A¡er sewing the upper edge of the group pleat, you get the ideal hand-sewn box pleat.

INSTRUCTION BLUES and CHANSON:When sewing the tape, please note that the upper stitching line is below the top draw-cord. The tape must be exactly leveled with the upper edge of the fabric to ensure a perfect functioning, which means that it should be sewed without heading space.

Standard sewing of the seams

Recommendations:

a) The turnover height of the doubled hem is40mm

b) The turnover height of the seam at the end of the curtain is 100 mm * 100 mm

c) The turnover height of the lining at the end of the curtain is 70 mm * 70 mm

There is no upper stitch line on the front of the curtain (blue line).

general hints for sewing curtain tapes

1) Due to the �nishing process of our tapes, BANDEX curtain tapes do not require an advance ironing and do not shrink in further use of the curtains. Nevertheless, we recommend an advanced ironing of all fabrics before sewing.

2) The tape is stitched to the fabric a¡er ironing and when all seams are prepared.

3) If you are using a tape with more than 10 - 15 mm pleat distance, the tape should be aver-aged out at the side edges of the fabric for even pleat allocation. The curtain tape is un-wound from the roll to the width of the curtain without cutting it.

The centering can be done in 2 ways:

• the center coincides with the beginning of the repeat, which also means that the re-peat of the fabric and the one of the tape have to match

• the center coincides with the center of the pleat

The centered tape with a margin for allowances is cut at both ends.

4) If the edge of the fabric is scru�y and not stable, the upper edge of the fabric should be treated with overlock. If you do not perform this step, there is a risk of pouring tissue from the seam.

5) When adjusting the tape, all lines, if possible, are laid in one direction and the threads of the base of the curtain tape should be parallel to the threads of the fabric base. Before lay-ing the stitching line, it is recommended to �x the bottom seam with pins in order to avoid displacement of the fabric under the tape. If you are not following this recommendation the pleat might fall to the side or is twisting.

6) In order to maintain a smooth side edge of the curtain, the draw cords are pulled as close as possible to the stitching line of the side board.

7) All curtain tapes with linear type of pleats (e.g. pencil or group pleats) up to 150 mm width are adjustable with two stitching lines. This rule is valid only for BANDEX tapes, as the tapes overcome a special �nishing treatment, a¡er which they do not shrink anymore and get additional adhesion to the fabric. For complicated pleats, such as smock- or creative pleats, it is necessary to have an additional third stitching line in the center of the tape.
