These are the Proceedings of the Sixth Annual university-wide seminar WORKSHOP 97which will take place at the Czech Technical University in Prague from 20-22 January, 1997.
The aim of the seminar is to present and discuss the latest results obtained by researchersespecially at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Technical University in Brno,VSB - Technical University Ostrava and at collaborating institutions.

OPTICAL TOMOGRAPHYAND ITS APPLICATION
IN PLASMA DIAGNOSTIC

In the framework of our project we focus on the optical tomography. The aim of thisresearch is to develope not only an experimental apparatus appropriate for visualization of3D phase objects but, particularly, to find methods for the 3D phase objects reconstructionbase on their projections [1, 8}.
'Pornographic setup the setup for multidirectional holographies interferometry is indescribed in [3] which enables an observation of phase object by using three holographicplates covering 180 degrees range. On the other hand, we modified the setup in [10], whichenables us to use only one holographic plate for tomographic reconstruction. In present setupwe used a rotating stand in order to rotate object by beforhend given steps. Moreover, a lowpower He-Ne laser (up to 20mW) can be used instead of a high power Ar laser [8] becausethere is no point in splitting the laser beam.
In the second part of the project: "Laboratory for Optical Tomography and its Appli-cation in Plasma Diagnostics" the plasmatron was assembled which produce a plasma usefulas inhomogeneous phase object. This plasmatron is water-cooled and burns in nitrogen. Itssmall size (9cmx 13cm) presents an advantage in using in a laboratory. As a plasmatroninput, the source for electrical welding was used.
Plasmatron was used in the experiment described in [4]. Up to now the radial spaceconfiguration of temperature was determined under the assumption of the axisymmetricplasma. A new experiment where the plasma symmetry will be disturbed is in a stadium ofpreparation. In their experiment an interference strip distribution will be recorded as mea-sured from two various directions in a real time. Software for evaluations of this projectionis prepared already. As a result the three-dimensional temperature distribution in plasmawill be established.
The interference pattern was recorded by CCD camera and in the following a signalwas transformed by using computer software to 512x512 pixels. Knowing phase distributionalong a line one can calculate the change of refractive index. The line can be chosen bysoftware.

ARRANGEMENT AT A MICROTRONFOR CALIBRATION OF DOSIMETERSIN ELECTRON AND PHOTON FIELDS

Homogeneous and symmetrical photon and electron fields in a water phantom, com-plying with the recommendations stated in [1] and [2] of a size 10x10 cm2, stable andreproducible, are of basic importance for a reliable dosimetric metrology and calibration ofsmall dosimetric devices.
Special electron beam characteristics from a microtron, namely the lack of azimuthalsymmetry of current density distribution and different emitances in the plane of accelera-tion (horizontal plane in our case) and in the vertical plane, which is not the case whenlinear accelerators are used, have to be taken into account when using a circular microtronas a source of relativistic electrons for the generation of fields for dosimetric metrology. En-couraged by the results of Brahme and Svensson [4-5] reached with electron beams from acircular microtron differing from the microtron built and operated at our faculty in the wayof beam extraction and by the system of beamlines with magnetic bending and focusing ele-ments, we undertake the construction and testing of a collimating system with various fieldflattening absorbers, scattering foils, circular and rectangular diaphragms to obtain fields ofdesired form and quality. Final results of investigation of collimating systems for generationof electron and photon fields for dosimetric metrology are presented together with basicinformation concerning the circular microtron used as a source of relativistic electrons formetrological purposes. Isodose plots of the photon and electron fields (Fig. 2 and Fig. 4reproduced from [6]) and absorbed depth dose curves for photon energy 10 and 19MeV andelectron energy 9.8MeV, 14.6MeV and 18.7MeV (Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 reproduced from [6])demonstrate the possibility of using a circular microtron as a source of homogeneous andsymmetrical fields for calibration of dosimetric devices.
