CAMERATA FLAMENCO PROJECT

www.camerataf lamencoproject .com

Created as a musical Ensamble in the widest sense of the term, the CAMERATA FLAMENCO PROJECT arises as generator of original Music. Due to the heterogeneity in the musical education of their components (from the classic world to the jazz and the Flamenco) as well as their performances in a diversity of musical arenas such as Theatres, Concert Rooms, Jazz and Flamenco clubs, they shape into an inter-esting merger. Joining their different musical backgrounds into a symbiosis, they converge lines of the classical world and the jazz world into the common frame of the Flamenco.

Their first show was at the Singapore Arts Festival in the spring of 2004. Since then, Pablo Suárez (piano), José Luis López (violoncello) and Ramiro Obedman (flute, saxophone) had developed their unique musical sound touring all around the world and collaborating with most important Flamenco and Jazz artists as Carmen Linares, Rafaela Carrasco, Jorge Pardo, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Carmen Paris, Leo-nor Leal, Juan Antonio Suárez “Cano”, Tino Di Geraldo, Concha Jareño, Pablo Martín Caminero, Annette Akerlund, Avantii Orchestra and Camerata Arcangello Corelli from Malaga among many others.

IMPRESSIONS

This proposal, a Flamenco view without typical Flamenco instruments, finds a brilliant balance with the genuine brushstroke of these special guests ad lib:

Back to origins in acoustic formation. CFP releases its last work, Impressions/10 Anniversary, a double Cd/ Dvd alive where they play some French Impres-sionism Classical Music (Satie, Debussy, Ravel) with their unique sound and Flamenco approach, and some CFP originals. Presented in Madrid (Conde Duque and SUMA Flamenca 2015), Sevilla (Cajasol), Rotterdam (CODARTS), Liechtenstein, Zurich (Pikolo Festival) and Helsinki at Etnosoi Festival. The Trio, original and widely assembled after more than 10 years playing together, and the counterpoint of tradition in the figures of Flamenco artists of incredible level like Antonio Campos, Leonor Leal or Antonio Suárez “Cano”.

Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Leonor began her training when she was nine years old. She graduated with

degrees in Classical Dance and Spanish from the Professional Conservatory of Dance of Seville, and com-

pleted her studies at the University of Seville. For her flamenco training, Leonor worked with the such

renowned teachers as Manolo Marín, Pilar Ortega, Carmen Montiel, Pepa Coral and the Galván family.

And she took masterclasses with Juan Parra, Angelita Gómez, La Chiqui, Mercedes Ruiz, Andrés Peña,

Ana María López, María del Mar Moreno and Manuela Carpio. Leonor began performing as a solo dancer

in 2008, with Leoleolé, a show created for the Los Novísimos series of the Festival de Jerez. After a

residency in Corral de la Morería in Madrid, she received the outstanding dancer award in the Spanish

and Flamenco Dance Choreography competition. Leonor’s show eLe eLe received First Prize at the 15th

Born in Tarragona to Andalusian emigrants, Antonio moved to Atarfe in Granada at a young age. Without a history of flamenco in his family, he began to like it by listening to recordings and soon began playing the guitar and composing his own music. His professional career began with a song he composed for the album Granada baila por tangos, a commission by Raúl Alcover, who also sang. When Angustillas la Mona heard him, she hired him to sing at her cave in Sacromonte, where he was resident from 1988 to 2003. Since then, he has collaborated on national and international tours with such renowned bailaores as Fuensanta la Moneta, Manuel Liñán, Rafaela Carrasco, Juan Andrés Maya and Antonio Canales, among many others. He has also recorded songs for the albums Al aire de Graná, Entre ciprés y jazmín, Jóvenes con esencia flamenca and Flamenco Chill. More recently, he has performed in the show Mujeres, directed by Mario Maya and on the album Silence-Light: World Flamenco Septet by Nacho Arimany, recorded in New York, and he released his first solo album, a live recording at the Corral del Carbón in Granada.

Although Juan Antonio Suárez (‘Cano’) is a world-renowned flamenco guitarist, born

into a family of Gypsy artists, his work transcends the traditional boundaries of

flamenco and has pushed the music in new and fascinating directions. Since he was

invited by Gerardo Nuñez in 1996 to represent a new gene-ration of flamenco

guitarists on the album The New School of Flamenco Guitar, he has evolved into one

of the great flamenco artists of our time. Cano has worked as a guitarist and composer

with renowned dancers such as Merche Esmeralda, Belén Maya, Isabel Bayón, Andrés

Marín and Rafaela Carrasco, to name a few. He has also composed music for some of

the greatest flamenco artists and appears in Carlos Saura's Flamenco, Flamenco with

Rocío Molina. In 2012, he worked with singer Diana Navarro on the album Flamenco,

which received a Gold Disc in Spain and a Latin Grammy award nomination. Cano

has released three critically acclaimed albums of his own and collaborated on countless

others

“Looking for new impressions with the world of impressionism is linguistically mischievous from its very wording. But actually do it, combining wind-string-percussion or, more precisely, flute-(and sax)-cello-piano is three times as stimulant”

Juan Angel Vela del Campo, Art Director, Bienal of Flamenco of Rome

It reaches high levels of satisfaction and beauty in 'Impressions'. Liberty may be the most used concept to describe the creations of this singular

instrumental formation. To that first idea will be associating others (intimacy, exquisiteness, complicity ...)
