A new book of Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal, now the Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of Primeasia University, has been published by Agami Prokashani about the participation of peasants, Tea Communities and Indigenous Peoples in the Liberation war. Leaders and leading personalities have always been predominant in the study of history of the liberation war in Bangladesh. History is practiced with special milestones. And in the midst of all this, the struggles of the common people are lost, the details of public consciousness remain unwritten. In this context, it is important to construct the history of the common people. Because, it is the participating of the grassroots in the liberation war that ensured the victory. The people are the makers of history, and for 1971 their debt can never be repaid.

And the history of the common people has been highlighted in the book '1971: Your Debt Will Never Be Repaid-The Role of Peasants, Tea Communities and Indigenous Peoples in the Liberation War' by shedding lights on the role of the freedom fighters among them. This book is a unique addition to the history of the liberation war. The Co-Author of the book is Zannat-E Ferdousi.

Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of teaching, research and administration, both in Bangladesh and abroad. He has 29 books and more than a hundred articles and book chapters published in the National and International research journals and books.

As a technical expert on policy and ethnicity issues, Dr. Mesbah Kamal has vast experience and has greatly contributed to the socio-economic development of the disadvantaged sections of the society and the promotion of their fundamental rights through research and high level policy advocacy.

On July 29, 2021 (10.10 pm to 11.10 pm), a TV talk show "Nitol TATA My Tv Shonglap" was telecast live to raise public mindfulness about Dengue viral fever and its management amidst of covid-19 crisis. The mediator informed that 153 patients admitted to the hospitals were detected positive for dengue infection on July 29, 2021, and alarmingly 150 patients among them were from Dhaka city. The subject of that virtual program was "Atangka Baracche Dengue".

Prof. Dr. SuvamoyDatta, Dean, School of Science & Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, Primeasia University, Prof. Dr. M. A. Aziz, Secretary-General, Shadhinota Cikitsaka Parisad and Brigadier General, Md. Jobayadur Rahman, Chief Health Officer, DNCC were the discussants of the program.

Prof. Datta described dengue fever and its complications and mentioned that dengue infection and its propagation typically occur in the rainy season due to the waterlogging mediated reproduction of a particular mosquito, Aedesegypti. This vector-mediated viral infection is a seasonal case. But this time, the co-occurrence of covid-19 and dengue infection could worsen the situation since the co-infected patients might need ICU, CCU, HDU, and other critical medical supports extensively.

He then focused on the distribution of dengue-infected patients in South Dhaka City Corporation which was 60-70%, mostly in Motijheel, Kamalapur, Arambag, Bashabo, and so forth. Prof. Datta also suggested certain precautionary measures to prevent dengue propagation. He clarified that dengue is a vector-mediated infection and since the vector, as well as its reproduction field, are discernible, appropriate steps in time could help us to confront this problem successfully. In this connection, clearing up all types of water logging would suffice the control of Aedes mosquito’s multiplication in our premises. Hence, we must increase public awareness by motivation, specific implementation programs, and enforcement if necessary. Moreover, he emphasized the genome sequencing of the infected mosquitoes for long-term planned control measures. Other speakers also expressed their thoughts on how we can deal with the situation. They also emphasized clearing the water logging in and around our houses, gardens, and cavities.

The revised advising policy which will be effective from the Fall Semester, 2021, was conveyed to the batch advisors. The structure of the tuition fee has also been modified. According to the new regulation, any student who fails to pay the tuition fees by due time will be subject to a penalty.

Of note, a decision was taken regarding the future webinar programs of the Department of Microbiology. It was unanimously decided that at least one cultural show, one workshop/ training, and two scientific seminars are staged each semester.

The marks were uploaded by respective teachers and deposited the same to the office of the Controller of Examinations for publication of results. Though the practical classes were taken online, practical examinations were not held by the order of the authority.

Therefore during July 2021, the teachers of the Basic Sciences department remained busy conducting Mid-term Examinations as well as offering their courses during and outside Mid-term Examinations to the students of Textile Engineering, CSE, EEE, Architecture, BBA and MBA departments. Some of the teachers also did some researches in the laboratories of Physics and Chemistry. Moreover, Mr. Shahriar Kabir, an Assistant Professor of the department is doing his Ph.D. Thesis at the Chemistry department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka. In July, he was very busy there with his Ph.D. works.

It is not an exaggeration to mention here that Prof. Md. Sirajul Karim has made a plan for making pulp for writing and printing paper for rice straw by the open pulping process. An article in Bengali on Covid-19 ÔAPj Rxeb K‡e mPj n‡eÕ and a poem in Bengali Ô†m GK gayi AwfÁZvÕ by name have been published in the Daily Naya Diganta. These were written by Prof. Karim. Both the article and the poem were largely appreciated by the readers.

Pointing at the rising number of fees defaulters in Primeasia University, Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), said that Primeasia gives the highest amount of Fee Waivers yet some of the students are taking advantage of the leniency of Primeasia authorities as an opportunity and becoming defaulters, and that will not be tolerated.
