PREFACE

RASSA expresses thanks to its Patron for continuous guidance and shaping it to emerge as a multidisciplinary

professional body to serve the society at large based on scientific advancements. The core group members under the

chairmanship of Dr N K Singh that perfected the vision, mission and objectives of the society was landmark work as

creator. The efforts of Dr Suman Singh, President (RASSA), and other members in composing RASSA Geet

encompassing the objectives and missions have been a great contribution. At the same time the role of Dr Nityanand

Singh in making it a legal entity and Er Pradeep Kumar Singh in developing a website to give a public face has been

worth appreciating.

2Creation of RASSA

(Step by step account)

2.1. Foundation stone of RASSA was laid in the veryfirst meeting held on April 09, 2016 at New Delhi byforty-three members who participated in the meet,expressed their strong opinion for registration of a societyor trust as multidisciplinary professional body to act asbridge between the scientific research and beneficiariesin society to ensure development at faster pace. ‘CoreGroup’ consisting of following members was constitutedunder chairmanship of Dr. Nagendra Kumar Singh todeliberate and decide the shape, vision, mission andobjectives of the organization.

2.2. The Core Group Members met on 30th April 2016and 29th May 2016 to discuss the formation of society, itsmembership, bye-laws etc. It was agreed unanimouslythat the society should be non-official, non-political andnon-sectarian. The name of the society was discussedat length and finally unanimously agreed on the “RoyalAssociation for Science-led Socio culturalAdvancement (RASSA)”. Vision, mission and objectiveof the proposed society were also finalised. It was decidedto open bank account of society in any nationalisedbank at Delhi. The First National Executive for conductingaffairs of RASSA was nominated.

2.3. Larger consultations on the subject: Meetingwas held at Varanasi on 22.05.2016 at Udai Pratap

College which is one of the pioneers and prestigiouseducational centres for the students of eastern UttarPradesh. Forty-five members participated in the meetingfavoured for a platform of like-minded intellectuals sothat there are no obstacles in the furthering the goals ofAssociation.

Members unanimously adopted the proposed vision,mission, objectives, activities and structure of proposedSociety ‘Royal Association for Science-led Socio-cultural Advancement’. All the members expressedtheir opinion that every member despite their differentviews on any particular issue should have a strongdevotion towards the purpose of the society. We shouldconserve our heritage, customs and culture and be usefulin serving the society. Group was in strong favour of anational level network of RASSA instead of local.Unanimously agreed to form an Activity Group forpreparing the course of action as per objectives/ activitiesof RASSA with following members;

The meeting was organised by Sri Alok Kumar Singh ofUP College, Varanasi and Sri Rudra Pratap Singh wasfacilitator.

Another round of meeting was held on August 21,2016 at New Delhi with an idea to update and appraisethe members about progress made so far after its firstmeeting held on April 09, 2016 and to get opinion of themembers of action plan to be taken to achieve missionand objectives of RASSA. After appraisal about progressmade so far, members gave their valuable points toachieve the mission and objectives of RASSA. RASSAalso felicitated with a memento and conveyed best wishesto our following members:

A meeting on the proposed mission was held atBakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow on October 16, 2016 with amix of gathering of 120 people in the age group rangingfrom 25 years to 80 years. This gave confidence onpurpose of creating a common platform of like-

minded intellectuals. Many suggestions came forwardfor the betterment and finally, the group decidedunanimously to select Nodal Officers for Finalising theState Executive (Vice-president, Secretary and five Jointsecretary and 10 executive members) and team leadersfor farming, education, employment, social aspects andpoints on policy-planning of Government. 2.4. Ultimate creation : An all India society in the nameof “Royal Association for Science-led Socio-culturalAdvancement (RASSA)” was registered on October24, 2016.

A group of like-minded Scientists/ Technocrats/ Businesspersons and other luminaries joined together to createthis platform attaining noble goals for overall advancementof the people in a sustainable manner, protecting naturalresources and ecosystems with vision mission, andobjectives given hereunder;

Vision

To create a strong and coherent community sensitive tothe social, cultural & educational needs to serve thesociety especially the resource-poor people by adoptingscience-led approaches.

