It gives me immense pleasure to bring out KLS GIT’s flagshipbi-monthly newsletter “eSpectra” for the period March-April 2021. This isour second issue for current year. Like all over the world and India inparticular, the COVID pandemic is wrecking havoc. We at KLS GIT havetaken all possible safety measures, SOP implementation to guard ouremployees and students against this pandemic. First dose of COVIDvaccination was successfully given to eligible teaching and non-teachingstaff of our institute (above 45 years age group). Second dose is scheduledas per government guidelines in the coming days.

In spite of difficult times that all are going through, GIT is marchingahead in its pursuit of educational excellence. Apart from regular offlineclasses during January through mid-April and later online classes, examswere successfully conducted on offline mode with all precautions andcare. Many technical papers were published. Few faculty received theirPhDs during this period.

Many webinars by eminent personalities which included our highlysuccessful alumni and entrepreneurs, industry experts were conducted.The present issue showcases Computer Science and Engg. Departmentunder “Department Exclusive” Section. Our section of “DistinguishedAlumni” showcases two of our successful alumni. Lot many articles aboutsuch activities and achievements were published in all leadingnewspapers.

The following pages will give insight into various activities of ourinstitute during March-April 2021.

• Mr Mohammed Aqeel Talikoti, 7th semester ASMEstudent member, at the Department of MechanicalEngineering, has been selected as a recipient ofthe ASME’s prestigious 2021 Student AdvisoryCommittee Travel Award (SACTA), for hiscontribution to the International Gas TurbineInstitute (IGTI).

• 1st semester students participated National levelDesign Competition and secured 3rd place in Birdhouse Design Competition organised by Star IndiaSparrow: The Agenda of resurgence

• Kiran M Aralikatti hassecured 327 in AllIndia GATE 2021. ofAerospaceEngineering.

• Prof Sharada M Kori awarded PhD forthe work on thesis entitled “Securityscheme to resolve the issues inwirereless sensor networks " Centre:VTURRC Belagavi Guide: DrKrishmurthy G and Dr Nandini Sidnal.

• ECE 6th Semester Student MrPrajwal Patil secured 4th place inNational Level “March forSecure Code” Grand challengeheld by Cysek Cyber SecurityKarnataka , a K-Yech CoE forCyber Security. 13000 studentsfrom 81 colleges across 18districts of Karnataka took part inthe challenge. Prajwal washelped by Dr Veena Desai forthat event.

• Mr Rohan Patil Received certification ofappreciation for worked as organisingcommittee member in state level “NSSYouth festival on view of celebration of75th Independent India-2021” at VTUJnana Sangam, Belagavi.

• Dr Bhagyashri R Pandurangi and DrAnupama S. Awati received PhD DegreeCertificate in Ceremony Organised atVTU, Belagavi.

• Dr Bhagyashri R Pandurangi has beenshortlisted as a translator for the NPTEL coursedevelopment related work.

• Mr Rakesh Tergundi, Founder and CEO ofMobijini, an alumni of E&C department hasinstituted a yearly scholarship of INR 10ooo fora student of E&C department. The scholarshipwas intended to recognize and encouragestudents who have put in superlative effortsand learnt programming in Mobile and Webtechnologies, and are able to showcase theirwork.

• Mr Shubham Marihalkarof ECE department wasthe unanimous choiceas recipient of thescholarship. It wasdecided in meeting on19th March at KLS GIT.The process wascarried out andfacilitated by Prof P UKalkundri of ECEDepartment.

Ms. Vanishri Hundekar was awarded withthe PhD degree at 20th Annual Convocationheld at Visvesvaraya TechnologicalUniversity, Belagavi on 3rd April 2021 .

Ms Bhagyashri Waikar, 2018 Alumni of ECEDepartment has cleared IES examinationand secured 39th Rank in India. She hashigh score in 300-310 band in main examand in interview her score is 130 which ishigh score in interview for IES. Bhagyashrihas overall score of 700 in IES exam. Wewish her all the success in all futureendeavor.

• Dr Veena Desai is guiding final year ECEstudents for project. The students are RishabHabbu, Sampathkumar Itagi, Rakesh Sonnagi,and Sagar Terdal. Their project CROPSURVEILLANCE AND HEALTH ASSESSMENTUSING MULTISPECTRAL IMAGERY BYDRONES is chosen for KSCST grant of Rs8000.

• Dr Anupama S.Awati is guiding final year ECEstudents Nikita Vernekar, Reshma Terani,Nagesh Kulkarni, Sushant V. Chavan for theproject SMART AGRICULRURE. Their projectis selected for KSCST grant of Rs 7000.

• Mr Bharat Rathod, a Final year ECE studentreceived TI Embedded System Design (usingMSP 430 MCU) MOOC Certificate throughTexas Instrument University Program. Thecertificate is signed by AICTE Chairman.

Academic Excellence

GIT is always in the forefront of KSCST PROJECT SPONSORSHIPS (SPP) on regular basis,

year-after-year awareded for innovative final year projects across all engineering colleges of

Kanataka. In fact, KLSGIT bagged ”Genearal Championshiop” in 2018 from KSCST.

