B.Basic Theory

Osmosis termasuk ke dalam gerakan pasif pada mekanismetranspor pada membramn plasma. Gerakan pasif adalah gerakanyang tidak membutuhkan energy.

Osmosis adalah difusi air atau larutan dari larutan hipotoniske larutan hipertonis melalui membran semipermeable.(Osmosis is included into passive movement in transport 

mechanism on plasma membrane. Passive movement ismovement which does not consume energy.

Osmosis is the diffusion of water or solvent from hypotonic tohypertonic solution by passing through semipermeablemembrane.)

C. Langkah Kerja (Steps)1. Kupas dan potongkentang dan wortel menjadi delapan bagian dengan massa yangsama. (Peel and slice the potato and carrot into 8 pieces with thesame mass)2. Buat larutan gula dangaram dengan konsenterasi larutan 5%, 10%, dan 15%. (Makesugar and salt solutionwith the solution concentration 5%, 10%,and 15%)

3. Letakkan sepotongkentang dan sepotong wortel pada masing-masing cawan petriyang berisi air maupun larutan gula dan larutan garam secara

bersama-sama.(Put a potato sliced and carrot sliced into each of  petri cup which is filled by water and sugar solution and salt solution togetherly )4. Diamkan selama 15menit. (Let it away for about 15 minutes)5. Angkat wortel dankentang, kemudian timbang untuk mengetahui massa akhir.(Lift the potato and carrot, then weigh them to know the last mass )

E. DiscussionPada larutan garam, konsentrasi air pada kentang

lebih tinggi dari konsentrasi air pada larutan garam itusendiri. Sehingga, osmosis terjadi dari kentang ke larutangaram melalui membran sel kentang. Karena air dalamkentang berrpindah ke larutan garam, berat kentang akan

berkurang.Pada larutan gula, konsentrasi air pada larutan gulalebih tinggi dari konsentrasi air pada kentang. Airberosmosis dari larutan gula ke kentang. Sehingga, beratkentang bertambah.

(On salt solution, the concentration of water in the potato is higher than the concentration of water in thesalt solution its self. So, osmosis occurs from potato to thesalt solution accros potato’s cell membrane. Because thewater inside the potato move to salt solution, so theweight of potato will be decreased.

On the sugar solution, the concentration of water inthe sugar solution is higher than the water’sconcentration in the potato. Water do the osmosis fromsugar solution to potato. So the weight of the potato isincreased.)

Berdasarkan percobaan, kita dapat menyimpulkanbahwa osmosis adalah perpindahan air dari konsentrasitinggi ke konsentrasi rendah.

Based on the experiment, we can conclude thatosmosis is water movement from high concentration tothe law concentration.