Mission

To engage like-minded intellectuals in serving the needypeople of the society though science-led interventions.

Objectives

1. To create a platform for likeminded people for theoverall sustainable advancement of the society.

2. To promote the educational and economic well-beingof people in changing social dynamics by formulatingthe plans and creating interest for entrepreneurialactivities through skill development.

3. To mentor and provide economic support to brightyoung individuals from the unprivileged section ofthe Society.

4. To provide opportunity and help to businessprofessionals to setup and run their businesses inemerging fields.

5. To organise conferences, meet, fare, Kisan Gosthi,etc., to update the community on science-ledtechniques.

6. To publish a multi-disciplinary journal and Sandeshfor farmers.

4RASSA Procedings

4.1 Executive meeting

The 1st RASSA National Executive meeting was heldon September 25, 2016, at 28/142, West Patel Nagar,New Delhi from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Based ondiscussions, unanimous decisions taken were brieflyenumerated below:

• Enrolment of any new members of the associationshall be through introducing member who will ensurehis/ her eligibility criteria for RASSA membership.

• Following task group has been formed to smoothfunctioning of RASSA:

The 1st meeting after its registration was held on18.12.2016 at A 22 (4th Floor) Sector 3, NOIDA, UP.Following decisions were taken at the meeting-

• Details of Kisan Gosthi was presented by ShriSanjeev Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary and Memberof Kisan Gosthi Team. The tentative expenditure wasabout Rs. 25000 for 150-200 farmers. Theexpenditure was towards seed packets, banners,transportation, stands, chair, table and refreshment.Vegetable seed packets were sponsored for whicha letter was sent to the concerned organization.

• RASSA will publish a Scientific Journal ‘Science for

Society’ and an extension material ‘RajarshiSandesh’ from the year 2017. The executive editorsof Journal have already been finalised and RASSANational Executive appeals to all the members tocontribute their best work as a charity for publication.The journal and extension magazine will also besubmitted for getting RNI number for which ShriNityanand Singh has taken responsibility. Theexecutive editors for ‘Rajarshi Sandesh’ will be ShriJanardan Singh of CSKHPKV, Palampur; ShriShailesh Kumar Singh of NHRDF, Delhi and ShriRudra Pratap Singh of KVK Mau. The team willpropose the material to be published which will be abenefit to farmers and society.

o Members suggested gettinga trademark Logo andname of society. Shri Nityanand Singhtookresponsibility for getting atrademark.

o After athorough discussion on Hindi name of society,it was decided to namethe society as ‘jk;yfoKku&lsfor lkekftd&lkaLÑfrd mUu;u laLFkk*.

The 3rd meeting was held on 11.06.2017 at 28/142, WestPatel Nagar, New Delhi. After confirming the previousproceedings, following decisions were taken by theNational Executive:

- Awards: Following three types of RASSA awardswere instituted:

i. RAJARSHI SAMMAN (jktf"kZ lEeku½: Thisaward shall be given to such luminary member whohas immensely contributed for the welfare of peoplein various capacities. The award shall carry a citationand medal.

ii. MAHARSHI SAMMAN (egf"kZ lEeku½: Thisaward shall be given to such luminariy members whohave immensely contributed in their field and alsofor the welfare of people in various capacities. Thenumbers of such award may be 3-5. The award shallcarry a citation and medal.

iii. YASHSVI SAMMAN (;"kLoh lEeku½: This awardshall be given to such luminary members who haveimmensely contributed in strengthening the RASSA(by adding Royal Kisan Members, Members,RASSA event organization) and in their field ofspecialization too. The numbers of such award maybe 10-15. The award shall carry a citation andmemento.

- Corpus fund will be generated for a scholarship tostudents and medical help to needy.

- Dr Nityanand Singh, Secretary has been assignedthe job of audited report and filing of ITR by CA.

- Role and guidelines for Royal Kisan Member(RKM)

o The membership fee for RKM is Rs. 100.

o RKM shall not be having any voting rights for RASSAExecutive election, however, they have voting rightsfor RKM Executive.

