• Rebekah and Jacob were very close, but Isaac liked

Esau best.

• One day, Esau came home from the hunt so hungry

he made a serious mistake,

• Jacob was cooking some stew, and Esau wanted

some so badly he traded his birthright to Jacob for a

bowl of stew.

Giấc Mơ Của Gia-cóp – Jacob and His Dream


• Khi Gia-cóp đi về vùng đất của tổ tiên, ông dừng lại ở

một nơi bên vệ đường.

• Ở đó, ông buồn ngủ và mơ thấy một chiếc thang dẫn tới

trời.

Chuyện Ông Giu-se – The Story of Joseph


• Gia-cóp (còn gọi là ít-ra-en) thương Giu-se nhất trong

• Ông may cho Giu-se một áo đặc biệt với nhiều màu sắc

để tỏ lòng thương cậu.

• Một hôm, Giu-se kể cho các anh nghe về một chiêm bao

• However, when the brothers saw some merchants who were on their way to Egypt passing by, they decided to

sell Joseph to them as a slave.

• They then took Joseph’s coat and covered it with blood so that Jacob would think that he had been killed by a

wild animal.

• God protected Joseph, even when he was a slave in

Egypt.

Giu-se Bên Ai Cập – Joseph in Egypt


• Pô-ti-pha mua Giu-se từ những người lái buôn và đặt

him in charge of his household.

• But Joseph was accused of a crime by his master’s

wife and Potiphar had him put in prison.

• The Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in

whatever he did.

• In prison, Joseph was right in telling the cupbearer

and the baker what their dreams meant.

• Joseph also explained the two dreams of the

Pharaoh: “God has revealed what he is about to do.”

• Joseph told the Pharaoh that there would be seven

years of abundance followed by seven years of

famine.

• The Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of the whole land

of Egypt.

prisoner and told them to come back with their little

brother.

• Later, when he saw his little brother, Benjamin,

Joseph told his brothers who he was and forgave

• He made the Israelites work hard at slave labor.

be killed:

Chúa Gọi Mai-sen – The Call of Moses


• Một ngày kia, khi Mai-sen đã khôn lớn, ông thấy một

người Ai Cập đánh một người nô lệ Do Thái.

• Mai-sen giết tên Ai Cập để cứu người Do Thái và rồi

trốn vào nơi hoang địa.

• Trong sa mạc, Mai-sen gặp Giê-thơ-rô và cưới một

người con gái của ông.

• Mai-sen tập họp toàn dân lại và nói:

• “Mọi nhà phải làm thịt một con chiên hay một con dê,

lấy máu bôi lên cửa nhà.

• Con chiên phải là con đực và không quá một tuổi.

• Thịt thì nướng lên và ăn với bánh không men và rau

đắng.

• Các ngươi nên giữ phần còn lại để ăn trên đường.

• Chân đi dép và tay cầm gậy.

• Have sandals on your feet and a cane in your hand.

• This is the Passover of the Lord.

• Seeing the blood, He shall pass by and there shall be

no mourning in your house.

• God sent the angel of death to kill all the first-born

sons, even the Pharaoh’s.”

• The Hebrew families were protected from this

plague.

• All the Egyptians were very sad, and finally the

Pharaoh agreed to let the Hebrews go.

• The Hebrews packed their wagons and carts and

headed for the wilderness, praising God and Moses

for their deliverance.

• God led the Israelites out of Egypt.

• By a pillar of clouds in the day, and by a pillar of fire

at night, He led them to the edge of the sea.

• God’s people were scared.

• They could not get away because the sea was in front

of them.

• Moses did what God told him to do.

• Water poured out of the rock.

• The people drank all they wanted.

sides and carry the Ark without touching it.

• Inside the Ark were the two stone tablets with the Ten

Commandments.

• The priests carried the Ark before the people when

they moved from place to place.

