SPIC MACAY—LETS ENLIVEN OUR HERITAGE
It has become very important to sensitize our youth towards Indian culture. This can only be done through the Soci-
ety for Promotion of Indian Classical Music Art and Culture Amidst Youth (SPICMACAY), which organizes various
programmes in educational institutions to bring the Indian youth closer to their roots. With these thoughts in mind
the school hosted an Odissi dance lec dem presentation by renowned artist Ms. Geeta Mahalik under the aegis of
SPIC MACAY on 1st August 2018 in the school premises. The artists were accorded a traditional welcome and the
programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by school Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra and guests.
Padma Shri Geeta Mahalik is one of the most outstanding exponents of Odissi dance in India today. She is the recipi-
ent of central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Odisha State Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Odissi dance. She
addressed the gathering and gave students an insight on classical dance forms of India and their significance. She also
demonstrated the different mudras wherein the students learnt a lot from her through lec dem methodology and
cleared their doubts during interactive session. She was accompanied by Shri Prafulla Dash on Mardala, Shri. Pras-
anta Behera the vocal artist, Shri. Affzal on Violin. She also spoke about Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi‟s
Swatch Bharat abhiyan and advised the students to keep their surroundings clean. Her classical presentation and
way of explaining the details mesmerized the gathering.

The school celebrated “LITERATI-2018 a Festival of
Languages” in the school premises on Saturday, 18th Au-
gust 2018. Literati 2018 was dedicated to the memory of
Late. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Around Thirty schools
all throughout Delhi NCR participated enthusiastically
in various events like Debating, Poetry, Story Telling,
Article writing, Movie Making, Poetry Enactment, Ger-
man Song, Voicing the Opinion, French Song, Sanskrit
Nritya Natika and Quiz across five different languages.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest Shri Dinesh
Shastri, DEO Gurugram and other esteemed judges like
Ms Anne Kessler, Anjali Verma, Suruchi Mundra,
Rashmi Choudhary, Bhavna Chauhan, Vivek Bhasin, Dr. Indu Rai, Prof Ramraj Upadhyay , Dr Mukul
Sharma, Dr. Harish Bandhu, Lina Rakesh Harjai, Ms Ankita Joshi , Swati Ganguli, Suman Chawla, Anand
Arora, Gaurav Pahwa, Ritu Vaishnav, Tulika Banerjee and Neha Lal who inaugurated the fest by lighting
the lamp followed by chanting of the Gayatri mantra. The audience was spellbound by the addresses given
by the Chief Guest & judges who enlightened the children about the importance of Education & Co-
curricular activities. The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony graced by the Chief Guest,
judges and the school Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra. The overall trophy was won by AIS-46 which being the
host school passed it to Indraprastha School, Dwarka for their commendable achievements in various
events. The Principal congratulated the winners and extended a vote of thanks to all present there for mak-
ing the show a great success.
LITERATI 2018—FESTIVAL OF LANGUAGES

Amity school has always nurtured the dream of enabling stu-
dents to possess not only academic brilliance but also other
qualities such as exemplary leadership skills, team spirit, sports-
manship etc, when they pass through the portals of their school.
The school hosted 3rd Amity cup Football tournament from 06th to
09th August 2018. This event not only helped in boosting the mo-
rale of the young players but also reignite interest in the
sports. 12 Outstanding Teams from Delhi-NCR participated. The
final match was played between Amity International School, Sec-
tor-46, Gurgaon and DPS Sector-45 where in DPS-45 won the
match. The Principal blessed the finalist teams and gave away
the prizes. During the four day event 15 matches were played
amongst the 12 teams.
AMITY FOOTBALL CUP—EVERY GOAL COUNTS
A Dental hygiene session was conducted in school for
the students of grade 1 and 2 by Dr. Ambica Bhar-
gava, a dental surgeon on 6th August 2018 .The
workshop stressed on the importance of oral hygiene,
methods to achieve oral hygiene and healthy food
habits. The content and presentation were designed to
ensure that the young audience could easily relate to
the topic. A song on „Brushing teeth‟ made the learn-
ing fun. Dr. Bhargava also apprised the students with
new terms related to oral care which fascinated the
young minds. Students thanked school Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra for the enlightening session.
DENTAL HYGIENE WORKSHOP