- Seminar cum Foundation day will be celebratedat Lucknow on 28-29 October 2017.

The 4th meeting was held on 20.08.2017 at NewDelhi. After confirming the previous proceedings,following decisions were taken unanimously:

- The NE discussed various aspects on organising the1st National Convention-cum-Seminar at Lucknowon October 28-29, 2017. The venue for NationalConvention cum Seminar is ‘Seminar Hall, Schoolfor Environmental Sciences, Baba SahebBhimrao Ambedkar University (CentralUniversity), Lucknow’ has been finalised by theRASSA Uttar Pradesh team. NE thanks their effortfor finalizing the venue.

- NE accepted the proposal of RASSA UP for makingChandra Bhan Gupt Agriculture College,Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow as a partner inorganising the event.

4.2 General Body Meeting

i) 1st Annual General Body Meeting (GBM) washeld at New Delhi on 07.05.2017. The proceedingsof the meeting are as under:

• RASSA President Er Awadhesh Kumar Singhwelcomed all the members and briefed the purposeof Annual General Body meeting.

• RASSA family felicitated Dr Anand Kumar Singhduring the meeting for taking the charge as DeputyDirector General (Horticulture Science), ICAR NewDelhi.

• Medical help was also provided to a student of Bandathrough a contribution by individual members.

• A proposal was moved by one of our foundermembers, Sri Jai Ram Singh for the introduction of anew member with a membership fee of Rs. 100 toprovide RASSA ambassadors in different villages.The proposal was unanimously agreed in one voice.It was further decided that the term and conditionwill be finalized by the executive.

• The matter was discussed at length and house agreedto have ‘Corpus Fund Scheme’ for supporting thetalented needy students. Further, support can alsobe rendered for medical help from the scheme.Members were of opinion that RASSA memberscan donate voluntarily to the scheme as per theirwish and will. This scheme will enable RASSA toachieve its mission.

• House accepted the proposal of RASSA UP toorganise a Seminar cum Foundation Day in October2017 at Lucknow. Final dates and venue were to becommunicated by RASSA UP team later.

• A proposal for the institution of RASSA award wasmoved before the house to give their opinion. Housefelt the need of an institution of awards for themotivation of members and its visibility at large as aprofessional society. Executive will form a committeeto propose guidelines and number of awards in eachcategory. The expenditure on this account shall bemanaged by sponsors and donors.

ii) 2nd General Body meeting was conducted atBBAU, Lucknow on 29.10.2017. The GB meetingwas chaired by Er. Awadhesh Kumar Singh,President RASSA and Co-chaired by Dr Rana PratapSingh, President RASSA UP. President welcomedthe members and briefed about RASSA activities asper its set mission and vision. Dr Shiv Pratap Singhpresented the report of activities undertaken byRASSA during the year. Various milestones ofRASSA was highlighted which are,

o The need of society of like-minded intellectuals wassuggested by Dr Baldeo Singh and Dr U S Gautam.RASSA appreciated their initiation.

o RASSA name, mission, vision and objectives: Effortsof Dr N K Singh, Dr Baldeo Singh and their teamwas appreciated.

o RASSA Geet has been composed by Dr Suman Singhof Udaipur which was further re-composed byPresident RASSA. We appreciate their contributions.

o RASSA appreciate all their Founder Members whohave shown faith in society.

o Finally, society was registered on 24.10.2016.RASSA thank Dr Nityanand Singh for his effort.

• Agenda was kept for discussion and approval.Following decisions were taken during the GBmeeting,

o GB stressed need to extend activities for benefit ofpeople as per set mission in addition to professionaland training activities.

o Efforts may be speeded-up for Matrimonial activities.

o Any farmer can be included in Royal KisanMembers.

o Scope needs to be broadened for membership ofRASSA for professional activities. Modalities willbe decided by the RASSA Executive.

o The seminar will be organised every year. RASSAJammu & Kashmir has kindly accepted hosting nextseminar 2018 during November.

o Foundation day celebration shall be organisedseparately.

