enough said

• Walking and kids playing on the playground

• Walking the dog would be an everyday routine. Family and friend picnics.

• We are a softball family and are constantly at the field of dreams having a park close by or more softball fields would be amazing. Little League has 4 city fields softball used 2 school district fields

• We are also close to this park/ within walking distance

• We are at field of dreams a lot in the summer, so it would be very close by.

• We are in that area often and have 4 kids who like to stay active. New active ways to be outdoors excites us!

• We are Town of Montrose so a bit far. But would use if I were that way.

• we are trying to visit all of the parks-this is fairly close to us.

• We could walk there from where we live

• We don’t have a park in this neighborhood

• We don’t live near there. We typically walk or bike to all of the parks we visit.

• We frequently ride to that area (there's nice pavement and paths)

• We frequently visit local parks as a family.

• We get to all the parks and could bike there easily. I would love to see some variety! Several parks in Janesville have ziplines and they are awesome! We would also love to see outdoor fitness equipment or an adventure course.

• We go to all the parks. • We have lived in Kettle

Creek for years and were always disappointed our neighborhood didn’t offer a park.

• We have playdates with friends who live in the neighborhood and would likely meet there in good weather.

• We have some friends that live in that area so we could meet there and have a blast!

• We like checking out new parks. We would LOVE a sculpture park

• We like to explore parkw • We like to play at all

different sort of parks • We live close by and

usually go to the Country View school to play. This new park will be great!!

• We live in Gateway and dislike the very minimal city park options near us.

• We live in Kettle Creek Phase 3. Like most other families building over here, we have kids. The only current park is at Country View and sometimes that one is a swamp. They could use some water management over there as well.

• We live on shandy street and would go all the time.

• We live on the south side of town. We’d bike that way, though.

• We live two streets away • We live very close to this

area. • We love exploring new

parks in our city-it would be near our school (Sugar Creek)

• We love having parks to ride our bikes to and a new park would be super fun

• We love visiting new parks with different playground equipment. Would love something like an adventure or obstacle course for older kids. They can benefit from outdoor time/exercise. They get too old for regular playground equipment.

• We love visiting parks! • We need more disc golf

courses in Dane county • We really like pickleball

and the current courts are really busy

• We rotate parks we go to - even driving distance ones - when the weather is nice enough to go outside. We do a picnic dinner with the kids at least once a week in all seasons but winter.

• We use all the parks. • We usually check out all

the parks in the area at least once

• We visit parks frequently with 4 boys.

• We would check it out and then decide if it appeals to us. If it has just playgrounds and ball fields, there's not much attraction for those without kids.

• We would definitely check it out, but it would not be easily accessible from our home without driving.

• We would live less than a mile away, so yes!

• We would probably infrequently use it because its a bit far for me and my kids to ride bikes to from the Raywood Neighborhood.

• We would use a park that offers something other parks don’t have and that is new because it would be in great condition. Our student also attend country view so even

though we don’t live nearby, we go there

• With more adventure/obstacle amenities, we would likely try it out

• Within biking distance from home

• Within biking distance from our home

• Within reasonable walking distance

• Would be closer than existing park and could be reached without crossing busy road (e.g. Cross Country)

• Would frequent regularly if disc golf was an amenity, even if were pay to play

• Would have some things not currently in parks.

• Would likely check it out but have many other parks walkable from home so it probably wouldn’t be visited often unless it’s really cool. Glacial Valley Park in Cross Plains is amazing for reference.

• Would love to see disc golf incorporated into verona parks and this side of town

• Would serve as a great link to other parts of the area for walking/biking.

• Yes if it has a pool • Yes if it has off road

walking trails that exclude bicycles. Many of the cyclists around here make the trails scary to walk on.

16. Do you have any concerns about safety or accessibility in any of our parks?

• It a fan of the new equipment at the “blue park”. The green bridge type element seems so unsafe.

• ADA • All the parks need to be

assessed for accessibility issues.

• always concerned about accessibility for those with physical limitations

• As I just stated. The softball diamonds near Country View are locked up. Lots of time that they are not in use and kids and families can't use them. Make them accessible for a group of kids to just go play and have fun.

• Behnke park playground equipment is old and too big for young children to use.

• by Forest View & Harvest. No equipment for 0-3 year olds.

• Children with disabilities would have a hard time at alot of the parks I've visited with my kids. Something for those kids would be great

• Community Park by Stampfl needs attention. Seems in rough shape compared to other parks in Verona. Also some parts of Benhke Park in Cross Country Heights.

• Concerned about the occasional loose dog

• Cross Country Park has a metal climber that is angled and has sunken down over the years and it makes the gap from the climber to the platform larger

• Does Verona even have ADA-compliant, accessible parks? Firemen's comes close, but lacks a fully accessible playground.

• Fireman’s park is hard to keep track of children at

• Fireman’s Park, I have witnessed some odd behavior with cars parking up on the hill and secluded. They sit in the cars for long periods of times and make exchanges — this was several years ago but it made me worried they were doing illegal activity.

• Harriett can be unsavory after dark.

• However, extra lighting is always beneficial

• I have felt that a bicycle may hit me on the bicycle trails toward the Ice Age Trail and the tunnel under East Verona Ave. aka some users are not aware of other users or don't want to share with other users. I think the tunnel is great for safety of everyone.

• I wish there was better lighting at night - some parking lots are not well lit after dark.

• In general • It is unclear when safety

inspections are completed. Failing or broken equipment is not repaired. Basketball hoops at Epic Park have not been adjustable for over a year-some people bring their own tools to try to adjust. Climber at that park seems to have a loose piece.

• It would be great to see an accessible park for children who are blind or have other disabilities

• Lack of upkeep on cutting the grass, trimming around equipment areas and trees in the park. Poor upkeep of mulch in play areas.

• lighting • Many of our playground

aren’t accessible for children with diverse physical abilities.

• Many of the fields are not lit at night.

