He said that such deplorable misuse ofsocial media by Shri Sunil Vaid and Shri Sunil Duff must be condemned and stopped forthwith. lt is very unfortunate that they were spreading rumours and defaming the GMS in every possible manner. He was joined by many other members, who wanted to know the reasons for GMS not taking any action against these members for maligning the good work being done by GMS under the present leadership. BD. Bali intervened and said that over the years there were incidents ofsuch nature and he always advised his colleagues to exercise utmost restraint in dealing with such maffers and not to waste their time and energy in responding to them, and as a result our achievements over the years are there for everyone to see.

Shri Yogesh Mehta further said that though MES was a separate body, its assets were totally built by funds raised from the mohyals and has mohyals as its members. He said that MES has now got involved into some financial deal without consent ofits members and allegedly a video tape is available, showing money being accepted by Shri Kailash Chhibber, who is at present heading the MES as Chairman Adhoc Committee. The board of Mohyal Public School has been replaced by a name plate indicating it as a resident of a non mohyal, who appears to be in control ofthe entire premises except one small room. All these facts were also reported by Shri Rit Mohan in the last Managing Committee Meeting. There were many speakers on this issue, who had affended the MES meeting on 26 July2014. The members felt that though we are not able to directly interfere in the transaction pertaining to MES, but since Shri Kailash Chhibber is a Prathishtith member of the GMS, action should be taken against him for his malafide action, showing him accepting huge amount of cash on the video.

On both the issues, there were vide spread discussions and everyone felt that enough is enough and GMS should take strict action against these individuals. All present exhorted the leadership and recommended that the GMS membership of these members be terminated and they be debarred from participating in any activity ofthe GMS and its affiliated Sabha's. The House unanimously expressed their solidarity with the Mohyal leadership and GMS Managing Commiffee by raising of hands and applauding their achievements.

In light ofthe strong reaction from the members, Rzd. BD. Bali constituted a Commiffee consisting offollowing members to go into the maffer in detail and recommend action to be taken against the above three members who are tarnishing the image ofGMS and creating dissensions in the community and to submit report before the next Managing Commiffee Meeting.

Committee: Maj. Gen. K.K. Bakshi Convener, Shri P.K. Duffa, Shri BM. Duffa, Shri Ramesh Duffa, Shri Vipin Mohan and Shri Yogesh Mehta.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair and recitation ofShanti Path followed by lunch.

After the prayer, the secretary welcomed members and guests. The Minutes ofAug 2014 meet- ings which had been published in Mohyal Mitter were passed by the house.

The Secretary brought out that this monthly meeting was a very special meeting in that the meet- ing was being done on the "PunyaTithi" of Sh. Budh Dey ji Daifa after discontinuation of BD. Datta memorial lecture. This is also a day of remembrance of our elder members who are not with us now but for whom we would not be continuing our Sabah this far. This is the day to remember of our Pioneers the late Wg. Cdr. DewanJi, Sh. Budhdev Smt. Savitri Datta Bhai K.N. Chhiber, Sh. Brij Mohan Mehta and now Maj. Ved Prakash Datta very fondly remembered Dr. Sahib who left for his heavenly abode on 3 Sept. 2014. The cremation was done on 4th Sept. and Choutha on 6th Sep. which was participated by a large gathering of members of Mohyal Commu- nity along with his family and lots of well-wishers.

The Secretary recalled how only last month the Sabha had re- ceived his loving donation of Rs. 10,000/- and suddenly he is no more with us. We were indeed sad but proud to remember this great committed Mohyal; at heart a simple loving family man who continued to work almost to last day and had been inspiration to all of us including his family and those who came in contact with him. The Sabha is also grateful to his close knit family: his sons, daughters, daughters and sons- in-law and grand children who at- tended this meeting. The Secre- tary further recalled inspi rational incidents of his life.

The President then recalled the invaluable services of Dr. Sahib to the Sabha, community and public at large. In an emotional speech he profusely praised Dr. Sahib and stated that the Sabha owes its existence to stalwarts such as Daifa Ji. Wth his demise we have been deprived of his guidance & very valuable advice. Recalling his visit along with his wife to Dr. Sahibs house last month he was amazed to see by the extraordinary warmth and en- thusiasm of Dr. Sahib inspite of his ill health. Dr. Sahib had wished all the best to them and the Sabha.