4.3. Publications (Flyer, Website, Journal &Rajarshi Sandesh)

o Flyer in English and Hindi was published.

o Website www.rassaindia.comwas created in 2017.

o First issue of a multi-disciplinary Journal ‘RASSAJournal of Science for Society’has been publishedin 2017.It is a multi-disciplinary academic journalwhich covers interesting and informative manuscriptfrom all the different spheres of sciences andhumanities with special emphasis on the transitionalimpact of the recent and valuable researches for thesocietal benefits.

o First and second issue of ‘Rajarshi Sandesh’ waspublished.

o The title for journal and magazine has been verifiedby RNI.

4.4 Farmers’ training

RASSA sent following farmers for their exposuretowards modern farm machines to increase farmproductivity and entrepreneurial activities for attendingthe training on ‘Improved Agricultural Implements andMachinery’ held at ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal from January22-25, 2017:

4.5 Kisan Gosthi

RASSA organised one-day Kisan Gosthi at PalirazapurVillage of Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh on 26th March2017 under sponsorship of National Horticulture Board,Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. ofIndia, Gurgaon. Dr Anjani Kumar (RASSA Foundermember) briefed the noble cause of RASSA to help theneedy farmers by bridging the gap between technologiesand farmers through the science-led approach to theparticipating farmers. In all 188 farmers from five villagesparticipated in the gosthi. He also briefed the aims of

organising Kisan Gosthi. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Aligarhand Chief Medical Officer, Aligarh were the partners ofthe Kisan Gosthi. Medical checkup of villagers was doneand medicines were also provided. Aligarh centre of TataChemicals also briefed about their activities in the districtto the farmers. Eighteen experts of panel participated inthe Kisan Gosthi including a team of medical doctors.The Kisan Gosthi was planned in such a manner that itcould address farmers’ queries on agriculture and medicalaspects. This plan worked nicely to attract womenfarmers in the programme too.

The queries including orchards’ establishment, vegetablesto be grown, plant diseases, insect-pest, type of seed,storage, government schemes, etc were addressed bythe Expert Panels. Keeping farmers’ eagerness regardingthe problems being faced in horticultural and agriculturalcrops, Expert Panels focussed their discussionaccordingly. Farmers were having keen interest to havedemonstrations on improved agricultural technologies intheir fields.

Farmers of nearby villages also participated in the Gosthi.Participation of farmers was from all sections of the

Society. Vegetable seed’s kit was given free of cost tothe participants. RASSA also encouraged the farmersto come forward for having demonstrations of newagricultural technologies at their fields. Seventeenfarmers came forward to have demonstrations ofimproved technologies on their fields.

4.6 Seminar

RASSA organised 1stNational Seminar-cum-Conventionat Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknowfrom October 28-29, 2017. The main focus of Seminarwas on Doubling Farmers’ Income and farm profitabilityby 2022’. Following sub-themes of the seminar werediscussed by presenting papers/discussions withpolicymakers, scientists, industries and farmers:

• Designing crop management practices to improvefactor productivity, enhancing farm income andprofitability

• Diversification to high-value agriculture includinghorticulture fisheries, Animal husbandry, beekeeping,mushroom and other allied etc

• Conservation agriculture

• Technological applications for rainfed and drylandagriculture

• Organic farming

• Value addition

• Secondary agriculture for increasing farmers’ income

• Climate-smart system

• Reducing cost of cultivation

• Reduction in post-harvest losses

• Role of ICT

• Agricultural extension and role of KVKs

• Role of private agencies and corporate sectors

• Policy issues

The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. Kirti Singh,Former ASRB, Chairman, ICAR, New Delhi. ErAwadhesh Kumar Singh, President RASSA, Dr RanaPratap Singh, President RASSA Uttar Pradesh and DrJyotslendra Singh, Convener of Seminar also shared theDias. The Chief Guest of the Seminar was Hon’ble

Minister of Agriculture Sri Surya Pratap Shahi Ji.President RASSA UP welcomed the Chief Guest,dignitaries, participants, press-media and farmers.RASSA President briefed about vision and mission ofRASSA. President RASSA in the deliberation alsopresented a model for the development of society on thefoundations of self-respect, equality and partnership forspecialization of a goal of clean, healthy, educated,fearless and competent society. While inaugurating theseminar the Chief Guest presented the brief scenario ofagriculture in the state and stressed the need to populariseorganic farming among farmers for quality produce.Chairman of the session highlighted the status of theprevailing agricultural system.