The school organized a Cross Country Race on
19th August, 2018 (Sunday) to promote the edu-
cation of the girl child- RUN FOR AMI-
TASHSA, wherein students, teachers, alumni
and parents participated whole heartedly . The
Run for Amitasha- Education for girl child is an
initiative by AIS-46, Gurugram to make society
aware of the importance of education for the less
privileged girl child. Approximately 400 enthu-
siastic students, alumni, parents and staff mem-
bers participated in the run. Races were con-
ducted under different categories. At 6 a.m. in
the morning the 3 km race for the first category
for students of Class VI-VIII was flagged off by Guest of the day Ms. Poonam Singh (Traffic Inspector).
Another race of 5 km was flagged off at 6.30 am for students of grade IX –XII, Staff and Alumni. The
event culminated with the prize distribution of all the winners who were awarded with certificates and tro-
phies for their marvelous performances. Amitasha girls also participated in the race with zeal and enjoyed
the event. The day concluded by the vote of thanks proposed by the school Principal Ms. Arti Chopra .
THE RUN FOR AMITASHA- EDUCATION FOR GIRL CHILD

The school students tried to generate awareness
among the Sector 46 locality residents and the mar-
ket about the problem of water wastage. Almost
150 students participated in the rally and marched
along the streets of Sector 46 locality with the slo-
gan “Water is Precious” , “Save Water Save Life”
among others for about a distance of 2 km. The
teachers along with other staff members also par-
ticipated to raise awareness for the cause. The stu-
dents took an oath along with public and participat-
ing members to control the wastage of water. The
students distributed stickers and pamphlets to the
onlookers. School Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra
while speaking on the occasion said that students have tried to spread awareness about water conservation
through rally, poster making and slogan writing. Amitians also planted sapling in and outside the school
premises and took a pledge to be more sincere and devoted to keep the planet pollution free. The Princi-
pal told the students about the importance of the environment and the need to save it for future genera-
tions and make the earth clean and green.

GROWING MINDSET WORKSHOP—THINKING BEYOND!!!
A workshop on the „Growing Mindset‟ was conducted by Ms. Kanchan Chehal for the students of class 5
on 2 August 2018 in the school premises. The workshop began with the lighting of the lamp by the
School Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra, Head Mistress, Mrs. Sonia Nagpal and the guests present. The
workshop was inspirational as the journey and experiences of various famous personalities was shown
and explained as examples which enlightened the students. Ms. Kanchan Chehal explained that the stu-
dents‟ mindset – should be a Growing Mindset. Fixed mindsets is one where student believe their
skills ,talents and overall intelligence are fixed traits whereas Growing Mindsets means where student
know that they can develop skills and talent through effort and persistence as well as by being receptive
to lesson and feedback. They generally believe they can improve through hard work and new learning
methods. The latter indeed is the key to success was reiterated by the speaker. The Workshop culmi-
nated with a song and dance performance by students and vote of thanks was proposed towards the end..
Students of class VIII were taken for a field visit to TERI
GRAM which was interesting and quite informative. They
showed the earth tunnel system that is enabling the main-
tenance of a temperature of around 22 to 25 degree celsius
in 15 rooms using a single fan. They explained the process
of energy conservation and also showed the bio gas pro-
ducers showed along with the vermi compost pit and many
medicinal plants and described their roles in daily life.
They made students understand the process of plant tissue
culture and demonstrated the technique using a banana
variety. They took students to a green house to enable the
correlate their conceptual understanding with practical
learning. A documentary was shown to students in the be-
ginning to enable them understand the working in different regions of TERI. Visit to TERI gave students a
practical exposure of what they study as energy conservation strategies and techniques of culture.