• Chúa gọi Mai-sen lên đỉnh núi và trao cho ông mười

điều răn mà Chúa đã khắc trên đá bằng chính ngón

tay của Ngài.

• Khi Mai-sen xuống núi, dân chúng đang ca hát, nhảy

múa và thờ lạy tượng bò làm bằng vàng.

At every mass, you always see the bread and wine. The priest

blesses the bread and wine during mass. They become the body

and blood of Jesus.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said,

"Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink

from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the

forgiveness of sins."


When the priest says "this is my body", at that instance, through the miracle of

transubstantiation, the bread and wine truly becomes the Body, Blood, Soul

and Divinity of Jesus. It is His true Presence in the form of bread and wine. It

is Christ.


Our parents work hard and sacrifice for us so that we can grow up and be happy. We can see this love around

us often, since we see our parents in person. Jesus loves us the same way. He sacrificed His life for us because

He loved us so much. Although we don’t physically see Him, we get to experience His presence every time

we go to church.

Here is a good passage to read from John, chapter 6:

32Then Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven,

but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33For the bread of God is that which*

comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’ 34They said to him, ‘Sir, give us this bread always.’

And Jesus made it so that we can always receive Him, through the miracle we witness when we attend Mass.

It is very important that we understand how important this miracle and Jesus’ presence is. If we do not believe

that the bread and wine is turned into Jesus, then we hurt Jesus’ feelings very much. It’s like when we tell the

truth, but nobody believes us.

"...He took bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread,

gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you, and eat

it: this is my body which will be given up for you".

Au Nhi Boy to Huynh Truong: If the bread and wine become Jesus, why does it still look like bread and

wine?

Huynh Truong to Au Nhi Boy: When the miracle of turning bread and wine into Jesus happens, the

“substance” is changed by the power of the Holy Spirit, but the appearance doesn’t change. You do special

changes like this too, but the opposite. When you grow up, you will change the way you look but you will still

be you, meaning your “substance” hasn’t changed, but your appearance has.

Au Nhi Boy: When Mass is over, does the body and blood of Jesus turn back into bread and wine?

Huynh Truong: No, the body and blood of Christ cannot turn back into bread and wine because they are no

longer bread and wine at all. The Body of Christ that is left after Mass is usually called the “Blessed

Sacrament” and kept in a special place called the tabernacle.

It is very important to bow our heads when the priest raises the bread and wine and says "...He took bread and

gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take this all of you, and eat it: this is

my body which will be given up for you".

By bowing our heads we are adoring Christ. Also, by bowing we are acknowledging His presence. It’s like

when you meet an adult and you greet them respectfully by saying “Chào Ông” or “Chào Bà”. You are

welcoming Jesus’ presence when He arrives during Mass to be with us.

What is more important is to believe and appreciate Jesus’ presence. Faith is very important in how we receive

Jesus. Our faith and belief is how we are able to receive Jesus spiritually.


1. Remember when you pray, to thank Jesus for His sacrifice and His being with us always.

2. Share with your family what you learned about the presence of Jesus. It is always good to remind others

about how important Jesus’ presence is and that we understand it.

When you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, your body will absorb the nutrition from the food and convert them

into body energy so you can do things like running, walking, playing, studying…etc….

When you are hungry, your body is tired, dizzy and dying for food, and possibly dead if you are not eating anything for

quite sometimes, would you be happy when someone offers you food to satisfy your hungriness?

What is about your soul? Would it need food to survive?



Dear Jesus, thank you for making yourself become food for us. Although, you don’t taste like

chicken, I know you can nurture my soul and give me strength to help me stay away from sin. Thank

you Jesus. Amen.

One way of living our faith would be to receive Jesus everyday. We should always receive God because he promises to be

with us always. It is important for us to do so because we want to remind ourselves how Jesus is a big part of our lives.

Even if we don’t go to church everyday, we can learn a very short prayer to say when we think of Jesus and want Him to

be within us.

