INTRODUCTION

The municipality of Wao with the leadership of Mayor Bobby B. Balicao,

strongly believes that children have significant contribution in the development of

the town. Because of this, the local government make it sure that this children’s

needs and rights must be provided.

The local government recognizes the vital role of education in molding our

future leaders and professionals. It enables the children to be equipped with

knowledge and skills that they can utilized in building their future. With that, the

local government, through the help of Department of Education, initiates a

scholarship grant program for the development of education of every child. This

year, there were 60 elementary pupils who belongs to less privileged individuals,

supported by the LGU financially. Also, we have 75% reported completion rate for

elementary schooling in SY 2018. There was reduction compared to 2017 but the

Department of Education ensure that they are safe second home for children in

which learning takes place and where reputation is protected.

Each child has the right to be protected and to have an assurance of safe

place and community to live in. The local government of Wao, together with

different departments, offices and organizations work hand-in-hand to ensure the

decrease in the number of abused children as well as those who are child laborers

and drug users.
