The text of ISO 1942:2009, Corrected version 2010-03-01 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 106 “Dentistry” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 1942:2010 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 55 “Dentistry” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2011, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by May 2011.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

This document supersedes EN 21942-2:1992, EN 21942-3:1993, EN 21942-4:1993, EN ISO 1942:2009.

Foreword

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.

International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.

The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

ISO 1942 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 106, Dentistry, Subcommittee SC 3, Terminology.

This second edition of ISO 1942 cancels and replaces ISO 1942-1:1989, ISO 1942-1:1989/Amds 1 to 5, ISO 1942-2:1989, ISO 1942-2:1989/Amds 1 and 2, ISO 1942-3:1989, ISO 1942-3:1989/Amds 1 and 2, ISO 1942-4:1989, ISO 1942-4:1989/Amd 1 and ISO 1942-5:1989 which have been technically revised.

In this corrected version of ISO 1942:2009, the text “For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply” in Clause 2, page 1, has been deleted.

In the alphabetical index on page 74, for the entry “obturating point”, the term “(deprecated)” has been deleted.

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO).