• Many parks are not accessible for kids with special needs to participate

• Many parks do not have a way for people with mobility issues to safety use what is there from a simple path to the shelter or fed to watch their kids play or a way for kid to join peers at the park.

• Many parks have benches to sit on, but no trail to push a wheelchair, walker or stroller to the park equipement

• Many parks with playground equipment do not have accessible equipment.

• Meister park - is always flooded. It’s essentially unusable most of the time.

• Meister park has flooding issues after rain. The ground material absorbs water creating a giant puddle under the entire playground.

• Mixing bikes with pedestrian traffic is stressful. Having bikes silently zip past while walking is a constant state of stress when walking should be a stress release. It is less stressful to walk on the street with car traffic than paths that are mixed use with bikes. The gutting of the Badger Mill area has been nothing short of tragic in my estimation. A separate walking path is being planned right next to bikes zipping by. Waiting to see how that ends up. And I love biking on the military ridge trail. But expectations of bike traffic are high on that. Badger Mill creek was exclusive to foot traffic but we paved paradise to put in a sewer / bike road. I love you mayor, but that was a big misstep in my book when the Military Ridge bike option was just a couple blocks away to get from one side of the south side to the other. Another paved road for bikes was not needed.

• More biking to parks without sharing the road.

• More lighting at Harriet park

• Neff park gets vandalized often. Also since neighbor

was attacked on Military Ridge trail, I won't go there alone at night.

• no restrooms

• No sidewalk on Hemlock with too many cars makes it unsafe to access park on Basswood .

• No sidewalks to get to the park on Basswood.

• None of the city playgrounds we have been to are really accessible to children with physical disabilities (especially wheelchair users). When my daughter was at Glacier Edge elementary they put in a swing she could use, and as far as I know its still the only such swing in the city. I was also disappointed that the splash pad at Fireman's park wasn't a little more accessible. The ramp down to the beach is nice, but there should be a flat sheltered area off of the sand at the bottom to park a few wheelchairs and/or strollers that won't be in the way of other users.

• Normally I'd say no - the only issue is Harriet after school, the middle schoolers can be mean and have a potty mouth around the younger kids.

• Not as accessible for those with mobility limitations

• Nothing specific. We need to continue to make sure our parks are as accessible to as many community members as possible.

• Old playground features, paved walkways, uneven grounds have not been updated at some of the smaller parks

• Parking at various parks, especially at end times of sporting events is

problematic. Veterans Park has not enough parking and people coming from all directions. Epic Park, Harriet Park, Westridge Park, and probably more, the street is not really wide enough for both sides to have people parking on them and to cross the street or even drive safely.

• Playgrounds too close to open space. Too many playgrounds.

• Please add more drainage or material to soggy portions of the trail system.

• Prairie View and Vande Griff Parks are not every accessible for wheelchair or stroller. Also Prairie View Park baseball diamond is extremely neglected and maintained. It could be an easy fix to help provide another practice option for teams town. It seems like there is a need for more playing field (we have a daughter who plays Club softball). We have observed that Little League gets first choice of fields at the complex with lights while the girls teams don't have access to such facilities. It's not like that in other towns (such as Middleton) that we play. If where the Little League plays and practices is funded by community tax payers $$ then it should be available to both girls and boys.

• Safety at Behnke Park - the playground equipment is in poor condition

• Scenic Ridge park has a tornado siren that is leaning precariously to one side. Is it going to completely fall over one day and injure someone?

• Some have old or limited play equipment

• Some of them like the one behind the library by the dog park, don’t know the name is in a beautiful place but it’s way old needs updated for safety Some that are closer to trees or shrubs need to have lights

• Some parks need better lighting and more regular patrols to keep crime under control

• sometimes the sidewalks in front of central park and hometown junction (and in front of the senior center) are not kept ice-free. Homeowners seem to do a better job than the city, possibly because the city goes through once and plows, but doesn't go back as things thaw, then freeze, leaving ice

• Speed of traffic through neighborhoods

• The basketball hoops at Epic park have been broken for a while. Previously, the hoops could be raised and lowered. Now they are stuck in the lower position and older kids cannot play. I think it makes sense just to get hoops that are not able to be lowered if it increases longevity of the hoops. Typically only older kids use the hoops anyway.

• The large dog park in Verona- was there and heard semi-automatic rifles going off a few times. Not sure how far from the park this was going on, and whether it was in limits of where it could be done legally. I left the park, it was scary. Would love not to hear semi-automatic guns going off while I'm in a park.

• The lighting in some of the parks and the trails through them is very dim in the evening and early

morning hours. Pathway lighting would be nice.

• The only downside to some parks (and this is the case everywhere, not just Verona) is that many dog owners let their dogs off-leash which is a major safety issue, so I would like to see more enforcement there. Additionally, on shared paths where walkers and bikers both use the path, I've often had cyclists come up behind me way too fast and not give me and my dog enough space.

• The open area of Westridge park of often flooded, making it difficult to use the baseball field. It’s also hard to find the bases.

• The playground equipment in Behnke Park needs to be updated.

• This is a stretch but, when the toddler swing vanished at Thompson Park last year that seemed a poor call. One of each kind at least would be best. That is such a good size park for grandparents to take under 5 year olds too. And most of the equipment is also for littles.

• Too much use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers is dangerous for us and pollutes our water table.

• Tube slide at fireman’s park playground is dangerous! Especially when wet kids use it after the splash pad or beach. It is designed to let the child out onto the sidewalk! Even with the mat below kids are constantly falling and slipping onto the sidewalk injuring themselves. This was a bad design! Slide should be replaced or

rerouted into the rubber ground!

• Van de Grifth park play structure has a bridge with very low side walls. I'm afraid my kids could fall off.

• Vandalism at Harriet Park has been a problem for years.

• Verona beach should be more accessible to swim in when life guards are on duty.

• Water quality for swimming at Fireman’s beach

• We do not have a fully wheelchair accessible park. Many parks have playground equipment only geared towards older kids and not the 3 and under crowd.

