stock, assuring delivery within 48 hours. We have

customers throughout Europe. Several operate

globally and we follow them worldwide.

The fact that we work in an industry where there is one standard does not mean that what we do is just routine. We have developed and produced storage systems for a quarter of a century – and we have made good use of the time. As we are not involved in trading but actually manu-facture the products ourselves, we can refine them down to the smallest detail. Each bend follows a carefully calculated radius and each stamp is perfectly placed. Most important of all – we never settle for anything but the best materials. 9001 quality-certified. Quality has never been a problem for us. Monitoring quality, routines and safety is always much easier when you are in control. Our CITY pallet racking is approved according to European standard SS-EN 15512:2009 ’Design principles’. We also satisfy the requirements in SS-EN 15635:2008 ’Assembly, oper-ation and maintenance,’ SS-EN 15620:2008 ’Tolerance’ and SS-EN 15629:2008 ’Specification’. The added bonus is that we are the only Swedish producer of pallet rack-ing approved by DNV. BLS Storage Systems can take the pressure.

starting point, we produce a

layout proposal and design

own assembly team. This makes

final inspection a pure formality.

As you know, all storage systems

are checked each year by an

authorised inspector. We have

good relations with inspection

companies and we are happy

to put you in contact. Following

the inspection, you can send the

report to us and we will ensure

that maintenance is carried out

correctly.

QUICK FACTS, FRAMES The pallet racking frames are available as standard in a large range of heights with three different depths and two upright widths: 90 and 120 mm. The 90 mm upright is also available in two versions that can take a load of 8 tonnes and 12 tonnes respectively (See technical information, page 50). The cata-logue only shows the 1100 mm depth although 500 mm and 800 mm are also included in our standard range.

BLS CITY – ACCESSORIES BLS CITY pallet racking is also available with a highly developed accessory sys-tem. With the addition of accessories, the pallet racking can be adapted to different of products even when the dimensions vary.

If you wish, the bins can be fitted with trans-parent dividers that still allow in a lot of light, a bin stop for ergonomic picking and a viewer opening to maintain a good overview. With a mezzanine as part of the storage equipment, you can make optimal use of the ceiling height. We dimension and manufacture complete mezzanine floors according to your wishes. The floor of the mezzanine is made of durable, non-slip plywood supported by profiled metal plate.

If required, a grid plate structure is available. The mezzanine floor can also be added to existing shelf and pallet racking. Steps, rails, gates etc. are included and all materials are supplied in easily assembled parts that are bolted together. All steel comes painted on delivery.

The electrically powered shelf units are controlled with the simple press of a button.

Mobile racking saves considerable amounts of space and increases the utilisation level of the premises to 85% as the number of truck aisles can be kept to a minimum. Mobile units are frequently used when stor-age space is costly – in freezer stores and cold stores for example.

Advantages of mobile racking:

• 40% increase in existing space without any extension

• Up to 85% space utilisation

• 60% less building space in the case of new construction

We offer electrically operated units in lengths of up to 50 m and for loads of 500 tonnes that can be operated by remote control from the truck or with the simple press of a button. The opening time is approximately 35 seconds. You can also choose manual units with crank operation in lengths of up to around 10 m and for loads up to around 10 tonnes (see the next page).

Electric cantilever rack.17 bases, each 6 m in length, provide 1,080 storage spaces.

The bases in the mobile systems are oper-ated individually. With the aid of capacitive sensors, they maintain a preset distance to ensure the bases and the goods do not col-lide. The correct number of motors on each base ensures stable, balanced movement, even with long sections. All electronics are from well-known suppliers. The choice of rail type depends on the load on the base and whether the system has been installed in existing premises or in newly constructed premises. The system has a high level of inbuilt safety. All the aisles are protected by light barriers. Photocells are located under the bases, at the front edge of the bases and, when necessary, at the rear edge of the bases. A signal is emit-ted when the base is in operation. All equipment is CE-approved and satisfies the requirements in the Machinery Directive.

Easily handled storage systems for the storage of tim-ber and full or half packages. The packages are han-dled on rollers that are integrated into special beams, allowing timber varying in length and shape to be stored on the same rack. The rollers facilitate handling

of the timber as it can be rolled easily in and out. The system can also be easily changed and expanded. To make optimal use of the ceiling height, a mezzanine can be added to create extra space.

Pallet live storage

Pallet Live Storage is a compact storage method based on the First-in/First-out principle. The pallets roll through the racking on an inclined roller track. There is almost unlimited potential for handling goods varying in weight and size. When removing the goods, the bottom pallet can be handled using a forklift truck if necessary. Solutions are also available for collecting/delivering pallets using a stacker.

Push Back Storage is another storage method based on drive-in stacking on rollers. The pallets are pressed into the rack on an inclined roller track. The principle then becomes First-in/Last-out. Even here, solutions are available for collecting/delivering pallets using a stacker.

HANDLING BOXES AND CRATES (CLS)For rational, ergonomic picking from boxes or crates, a system is available consisting of free-standing racks or built into the pallet racking. The width and depth are adapted to the size of the products up to a maximum of approximately 3000 mm and a maxi-mum depth of approximately 4500 mm. The load is maximised at 1250 kg per level. To optimise ergonomics, the picking level can be exposed to the picker. A roller track with a 20 mm divider and a load of 8 kg per roller optimises the functioning of the roller racking. The partition, which is 55 mm high or of a universal variety, allows sepa-ration into channels varying in width and design.

For certain types of goods and goods volumes, a crane store is the optimal solution. Apart from the storage system having the obvious advantage of maximising storage height, manual handling of goods is also reduced. Warehouse staff have a better working environment as a great deal of the stock handling takes place automatically. Automatic materi-al handling also allows better control and more rapid material flows. The highly flexible crane store can be built up in a range of different ways. The size of the warehouse is not important, as the crane store can be adapted easily to the design of the building as well as the re-quired capacity and functionality. The system is suit-ed to most types of pallets and load carriers, making it more compatible with other storage systems. A crane store can be used either as a supplement, e.g. for goods that can be picked together in advance for later delivery, or as a main store with the potential for in and out storage. This type of automatic stock system not only reduces stock handling costs, it also provides complete control of the arrival, stock bal-ance and storage time, improving delivery accuracy significantly.

9. MAINTENANCE

All storage equipment must be inspected on an ongoing basis, and at least every 12 months, to ensure that uprights, beams, attachments, braces etc. are not deformed or damaged in any way, thus affecting the durability of the pallet racking.

The orderer/user is responsible for carrying out and documenting the inspections. Signs and information about the maximum load per bay as well as the maximum load per beam must also be clearly visible on the rack. In conjunction with rearrangement, re-development or moving of the pallet racking, the supplier must be contacted.

BLS Storage Systems gives a 5-year structure and function guarantee on Pallet racking, Modular shelving and Drive-in racking.The Pallet racking satisfy applicable standards in accordance with SS-EN 15512.The products must be assembled in accordance with BLS Storage Systems instructions and pre-scribed inspections and maintenance must be carried out and the products used appropriately.The guarantee is valid as of the delivery date. If there is any damage, BLS Storage Systems must be informed as soon as possible and be given the opportunity to examine the damage. Damage that has arisen through external effects (e.g. fire, water, damp) and through installation errors or inadequacies is not covered by the guarantee.Any guarantee remedial action must be carried out by service personnel from BLS Storage Systems unless otherwise agreed.
