ZTM Compact collating machine

Different feeders are integrated into a collating machine: types and numbers of feeders are application specific. The feeders dispense their products onto the collator on which stacks are created. These stacks are automatically conveyed to the processing machine.

Integrated special equipment

Printing systems

Complete systems offer an optimum product finishing and differentiation via „Late stage customizing“ in the last production step. Especially high quality products can be individualized and personalized by the combined product separation, transport and marking system. Diverse printing systems such as Ink-Jet-, drop-on-demand- or thermo transfer are used.

Labelling systems

As a low-cost version, different labelling systems can be placed directly onto the feeder’s exit extension and integrated into existing production lines. For sophisticated demands, an offline stand-alone system is ideal.

The Köra-Packmat high end product covers high speed labelling requirements and product handling by means of an integrated stacking device and flighted belt or shingling exit conveyor.

Product verification

Barcode scanners or camera systems monitor the product presence or verify the print quality. By the combination of a print and reading system, the print can be checked with the „Track & Trace“-system against the datafile. The system is able to read serial numbers, datamatrix-, pharmacodes etc.

The basis for all requirements

Köra-Packmat feeders are used by many global machine builders and on in-house machine platforms. As the expert in machine construction, Köra-Packmat offers a variety of transport- and collating systems. Functioning as the basis for any modules for product marking, labelling and verification, the in-house Engineering fully assembles all required components to one automated line.

Labelling of folded boxes with hologram label

This feeding and labelling unit is used to apply a hologram label onto a folded box.

The AFS-300 AdvancedFeeder separates the single folded and Feeds them onto a 2 m flighted belt conveyor.

The fed product is properly positioned onto the belt and a hologram label is is applied by a labelling module. The camera monitoring system that is installed after the labeller is checking the following parameters:

a) Availability of the label b) Proper positioning of the label

In case the label is missing or the position is incorrect, the product is exited into a rejection box.

The exit conveyor with integrated gap creation function enables the creation of a stack with selectable quantity. (e.g: 50 products per stack) and thus offers the operator friendly handling of the products.

Labelling module for phone cards

Another feeding and labelling module left our production area!

The module was built to feed phone cards in format CR80 with an AFS-250 friction feeder. In order to increase the feeders’ autonomy, the feeder was equipped with a 2 m autoloader on a floorstand.

The cards are guided on a vacuum exit extension with 1.200 mm length and are transported underneath the labelling module.

PIN and PUK of the phone card is covered with a label and afterwards controlled via a camera monitoring system.

Wrongly labelled products are automatically transported into a lockable rejection box.

On a 2 m shingling exit conveyor the products can be stacked in the requsted quantity (e.g: 50 cards) with a gap between each stack.

The food industry is an important segment for our feeders and collating systems, which gains more and more importance. Numerous projects have already been realized in the food industry:

Proper feeding is an important module towards automating. Köra-Packmat Maschinenbau GmbH, Villingendorf – THE EXPERT in feeding and collating systems for flat products met the challenge – separation of 3-D products - of Molkerei Alois Müller Milch GmbH & Co KG. In 3 lines a number of 12 yoghurts shall be charged with a pouch of sugar and cinnamon and controlled accordingly. Herefore, Köra-Packmat uses the PouchCutter PC-300 pouch dispenser. This special cutting system separates the endless pouches at a speed of up to 300 cycles/min. A servo-driven transport belt forwards the yoghurts underneath the PouchCutter PC-300. Via hot melt the pouches are fixed accurately onto the yoghurt cans in 3 rows at one time. Afterwards a camera system controls the presence and the content of the pouch.

Beverage industry

Project 1- Docking station

The task was to integrate a feeding system in form of a docking station into the existing beverage wrapping machine, where a six-pack shall be accompanied by a merchandising product. (e.g. CD, Panini picture etc.). The challenge is to feed the product between the wrapping film and the arriving six pack.

By means of a specially designed vertical and horizontal transport belt, the products are forwarded into the vertical magazine shaft of the feeder, which separates the products into the individual exit extension. Here, the products are transferred to an inserter module.

The feeding of 3-D trays for cheese, sausages, meat is handled by our PPWA Pick & Place feeder. This feeder is ideally suited for sensitive surfaces such as CDs, sachets etc.

Exact positioning of round cuttings

The LHP (new generation AFS servo) friction feeder enables the feeding of round cuttings onto cans. A product sensor recognizes the arrival of a can and generates a feeding impulse, so that the product is fed with max. accuracy onto the can.

Folding unit

This unit folds large cover sheets at a definded position and with a defined length. Afterwards the folded sheet is accurately positioned onto a carrier material (wooden panel, etc.).

Because of the size and heavy weight of the sheets, a special infeed was created to transport the sheets. From the first stack, the top sheet is always taken via pneumatic suction heads and forwarded to the feeder. The AdvancedFeeder is built with a feeding width of 500 mm to separate the large sheets but also sheets of a size of 150 mm.

Inside the feeder, the sheets are moved forward to the feeders’ exit extension, in which the folding unit is integrated. The fed product is folded at a defined position in an angle of 90°. The length of the folding edge is variable and can be adjusted via the electric control unit.

Finally the folded product is fed out of the feeder and accurately positioned onto the carrier material, which is approaching onto an external machine conveyor.

Köra-Packmat, the expert for feeding and collating systems manufactures a compact feeding and marking system for flat products. The friction feeder AF-250 AdvancedFeeder with integrated 3-S-System* is equipped with a special magazine for cartons that are higher on one side and can thus be stacked and separated systematically.

The cartons are aligned on the feeder’s exit conveyor via lateral guiding. The Inkjet Printing System, mounted on this exit conveyor marks the product with single-line information such as article number and expiry date. Other printing applications are possible.

Instead of the Inkjet Printing System, any embossing or labelling system could be integrated.

Afterwards, the products are transferred to the exit conveyor. Upon request, the products can be counted and stacked so that they can be transported directly into a wrapping or further processing machine.

Gluing and labelling unit PHARMA

Customer requirement:A small multilateral brochure, outserts and booklets available in book style or glued on one side shall be fixed together in a number of 3 pieces.

A ZTM collating line, length 5.600 mm is equipped with 3 friction feeders, model AF-250 AdvancedFeeder with a feeding width of 250 mm each. Each feeder contains a brochure in a defined language: e.g: feeder 1: German, Feeder 2: English, Feeder 3: Spanish. Each feeder separates and feeds one brochure onto the ZTM collating line, where the brochures in different languages are grouped together to one stack.

The line covers 2 different applications:

a) Fixation of 3 brochures with hot melt against each other

After a brochure has been fed out of the feeder onto the ZTM collating line, a hot melt point is applied on top of the brochure and the next brochure that is fed out of the second feeder is thus fixed against the first brochure. The same process is done with brochure no 3, so that finally 3 brochures with 3 different languages are fixed against each other..

The opera tor pane l i s the cent ra l input un i t fo r cont ro l commands

and se t t ings . The cur rent per fo rmance and data o f the opera t ing

s ta tus can be read on the d isp lay. An imminent shor tage o f mate-

r ia l i s repor ted v ia s igna l l ing l igh ts . When a mal funct ion occurs ,

the mach ine s tops a t once, the cause and p lace o f ma l funct ion

be ing d isp layed on-screen. The mach ine can be s topped and

res tar ted f rom severa l opera tor po in ts a t tached to the sys tem.