UBC SESSION—SCALING GREAT HEIGHTS
The school organized “UBC SESSION -INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES” in collaboration with
Amity Career Counseling and Guidance cell (ACCGC) on 20th August, 2018. The Guest Speaker for the
session was Ms. Tanushree Bhattacharya, UBC, India Office. Around 25 students, of Grade XI and XII
accompanied by counselors attended the session. The Program started with lighting of lamp, post that
Coordinator, Ms. Manisha Khanna, welcomed the guest. The speaker, Ms. Tanushree said that as the most
international university in North America, University of British Columbia draws people from all over the
world, with diverse perspectives, talents, beliefs and interests. UBC has 8 noble laurels, either students/
professors. It is a top research institution that gets its funding from government / private body. The cam-
pus has world-class facilities mingle with picturesque mountains, lush forests and modern cityscapes.
2.5% GDP is spent on post secondary education in Canada, which covers the health, security and stay of a
student. After graduating a student can stay in Canada for three years and work. TOI, has reported Canada
as one of the most live able city. Intimate learning environment and the programs offered in UBC, Van-
couver and UBC‟s Okanagan campus are unique. She informed the students that in terms of campus/ uni-
versities they mirror each other. After the presentation, there was an open house for questionnaire. Ishita
of Grade XI thanked Ms. Tanushree for conducting an informative session for students regarding the ad-
mission process and the requirements of the university. The workshop culminated with the vote of thanks
proposed by Ms. Taruna Barthwal.
Haryana Police conducted an informative session with students of grade IX & X to educate them about
Durgashaktiharyanapolice app, which can be downloaded on android phones. In a threatening situation,
person may call or even give a missed call for immediate assistance.

“The Earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth”. This was the echo of the project
VASUDHA initiated under the guidance of our dear Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan who has en-
visaged every Amitian to be responsible and committed to the cause of environment. The major theme
for Vasudha is: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION for a clean, green and healthy nation.
The first phase of VASUDHA for classes I-XII witnessed exemplary enthusiasm of the students in giving
information through their charts, model S, file work etc. The class teachers and mentor teachers guided the
students in the research work undertaken in this regard.

On Tuesday, 21st August, a workshop on „Cyber Safety‟ was conducted by Mr Rakshit Tandon and was
attended by the students of Classes VI - IX & XI(CS & IP). He spoke about Cyber Safety and Staying
Safe Online. He explained them to be very cautious about their online identity and to ensure that personal
information such as date of birth, address, phone number is not publically available on social media plat-
forms such as Facebook, SnapChat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter etc as it may be misused. How to en-
hance protection by deploying additional layer of security to access the online accounts or doing online
financial transactions by enabling two factor authentication (2FA) - username with password and OTP on
the mobile phones were also taken up. He sensitized the participants about the horrifying cyber-crimes
that take place all over the cyber world. In most of the cases the internet crimes were committed by the
children under the age of 18. He asserted that these crimes were a direct result of internet habits of chil-
dren. It is because of lack of cyber hygiene or „Netiquettes‟. He emphasized on Awareness of cyber law
(IT ACT 2000) – under Sections : crimes & punishments. At the end he explained the role of cyber con-
gress in the school simultaneously showing them to all the students in case they have any problem or is-
sues related to cyber safety. The students found the workshop very useful, informative and interactive.
WORKSHOP ON CYBER SAFETY—LET’S LEARN NETIQUETTES
Another coveted trophy of the year- The Global Times Runners Trophy for Newspaper Making Contest is
won by Amity G46 and it is a commendable achievement. Poorvi Kar has been chosen for the GT School
Time Achievement award. The GT School Time Achievement Award is one of the highest honour given
by the newspaper and applauds students who have contributed immensely to the newspaper throughout
their school tenure. Congratulations team GT and all others associated with it.

The school celebrated “Carpe Diem – Let‟s Seize the Day” The Inter school MI Fest 2017
On August 31, 2018. Students from 20 schools from Gurgaon showcased their inherent intelli-
gence in the intricately woven competitions designed to challenge, recognize and reward abili-
ties across the eight intelligences. Eight competitions were organized i.e. Rhyming zone, Think
Tac Toe, Merging tales ,Communiqué, Digisp@ce#, Spy Fukuwarai, Green weenies, Mystical
Steps. Eminent Judges from different spheres graced the occasion for judging the competitions.
The closing ceremony whitened the applauds and acknowledgment given to the students for the
effort and performances. Judges appreciated the concept of the event and efforts of teachers
and students to make the event successful. The overall championship was accolade to DAV
public School- Sector49.ACP Usha Kundu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

A well initiated Plantation Drive was organized by the senior school students to keep up the
motto of Clean and Green India. “Say No to Plastics” is the mission that they wish to convey
to their Juniors too..
