Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore - Recognition of M.Ch(Plastic Surgery) qualification for 1 (One) seat in respect of students being trained at Vydehi Institute Of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bangalore. Read: the Assessment Report (August, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of M.Ch(Plastic Surgery) qualification for 1 (One) seat at Vydehi Institute Of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bangalore granted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (August, 2014) and decided to recommend that M.Ch. (Plastic Surgery) qualification granted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore in respect of students being trained at Vydehi Institute Of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bangalore be recognized for 1 (One) seat and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee further decided that the

recognition so granted shall be for a maximum period of 5 years from the date of Notification upon which the Institute shall have to apply for renewal of recognition. Failure to seek timely renewal of recognition as required shall invariably result in stoppage of admission to the Postgraduate Course. 202. The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment Report (June, 2014) and decided to recommend that MD(General Medicine) qualification against increased intake from 06 to 08 seats granted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore in respect of students being trained at Vydehi Institute Of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Bangalore be recognized and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

other teaching facilities for Recognition of DM(Nephrology) qualification against increased intake from 03 to 04 seats at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (August, 2014) and decided to recommend that DM(Nephrology) qualification against increased intake from 03 to 04 seats granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai in respect of students being trained at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu be recognized and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

other teaching facilities for Recognition of MD(General Medicine) qualification for 2 (Two) seats at Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research Institute granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (June, 2014) and decided to recommend that MD(General Medicine) qualification granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur in respect of students being trained at Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research Institute be recognized for 2 (Two) seats and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee further decided that the

recognition so granted shall be for a maximum period of 5 years from the date of Notification upon which the Institute shall have to apply for renewal of recognition. The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed University - Recognition of

MD/MS(OBG) qualification against increased intake from 04 to 05 seats in respect of students being trained at Rural Medical College, Loni, Maharashtra. Read: the Assessment Report (June, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of MD/MS(OBG) qualification against increased intake from 04 to 05 seats at Rural Medical College, Loni, Maharashtra granted by Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed University.

The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report (June,

2014) and decided to recommend not to recognize MD/MS(OBG) qualification against increased intake from 04 to 05 seats granted by Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed University in respect of students being trained at Rural Medical College, Loni, Maharashtra because of the following facts:-

1. Form 16 of all the faculty members were issued by the college and had not

been downloaded from TRACES website. These forms did not have certificate number and so entries could not be verified from the Income Tax website.

2. Services like family Welfare, Cancer, Infertility & Mamta clinics are provided in a common room in OPD.

3. Unit-wise distribution of teaching faculty & Residents not given. 4. Other deficiencies as pointed out in the Assessment Report.

211. The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai - Recognition of DM

(Hepatology) qualification for 1 (One) seat in respect of students being trained at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Read: the Assessment Report (August, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of DM (Hepatology) qualification for 1 (One) seat at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (August, 2014) on the standard of examination and other teaching facilities for Recognition of DM (Hepatology) qualification for 1 (One) seat at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and decided to defer the matter and seek clarification from TEQ about the eligibility criteria (Qualification and Experience) prescribed for DM (Hepatology). 212. Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur - Recognition of DM (Medical

Oncology) qualification for 2 (Two) seats in respect of students being trained at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvanthapura, Kerala. Read: the Assessment Report (August, 2014) on the standard of examination and

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (August, 2014) and decided to recommend that DM (Medical Oncology) qualification granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur in respect of students being trained at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvanthapura, Kerala be recognized for 2 (Two) seats and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee further decided that the

recognition so granted shall be for a maximum period of 5 years from the date of Notification upon which the Institute shall have to apply for renewal of recognition. Failure to seek timely renewal of recognition as required shall invariably result in stoppage of admission to the Postgraduate Course. 213. The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai - Recognition of

M.Ch(Endocrine Surgery) qualification for 1 (One) seat in respect of students being trained at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Read: the Assessment Report (August, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of M.Ch(Endocrine Surgery) qualification for 1 (One) seat at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.

The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report (August,

2014) and decided to recommend not to recognize M.Ch(Endocrine Surgery) qualification for 1 (One) seat granted by The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai in respect of students being trained at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu because of the following facts:-

1. Dr. Aravindan Nair, Professor is Honorary Professor & Head, which is not

as per Regulations of MCI. 2. Total number of Surgeries have decreased from 2011 to 2012 & 2103. 3. Total number of IPD have decreased from 2011 to 2012 & 2013. 4. Other deficiencies as pointed out in the Assessment Report.

214. Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik - Recognition of

MD(Pathology) qualification for 2 (Two) seats in respect of students being trained at Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education & Research, Pune, Maharashtra. Read: the Assessment Report (June, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of MD(Pathology) qualification for 2 (Two) seats at Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education & Research, Pune, Maharashtra granted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (June, 2014) and decided to recommend that MD(Pathology) qualification granted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik in respect of students being trained at Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education & Research, Pune, Maharashtra be recognized for 2 (Two) seats and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Kerala University of Health Sciences - Recognition of MD(Radiotherapy)

qualification for 2 (Two) seats in respect of students being trained at Govt Medical College, Kozhikode, Calicut, Kerala. Read: the Assessment Report (June, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of MD(Radiotherapy) qualification for 2 (Two) seats at Govt Medical College, Kozhikode, Calicut, Kerala granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment

Report (June, 2014) and decided to recommend that MD(Radiotherapy) qualification granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences in respect of students being trained at Govt Medical College, Kozhikode, Calicut, Kerala be recognized for 2 (Two) seats and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Assessment Report (August, 2014) and decided to recommend that M.Ch(Cardio Thoracic Surgery) qualification granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences in respect of students being trained at Government Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala be recognized for 1 (One) seat and included in the 1st Schedule to the I.M.C. Act, 1956.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee further decided that the

recognition so granted shall be for a maximum period of 5 years from the date of Notification upon which the Institute shall have to apply for renewal of recognition. Failure to seek timely renewal of recognition as required shall invariably result in stoppage of admission to the Postgraduate Course. 218. Kerala University of Health Sciences - Recognition of MD(Anaesthesiology)

qualification for 2 (Two) seats in respect of students being trained at Sri Gokulam Medical College Trust & Research Foundation, Trivandrum, Kerala. Read: the Assessment Report (June, 2014) on the standard of examination and

other teaching facilities for Recognition of MD(Anaesthesiology) qualification for 2 (Two) seats at Sri Gokulam Medical College Trust & Research Foundation, Trivandrum, Kerala granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences.

The Postgraduate Committee considered the Council assessor’s report (June,

2014) and decided to recommend not to recognize MD(Anaesthesiology) qualification for 2 (Two) seats granted by Kerala University of Health Sciences in respect of students being trained at Sri Gokulam Medical College Trust & Research Foundation, Trivandrum, Kerala because of the following facts:-

1. The number of Surgical cases performed are less, even though registers

show that they are doing more cases. On 27/06/2014 (i.e. day of assessment), only 3 cases were operated till 12 noon.

2. Audiovisual aids like LCD projector, Computer are not available in the in the class room or the department.

3. Teaching programme registers are not displayed. 4. There are no publications from the department in last 3 years. 5. Total number of major surgeries has decreased from 6, 144 to 5, 699 during

the 3 year period. 6. Pain clinic is run by Physiotherapists. 7. All Postgraduates did not submit Form-16, which means they are not paid

any Stipend or Salary. 8. Other deficiencies as pointed out in the Assessment Report.

219. Kerala University of Health Sciences - Recognition of MD(Pharmacology)

qualification for 2 (Two) seats in respect of students being trained at Government Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala. Read: the Assessment Report (June, 2014) on the standard of examination and

The Postgraduate Committee considered the Compliance Verification

Assessment Report (19.06.2014) and compliance along withCouncil assessor’s report (April, 2013) and decided to recommend not to recognize MS(General Surgery) qualification against increased intake from 08 to 16 seats granted by Manipur University, Manipur in respect of students being trained at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal because of the following facts:-

1. Bed occupancy is 60 % on day of assessment. 2. SICU is shared with general ICU which is under renovation. 3. Dr. G.S. Moirangthem, Professor & HOD has no experience as Asso. Prof.

in General Surgery and therefore his promotion as Professor is not as per Regulations. His experience in Gastro Intestinal Surgery department cannot be equated with that in General Surgery department.

4. Weekly operative load is only 10 Major and 20 Minor Surgeries, which is very less.
