The Embassy has facilitated a meeting

between business communities from

two countries on 20 May 2017 in War-

saw which was attended by 4 Indone-

sian companies and several Polish

companies, namely. PT PLN (State

Owned Company in Energy/Electricity

Sector), PT Rekayasa Industri (private

company in energy sectors); PT Indo-

poland (private company in energy

sectors); and the Indonesian Stock

Exchange).

They met with several Polish compa-

nies among others Grupa Powen-

Wafapomp SA, RAFAKO, the Polish-

Indonesia Business Council/ Business

Development Director KRIOS, Lawyer/

Consultant K&G Gates, Warsaw Stock

Exchange, TOMO Group, the Polish

Trade and Investment Agency, KUKE.

The meeting discussed open opportu-nities in the sector of energy, direct trade, direct flight, tourism and fi-nance.

The Delegation of PLN, Rekind and Indopoland had also the opportunity to continue their meeting with their respective partners (Grupa Powen-Wafapomp SA and RAFAKO S.A.) on 22-26 May 2017 in Katowice, Jaworzno and Krakow to follow up the positive results in energy/power plant sector in Indonesia. PLN also attended energy forum in Kraków.

Indonesian Stock Exchange visited Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) on 22 May 2017 and was warmly received by Vice President of the Management Board, Director Market Development, Relationship Manager and Head of Client Relations Unit.

At the meeting, both parties informed

about the developments at their stock

exchange, as well as about the

institutionalization and the

performance of their stock exchange.

Besides, they also discussed the

possibilities to materialize the

cooperation on information

sharing, technology

partneraship, exchange of visit, and

other matters regarding stock

exchange.

Cooperation.

The two Ministers highlighted some

areas of cooperation, among others,

maritime infrastructure, shipbuilding

and seaport, maritime connectivity,

maritime economy, tourism, and

capacity building. The two Ministers

affirmed the need to combat, prevent,

deter and eliminate illegal,

unregulated, and unreported (IUU)

fishing. The two Ministers also agreed

Indonesia and Poland, based on

mutual interests and benefits, Rafako

S.A. (Poland) and Gema Group

(Indonesia) signed Letter of Intent in

order to foster the bilateral

cooperation in the fields

encompassing the business activities

of both parties on 9 June 2017.

On 26 May 2017, the Delegation form

West Sumatra Province of the

Republic Indonesia led by the West

Sumatra Governor accompanied by 4

heads of municipals/districts of West

Sumatera as well as high ranking

officials visited Warsaw and met Ursus

and Tomo Group at Ursus Office. The

meeting was to discussed the offer of

West Sumatera Governor for the

companies to invest in the sector of

agriculture, energy, tourism and

transportation.

M e e t i n g s

In order to further explore the potentials

of the two countries, the Embassy

carried out several meetings with Polish

business communities. Since Poland has

comparative advantage in technology

and innovation sectors, the Embassy

often meets with several Polish

companies and encourages them to

explore market in Indonesia as well as to

contribute to the Indonesian

development, especially in infrastructure

development and service sectors like

health, education, transportation, power

plant, mining, etc.

In the period of April – June 2017, the Embassy conducted meetings with several Polish leading companies such as Meden Inmed (medical engineering company) to explore the opportunity in medical equipment supply (clinic/hospital/physiotherapy and joint venture in Indonesia). The Embassy met Remontowa to explore the participation of Remontowa in Indonesian maritime infrastructure development, among others ferry fleet and shipyard.

Considering the experience of Ursus Company in developing public transportation (bus) and agriculture equipment, the Embassy initiated a meeting at Ursus office to explore the possibility of Ursus to cooperation with its partner in Indonesia to develop public transportation in Indonesia. In order to explore cooperation in the infrastructure development in Indonesia, the Embassy met Polish Alternate Director in Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to discuss the cooperation between Indonesia and Poland in the AIIB scheme in conducting AIIB projects in Indonesia. Within that period, there were organized several several meetings with Polish-Indonesia Business Council that was positive in terms of discussing how to encourage the business communities from both countries to develop cooperation and as well as discussing other economic (trade and investment) opportunities.

Poland. The meeting aimed to discuss

the areas of cooperation that were

raised during the visit of Indonesian sen-

ators to the Ministry of Maritime Econo-

my and Inland Navigation in March 2017.

Both Sides stressed that the most im-

portant topics in bilateral cooperation

are the fishery and fish processing, coop-

eration in the field of higher education,

cooperation between Polish and Indone-

sian ports and cooperation in the field of

shipbuilding.

In April – June 2017, the Embassy has received inquiries from business communities of two countries. Polish companies’ inquiries concerned shrimps, cosmetic, tea, rubber, paper, consumer goods, fertilizer, furniture and coconut oil. Indonesia, companies inquiried coffee, motorcycle parts, food products, pharmaceuticals and furniture.

