Preface

It gives me a deep sense of satisfaction to submit the Annual Report of

Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande Mahavidyalaya for the academic session 2020-2021. The report

reflects the expression of our sincere efforts at sustaining and enhancing quality irrespective of

nationwide Covid-19 pandemic Situation. The report provides a broad picture of the overall

programmes and activities of the institution towards fulfilling our goals in tune with our Vision and

Mission.

Most of the Students of this area are dependent on the institutes from where they perceive their

education. During much extended lockdown period the role of colleges and educational bodies the

most important and vital in keeping the education structure alive.

Although this global pandemic has created social and physical limitations, the college has taken a

big leap within a matter of weeks to cross the barrier and facilitate learning. IQAC has made a

sincere effort to integrate technology for Teaching and Learning. Irrespective of Limitations, IQAC

has planned and execute training program for Faculty and Staff, national and International

Webinars, workshops on quality indicators to keep mission alive. The output of all combined

efforts of all stakeholders of institute has been widely appreciated in the society. I acknowledge

the efforts put by faculty and all Stockholders who contributed directly or indirectly while

preparing this report.

Our Tribute

Adv. Anantraoji Apparavji Deosarkar Saheb,

Former President of our organization was a futurist

and catalyst who serve the humanity with social approach. Having born in a farmer family, Shraddhey Loknete Adv. Anantraoji Apparavji Deosarkar realized the hardships faced by the poor boys and girls in pursuing education. While pursuing his own higher education and practicing law, he has formed

"Yavatmal Zilla Akhil Kunbi Samaj Sanstha". While serving as the president of the society, he started many schools and colleges in the district with a service-oriented motif. The organization has contributed a massive share in bringing girls in the area into the mainstream of the society through

higher education. Adv. Anantraoji Apparavji Deosarkar Saheb has made incomparable contribution in various fields including law, agriculture, politics, co-operation. Even after becoming an MLA, he used his political power only for social cause. His dream of educating the rural

students materialized as the schools and colleges under YZAK society are catering the education as Gurukul that provide life education to students.

On 26 November 2020, leaving behind the earthly bonds he passed away. We salute to his service to humanity till the last breath of his life and pay tribute with the tearful eyes. We all the professors, teachers and non-teaching staff working in Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College are committed to comply his mission of quality education.

Students’Area

Academic session of the college begins on 7 August 2020. However, the classes of the college

were engaged online due to COVID pandemic. Admission procedure of the senior college as per

university rules began after the declaration of university results. The process of admission was

undertaken by the admission committee formed by the college. Total 1927 students enrolled to

Association acts to organize various programmes for the students. It also helps to facilitate

Convocation Ceremony

The college organized Convocation Ceremony as per the directives of SGBAU, Amravati.

Principal, Dr. S.R. Vadrabade and Convener Dr. M.B. Kadam organized online Convocation at

Google meet platform by observing the COVID 19 protocol. Dr. Y.M. Raut, the secretary of

Yavatmal Zilla Akhil Kunbi Sanstha, was present as the chief guest. Faculty members of all

departments were present on the occasion. The programme formally commenced by offering

tribute and lighting lamp before Sant Gadge Baba image.

Meritorious students of Science, Commerce and Arts were present to collect their degrees.

Dr. M. B. Kadam administered them the oath. Principal, Dr. S.R. Vadrabade addressed the

students and conferred the degrees to them. Dr. Y.M Raut delivered convocation address. He

highlighted the overall development of the college including its NAAC accreditation with

B++ Grade. Besides, he advised the students to grab the opportunity of education they have been

receiving from such a reputed institute. He also praised the efforts of Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor,

Dr. Murlidhar Chandekar for the initiative taken. The teaching and non-teaching staff of senior

and junior college along with the students were present at the occasion. The programme was

concluded with national anthem.

Yoga & Gym

Yoga empowers the body, mind and soul to fight the stress and everyday problems of life.