In pursuance of the well estab- lished traditions set by SZ, Trib- ute & Condolence message pre- pared in honour of late Dr. Sahib was read out by the President copies of which were presented to Col. Pratap Daifa. The Presi-

MOHYALS OF YESTERYEARS During the iast few months we have been running the series - Mohyal Habitat. The idea was to present a picture to the younger readers about the iife of their ancestors in their traditionai homeiand, which they had to ieave on account of the Partition of the country in 1947. Of course it stirred the nostaigic memories of eiders who had iived in these piaces. Many persons who taiked to me from severai towns (as far apart as Gujrat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Deihi and Panchkuia etc.) were very senti- mentai and keen to share many of their sweet yaaden (remem- brances). None of them was be- moaning materiai iosses: they were missing their janambumi, where they were born and brought up. it was a touching experience for me.

As i go through the detaiis, these were generaiiy very backward piaces, without faciiities of trans- port and other amenities - iike the rest of the region. Yet Mohyais were a content and happy iot. Respected in their vii- iage community, there was no feeiing of deprivation. On the other hand a Mohyai had a

strong measure of seif-esteem - which was not necessariiy a quo- tient of personai weaith. There

was a vague feeiing of pride in the community's giorious past. intrepidity, pride, respect of ei- ders and cheerfuiness were some of his genetic traits. He dressed himseif in the mode of the eiite of the area - white tur-

ban, kurta, saiwar!tehmat - au

starched. Mohyais were gener- aiiy Shaivites - devotees of Lord Shiva. Not very orthodox in the matter of rituais and yet with a

reiigious bend of mind and foi- iowing the rituai traditions of their biradari - some of which were our caste-specific. A goat was kiiied on the occasion of my mundan and the first tuft of hair feu on the goat's ears. On Ashtami after the navratras a

smaii cut was made with a razor on my shouider and the biood from it put on the eyes of Devi (made with cowdung and kauris - sea sheiis). This was a way of introducing the future warrior to biood. The bridegroom wore a

saffron!red tunic, over his ciothes; this not-so-fancy gar- ment remained in the famiiy for future use. He heid a steei stick or a dagger- reminiscent of the originai tradition of keeping a

sword. Many other interesting rituais. i regret, these are not brought out in the iimited series which is focused on the generai iife styie during that era.

u have to inform that due to some pressing pre-occupation in the cause of Mohyai History, i shaii not be abie to continue this se- ries in Mohyai Mitter. i request eiders, iike Ch. GL Datta 'Josh' of Kanjrur, and others, to write their reminiscences about their respective viiiages i n Pakistan.

There couid be some omissions in an exercise iike this. Foiiow- ing corrections need to be made.

BheraChhiberan Di Rajdhani (Mohyal Mitter, 4/14): Sh. Satish Chhibber from Gurgaon has informed that his grandfather Bakshi Harbans Lai Chhibber, Under Secretary was titied Rai Bahadur and not Rai Saheb.

Tahi Dattan (MM, 9/14): Sh. Mumtaz Bahadur Datt of Panchkuia is a Wing Com- mander and not Sqn. Leader. The name of the expert horse rider of Tehi was Mehta Dewan Chand and not Duni Chand. The punctuation of the ghazal at the end of this piece, and meaning of certain difficuit words given thereunder, got messed up dur- ing e.maii transmission.

Sabha but being the eldest member was the torch bearer showing us the light & path to follow. We were performing un- der his guidance & able stew- ardship, with him seffing off for his heavenly abode, thus, the light has got extinguished we find ourselves in total darkness. Itwill notbewrongor out of con- text, if one were state that the Sabha owes its existence to stalwarts such as Daifa Ji. Be- ing a father figure to the Sabha, he was truly an epitome of

maxim A friend, philosopher & guide. With his demise we have been deprived ofhis guid- ance & very valuable advice. He was a soldier to the core, a

simple down to earth personbut with large & kind heart, who was always willing to extend a