Prayer:

Jesus, we love you.

Jesus, we’re happy that you want to be with us.

Jesus, remain with us always.

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, chúng con yêu mến Chúa.

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, chúng con cảm thấy hạnh phúc khi được Chúa bên cạnh.

The Story of Saint Dominic Savio

St. Dominic Savio was born in Italy in 1842. One day when he was just four, he

disappeared and his good mother went looking for him. She found the little fellow in a

corner praying with his hands joined and his head bowed. He already knew all his

prayers by heart! At five, he was an altar boy. When he was seven, he received his First

Holy Communion. On that solemn day, he chose a motto: "Death, but not sin!" and he

kept it always.

"A teenager such as Dominic, who bravely struggled to keep his innocence from

Baptism to the end of his life, is really a saint," said Pope St. Pius X.

Yes, Dominic was an ordinary boy with an extraordinary love for God.

At the age of twelve, Dominic entered the school run by St. John Bosco. Don Bosco examined him first and at

the end of the questions, Dominic asked,

"What do you think of me?"

"I think you're good material," answered the priest, with a big smile.

"Well, then," said Dominic, "You are a good tailor, so if the material is good, take me and make a new suit out

of me for Our Lord!"

Everyone in the school saw from the way he prayed that this boy was different. He greatly loved all the boys,

and even though he was younger, he used to worry about them. He was afraid that they would lose the grace of

God by sinning.

One day, a fellow brought a magazine full of bad pictures to school. In a minute, a group of boys had gathered

around him to see it.

"What's up?" wondered Dominic, and he, too, went to look. Just one peek was enough for him. He grabbed the

magazine and tore it to pieces! "Poor us!" he cried in the meantime, "Did God give us eyes to look at such

things as this? Aren't you ashamed?"

"Oh, we were just looking at these pictures for the fun of it," said one boy.

"Sure, for fun," answered Dominic, "and in the meantime you're preparing yourselves to go to hell!"

"Oh, what's so wrong about looking at these pictures anyway?" another fellow demanded.

Dominic had a ready answer. "If you don't see anything wrong," he said sadly, "this is even worse." It means

you're used to looking at shameful things!"

No one said anything after that. They all realized that Dominic was right. Another time he stopped a terrific

stone-throwing fight between two angry boys. Holding up a little crucifix between them, he said, "Before you

fight, look at this and say, 'Jesus Christ was innocent and He died forgiving His murderers. I am a sinner, and I

am going to hurt Him by not forgiving my enemies.' Then you can start - and throw your first stone at me!"

The two boys were so ashamed of themselves that they apologized, and promised to go to confession too.

One day Dominic began to feel sick and was sent home to get better. While at home he grew worse, instead,

and received the last Sacraments. He was only fifteen then, but he did not fear death. In fact, he was overjoyed

at the thought of going to Heaven. Just before he died, he tried to sit up.

"Goodbye," he murmured to his good father. Suddenly his face lit up with a smile of great joy and happiness. "I

am seeing such wonderful things!" he exclaimed. Then he spoke no more, for he had gone to Heaven.

Dominic is the patron saint of choir boys and of the falsely accused.

This latter title was given to him due to the following incident. One time, two boys filled the school stove with

snow and garbage during the cold winter months. When the teacher came back into the room, they falsely

accused Dominic of doing the "dirty" deed. Although disciplined in front of the entire class, Dominic refused to

tell on the two mischievous boys. When the truth was later revealed, Dominic was asked why he didn't confess

to his innocence. He remarked that he was imitating Our Lord, Who remained silent during His persecutions

and crucifixion.

1. Choose a motto like Saint Dominic Savio and use it as a guidance throughout your life.

2. On this very special day of your First Communion, you receive a very special gift of Jesus

as a food to strengthen your soul. Make a commitment to avoid one sin that always commit

either not obeying your parents, limit watching TV, or study first before play.