In order to obtain the adequate information regarding development and recent regulations on Indonesian investment and trade, the Embassy also assigned its Staff to attend the coordination meeting of Indonesian

Mission in Europe which is yearly held in one of Indonesian Missions in Europe. The meeting was conducted in London on 5-8 April 207.

The Embassy usually conducts market research on Indonesian potential products to be exported to Polish

market. One of the commodities that we took interest in recently is coffee. According to the initial research, there is a big opportunity for Indonesian coffee to be further exported to Poland due to the consuming trends of coffee. It is reported that within years, the consumption of coffee is to increase by 80% with an average at 3 kg per year.

agenda of the Promotion and Tourism

Section of the Embassy. It is organized

monthly with various journalists to

establish good communication,

connections and enable networking

for further promoting of Indonesia’s

business and tourism destination to

the most popular media in Poland.

Last three months we have meetings

with: Director of Rzeczpospolita Daily,

Editor in Chief of Business Traveller,

and Chairman of Polish Media

Association, As a result of this

meetings we have few clippings of

Indonesia in Business Traveller,

publication about Jakarta and Bali.

On 30 May 2017, Mr. Satriyo Pringgodhany, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Warsaw paid a visit to the Office of the Polish Journalist Association. During the visit, Mr. Satriyo met the President of the Polish Journalist Association Mr. Krzysztof Skowroński and the Secretary General of the Polish Journalist Association. At

the meeting, Mr. Satriyo explained the current development of the bilateral relation between Indonesia and Poland which shows a positive development particularly in the field of economy and tourism, the increasing awareness of the Poles on Indonesia thanks to the role of media and opportunities of cooperation between the Embassy and the Polish Journalist Association.

Realizing the importance of media campaign, the Embassy welcomes the Polish Journalist Association participation to assist the Embassy in promoting the country to the Poles. In this regard, the Embassy will share information to the Association if there is any activity, event and important delegation visit for media publication.

S a s k a K ę p a F e s t i v a l – P r o m o t i o n a n d To u r i s m

Organizers of yearly event of Saska Kępa Festival invited Indonesian Embassy to participate during the event as an exhibitor. The event took place in Warsaw, at Francuska street, which during the weekend on 27 of May 2017. The festival was visited by Warsovians wanting to explore other countries as well as enjoy the music, taste the food and try other attractions, which the organizers prepared for them. Indonesian stand was prepared by the Embassy in

cooperation with IDN (Indonesia Diaspora Network). At the Indonesian embassy stand, not only distributed promotional brochures but also attracted the audience with Indonesian food, provided by Warung Jakarta, clothes sold by IDN as well as the possibility of photo with traditionally dressed Indonesian students. Another attraction for audience visiting Indonesian booth was poco-poco dance.

C o n f e r e n c e o n M a r i t i m e S e c t o r i n G d y n i a

Polish Chamber of Commerce and Polish Chamber of Maritime Commerce, organized a seminar Maritime Sector – Possibilities for Business Expansion for Polish Companies to the Asian Markets. The conference took place in Gdynia on 1st of June 2017. Speakers of this Conference are Mrs. Yin Yin Myint, Ambassador of Myanmar, Mr. Satryio Pringgodhany, First Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy, Mr. Maciej Wilk, Hong Kong Trade Development Council Office In Warsaw consultant, Mr. Jerzy Dróżdż, ambassador, representing the Polish National Chamber of Commerce. Representatives of maritime companies and institutions also participated in the event.

Mr. Satriyo Pringgodhany delivered a presentation on “Maritime Sector Indonesia: Business Opportunities for Polish Industries” which highlighted maritime as one strategic issue for the development of Indonesia. He emphasized that the policy of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia focuses on maritime economic development among others building maritime toll-road to improve inter-island connectivity, revitalizing and modernizing the shipping industry, procurement of various vessels and ferries, and building fish processing center. This endeavour require not only huge amount of investment but also modern technologies which create enormous business opportunities to the Polish maritime industries.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affaires visited Poland on 8-10 June 2017 to accept invitation extended by the Polish government on the occassion of the 5th International Maritime Forum in Szczecin. During

the visit, Minister Luhut also held meetings with government and business representatives, during which mutual cooperation in many sectors has been discussed. The signing of Polish –Indonesian agreement on Maritime Cooperation has been a main topic and attracted a lot of attention of Polish Media from Polish Radio, local and domestic stations as well as Polish National TV. participated in the visit to Białowieza

National Park. The visit was organized

by the Ministry of Environment of the

Republic of Poland on May 8-9, 2017.

