SERVICING IN THE FIELDSAFETY GLASS REMOVAL
Remove 6 screws holding the trim strip at the top edge ofthe safety glass. Tilt glass out and remove.
FUSE
TV: A 5 Amp. Fuse (AC Line), a i Amp. Fuse (Sweep), anda Fuse Wire (Fil.) is used for receiver protection.
Amplifier: A 3 Amp. Fuse (AC Line) is used for Amplifierprotection.
TUNER OSCILLATOR ADJUSTMENTS
The VHF Oscillator may be touched up by removing controlpanel supporting tuner.
AGC
No provision is made to vary the AGC on this receiver.
FOCUS
The focus may be varied by connecting the lead from pin 6of the picture tube to various voltage points. (For location,see "Tube Placement Chart".)
SYNC STABILITY
Sync stability may be varied by means of a Noise Gate con-trol. (For location, see "Tube Placement Chart".)
HORIZONTAL OSCILLATOR FIELD ADJUSTMENT
Coarse adjustment of the Horizontal Hold is accomplishedby the proper setting of the Horizontal Frequency (Bl). Forlocation, see "Tube Placement Chart".
WIDTH
The width may be varied by a Horiz. Size Control. (Forlocation, see "Tube Placement Chart".)
CENTERING
Centering is accomplished by 2 magnetic rings, located be-hind the yoke, on the neck of the picture tube.
PINCUSHION CORRECTION
Reduce the picture size so that the sides of the raster arevisible. Position the magnets so that all sides are straight.

TV ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONSPRE-ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
The high voltage lead should be securely taped and kept away from the chassis.Allow a 20 minute warm-up period for the receiver and test equipment.Suggested Alignment Tools: GENERAL CEMENT #9050L, 9150

VIDEO IF ALIGNMENT
Remove the yoke plug to eliminate RF interference from the horizontal sweep circuit. Connect a 1500S2 50 watt resistor from point <^>to Chassis. (CAUTION: Point <^ has B plus voltage on it.)Disable the tuner oscillator by grounding the grid (pin 2) of oscillator.Set the Noise Gate Control fully counterclockwise.Connect the synchronized sweep voltage from the sweep generator to the horizontal input of the oscilloscope for horizontal deflection.The sweep generator output lead should be terminated with its characteristic impedance, usually 50 ohms.Connect the negative lead of a 6 volt bias supply to point <^> . Positive to chassis.Maintain between 2 and 5 volts peak to peak on the scope except where otherwise noted in the procedure.

Adjust A8 to place 42. 25MC marker at 50%on curve as in Fig. 4. Adjust A9 to place45. 75MC marker at 50% on other side.Tune slugs to end of coil nearest chassis.If necessary, retouch Mixer Plate Coil tocorrect tilt. Retouch A8 and A9 for correctresponse.
SOUND IF ALIGNMENT
Tune in a strong TV signal and adjust all controls for normal picture and sound.Connect the DC probe of a VTVM to point <6> . Common to chassis. Adjust A10 for maximum deflection choosing the one of two peaksthat produce the highest voltage. While listening to the sound, retouch A10 for maximum sound with MINIMUM distortion.The top slug (All) is a preset slug which is set near the top of the coil form and left there.Change to a very weak signal (this may be done by loosely coupling the antenna lead to the antenna terminals) that produces a hiss in thesound. Adjust A12 and A13 for maximum sound and MINIMUM distortion. Adjust A14 for maximum undistorted sound. If sound is notclear at this point, repeat the above procedure as necessary.
4. SMC TRAP ALIGNMENT
Tune in a strong TV signal and turn the Contrast fully clockwise.Adjust the Fine Tuning until a strong 4. SMC beat pattern is visible.Adjust A15 to find the two points at which the beat pattern is Just noticeable on the screen. Tune the slug to the center of these two points.(Use the MINIMUM amount of inductance that will result in no apparent beat pattern.)

Remove the deflection yoke plug to prevent in terference radiation. Connect a 1500S7 50 watt nesistor f rom pin 3 to pin 5 of the Service TestReceptacle.DO NOT remove the tuner cover.Suggested Alignment Tools: A206, A207 GENERAL CEMENT #5000, 5003, 8276, 8290

VHF RF AND MIXER ALIGNMENT
Connect a clip lead from point <^> to chassis.Connect the synchronized sweep voltage from the sweep generator to the horizontal input of the oscilloscope for horizontal deflection.The generator output lead should be terminated with its characteristic impedance, usually 50 ohmsUse only enough sweep generator output to provide a usable pattern on scope.Coils not containing adjustable cores are adjusted by expanding or compressing coil turns.Preset A206 and A207 so top of screw is .35" above tuner chassis.Use IOMC sweep unless otherwise noted.

HORIZONTAL SWEEP CIRCUIT ADJUSTMENTSTurn the set on and tune in a TV station, preferably with a test pattern.Adjust the Brightness and Contrast controls for a normal picture.
Short out the AFC voltage by connecting a clip lead from pin 4 of TestReceptacle to chassis. Connect a . Imfd, 400 volt capacitor from pin 2of Test Receptacle to chassis.
Adjust Horizontal Hold to the point where the picture is almost stablehorizontally.
Remove the capacitor and adjust the Horizontal Frequency Slug (Bl) tothe point where the picture is almost stable horizontally.
Remove the clip lead from pin 4 of Test Receptacle and chassis. Adjustthe Horizontal Hold control until the picture is synchronized horizontally-

2. Disconnect VHF antenna leads.
3. Remove rear cover.
4. Unplug all necessary cables and leads.
5. Disconnect hi voltage lead, picture tube socket, and yoke plug.
6. Remove 4 chassis bolts. Remove chassis.