• Why did you take the baby swing out of Thompson park? There are two park structures clearly intended for two different age groups so the swings should reflect that.

• Yes. I’ve seen other people being up comments on having a park in the city that provides ADA accessibility to those who are handicapped.

17. Excluding winter months, on average how often do you or members of your household visit or use...?

• Verona Beach - Once per week in the summer, weather permitting.

• Madison Parks 3-5 times per week

• Frequently use biking trails from Verona to Mt. Horeb and to Madison.

• We use cross country ski trails weekly

• City of Madison Parks - disc golf courses

• more in the summer • Not sure which parks are

city or county.

• Use Badger Ridge and Military Ridge for hiking

• Fitchburg park with great walking/bike trail and playground structure for me and grandson. Use 2-3 times a month

• Don’t know where to go to start using the ice age or wetlands

• Dog Park - 1-2 times a week

• Wslking and snow shoeing

• The nearby City of Madison parks are great and worth traveling to.

• More times in 2020 than in 2021/22.

• Madison Parks: 3+ times per week... Marshall parks 1-2 times per week.

• Elver Park & Hiestand Park (twice weekly - each)

• I run or bike on the trails, with and without family.

• Madison Parks (disc golf) • Use some things like

dane county parks more in winter (xc ski)

• City of Madison parks several times a week for disc golf

18. Are there any reasons that you or members of your household do not participate in recreational activities? If yes, check all that apply.

• A map of rec.areas in our area

• Ability to reserve pickle ball courts

sport that can be loved by all people of all ages. I believe getting a course in Verona would be amazing.

• Disc golf is a great family activity!

• Disc golf is becoming popular and it would be great to have a course

• Disc golf league • Disc golf leagues • Disc golf leagues • Disc golf please! • Disc golf please. • Disc golf senior, adult,

and youth Leagues • Disc golf would be great,

but only if we plan to create a unique and challenging experience that would draw people from other areas. I don’t think the greater Madison area needs more small-scale or beginner-only courses. For inspiration, Vallarta AST in Token Creek, Elver Park’s disc golf course, and Bird’s Ruin in Marshall are all examples of great courses that bring people in from all over to play.

• Disc golf! • Disc Golf!!!!! • Disc golf, please!! • Disc golf, volleyball sand

• Disc Golf. • Disc golf. • Disc golf/ Frisbee golf/

cans with poop bags for people to clean up after their dogs. Because dogs are in the park regardless of the city ordinance prohibiting it.

• Eau Claire, WI Senoir Center has electric bikes available for the community to check out. That is an amazing benefit that Verona could consider offering.

• Electric Bike rentals, fishing ponds, a trap shooting range would be very nice

• Enhanced skate park. Cross Country skiing. Paved bike/walking trails.

• Exercise classes that are challenging for people over 55. ( NOt arm chair exercise!)

• Expand city rec offerings - provide art and music offerings for youth

• Expanded summer programs.

• family friendly discgolf course!

• Family yoga • Groomed cross country

ski trails • gymnastics/tumbling for

kids (ages 3+), martial arts (probably age 4+), swimming (not sure if that's currently offered, it's hard to find info on it if it is offered), ice skating, fitness classes for adults

• Have some youth activities go into higher ages, such as soccer and baseball for kids who want to keep playing after 3rd grade but don’t want to play club level/ little league.

• Horseback riding • I checked "increase

funding for recreational activities" and marked

options for kids not because I am aware of there not being enough options, but because these are important options for kids.

• I don't need care for summer programs or after school programs at this time I just know a lot of my friends and have seen a lot of parents in local Facebook groups that are having a really hard time finding programs for their kids. They have mentioned a need for more spots in the parks program for kids and don't know where to send their kids.

• I don't own horses, but maybe a sequestrum on the outskirts of town

• I have no idea . • I think cooking classes or

pottery would be fun. • I would always advocate

for youth programs. Let’s keep focus on families in Verona. But please allow for foot traffic in sensible ways and not having to fight with bikes silently zipping by. It’s dangerous and is and unfortunately consequence of the Desiree to connect every part of the city with a bike path. It may seem petty, but why can’t bikes ride on roads? Why do we have to pave hiking paths for them?

• I would like to see more options for kids to try something new for the first time. Intro to ballet, gymnastics, tennis, archery, frisbee, etc. Its hard to find offerings like this that aren't a huge time and money commitment.

• I would love to see an outdoor pool that is in Verona. I would also love to see a park that would engage older children age 8 and up, like an adventure park or Ninja course.

• I would love to see zip line, adventure course, obstacle course, outdoor fitness equipment or sculpture park. I don't know if any of these exist in city parks or nearby county parks currently.

• Ice Hockey at VIA • Ice skating classes, after

school art classes, hiking club, more park scavenger hunts, trail with dinosaur sculptures

• I'd like to see more parks and rec programs for toddlers. this is highly peronsal at the moment as the mom of a 3 1/2 year old who is not yet old enough to join youth programs, but would love to participate in a variety or other activities.

• Improve and encourage kayaking and canoeing on Badger Mill Creek, I believe it to be a diamond in the rough, and it provides access to the Sugar River

• Indoor pickleball facilities and senior citizens indoor walking facility or access to Verona High School track

• Indoor recreation during winter months. Teen and or high school age activities.

• Involve young people in park maintenance so they will appreciate the work involved in park maintenance. It may prevent vandalism. Give youngsters pride in their community.

• It would be wonderful to have more options for our TEENS in the community!

• Junior Rangers type program for older kiddos that get them involved in the Parks service.

• Kickball league • Kids with disabilities

programs - hidden included like autism.

• Kid's Yoga, especially outdoors

• Look at Mount Horeb. They offer gymnastics, pool, and other different rec activities for kids that are more affordable

• Martial arts • Martial Arts for school

aged boys. The private businesses are way too expensive. Maybe you already do offer this? My son is 8, and I remember not being able to find a class for him.

