In between January - April, 2018, SEIAA1 of Telangana received 98 applicationsseeking Environmental Clearance under the category of ‘New ConstructionProjects and Industrial Estates’

These are all big-ticket projects because as per a 2006 notification of MoEF2, construction projects having built up area between 20,000-1,50,000 square meters have to apply for Environmental Clearance to the SEIAA

Building construction field in Greater Hyderabad is witnessing a hectic activity

The As against 8,704 permissions in 2016-17, GHMC has given permission up to 13,595 (almost 50%) , as many as 4,891 more yielding a revenue of INR 4,092.46 Crore, as against INR 526.64 Crore in 2016-17

The construction activity includes INR 50,000 Crore SRDP, one lakh two bedroom houses, white tapping by the State Road Development Organisation of several high-ways, Musi beautification, works to ensure regular water supply to the City outskirts, Metro Rail, and other basic infrastructure works, which ensure that Hyderabad becomes a global city

Government has announced environment-friendly- Hyderabad Pharma Cityproject - attract investments of INR 64,000 Crore and generate exports worth INR 58,000 Crore

It is expected that the new site will host between 900 to 1,000 pharma compa-nies

Telangana government has launched India’s largest medical devices park on the outskirts of Hyderabad

Located at Sultanpur village in Medak district, the newly established medical device park is spread across an area of 250 acres and is expected to house more than 1,000 medical devices manufacturing firms

In a move aimed at giving a major thrust to the industrial sector, government has decided to establish MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) industrial parks in all the districts of the State

Nearly 11 lakh MSME units are functioning in Telangana creating about one lakh jobs every year and producing more than 8,000 products for domestic and international markets

Parks in 10 places first - In the first phase, the government has decided to establish at least one MSME park in 10 locations, covering the 10 erstwhile districts

The Central government is funding INR 10 Crore for setting up MSME industrial parks where INR 8 Crore is subsidy

The State government also will be responsible for land acquisition and infrastructure development

According to ASSOCHAM, Telangana has achieved phenomenal growth in the industrial sector with 79% growth rate in the investments sector against the national average growth rate of 27% in between 2012-17

Electronics: T-Works, Government of Telangana’s initiative, acts as a prototyping centre for electronics, semiconductors and hardware start-ups

At 250,000 sq.ft., T-Works will be one of the world’s largest hardware prototyping facilities Phase-1 consists of ~70,000 sq. ft. area and equipment worth INR 10 Crore.

Telangana being one of the largest producer of cotton, government is all set to establish the Textile Park will come up in 1200 acres in its first phase and in total, 2000 acres at Sha-yampet in Chintapalli village

6. Growth in shopping mall

Recent Development

Retail supply space in the next three years (2018 – 2020) is expected to be at19.4 million square feet (msf). In the same period, demand will be approximately 15msf.

The total newly completed malls in 2017 was recorded at 5.6 msf, which is expected to see an increment of close to 40 % y-o-y and rise to 7.8 msf by the end of 2018

The largest contribution to this will be coming from the two southern cities of Hyderabad (2.2 msf) and Chennai (1.5 msf), which will see significant influx of mall supply

Hyderabad, followed by Chennai, is leading the national real estate sector in mall space as the Pearl City accounted for 39% of the total shopping mall space added in 2017

By 2020, 34 new shopping malls, covering 13.6 million sq. ft. area, are expected to come up in top eight cities Out of all, Hyderabad will see maximum 11 malls, followed by Delhi-NCR 8 malls, Bengaluru 6 malls, Chennai 4 malls, Kolkata and Mumbai 2 malls each and Pune one mall

L&T has invested about INR 13,000 Crore of the INR 14,132 Crore elevated metro rail project under the PPP model & Telangana Government has invested more than INR 2300 Crore in phase I

In phase II, L&T is planning to invest INR 2500 Crore

For the ease of the consumers, it is planning to open two Metro shopping malls connectivity at Erramanzil (0.35 million sq.ft) and at Musarambagh (0.24 million sq.ft)

These will be in addition to the malls already functional at Pun-jagutta of 0.48 million sq.ft & at Hi-Tec City station of 0.21 mil-lion sq.ft.

1. Effective Industrial Clearances Mechanism through TS- IPASS

A single Common Application Form (CAF) for all departmental approvals A time limit has been set varying from 1 day to 30 days to clear the approvals Applications are pre-scrutinized at state and district level and thus avoiding delays in processing the same It has been made mandatory for the competent authorities to seek shortfall/addi tional information, within three days of receipt of application In case approvals are not accorded by departments, the projects shall be deemed approved

3. Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) was identified to develop the potential industrial growth centres, along with developing the required infrastructure in these centres. Following are some of the initiatives undertaken by TSIIC: Establishment of Hyderabad Pharma-City at an area of 14,000 acres National Investment and Manufacturing Zones at Zaheerabad in Medak dis trict, with an estimated investment of INR 17,300 Crore and to generate em ployment to 2.61 lakh people Aerospace and Precision Engineering SEZ at Adibatla, will hosts 10 operational aerospace components manufacturing units Genome valley is largest innovation and life sciences cluster in Asia and is only clean manufacturing eco system. Will have more than 200 companies in the valley T-Hub has been developed aiming at making Hyderabad as a start-up city and Telangana as a start-up State Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), has been cleared by the Government of India. With this IT products worth INR 2, 35,000 Crore are expected to be exported Plastic and polymer zone in 100 acres of land in Tumaloor village of Rangareddy district.
