Status of Requests

• New way to treat your request since 2018-07

• 6 catalog managers (5 constants + 1 temporary)

• 1550 treated requests in 17 monthes

• 1460 new added elements

• 90 refused elements

• 25 opened tickets

• Few days to treat your request

• Average time is decreasing a bit

• Improvement of your request quality, thanks

• New temporary catalog manager coming soon

• We still find recent and unsubmited elements


Last Updates

• Screw ISO 4762 family:

• Dirty flag removed

• Threaded representation on 2D improved

• 3D models are cleaned, more stable

• Big families are really heavy to correct, thanks for your patience

• SCEM 44.XX.XXX families:

• Rough materials of CERN store in metal and plastic

• More than 90% are in SmarTeam

• Used for detail drawings: link the rough ITEM to your designed ITEM

• 3D models can be used with «Save As», never as a final part

2. Search in Dashboard

• Goal: show you differences, teach you how to do and how to avoid traps

Sometimes too many results:

Example: 200+ !!!



• Both search are OK, the best depends what you search

• You will find the Catalog elements if it exists

• You can also browse the SmarTeam tree

• Dashboard: faster but sometimes too many results

• Search by Attribute: need more attention in text search but higher

probability of Catalog element result

• 200 + results = proof of necessity to submit your model


Pressure Certification Elements

• Context:

• At CERN, many designs must get pressure certification

• It’s important to be able to know it through BOM in title block

• Commercial element can get this certification… or not

• Some elements didn’t have in the past, but now YES

• Pipes, Elbows, Tees, etc…

• Norms: EN 10253-4, EN 10216-5, EN 10217-7

• Why do we keep both version?

1. For old design, as built

2. To improve quality-traceability for new design. Project Leaders ask for it.

• Why don’t we do 2 versions of the same doc?

1. Impossible to have both version in the same CATProduct (machine section area)

2. Impossible to make a difference in the BOM list, no version on ITEM