• Martial arts, • Martial arts, intro to

fishing, swimming lessons • More camps, after school

programs • More enrichment/creative

classes (like different art classes or cooking)

• More for people over 70. COVID has disrupted so many activities and I for one am not ready to exercise with people unless I can social distance. I liked the senior water exercise classes. I don't like that is part of the parks department.

• more pickle ball courts • More Pickleball courts

and programs!! • More programs like the

“Playground program” except include VASD students, even if the live outside of Verona

• More rec dept activities for the under 5 crowd

• More rec opportunities in the summer.

• More STEM and other types of enrichment activities

• More youth programming. Gymnastics.

• Pickleball classes, pickleball leagues or groups. City Recreation walking groups, biking groups

• Pickleball courts at Harriet Park

• Pickleball instruction Bocce leagues Beginning golf instruction for adults Hiking clubs Walking clubs

• Pickleball leagues • Pickleball tournaments.

Pickleball open-play dedicated times for people that don't have a group to play with.

• Pool • Programming for

children/teens with special needs would be wonderful! Special Olympics has some opportunities, but it’s not the same as what is offered to our other kids.

My daughters can participate in many activities, but not my son. He has missed out on soccer, baseball, basketball, etc. All of our kids should have these opportunities. We need more of these in Dane County and Verona could be a leader here!

• Programs for youth and adults with disabilities.

• Programs like the summer park program, but maybe throughout the year or on a weekend day to encourage kids to get outside and play all year long!

• Promote the activities offered by the senior center, as if it is just another "park & rec" facility. Remove the stigma of that being only where the old people go. It could and should be multi-generational for the benefit of all citizens.

• Protected forest, meadow, wetlands.

• Provide enough. • Public Outdoor Pool.

We very much want our kids to be able to do Outdoor swim lessons/swim team in the Summer. We do not want to do indoor swimming lessons in the Summertime in Wisconsin when children and families can be getting sun, vitamin d, exercise, friendship, valuable outdoor time. Having a public or private/affordable outdoor pool located in the city of Verona would be a wonderful and very much needed addition to the community.

• Public Outdoor Pool. 25 Meter w/ Diving Well

• Public outdoor swimming pool (sorry, trying to show my strong desires

here - I like Verona beach but it's crowded and I think this town should have something in addition to a natural swimming facility) I also think a maker space would be cool

• Public pool • Public pool or water park • Public swimming pool • Putting a disc golf course

in a Verona park. • Recreational sports for

older kids • Restoring natural habitat. • Robotics for kids, board

game hour • Sand volleyball • Sand Volleyball lessons /

teams / leagues. (Especially middle to HS ages) Sugar river kayaking and canoeing and tubing.

• senior fitness center- or a community fitness center

• Shooting Sports. Sporting Clays, Trap, Rifle Range.

• Single track biking • Slow Pitch Softball • Something for kids who

have disabilities. • STEM • Stem club. Codeing • Stem programs for youth,

musical theater dance options

• Summer day camps

• Summer day trip to six flags? Skiing at Tyrol during the winter?

• Summer Music events • Summer programs for

kids. • Swim dive program within

the city. There would be a TON of interest as many many families drive outside of the city to join private pools during the summer.

• Swimming • Swimming lessons in

summer outdoor pool

• Take a look at Mt Horeb or Fitchburg's offerings. They offer much more variety and options than Verona, especially for children. A community pool would also be a great addition.

• Teen rec sports, such as soccer.

• Teen yoga. Verona is so sports heavy, it would be nice to see more variety in offerings. Arts classes would also be an asset so families do not have to rely on MSCR for those things.

• The city needs an outdoor pool

• The city really needs a community center. Relying on the schools for indoor space is very difficult.

• There is a severe lack of after school programs in Verona.

• There should be a rec league for baseball after the age of 10

• There should be an outdoor pool for the kids, adults and seniors in the city of Verona. It is sad that we are a city of this size, that continues to grow quickly and there is not an outdoor pool. I grew up in a town of 1500 people and we had an outdoor pool. I learned to swim there, rode my bike there, spent the summer there. Great memories and experiences. I think it is horrible that we continue to find other ways to spend those dollars that should be going to this resource. Use the new space you are talking about to build a pool. My kids will be too old to still want to join, but it should be done.

• This city is a great place to live for athletic kids, and a terribly unsupportive community for kids invested in the arts (particularly music,

dance, and artistic development). We need to increase support to the schools and the community for those with children interested in careers in the arts. Classes, group activities (such as public art shows, an arts center for classes, more performances focused on different types of music and dance, etc.) and other offerings.

• Trap or Skeet Shooting • Verona has a fantastic

recreational program, but it would be awesome to add rec hockey and rec volleyball.

• Verona needs a community pool with summer programming for kids

• Walking club (senior citizens)

• We need cheaper affordable after school that is of high quality.

• We need to have a pool. It's embarrassing that a city this size does not have a public outdoor pool.

• Winter Paddle Ball courts and Pickleball courts

• Worrier courses, outdoor winter activities.

• Would love more yoga offerings. Also maybe a cooking class.

• Would love to see a pickleball program or league

• XC Trails and Shelter Outdoor Pool

• Yoga • Yoga- was so great at the

library! • Yoga/Pilates in the park,

art in parks for kids • Your Cathedral Point

Park Program is overflowing. I think adding a Park Program at Scenic Ridge would be popular but needs bathrooms. Maybe consider Park Program at the new park behind Country View

when built. Assuming lots of young families will move in near there. Needs bathrooms for sure.

• Youth Archery Youth Cheerleading After school recreation programs (in the school facilities)

• youth cooking • Youth disc golf and

Ultimate Frisbee instruction

• Youth disc golf program. • youth enrichment for

tweens, more baseball fields as it is hard to find open fields to use for fun that aren't under Little Leagues control or booked by them for practice

• Youth golf • Youth pickleball • Youth track club • Zip line! • Zipline, volleyball for

younger ages, expanded summer playground program

24. Please use this space to provide any other comments relating to pedestrian, bicycle, park and recreation services or facilities in the City of Verona.