helping hand with a smile. Af- ter his illustrious service in the army & on having hung his boots, he embarked on serving the society by commencing ho- meopath practice. He not only excelled in his new profession but also, did charity work for the under privileged. Despite being a simple person he possessed the virtue of calling A spade a spade & he could atthe same time come up with jokes and anecdotes and poetry&thus, a rightful claimant to the adage 'Versatility thy name. SZMS has been the beneficiary of his hospitality on many an occa- sions, the lasttime being in his newly renovated I rebuilt house in 201 2 with his son, daughters, daughter I sons -in-law & grand children in tow. His generosity & concern for the Mohyals can be gauged from the fact that just about a month back he sent a cheque of Rs.1O,000/- to SZMS. Being a staunch & true Mohyal he possessed all traits to be referred as Pride of the biradri. In addition to serving the biradri, he also contributed meaningfully to Navjiwan Viharresidents society by look- ing after the security of the colony for a long duration.

By his unflinching deeds it am- ply proved to be a Karam Yogi; as he continued to work almost till the last day.

We would like to reassure members ofthe bereaved fam- ily that SZMS is not only with them in their hour of grief but also, ofour unstinted support. Wejoin them in their prayers for bestowing peace to the de- parted soul.

South Zone Sabha in conclu- sion would most respectfully submitthatwith all humility, we bow our heads in reverence to Late Maj Ved Prakash Datta and would describe him in one word 'Genuine Gem'.

Oneofourvitalorgans in pancreas: In vertebrates the pancreas gland is located behind the stomach close to liver and duode- num. Part of pancreas produces enzymes, which flow through the pancreatic duct into the duodenum to help digest foods. The pancreas also has group of cells called islets which produces two hormones - glucagon and insulin. These hormones which play an important role in regulating blood sugar levels, pass directly in to the blood stream. Insufficient or very less production of insulin by pancreas, as soon as the level of glucose in the blood increases it starts leaking in to the urine and passes out of the body. Thus the body loses the main source of fuel, this is called diabetes. Insulin allows glucose to move from blood into liver, muscles and fat cells where it is used for fuel.

Diabetes leads to several serious complications: lt affacks and destroys our vital organs and make them nonfunctional, ie Dia- betic coma, strokes, kidney/failure, Nerve damage, Angina, Heart attacks, Cataract, Gangrene, Ketoacidosis (Blood acidity), Dehydration, Constipation, Frequent urination, loss ofsleep, physical tiredness (weakness in body), Hypertension, impotency, Abortion, Septic, skin infections.

Forms of Diabetes i . Type I Diabetes: Often called juvenile or insulin dependent diabetes for whole life. lt can occur at any age but is usually starts in people youngerthan 30. The cells in pancreas that make insulin are destroyed causing lack ofinsulin, resulting in the body attacking and destroying its own cells in the pancreas believed to be an auto immune disease. The body's immune system affacks the cells in the pancreas that produces insulin.

2. Type 2 Diabetes: Often called adult (Normally after 45 years of age) or, non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. This has strong genetic links and tends to run in the families. As the pancreas secretes insulin, Type 2 Diabetes develop when the body is partially or completely unable to use the insulin. lt is also called insulin resistance. Type 2 Diabetes is generally controlled with diet, weight loss exercises and morning walks of 3 to 4 kms.

3. Gestational diabetes, which occur during pregnancy. lt is temporary. People may suffer from diabetes at any age, most get it when they are over 40 years or 50 years. Also seen that children or teenagers are also affected with diabetes. Poor digestion, lack of physical activity, eating lot oftasty food gives birth to constipation. To avoid constipation, clean stomach every day. Over weight people eating excess carbohydrates in food containing sugar, lack of physical activity and exercise, excess of mental stress, sifting continuously for long hours for study work, living in unhealthy environment are some ofthe causes ofthis disease.

Othercauses of Diabetes: Taking medicines without the advice of physician and taken in excess in pregnancy (Gestational diabetes), any illness or disease which damages the pancreas and affects its ability to produce sufficient insulin.

Symptoms of Diabetes: The symptom of Type i & Type 2 Diabetes are almost the same which have been explained already which damages our vital organs. Other important symptoms are Excessive thirst, in minor open injury profuse bleeding, open injuries and wound would take long time to heal, loss ofweight, blindness, slow healing ofinfections including bladder, vaginal, skin, erectile dysfunction in men.