Understanding the need of Yoga. The college has started a Yoga Center in the college for

students, college staff and interested people of the town. The Yoga practice is arranged regularly

in the Center. Dr. B. M. Sawarkar teaches Yoga daily and expert trainers are invited to impart

yogic art. The special attraction of youth is the gym in the college hostel to maintain health and

fitness of students. 21 June 2021 is celebrated as International Yoga Day online on Google Meet

by The Department of Physical Education and Sport by observing the COVID-19 protocol.

All teachers, professors and non-teaching staff were present virtually for the program. The

department also organized a Workshop on „Develop your Physical and Mental Fitness: Yoga For

All‟. It is also important to note that Miss Prabodhini Deelip Paikrao has participated and achieved

15th rank at National Yoga Sports Championship -2021 at Raipur, Chhatisgarh. The Department

has also launched a Youtube channel on Yoga and Health Fitness.

Summary of Activity:

National Service Scheme of Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College organized several initiatives to

create awareness about COVID-19 with the help of volunteers in their respective villages.

Awareness programme on corona virus was conducted in the suburb villages. Various activities

such as sheltering migrants, arranging their segregation, arranging meals, marking cheap grain

vegetable shops, distribution of sanitizers and masks, arranging water for account holders in

front of banks, health care for the elderly by following all SOP of COVID -19 by maintaining social

distance.

In the COVID -19 pandemic, Snehanubandh Abhiyan was conducted by the team of National

Service Scheme of Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College to increase their morale through

communication and counseling as well as to attract them to a positive way of life. The unit went

to the adopted villages of Marsul, Belkhed and Amdari and informed about the precautionary

measures to be taken to prevent corona. Many citizens were present at this time.

National Service Scheme had conducted a blood donation camp on 28 December 2020 at

Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College jointly organized by Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club

Umarkhed. First of all, the blood donation camp was inaugurated by offering a wreath to the

statue of Rashtrasant Gadge Baba by the President of YZAKS Sanstha, Hon. Ramsaheb

Deosarkar. The program was conducted by Dr. V.S. Ingle, Program Officer, National Service

Scheme. Members of the Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club also helped the volunteers of the

National Service Scheme to carry out the blood donation camp in a good manner.

On 23rd January 2021 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

and Balasaheb Thackeray, National Service Scheme Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College

Umarkhed, Federation of Journalists Umarkhed and Nehru Yuva Kendra jointly organized a blood

donation camp at Rajasthani Bhavan Umarkhed. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by

Hon'ble Namdevrao Sasane, MLA from Umarkhed-Mahagaon constituency and Hon'ble Totawar

Saheb, Sub-Divisional Police Officer. 134 blood donors donated blood in this camp. Blood donors

tried to fulfill their responsibility as a national duty through blood donation camps.





NCC Report

NCC gives great opportunities to the college students to have career in various armed forces. The

college has a troop of 91 cadets of boys and girls in which 33% of seats are reserved for girls.

Every year 15-20 cadets pass out with C Certificate. NCC cadets participate in various social

activities like blood Donation Camp, Tree Plantation organized by The Forest Department. Health

and Fitness Awareness Programs, Voting Awareness Programs by Tahsil Office Umarkhed.

This year 04 Cadets and ANO of the College has participated and represented Amravati Group in

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Camp which was joined organized by Mumbai and Delhi Directorate

from 19 July to 24 July 2021. Every year 5-7 Cadets of NCC troop join Indian Army and Other

Armed Forces.



Annual Magazine

The annual magazine “Akanksha” is published by the institution with the objective to provide

opportunity to the students for self-expression, for artistic outlook and to develop writing skills

among them.



Library: Knowledge Resource Center

The college has modified and computerized library and learning resource centre with

the financial assistance of Dr. Henry & Mrs Suzanne Croci the bosom American friend of

Late Dr. Atmaramji Gawande, the patron of the college.

At present there are 3252 visiting members of the library. There are 31457 books, 42 Journals,

1470 reference books, 193 CDs, 54 DVDs, 206 Journals bound volumes and N-list are available in

the library. The carpet area of the library is 392.65 sq. mtr. including a reading hall of

140.95 sq. mtr. A stockroom of 191.63 sq. mtr., Reprographic section 31.62 sq. mtr.,

Internet Cabin 15.31 and a cabin of 18.12 sq. mtr. is available for the Librarian.