• I'm looking forward to seeing the Ice Age trail restoration. I'm concerned about standing water and mosquito populations and whether the landscaping will slope better to the creek or drain better. I'd also love to see blueberry/blackberry bushes in the restoration

• It would be really nice if there was a clock on the shelter at Verona Beach that was clearly visible from the beach.

• Would love trails for walking biking connecting all city parks.

• Improve and add sidewalks

• Bike and pedestrian lanes have been improved for those of us living close to Epic but I would like to see better lanes for getting people I to downtown without driving. The city just doesn’t have a walkable vibe.

• I’ll never get behind inviting bike traffic into foot traffic areas.

• I would like lights at the Harriet Park pickleball courts and 2 more courts would be nice. There are cracks though which is disappointing as they aren't even a year old

• I love the semi-rural atmosphere of Verona. Easy access to the hiking/biking trails is a be plus for me. Thanks for all the work you do. Green space is always important even if not used very often.

• The parks are maintained well overall, and the number and variety of parks are an attraction for families.

• I think Verona parks are great! Would love to see some brand new equipment and a discount golf course the most.

• It is not valid to ask people if more, less or the same amount of spending on items is preferred when you don’t tell us how much is currently being spent.

• Due to the popularity of Pickle ball the city of Verona should build more courts. The Harriet park courts are very nice but how often crowded and difficult to get a court. There are plenty of open spaces and areas for many types of activities across the city but pickle ball is in short supply and

demand will continue to increase.

• Wonder why walking & biking lanes are not marked on Nine Mound Rd. This would be a great place for protected lanes, and sidewalks.

• better access to badger creek

• In general, the city has a lack of sidewalk availability especially in older neighborhoods closer to Central Verona. As someone who moved here from Madison, this has been a barrier towards walking and exploring the city more on foot. The main roads do have sidewalks, but the lack of shade trees and long distances (East Verona Avenue for example) can make walking unpleasant in warm summer weather.

• Something needs to be done with traffic. Verona has gotten way too congested. Can’t get anywhere anymore. Verona needs a place for family’s to do things together or for middle/high school kids to keep busy.

• Would like to see more pickleball courts. The 4 at Harriet Park are nice but have had to wait 60-90 minutes on multiple occasions to access. Getting more crowded all the time.

• Perhaps Reach out to B-cycle Trek and see if they will put a pilot program in place for Electric bike rentals. Many people could use them for commuting to save gas, and recreation.

• i'll just reiterate the need for better bike lanes/paths in near the main street/verona ave intersection.

• Need to pave the Verona bike trail

• Investment in parks and recreation will improve our city and quality of life. Would have loved to have had additional amenities when our child was young. We used to spend a lot of time driving outside Verona for activities with her. So would be happy to support development of some of these things for the next generation of Verona families.

• I’d like to see more 10’ wide and lane striping especially for families with young children. It’s safer for anyone using sidewalks.

• The people who mow the grass at the city parks should trim more often. LOL. Other than Main St. being congested I think there has been a huge improvement in pedestrian and bicycle access in recent years. And we love the parks. The bathrooms are always clean.

• Thank you for continuing to add trails for biking, hiking and walking. They are really important to a thriving community that cares for the our land.

• Don’t pave all the trails. Keep working on connecting parks and trails for safe travel of both pedestrian and bike traffic. Keep some wooded/natural areas within parks for exploring and nature viewing.

• Keep up the good work! • I am disappointed that

only Harriet Park has pickle ball courts.. Other tennis courts which have previously had court markings for pickle ball have removed them.

• There are not enough sidewalks in Verona, especially in the older

neighborhoods. My home does not have a sidewalk, and I would be more than happy to deal with snow removal to have a safe walking place for pedestrians.

• More locations for dog walkers to find supplies for picking up and disposing of dog waste. The pet waste is out of hand on all trails and city streets. Maybe more awareness of general rules in this regard.

• Walking dogs on city streets w/o sidewalks to get to trails can be scary. Many people here drive way too fast, more than 10 mph over the 25 mph limit, and there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of the speed limit.

• add more trails for walkers

• Outdoor pool, please!!! • You do well • A disc golf course would

be awesome. Disc golf is growing. At Elver there’s often a 20 to 30 minute wait to start during peak times. If it’s built people will come.

• Disc golf would be great to have

• I love the city of Madison, and it’s suburb cities including Verona. I worked in Verona a few times and it had great infrastructure. (Near festival foods). I know there are a lot of disc golf courses in the area, but adding one more would provide more balance to the amount of players trying to play at the same time. It can get backed up really quick.

• Disc golf course would be amazing. Sport has become incredibly popular.

• we need a disc golf course!

• More trails for folks to walk and bike upon.

• Good park system. Looking forward to the improvments

• Verona had a lot of great green space!

• clean bike paths , fill in holes

• Brochure with maps and locations of parks and recreation facilities, rules, times of operation, sports equipment

• I realize it's a state trail but Military Ridge trail that runs through Verona is in rough shape. Nails sticking out of bridges, potholes, flooding, etc. We love to bike this trail but have had to reduce our use of it.

• We suggest you look into the Eden Prairie Community Center as a model for multi-generational recreation opportunities with a high level of community involvement. Also, make better use of teaming with Madison College and others by providing space to offer some of their classes locally, such as art, music, STEM, dance, etc. Share the existing knowledge base in the region.

• More trees. • I run and bike a lot and

connect into all of the trails we have to offer. These trails are great! With a few connections to main arteries Verona could greatly expand our pedestrian and bike trails to increase access for all. Last year Verona added a paved trail off of Hwy M between locust drive and whalen Rd that will soon connect to Ice Age Trail in 2022. The amount of people walking, biking, or runnning on this paved

path since it was started in 2021 is amazing to me and it connects many neighborhoods and greater access to get to places in Verona more easily. Keep taking these actions as it impacts the quality of life in Verona and makes it a great place to live.

• Enjoy the get on/off by the new high school for the bike trail. Would like to know how accessible the fields and courts are at the new High School.