2020-21 is no exception for this trend. This academic year, we received 13 Project

Sponsorships with sponsorship amounts ranging from Rs.2500/- to Rs.8000/-. It’s matter of

pride for all the final year project team members, project guides and all of us at GIT. The

table shown here gives details of all the sponsored projects, student names, guide name and

sanctioned amount.

• Mr Prashant Y Patil, a second year ECE students of KLSGIT has won national level Karate and Kung FuChampionship at Telengana on 14th February 2021. Theevent was organised by New Dragon Fighters MartialArts Association, Telengana.

• Dr V R Chate was invited as resourceperson in One Week Online FacultyDevelopment Programme On “CURENTTRENDS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING"organised by Dept of Civil EngineeringBMS Institute of Technology andManagement in association with ecoparadigm.

• In E&E department High Voltage Lab theHigh voltage testing facility has beenenhanced to 200 kV AC, 280 kV DC and280 kV impulse by adding the secondstage components recently. This facilitycan be used for testing insulators in powersystem apparatus. This is the uniquelaboratory facility available amongst theengineering institutions in the northKarnataka region. This has beenCoordinated by Dr D B Kulkarni, Prof P VDatar, Prof S G Kulkarni and Mr B SKalburgi.

• Prof Rahul Suryavamshi, Sourabh Kulkarni,Somangouda Patil and Shreejit SavdatteSecured 5th place at National levelCompetition on "Social InnovationChallenge' Research proposals organisedby IISc , Bengaluru in March, 2021.

• Prof Sudhakar C J. Prof Rudresh BMagdum, Prof Avinash V Deshpande, ProfSatish N Dodmani published a paper titled“Optimal Placement of MultipleSTATCOM and its impact on Voltagestability' in 2021 IEEE InternationalConference on Advanced Computing andCommunication systems.

• Dr Krishna Shekhar Lal Das successfullycompleted and received a passing grade in“GSE2x: Leaders of Learning”, a 10-weekcourse of study offered by HarvardX, anonline learning initiative of Harvard Universityon 26th March 2021.

• Dr Sandeep Nair from the Department ofMBA, conducted a session on ‘HigherEducation::The NEP Perspective’ on 31stMarch 2021. for the Heads of Institutions andHeads of Departments of various EngineeringColleges under VTU,

• Dr Veena Desai, Prof Pratijnya Ajawan and Mr Aryan Karchi had submitted their project proposal forStart Up to SMART SAMPARK under the Agripreneurship orientation program, ANVESHAN-BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS by KRISHIK – AGRI BUSINESS INCUBATOR of University ofAgricultural Sciences (UAS) Dharwad. Their proposal is selected for a Grant of Rs 5 Lakhs.

• Prof P U Kalkundri, through self effort, and incollaboration with ECE dept. placement cell hasmanaged to place two ECE students Mr SumithShetkar and Mr Akshay Vastrad in GlobalElectronics Pune. The candidates have beenselected as Field Application Engineer forBangalore Location, with pay package ofaround 3.3 LPA.

• 62 students of MTech, (AEL and DCN) 2020-21batch and 2nd year UG students havecompleted the MATLAB and Simulink OnRampCertification Course through MATLAB CampusLicence facility provided at GIT. They havereceived Certificates from the Director ofTraining Services of MATLAB. The process isbeing coordinated by Dr Saurav Mitra for ECEdepartment students.

• Prof N R Tadkodkar Appointed as Juror forAESA awards 2021 organised by TheArchitects, Engineers and SurveyorsAssociation, Pune.

• Prof N R Tadkodkar Appointed as Observerfor NATA Entrance Exam 2021 by TheCouncil of Architecture India.

• Prof Sujay Deshpande, Assistant Professor,Department of Civil Engineering, KLS GogteInstitute of Technology, Belagavi, has beenmeritoriously selected for Faculty Awards2020-21 by Novel Research Academy [NRA],India which is a registered enterprise underMSME, Government of India [ISO:9001-2015]and Global Accreditation Assessment ForumSeries [GAAFS], Washington DC, USA. ProfSujay Deshpande was selected among thetop 10 faculty who bagged the “BESTYOUNG FACULTY AWARD 2020–21 in CivilEngineering specialization” among the 300+candidates across India .

• Dr Saurav Mitra, Professor, Department ofE&C successfully completed the onlineCertification Course on Introduction toInternet of Things (on 6th April) from E&ICTAcademy Course series of IIT Kanpur. Hescored 90% in the final exam.

Placement Updates of Department of MBA as on April 2021:

1. Berger Paints India Ltd, a leading paint company conducted a virtual campus drive for MBA

students all over India and one student from the Department of MBA got finally selected with

a package of 5.75 LPA

2. A campus recruitment drive by ICICI Bank was conducted for MBA students and 20 students

got finally placed with a package of 4.25 LPA.

