Ship's Log

We first thought that the bipeds north of the ship produced no artefacts. We later discovered however, a series of repetitive scratches on a collection of bones scattered around their habitat, that appeared to suggest the beginnings of a form of primitive symbolism. Sadly though, we have now spent many years since the mission attempting to ascertain any meaning within the incisions, but as of yet have been unable to discern any semiotic logic, other than a seemingly orgiastic desire to mark the world in some crude manner.