• The facilities we use are well kept. & staff is always helpful.

• Where the bike path along verona ave meets the little league parking lot needs a ramp. Parking lot is a couple inches lower than trail. Most sidewalks need updating. Currently cracked, risen, or too narrow. More butterfly gardens.

• we rented Harriet park last year for a family picnic and it was perfect! It was clean, lots of outlets for hot dishes, lots of picnic table there and nearby, and there were facilities for the kids to play on. It was great...rent seemed a bit high, but my only complaint.

• not interested • In general, there are

plenty of places to walk and bike, but bike & walking for transportation is hard because business areas are designed for cars.

• They appear to be well maintained.

• Don't try to put sidewalks in old neighborhoods that don't have them. That's just gonna piss homeowners off. I don't want a sidewalk running through my front yard.

• Where Main St becomes County M the traffic can

be tricky and fast. What's the best way for residents coming from Whalen to cross this street and walk/bike over to Fireman's Beach and splash pad?

• This city is not walkable, meaning there aren't enough businesses within walking distance of my house

• Please put sidewalks or bike/walking path on NineMound Rd between Raywood neighborhood (Acadia) and W. Verona Ave

• Would love a community pool

• You're doing amazing sweetie.

• Signs for bikers that they also need to stop at stop signs. Also the city police should start to enforce rules of the road for bikes. There are so many bikers that think that they own the road. They are required by law to also stop at stop signs, yet they very rarely do. But if a car driver doesn't follow the rules of the road - whoa! This has become a HUGE problem.

• Maintain goods sidewalk or paths for the kids to bike in town

• OUTDOOR PUBLIC POOL, PLEASE!

• Please maintain what we have. I see the landscaping at the beach already has dead trees. Weed the plantings. And do something about the weedy flowers along the fence at the Mobil station. It’s at the main intersection and looks terrible.

• we love Verona parks! • We need sidewalks and a

pool. Towns with less than 1000 residents in WI have both of these and we don't.

• We would greatly benefit from a Rec/Community Center

• Skateboard park needs maintenance & updating

• Thanks for asking! • I'm very excited to have a

new park in the city! • Help connect the areas

south of the beltline to the rest of the city in a safe way.

• More/wider sidewalks and bike/multi-use paths! A sidewalk/bike path along M to the new CostCo would be awesome!

• Creating spaces and activities for our our teens is incredibly important for their physical and mental health! THis age group often gets overlooked and they still need access to healthy and safe activities. A public pool, disc golf, basketball courts, tennis, mini- golf.

• link bike trails with bike lanes in the town of Verona.

• more sidewalk and trail options to get from the town of verona to the city of verona would be wonderful.

• Please improve the skatepark or remove it entirely, it's an embarrassment.

• It would be nice to have more of a European style community where there is a pedestrian green space downtown - a square where people can sit, have yoga classes outside, and meet others and be a community.

• Keep it up! I’d like to volunteer.

• Develop more of the mountain bike trails at Badger Prairie, Dane Co and other groups started additional work last year

• Summer youth parks program needs more slots for kids. A nearby

park program filled up in a day so my granddaughter couldn’t participate in something she was looking forward to.

• We very much appreciate the biking/running/hiking trails and the dog parks.

• Add more spots/locations for the summer program. Everyone loves it and it fills up so quick.

• Please continue to enhance the bike trail system. Some work is needed on the military ridge trail between the prairie and the ball diamonds, smoothing/leveling.

• Lights to help cross busy streets

• I think paving the military ridge trail out to Epic would/will (?) be great. It is so rutted and muddy that its hard to use for many months of every year. Thanks!

• I think with careful planning Verona could develop a trail system that could become a desired aspect of the community and as a destination for people outside the community which would bring in money.

• We live in Fitchburg - about 8 minutes from Verona - my son goes to glacier edge because we’re a part of the Verona school district. I want him to be able to participate in programs that his friends from school do, but we have to wait to register because we don’t live in Verona. Spots fill up so quickly that he has never been able to do the programs his friends do unfortunately. I find that frustrating considering we’re a part of VASD (not by choice).

• I think the city has excellent bike trails and parks and I do not think it

is an area that really needs improved

• I love living in Verona and I am grateful for all of our parks! It would be nice if someone checked each park periodically for broken equipment (as mentioned previously the basketball hoops at Epic park have been broken for about 1 year. Perhaps there was no funding to fix them or no one in charge was aware they were broken?)

• Again, I would love to see an outdoor pool that Verona residents can benefit from like the surrounding cities.

• Better, and more, pedestrian and bike infrastructure should be priority 1, with nothing else even close. Get rid of cars, build Verona that serves people.

• I live very close to the technology park where I work yet it isn’t particularly safe to bike down M to get there due to incomplete/narrow bike lanes and heavy traffic.

• Raywood park has a large open area that would benefit from a shelter, picnic tables, restroom and get a lot of traffic

• Thank you for making Verona beautiful!

• Difficult to get to bike trails without driving due to lack of bike lanes and narrow sidewalks

• Please give us an area we can access Sugar Creek for water play.

• The addition of the walking/bike path linking neighborhoods south of town to town and Fireman’s park has been a wonderful addition!

• Let’s make Verona and biking city!

• I wonder if the playground program sign up options could be altered to offer 2

and 3 day options as well as 2-3 sessions throughout the summer so that more people have an opportunity to participate in the program without increasing the staff and resources needed to run it.

• We will need a new outdoor rink if the Verona Ice Arena expands into the current outdoor rink with the second sheet of indoor ice! We are so excited about the second sheet of indoor ice, but would love a place for outdoor skating too.

• Hard to say that city funding should be allocated when we’re Town of Verona-not sure why I got this survey. As far as Verona Rec is concerned we’re considered non-residents so not really encouraged to use/participate in Verona Rec programs. We often use Fitchburg (they include Town of Verona as residents since Verona schools are in Fitchburg-or at least used to) and Mt Horeb, as they’re a bit more welcoming to non-residents. We opt for club sports when possible.

