OUR HISTORY

1983Francesco, Ivano and Riccardo Zamberlan officially took over the management and established Zetadi s.r.l. They began the production of hard chrome plated bars in commercial lengths working for third parties.

The historic cooperation with Bianco Group began: Sicam S.p.A. (Italy) and Protubsa S.L. (Spain) were thefirst companies to become customers, joined by the remaining foreign subsidiaries of the Group after a shorttime. This strategic approach was a key factor in the internationalization of Sidergamma.

2004

Production capacity increased significantly through the installation of one new peeling machine andseveral grinding lines. Start-up of the first automated online controls.

2000

1995Sidergamma formed an exclusive partnership with Acciaierie Valbruna for the supply of hard chromeplated stainless steel bars. Even today, this partnership is still in place and is something we are very proud of.

The Zamberlan brothers established Sidergamma s.r.l. and started mass production of chrome plated barsand tubes under their own brand.

1990

Domenico Zamberlan established Cromatura Zamberlan Domenico for the supply of hard chrome plated steel bars. The sons Francesco, Ivano and Riccardo Zamberlan continuously supported their father Domenico.

Today the total covered warehouse space is 12,000 m² on a site of 20,000 m².Sidergamma has customers in 30 different Countries.

2020 A new warehouse for finished goods of 3,600 m² was completed. The recent installation of a new peeling machine has enriched Sidergamma machinery fleet not only in terms of production capacity but also in terms of quality.

The internationalization process was consolidated thanks to the commercial promotion of the Bianco Group.

2016

2015 Sidergamma merged with the Bianco Group.

Zetadi and Sidergamma merged. In addition to simplifying internal processes, this decision strongly supported the promotion of Sidergamma on the international markets.

2013

To allow greater raw material storage, the warehouse was extended and capacity increased by a further 1,200 m².

2018

The trademark Gammaplus ® was officially registered and the production capacity was further strengthened to reach the 15,000 tons per year.

2019

2021The installation of an additional photovoltaic system allows us to significantly reduce energy needs from traditional sources by bringing our self-production to over 800 kWp of power and about 850,000 kWh per year. Increases in capacity were realised through the addition of two new grinding lines and an automatic polishing system.

2022Installation of a new continuous chrome plating line that allows Sidergamma to expand its dimensional range and bring the annual production capacity to over 17,000 tons.

CHROME PLATED BARS:

The steel bars subjected to the chrome plating process are available in different delivery requirements, in order to obtain specific properties.

NORMALIZATION

Heat treatment at specific temperatures followed by gradual cooling in controlled atmosphere. During this process, the steel structure becomes more refined and improves its impact properties (Perlitic structure).

INDUCTION HARDENING

The surface of the steel bar is heated by electric induction followed by fast cooling. This process leads to a high surface hardness, but also to fragility and low impact values (Martensitic surface structure).

QUENCHING

Quenching (heating to a specific temperature, followed by rapid cooling in water or oil) and tempering (reheating to a specific temperature below the critical point) to achieve specific microstructures: this process leads to a good hardness and resistance and it reduces its fragility in comparison to induction hardening (Sorbite structure).

RANDOM LENGTHS:up to diameter 19 mm lengths 3-5 m, from diameter 20 mm lengths 5-7.5 m.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTSEN 10305-1 seamless cold drawn tubes (standard stock).EN 10305-2 welded cold drawn tubes (upon request).EN ISO 286-2 regulatory requirement for tolerance of outside diameter.

MAIN APPLICATION FIELDSChrome plated tubes are used in the production of hollow piston rods, shafts for cylinders, linear actuators and in every application where weight saving is essential, like agricultural and forestry machinery, lifting hydraulic platforms and common industrial equipment in general.

Seamless tubes according to EN 10305-1, externally ground and hard chrome plated hexavalent chromium free (CrVI free), specifically meant for production of hollow piston rods for hydraulic cylinders. The outside chromium layer grants superior surface microhardness properties and corrosion resistance, combined to high dimensional precision of the outside diameter. The same chrome plating process, upon request, could be applied to welded cold drawn tubes (EN 10305-2) too.

