VACANCIES FOR TWO APPRENTICEMASTERS

Applications are invited from suitably qualifiedcandidates for appointment to posts of ApprenticeMasters: (a) Composing and (6) Letterpress Ma-chine Work in the Printing Division of the Ministryof Internal Affairs, Eastern Nigeria.

Scale of salary.-—C(T) 6—£1,368, £1,422, £1,476,£1,488 for persons appointed on pensionable terms,and £1,308-54-1,524 for persons appointed oncontract. Inducement addition of £300 per annumis also payable to an overseas Officer. .

Qualifications.—Candidates_ should possess atleast a Final City and Guilds Certificate at istClass level in either Composing Practice or Letter-press Machine Work. Besides having served an

“approved apprenticeship in theletterpress printingtrade, candidates. must have had practical experienceof apprentice training with printing firms of goodstandingor arecognised technical college teachingComposing and/or Letterpress Machine Works.

. Duties—To take charge of one of the sectionsin a newly-formed Apprentice Training Workshop;to plan a programme of training which will becombined with a considerable proportion of pro-ductionwork ; to give afternoon lectures to theapprentices and journeymen and to set and marktest papers from timeto time.

Other conditions of service-—(a) The appointmentwill be on pensionable terms for Nigerian candidatesand on contract terms for others.

(6) Ficst class passages are available for officer- and wife and an amount for children’s passages uptothecost of two adult rebated .eturn fares betweenNigeria and the officer’s home country.

(c) Anoutfit allowance of £60 is payable onfirst appointment.
