Balaji Law College had arranged for a jail visit twice this academic year, one for the final year
(dt: 23/09/17) and the second visit was arranged for the first year (dt:24/03/18).The students
were briefed by Professor Aarti Tayde about the working of the jail administration, prison
reforms, the problems of jails in India and the technical difficulties faced by the police, handling
the overcrowded jail. There, practically the students came to know the problems faced by the jail
authorities. The authority informed the students that there are total 1371 jails in India out of
which 133 are central jail, 333 are district jails, 809 sub-jail, 44 open jail, 30 special jail, 19
women jails.
The women jail at Yerawada is the first separate jail established in India for women. The total
offenders in jail were 4871 on the day of visit. Out of that 2323 are convicts, 2326 are under
trial, 1363 with charge of murder, 74 lal patti, 37 male and 2 female who are to be executed with
death penalty, 29 are transferred from other jails.
Students got an opportunity to talk to the inmates in reformatory, where they were working on
different things. These activities help them in several ways and simultaneously help the
authorities for having better control on them. The jail premises seemed to be peaceful as
compared to the rumors in the mind of the students.

With strong entry, clear objectives, strategic planning and a focus on meeting the needs of
Drishti 2k17 Competition , Sri Balaji Society’s Balaji Law College students fetched the
glorious victory of Drishti 2k17 Cup along with the cash prize of INR 1,00,000. A

uniqueness around itself. A massive drumming up campaign was created for Drishti on the social
media and on the internet with more than a thousand five hundred people ‘liking’ and sharing the

Management, (BIMM), Balaji Institute of Telecom Management (BITM), Balaji Institute of
International Business (BIIB) and Balaji Institute of Management and Human Resources
Development (BIMHRD) did not not participate in the event this year, instead they played the
part of the organizers assisting BIMHRD which took the onus of managing this prestigious event
from start to finish, ensuring its success.
The events of Drishti tested the mettle of the participants’ sportsmanship skills, talent and

competitiveness as they gave their best in competing in the three different categories of events in
Drishti, namely:
