CD PRINT SPECIFICATIONS Submission of printing material 1. Final films Supplied films must be positive, right reading, emulsion down. By means of under colour reduction (UCR), overall ink coverage must not exceed 320%. The screen count is 54 lines/cm for single colour transparencies and 60 lines/cm for four-colour transparencies. All films must have a density of > 2.4. Film masking must be carried out with plate-ready, waterproof ink and be burr-free. Film masking must be carried out on the non-emulsion side. Solid areas of black must be backed with 40 - 50% of cyan. For a combination of image and line elements, trapping is necessary to compensate for register tolerance when printing. In the case of hot foil stamping, the elements to be stamped may not be left open. All necessary marking (colour identification, page numbers, trim marks, crosshair marks) must appear outside the untrimmed page format, as all marking within the trimmed page format is printed. Pages of textbooks and booklets must be supplied as final films, imposed as double pages. See specifications for imposition layouts. 2. Identification All the printed products of any one title should bear identical, alphanumerical identification in order to simplify the matching of material during the production process. 3. Proofing The following proofing material must be supplied with the films for every first run: Blueprint or photocopy with imprimatur for single colour printed products Colour proof (e.g. cromalin) with imprimatur for multi-colour printed products Processing sample (for pagination, sequence, position and form of folding) Deviations (corrections) from proofing material must be indicated on same. 4. Final run The printing process used is sheet-fed offset printing. Colour matching is effected according to standard values. Several titles make up combined formes. Colour optimization for single titles is therefore not possible. For these reasons, slight colour deviations from the proofing material can occur. 5. Surface finishing The printed paper or board is normally finished with a gloss dispersion varnish. For special finishing, please refer to the appropriate specifications. 6. Tolerances Total trimming tolerances of + 0.5 mm are essential for finishing. This should be taken into consideration for the layout and type area design. Care should also be taken that tolerances of + 0 / - 1 mm are maintained with the trimmed format of the final product. 7. Assembly The mechanical assembly and packing of printed products into a box is not possible if recycled or special papers are used. 8. Related documents For information on dimensions, maximum pagination, spine widths for slip cases and textbooks, imposition layouts, printing carriers and finishing, please refer to the appropriate specifications. outside the untrimmed page format, as all marking within the trimmed page format is printed.• Pages of textbooks and booklets must be supplied as final films, imposed as double pages. See

specifications for imposition layouts. 2. Identification

All the printed products of any one title should bear identical, alphanumerical identification in order tosimplify the matching of material during the production process.

3. Proofing

The following proofing material must be supplied with the films for every first run:• Blueprint or photocopy with imprimatur for single colour printed products• Colour proof (e.g. cromalin) with imprimatur for multi-colour printed products• Processing sample (for pagination, sequence, position and form of folding)• Deviations (corrections) from proofing material must be indicated on same.

4. Final run

The printing process used is sheet-fed offset printing. Colour matching is effected according tostandard values. Several titles make up combined formes. Colour optimization for single titles istherefore not possible. For these reasons, slight colour deviations from the proofing material can occur.

5. Surface finishing

The printed paper or board is normally finished with a gloss dispersion varnish. For special finishing, please refer to the appropriate specifications.

6. Tolerances

Total trimming tolerances of + 0.5 mm are essential for finishing. This should be taken intoconsideration for the layout and type area design. Care should also be taken that tolerances of+ 0 / - 1 mm are maintained with the trimmed format of the final product.

7. Assembly

The mechanical assembly and packing of printed products into a box is not possible if recycled orspecial papers are used.

For the production of a CUT-CD we require the following information:

The following parameters apply for the CUT-CD inaddition to our specifications for silk-screen and dryoffset label printing:

The CUT-CD is a product which does notconform to the Philips /Sony specifications(Red Book, Yellow Book). Therefore theCD logo must not appear on the label orprinted products.

Trouble-free playing of a CUT-CD cannotbe completely guaranteed. We thereforestrongly recommend the inclusion of thefollowing information:

In order to ensure trouble-free running, we recommend that the original CD diameter (C) should be preservedat a minimum of 2 or 3 peripheral points. The minimum diameter within which cutting is not allowed is 60 mm (B).

Position marks (D):Two lines with a thickness of 0.7 mm and a length of max. 10 mm must be incorporated in the black film or in thefilm of another high-contrast colour in such a way that the outermost point is positioned at the 117 mm diametermark (A) and is pointing towards the center. The positions of the lines should be outside the cut line (E) i.e. in aposition that is no longer visible on the final product.

In addition to our specifications for silk-screen and dry offset label print and the general CDpremastering specifications, the following parameters apply for the Creative Disc :®

Diameter of the metallic area (A) = approx. 78 mm. Other sizes available on request.

The print format (C) can be enlarged to a diameter of 117 mm outside the CD PRINT SPECIFICATIONS”Silk Screen Printing, Label 120 mm" or "Dry Offset Printing, Label 120 mm".

For the representation of illustrations without translucent effect, e. g. from the EURO- scale (C, M, Y, K) ornon-opaquing special colours it is necessary to print a white area in the form of the motif to be depicted. Thiscontoured area must be 0,2 mm smaller all round than the illustration, so that lighter white edges on theouter border can be avoided.

The Creative Disc , diameter (B) = 120 mm, normally consists of transparent polycarbonate (PC). ColouredPC available on request. The following colour tones are available at present: red, yellow, blue and green.Similar effects can be obtained by printing with varnishing colours.