3. Eucharist also has a meaning of Thanksgiving. So, on your special day that you receive a

thanksgiving, share this gift with someone else who doesn’t know Jesus.

The next time you come to mass, pay attention to what the priest says when he holds up the host. Once again, it is the

bread in which you receive during mass. He will hold the host up for blessing and say “Take and eat, this is my body”.

The host will become the living body of Christ. Your first communion will be the first time that you will get to meet

Jesus personally. To remain a close friendship with Jesus, we should receive the host every time we come to mass.

Similarly, when we see the bread in the church, we know that Jesus stays in there although we cannot see him with our

naked eyes.

Our only responsibly is to accept what he gave us and live a moral life to deserve that.

We also honor his sacrifice since there is no one except Jesus dared to give his life for us.

Therefore, whenever we receive the Communion in church, we thank Jesus for our sins are

forgiven.



Jesus, we thank you

From committing sins and evils.


Besides cleaning our sins, receiving the Eucharist also:

1. Commits us to the poor, (catechism 1397)

2. Grow our Christian life, (catechism 1392): renew, preserve and increase the grace received at Baptism

3. Help us penance,(catechism 1436)

4. Transform human thru Christ, (catechism 1074)

5. Help us unite with Christ, (catechism 790): we receive his

body.

6. Unite us with other Christians, (catechism 1398): our community receives Communion together.

7. Help us participate in Jesus’ sacrifice, (catechism 1322): we remember thru scripture of what were going on when Jesus sacrificed.

glad and sincere hearts.

Rước Lễ:

- Chúng ta được kết hợp mật thiết với Chúa Giêsu và hợp nhất với Ngài.

- Ta được xóa bỏ các tội nhẹ và gia tăng ơn thánh hóa.

- Thêm sức cho ta chống trả chước cám dỗ và những tính nết xấu của ta.

- Bảo đảm cho ta được sống đời đời.

Giáo hội khuyên ta một năm Rước Lễ it là một lần, đón nhận Mình Máu Thánh Chúa.

Muốn Rước Lễ thì phải sạch tội, có ý ngay lành, và kiêng ăn trước một giờ.

Lạy Chúa Giêsu, con thờ lạy Chúa là Thiên Chúa của con. Con cám ơn Chúa đã

ngự vào lòng con.

Con muốn trở nên giống Chúa hơn. Xin giúp con trở nên ngoan ngoãn hơn. Amen


- Mỗi lần con Rước Lễ con cảm thấy hạnh phúc sung sướng, con có cảm giác Chúa đang đứng trước mặt con

và con khao khát được rước Chúa vào lòng.

- Điều làm con sung sướng nhất là được rước Chúa vào lòng mình, được kết hiệp với Chúa nên một. Sau khi

rước Chúa vào lòng con biết rằng Chúa ở lại trong con.


- Các em lên Rước Lễ phải giữ nghiêm trang, không được đùa giỡn và nói chuyện. Trước Khi đón nhận Chúa

Giêsu Thánh Thể, em phải cúi dầu chào Chúa.

- Em lên Rước Lễ, bàn tay của em phải sạch sẽ, bàn tay trái đặt lên tay phải.

- Em phải dọn mình trước khi lên Rước Lễ.

- Sau khi em Rước Lễ, em cám ơn Chúa đã ngự vào trong tâm hồn em.


- Hàng ngày các em ao ước được đến tham dự Thánh Lễ để được Rước Chúa vào trong tâm hồn, mà em không

thể đến tham dự Thánh Lễ được, em có thể Rước Lễ Thiêng Liêng bằng cách xin Chúa ngư vào trong tâm hồn

của em.

- Lạy Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể, con yêu mến Chúa. Xin Chúa ngự vào tâm hồn con và ở lại với con luôn mãi.

- Để được Chúa ngự vào trong tâm hồn của em, em phải luôn giữ tâm hồn trong sạch.