The group of diplomats was hosted at

the welcoming dinner by the Minister

of Environment Mr. Jan Szyszko. In his

speech, the minister stressed that the

purpose of the visit was to show the

diplomats posted in Poland what the

real condition of Białowieza National

Park was, as it become a widely

discussed issue on the national and

European level.

The mentioned issue is a way in which

the Polish government handles the

problem of bark beetles in Białowieza

National Park. One of the methods to

fight the insect is to cut badly infected

and very weak trees. According to the

Polish officials, deforestation of

infected trees means active

protection.

organized an event “Indonesian

Culture Promotion: Munggahan and

Interreligious Tolerance” on May 24,

2017 at the Ambassador’s Residence

in Warsaw. The purpose of the event,

among others, was to show the Polish

society that Indonesia is a tolerant

nation respecting those with different

believes. The Embassy invited

Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, H.E.

Salvatore Pennacchio as well as

several Indonesian priests studying or

residing in Poland. Among the guests,

there were also present

representatives of two Islamic Centers

in Warsaw. Apart from the Indonesian

community and Indonesian students in

Poland, several ambassadors

participated in the event, among

others Ambassadors of Morocco, Iraq

and Bangladesh.

expressed his appreciation and

highlighted that such events may

serve as an example of creating

positive relations between followers

of different religions, especially

between Muslims and Christians in

Poland.

Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw gave

its support to the Center of South-East

Asia and the Center of Indonesian and

Malay Language Studies at the

Institute of Linguistics of Adam

Mickiewicz University (UAM) in

organizing the Indonesian Day Festival

in Ethnographic Museum in Poznan on

26-27 May 2017.

The event aims to promote the

language and culture of Indonesia

among Poznan society. The two-day

event consisted of several

presentations and workshops

concerning Indonesian batik, puppet

theater wayang kulit, Balinese dance,

Indonesian language, and cuisine.

Besides that, the audience could

admire several performances, among

others, dance tari piring, martial arts

pencak silat, and Indonesian songs.

Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw took

part in the Saska Festival on May 27,

2017 and presented an Indonesian

stand. The festival is organized every

year by the City of Warsaw to

welcome the summertime.

During this year festival, the Embassy

cooperated with the Indonesian

Diaspora Network and the Association

of Indonesian Students in Poland. IDN

decided to sell Indonesian tradicional

food, such as bakso meat balls, yellow

rice, chicken sate, fried bakmi noodles

and some other snacks. Meanwhile,

Indonesian students sold Indonesian

souvenirs while wearing traditional

Indonesian clothes.The visitors of

Indonesian stand could also enjoy

dancing poco-poco dance along with

Indonesians.

The Kolintang instrument was handed

to the Asia-Pacific Museum Director,

attended by around 100 people,

among others by

representatives of other

embassies, friends of the

museum and Indonesian

students in Poland.

The event was crowned with

Kolintang music performance

by Warsaw Gamelan Group,

with such songs as Rayuan

Pulau Kelapa, Bengawan Solo,

W moim ogrodzie (In my garden-a

Polish song), and Oye Como Va (Latin

jazz song).

The 2017-2018 edition, Indonesia be-

come the first country in Southeast

Asia that has honor to be the guest

country. The festival will be officially

inaugurated by

International Cracovia Cantans, held in

Cracow on June 8-11, 2017. The

Indonesian choir was the only Asian

choir chosen to represent Asia in the

competition and became the 1st

winner in the category of Female Choir

and the 1st winner in the category of

Folk and Popular Music.

The title of their work was “Nata de

Coco Cellulose as a Calcium Binder

from Egg Shell Waste in Imitation

Bone Formation”. The team consisted

of 3 students, i.e. Ms. Siti Nurmalasari,

Mr. Cokorda Gede Agung and Mr.

Prameswara Satrya Dharma, and their

teacher Mrs. Putu Rusanti. The

competition and won bronze medal.

In order to celebrate the Idul Fitri Day,

on June 25, 2017 Indonesian Embassy

in Warsaw organized a meeting with

the Indonesian community in Poland.

The event was attended by around

200 Indonesian citizens residing in

several Polish cities. Guests could

enjoy traditional Indonesian food such

as lontong rice, opor chicken, rendang

beef, and guling goat.

On this occasion, the Indonesian

community also had a chance to meet

a famous Indonesian film producer

Raam Punjabi who visited Warsaw.

An Audit Team led by Deputy Chair of the General Audit

Board visited Warsaw on 17th to 24th June 2017. The team

consisted of officials from the General Audit Board and the

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The

purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive audit

on the property to be purchased by the Embassy as the new

Embassy’s premises.

During the visit, the Team interviewed appraisal companies and discussed the technical due diligence reports produced by the appraisal companies. The Team also held discussions with representatives of a law firm to seek legal advice in matters pertaining to the purchase of the said property.