FIXED LENGTHS: all tubes can be supplied cut to fixed lengths, quick delivery and quality of service are unaffected by using modern automatic saws. The standard tolerance on fixed lengths is -0 /+5 mm, more restrictive tolerances can be agreed during the negotiation of the order.

CHROME PLATED TUBES AND TELESCOPIC TUBES:

17c h r o m e p l a t e d b a r s a n d t u b e s

The steel grade used for the standard production of seamless chrome plated tubes and telescopic tubes is E355 according to EN 10305-1 in delivery condition “stress relieved” (+SR). On request, upon prior agreement of conditions and minimum quantities, it is possible to provide tubes in other steel grades and delivery conditions among the ones described in this catalogue.

COLD DRAWN / SOFT (+LC acc. EN 10305 / BKW acc. DIN 2391):

the final heat treatment is followed by a suitable drawing pass (limited reduction of area). With this process high mechanical properties are obtained, whilst partially reducing residual stresses of the metal for material in condition +C.

COLD DRAWN / HARD (+C acc. EN 10305 / BK acc. DIN 2391):

no heat treatment after final cold drawing. This delivery condition allows the product to reach considerably high mechanical properties, but residual stresses remain due to the cold deformation process.

STRESS RELIEVED (+SR acc. EN 10305 / BK+S acc. DIN 2391):

after the final cold drawing process, the tubes are stress relieved by heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere. This further reduces residual stress due to the cold deformation process, whilst preserving high mechanical properties and rigidity. This process also allows the material to reach good impact properties.

ANNEALED (+A acc. EN 10305 / GBK acc. DIN 2391):

after the final cold drawing process, the tubes are annealed in a controlled atmosphere. In this case residual stresses due to the cold deformation process are further reduced, but with a higher reduction of mechanical properties too.

NORMALIZED (+N acc. EN 10305 / NBK acc. DIN 2391):

after the final cold drawing process, the tubes are normalized in a controlled atmosphere at a temperature exceeding the austenizing temperature. This treatment almost completely eliminates residual stresses of the metal, which considerably increases impact properties, but yield and tensile properties are drastically reduced.

Mechanical and chemical properties of steel grades, as well as their possible delivery conditions, are grades accordingto the norm of the feedstock tubes subjected to the chrome plating process.Feedstock tubes are manufactured by the cold drawing process, which provides dimensional precision, while differentdelivery conditions are foreseen to help reach various levels of mechanical properties, according to specific needs.Standard grade E355+SR is regularly ready-on-stock. The “stress relieved” delivery condition offers a good compromisebetween the mechanical properties and the rigidity needed to obtain a shaft, reaching in the meanwhile impactproperties of a minimum average value of 27 Joule at -20°C (*).

Thanks to the steady commitment to reduce energy consumption, in 2017 Sidergamma was granted important funding from The Local Government of Veneto for the installation of new “high frequency current electronic rectifiers” connected to the galvanic tanks.

The chrome plating processing involves the use of current transformers, called rectifiers, to rectify the alternate current coming from the distribution network (AC) into direct current (DC). The direct current (DC) allows the chromium deposit in the chrome solution on the bars to overlay.

The replacement of outdated rectifiers with low AC/DC conversion efficiency and high energy consumption in favor of the installation of new rectifiers allowed not only significant energy saving and lower environmental impact but also higher performance in the chromium deposit process.

The Executive Decree of the ERDF Management Area N.10 of November 27, 2017 published in the Official Gazette of theVeneto Region n. 118 of December 7, 2017 has admitted Sidergamma s.r.l. to the benefits of the tender for POR ERDF2014-2020 action 4.2.1 “Incentives aimed at reducing energy consumption and emissions of climate-altering gases ofenterprises and production areas including the installation of renewable energy production plants for self-consumption,giving priority to high-efficiency storage technologies".