• Need indoor volleyball center, need additional indoor hockey rink to attract tournaments which will be huge revenue generating income for hotels, restaurants in Verona many of which are locally owned. The biggest return on investment would be to add a volleyball court rec center and additional indoor hockey rink for multi day tournaments. Verona is missing the opportunity to host hockey tournaments due to only having one indoor rink. Most other cities in dane county have 2! Verona hockey is ranked

highly in the state. This would draw a ton of money in to the community as hockey has many different levels from under 6 to high school. Each level could have a tournament!

• Mostly good so keep it up!

• We need safe areas for road bikes and my bike course would be nice as well as cross country skiing

• Please consider adding sidewalks/trails to both sides of road along M, Locust bridge, Bruce street. Lots of unnecessary road crossings made by pedestrians because the paths don’t all align.

• I love that the walking and bike paths are maintained. Please continue to improve and add these services.

• We’ve used many of the cities recreation programs and would like to see those programs continue.

• Add some more on typical travel paths.

• More green, more parks, more bike trails, more outdoor options for kids and families are great! Anything to get us off electronics and outside living!

• See above. • Please add LIGHTS to

the Pickleball courts. And build more lighted courts at other parks.

• maintain as all parks are good

• improved access out of neighborhoods to downtown would be helpful especially with Costco going in there will be more traffic and I will be more concerned with allowing my kids out of the neighborhood

• Verona should put in a public pool by fireman’s park & the splash pad.

There is a field that would be a perfect spot for it.

• It’s disappointing that the city doesn’t yet have an outdoor pool. Neither the indoor pool at the high school nor the beach provide an equivalent experience for a child in the summer.

• More parking options near parks

• We have been very pleased with Verona parks and recreation having five kids grow up here.

• Would be great if there was a safer option to cross downtown streets by foot or bike.

• I don’t bike - but I know TONS of people do and I’d love a place for them to ride safely. I am a runner, and a nice running path would be wonderful too!

• It is worth being pro-active about this now while the City is growing. Multi-modal systems are hard to retrofit and Verona is already a patchwork community.

• A comprehensive review of certain streets that are much busier now and should be evaluated to see if sidewalks and or bike lanes would improve safety. Especially walkers and bikers to and from the new high school.

• I love Verona and its parks. It’s a great city.

• An outdoor pool in the city of Verona would be fantastic!

• Thanks for sending this - it was nice to be able to provide preferences/ideas.

• An outdoor pool for our community would be great.

• Can there be a continued walking path that connects the zing park to tamarack. Many people walk there dog this way

(by the water tower next north west end of country view elementary)

• Overall, you’re doing a great job, and I really appreciate the opportunity to weigh in on future plans. This was a thoughtful survey!

• Seems like we need more programming like the park program. It filled up so fast with long waitlists.

• Online options are needed for purchasing trail passes!

• I love biking in Verona. • Ice Age corridor needs to

be restored since many extra trees were eliminated unnecessarily. Nature Sanctuary needs to be restored to go back to a nature sanctuary instead of paved path.

• The entire length of Nine Mound needs to be more consistently pedestrian and biker friendly. In some places its very wide, giving plenty of room for non-vehicles, but its not marked with a bike lane. The north part of Nine Mound is more narrow and has no sidewalk or bike lane. Living in the Raywood neighborhood, we could take Nine Mound north to connect to the bike path that is on Northern Lights or take it south to get closer to the high school or downtown areas, but it is so inconsistent that I don't feel always feel comfortable using it with my young kids.

• No more Spending on bike, walk-in go paths. The ones in place are already underutilized.

• City could mow less of wildflower areas (nine mound berms, detention areas behind Meister Park as example) to decrease costs/increase climate-friendly practices

• I just wish our downtown was more vibrant with

restaurants, shops, things to do. We would walk/bike there all the time!

• We need more sidewalks to increase walkability. We live in Westridge, which has the potential to be very pedestrian friendly, but Nine Mound, W Verona Ave and Cross Country Rd are not pedestrian friendly.

• Bike lanes separated by divider from road would be ideal. Bike lane that doubles for parked cars is not helpful.

• Please have more dedicated crosswalks next to city parks and bike/walking trails

• Public education goes a long way in helping a community understand the diverse population that lives in and around our city, and the users of all these services. Collaboration with local media would benefit our community so everyone understands that we have a diverse population with a variety of interests.

• Verona is growing and beautiful parks, trails and sidewalks would be something for all to enjoy

• I am a frequent user of the Military Ridge trail, specifically around epic. I would like to use it more in the summer, but there is little to no shade. I end up walking through neighborhoods in search of shade. I think planting more trees would be very helpful.

• the downtown sidewalks and lighting sucks, make it all match south main!!!

• Need sidewalk on Nine Mound Rd between Pollow and Cross Country. Pedestrians walk along road to get to bike trail.

• Expand the paved bike path

• You need to establish and enforce better rules for

the special parks (e.g. Military Ridge Reserve, Eastview Heights Nature Sanctuary). Also establish new special parks like those. Look for corridors through the city, especially new subdivisions, where minimal development is done with the goal of having natural areas where wildlife can live and pass thru. You have to break up the block after block of houses with something more than tidy parks. Think of them as green highways.

• Do not plow the paved path in East View Heights Sanctuary as you had promised in 2021.

• Continue to expand and improve bike paths

• Please continue to emphasize restoration of the East view nature sanctuary/Ice Age Trail. The parks department is the most logical organization to organize work days to promote restoration.

• Dedicated Pickleball Courts

• We could REALLY use an outdoor community pool. The splash pad shelter, playground, and landscaping really need more attention. They are often dirty and there is a lot of garbage in and around the landscaping. Please dedicate more resources to keep the splash pad and beach nice and clean.