3. Anzy Careers Pvt Ltd conducted a campus drive for MBA students and five students received

final placement offers with a package of 3.5 LPA

4. Careernet Consulting, a leading HR consultancy firm from Bengaluru, conducted a placement

drive and the company offered final placements to three of our MBA students

5. Five students from the Department of MBA got finally selected by Shriram General Insurance

Company Ltd, Chennai with a package of 4.5 LPA

6. Exide Industries Ltd recruited one student from the Department of MBA with a package of 5.75

LPA

7. The students of Department of MBA participated in a pooled campus drive conducted by

Reliance Retail Ltd at Hubballi and 14 students from the Department of MBA got final

placements with a pay package of 3.25 LPA

8. The students of Department of MBA participated in a virtual placement drive organized by

Flipkart and four students got final placement with a package of 3.0 LPA

Inauguration of Aerodynamics Lab and Propulsion Lab at Aeronautical Engineering, KLS GIT, Belagavi.

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi,

witnessed the inauguration of state-of-the-art Aerodynamics Lab and Aircraft Propulsion Lab on

Friday 26 March 2021.The labs were inaugurated by Shri Anant Mandgi, President, Karnataka Law

Society (KLS) Belagavi. Shri Pradeep Sawkar, Chairman Karnatak Law Society, Shri M. R. Kulkarni,

Chairman, GC, KLS GIT and other members of Karnatak Law Society were also present during the

occasion.

This state of the art lab provides hands on training to the students in the domain of aerodynamic

flow analysis on scaled models and aircraft engine performance characteristics. The Department

of Aeronautical Engineering at GIT has also established a unique Advanced Flight Simulation Lab

to train the students on civilian as well as fighter jet flight control.

on 27 March 2021. Chief Guest of the function, Shri Pradeep S. Sawkar, Chairman, Karnatak Law

and other associated activities. This session was conducted by AME team on 16 March

2021 with the 6th semester students.

Superannuation to Shri Mukund Desai, non-teaching faculty from the Dept. of

Mechanical Engineering was held on 31 March 2021. His contributions in lab

developments, lab conduct, department activities were highlighted.

Go Green Initiative by Association of Electronic Engineers (AEE), ECE, KLS GIT. In Charge Faculties -Prof Vaidehi Deshpande and Prof Abhishek Deshmukh. Event took from 19th to 26th March 2021. As a part ofAICTE Activity points program, AEE organised collection of reusable plastics which will be used by ECOKAARI, an NGO based in Pune to produce artifacts and usable products. 70 students participated andcollected plastics for 1 week, which were collected and packed at once place and send to ECO KAARIPune. Event was graced by HOD Dr Saraf and Dean Student Affairs Prof S P Deshpande.

Painting the 4 Wheeler Parking Area - This event was carried out by 6th semester ECE students of KLSGIT. In Charge Faculty - Prof Abhishek Deshmukh. The students did a social activity of painting the 4wheeler parking area so as to provide a proper and optimized parking for 4 wheelers at the campus. 72students participated.

A meeting of the Anti-Ragging Squad team was held on 01 April 2021 to discuss the observationsby the various teams during their impromptu visits to the hostels under KLS Society in the month ofFeb-March 2021. The meeting ended with a brief action plan and measures to be taken to resolveall issues and provide even more better hostel facilities and amenities. Principal Dr .J. K. COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at GIT Campus on 15 April 2021.

Covid-19 Vaccination drive was held successfully at KLS GIT, Belagavi on 15 April 2021.

The event was jointly organised by Covid Cell GIT and NSS in association with Department

of Health and Family Welfare, Belagavi. Around Eighty (80) staff members of more than

45 years age group were vaccinated. The samples for RTPCR tests were also collected

from the staff members who have been vaccinated. Prof Sagar Santaji, Faculty member of

E&C Department and member of Covid-19 Cell of KLS GIT actively involved in coordinating

this camp. Principal Dr. Jayant K. Kittur and Prof. D.A. Kulkarni, Dean Administration thanked

the officials and staff of Department of Health and Family Welfare, Belagavi.

National Conference Organized by the Department of MBA on 20th & 21st April 2021

Department of MBA organized a National Conference on 20th and 21st April 2021 on the theme, ”Achieving

$10Trillion Economy of India by 2030: Opportunities and Challenges”. The inaugural function was held on 20th

April 2021. Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar, VTU, Belagavi was the Chief Guest. Dr. Bhimraya Metri and Dr. Anand K.

Joshi delivered the keynote address. Shri Vinayak Lokur, Member GC, KLS GIT and CEO of Expert Valve and

Equipment Pvt. Ltd, Belagavi was the president for the function. More than 25 research scholars from all over India

presented their research papers on the conference theme. Dr. Jayant K. Kittur, Principal, KLS GIT welcomed the

dignitaries. Dr. Krishna Shekhar Lal Das, Dean, Department of MBA gave a brief introduction about the national

conference. Dr. Suryakumar N. Khanai, conference convener introduced the dignitaries and Dr. Vanishree
