There have been various incidents happening all around the world which have been the fall out of our negligence towards our ecosystem. Prolonged summers, rainfalls, tsunamis and other natural calamities happening at such great ex-tent, makes us realise that this is the high time to change things and take up some corrective measures. The re-cent event of the bush fires in Australia which can be considered as one of the major evidences of the glob-al warming is heart wrenching, killing almost a half a billion animals and destroying most of its biodiversity.

Every little step taken by a person counts, at least trying our best and do something at our level which will be ben-eficial for our environment. On this thought, department of Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences (AIBAS) took the initiative to look after the plants of the Amity University Chhattisgarh. The students of AI-BAS visited the grounds of university campus as a part of their Environmental Science Project, the main ob-jective being to adopt 2 plants each and nurture them.

The students of Amity Business School (ABS) had previously planted more than 200 saplings on the ori-entation day in the month of July 2019. So, the entire batch of AIBAS took responsibility to take care of at least 2 plants each. All the eighteen students reviewed and identified 2 plants for themselves which they will be looking after for the duration of their stay in AUC. This assignment was delegated to the students as an individual responsibility to make sure the plants sur-vive and grow properly. They were asked to pick any 2 plants and measure them and make a note of it. They were instructed that they should record and as-sess the growth of the plant at a regular interval as it needs at least a year before it can be self-sufficient. Understanding that the current need of the hour is not only to plant more trees but also to maintain and take care of the existing trees. On this note every student took a pledge to be responsible and be actively involved with project they have taken up. Students of AIBAS made a promise to themselves to regularly visit the grounds and nurture these trees as well as take further measures to help make their surroundings eco-friend-ly by adopting more pro-environmental behaviours.

POETRY

“A New Sunshine”I watched the sun rising, blooming and glaring,my droopy eyes, with a tinge hopeful tries;Waiting for me to rise and shine, before the end of illumi-nating lights;Staying still under the roof, I watched the sun like a goof;Still captured in the surrounding’s darkness, and a bunch of troubling nightmares;I saw the sun giving hope, light, life, But for me, I never felt that I’m even alive; All the fears present were now screaming on my mind, but the sun left a gleam of hope shined;A wave of courage flew through my life, which sign that I can survive;Again the day and the night has arrived, but this time there was new hope that no-one recognized.

When I’ll be a mother,I would tell my daughter that humans are giant crea-tures, they have reduced their number for being peace with the reek of sadness, There beauty of existence has reduced to statistics,And this spectrum is like a history now,I would tell her, I dont desire desire you to burry your presence in graves with affliction yet strive to show as reaching thousand miles way, I pray for her to dig out the countless sources and im-agine power on her hands,I would tell her to be superior, detailed with realisations and stronger to strive. She would scream when there will be a domination for the scattered dreams and falls. But I would compile her to be the bonfire in multi phas-es for the number of times she breathes, she breathes boldly.