• Trying to bike north of PD and west of M is tricky, lots of traffic at intersection

• Connect Madison to Verona on Woods Rd

• I have met with the City in the past to discuss developing a mountain bike and multi use area in the parcel on the southeast corner of Northern Lights Road and

PD (similar to Quarry Ridge). I would welcome the opportunity to discuss planning and funding sources for this area. Derek Johnson (608.712.0652).

• I would like to see more accountability from bikers. They often zip across PB and Main Street and I’m always afraid I’m going to hit them when driving. I’d like to see some bridges or something installed to help keep the flow of traffic for both cars and pedestrians/cyclists.

• Other cities in wisconsin paint bike lanes on streets that have no sidewalk in residential areas. I found this helpful for both cars and pedestrians because it clearly identifies the area of use. I often see people walking in the middle of the road or cars driving way too close to the side where people are walking.

• Overall really enjoy and appreciate the park staff and facilities!

• It was so surprising to me when we moved here that Verona does not have an outdoor pool. Also, we noticed that we could not access the outdoor ice skating rinks because there were no skate rentals. In Monona there is a beautiful park with skate rentals in the winter.

• A disc golf course would be great for Verona!

• Disc golf please, can come with pay to play daily/annual passes, to counter initial cost, pay for upkeep/maintenance etc

• Consider more bike lanes, a pump track, and off road trails.

• Please consider a disc golf park. Available for all ages and brings people

around the state and out of state.

• I reiterate, disc golf would draw a consistent number of people to any park. Disc golf benefits greatly from a welcoming and friendly community, and is a very fun sport for any age range and skill level.

• We need an outdoor pool!!!

• I’m uncomfortable on the bike path being a mom with 4 boys. I’d like to see more opportunities for biking in town

• If a disc golf course were available, I would use it weekly!

• Better lighting throughout town. It is so dark at night. Feels unsafe

• Disc golf course would be great. I live in Madison, <10 minutes away from Verona, and would frequent any nearby park if this were offered.

• Verona has grown a lot in the last 10-15 years and it continues to show it's potential. provide bike paths that connect businesses and parks

• Disc golf. If a proper course is put in, the city can hold tournaments. This could bring in good money for the local economy.

• The reason I chose to live in Verona rather than any other suburb is specifically because of the Ice Age Trail, county parks, and easy access to state parks. I use these spaces typically 6 days a week, and they are extremely important to me. I would love any additional funds to go toward maintaining and/or increasing these green spaces for our community. I would also like to see more green spaces for "silent sports" (such as hiking and bird watching) since there are already many parks with

playgrounds and other spaces for kids, and quiet places that truly feel like nature are the top priority for me.

• The zip line park in cross plains is really cool. That would be a beet addition for Verona.

• Disc golf is just as complicated as golf but way more affordable for the community and can make money for the community. Which gives everybody the exercise in relaxation of Disc golf!

• good job on Badger Mill Creek trail restoration. Looking forward to the tree plantings

• Disc Golf Course • See #23 • I think developing multiple

disc golf courses would be a great revenue source and quality of life improvement for the city

• Disc Golf Course is needed

• I would love to see more educational placards around identifying native plants and ecosystems and teaching people about the natural areas and such we have here. Like why is the pond at the park and ride a hot spring that never freezes?

• Let me just say that overall I think recreation services and facilities are quite good here and your work is appreciated! That said, I do want to say one thing relating to pedestrian paths: Even if it's impossible/prohibitively expensive to install sidewalks everywhere in the neighborhoods next to Westridge, I really think the city should find a way to install actual paths or sidewalks along at least

one side of major streets (Edwards and Basswood?) for kids in our area to walk to school safely. I truly think it's crazy to expect kids to do so in the street in "walking lanes." It's a constant source of angst amongst Westridge parents who realize their kids will have to do so. Posts fly on social media fast and furious and, as someone who has lived it, it really is distressing. You end up bending over backwards to find ways to get your kids to school to avoid having them walk nearly a mile in a lane right next to oodles of cars (some of them driven by new drivers who are themselves heading to school). It was truly a relief when my kids were old enough to drive, but I think this issue needs to be solved—especially with Sugar Creek there now. Honestly, these proposed paths would also be nice for adults who would like to walk that direction to town as well! Thank you for all of your hard work and your consideration of my idea :-).

• I’d love to see a bridge for bikes and pedestrians over County M near Whalen.

• Disc golf • I do hear a lot of feedback

about certain parks filling quickly for the summer playground program.

• Please install disc golf course

• Verona needs a disc golf course

• The tennis courts near the old high school used to be open all day. Now they are only open after school and other tennis

courts are now pickelball. We need more tennis courts that are open during the day, assessable to everyone.

• The city has done a great job connecting the city with more bicycle and pedestrian paths. However, I think more can be done to make a truly good option for residents to get around the city. There has been talk about paving some of Military Ridge east of the new High School, however, that means we will be losing wonderful unpaved trails. I feel if those are to be paved, something needs to be done to bring more unpaved trails that feel more natural.

• An Outdoor Swimming pool in the city would be a huge amenity, and should have more strongly pursued with the sugar creek redevelopment.

• A pump track would be awesome!

• street lighting • I think you should expand

the summer playground program since there is such a high demand, and it is a great way to get our kids outside in the summer.

• We should design a separate network of bike/pedestrian routes that allows anyone to safely and efficiently get to different parts of the city without encountering car traffic. We should make efforts to reduce traffic traveling through our city.

• More sidewalks in neighborhoods around schools!!

• Need more times for summer program. They full up so fast that lots of kids miss out on doing fun thinks. I would even pay a little more to pay for high schooler or college

kids to run more programs.

• Would love to see the city better connected throughout by paved- multi use paths so kids (and adults) can navigate to school and other activities safely.

• Really enjoy the interconnected bike trails

• A bathroom/pavilion at Cross Country park would be really nice

• Additional restroom and shelter facilities at parks would be useful, as well as updated and maintained equipment.

• Current parks are great, but would love to see more we’ll-maintained wooded/shaded walking and running trails near or along badger mill creek and connecting to ice age trail

• The Parks and Recreation Department is a great asset to the City of Verona.