The keynote address was also chaired by Prof Kirti Singh,Former ASRB, Chairman, ICAR, New Delhi. Dr S KMalhotra, Commissioner Agriculture, Govt. of India andProf Nagendra Kumar Singh, National Professor & BPPaul Chair delivered keynote addresses on Approachesin Transition for Doubling Farmers’ Income and Role ofadvance Biotechnologies for enhancing FarmProductivity, respectively.

An interaction session of farmers with scientists andindustry people was also organised. The session waschaired by Dr U S Gautam, Director, ICAR-ATARI,Kanpur. Farmers were educated to enhance their farm’sproductivity and profitability.

Technical session was chaired by Dr Narendra PratapSingh, Director, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati and co-chairedby Dr Brajesh Singh, Head, Division of Crop Physiology,Biochemistry and Post-Harvest Technology, CPRI,Shimla. Dr Rudra Pratap Singh, SMS (Plant Protection),NDUAT-KVK, Azamgarh served as rapporteur of thesessions. Crop management practices, high-valueagriculture, conservation agriculture and reduction inpost-harvest losses were the themes of respectivetechnical sessions. Scientists of diversified fields fromdifferent institutions/universities including CSK HPKV,Palampur (HP), G B P U A&T, Pantnagar (UK), IARI,New Delhi, IISR and IIPR, Kanpur, College of DairyTechnology, Warud (Pusad), Nagpur (Maharashtra),

ISAP, Bangalore (Karnataka), KVKs (Azamgarh, Sitapur,Burhanpur and Raebareli)etc orally presented theirresearch papers. More than fourteen research paperswere presented by different delegates. Some of thespeakers were conferred with the Best Oral PresentationAward. These technical sessions were coordinated byDr Janardan Singh, Professor (Agronomy), CSKHimachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur(HP).

The plenary session was chaired by Prof NagendraKumar Singh. Awards have been given to followings inposter and oral sessions.

1. Need to develop a framework where all relatedagencies come together to work in harmony foravailability of quality agri-inputs including seeds,fertilizers, pesticides etc timely at an affordable atcost at the nearest distance to farmer’s place.

2. Need to promote diversification of the present cropcentric agriculture to include horticulture, dairy,poultry, fisheries, animal husbandry, affordable farmmechanization through custom hiring, value additionby post-harvest processing near farm clusters,storage facilities and good market linkages forenhancing farm income.

7. Need to build the confidence of farmers by involvingextension machinery and intellectuals from local areathat agriculture can be a fruitful business throughsuitable Government schemes.

8. Agriculture education needs to be strengthened atschool level nationally to produce competent humanresource for research, communication andentrepreneurship in agriculture. At present schoollevel education in agriculture is available in UttarPradesh Board.

9. Need to educate the farmers about ‘Pradhan MantriPhasal Bima Yojna’ for its utilization to reduce therisk of crop failure.

4.7. Foundation day

President RASSA. Dr Rana Pratap Singh StatePresident, Dr Jytosnendra Singh Convener of Seminarand Dr Shiv Pratap Singh shared the dais. After lightingthe lampby Chief Guest and members of the dais, atribute was paid to Dr Bhimrao Ambadekar. The programwas anchored by Dr Rajesh Kumar Singh. State Presidentwelcomed the Chief Guest and members. He brieflydescribed the RASSA and purpose of the meeting. Abook titled ‘Jo Dekha Maine’ written by our RASSAPresident was released by the Chief Guest. Chief Guesthonoured the recipients of various award instituted byRASSA. In his presidential address, the President(RASSA) put his thought on RASSA as to what isRASSA, its aim and activities. This has found place inthis publication as ‘v/;{kh; mn~xkj’. The Chief Guestappreciated the efforts of intellectuals to create suchplatform for helping people through science. Convenerof National Seminar presented vote of thanks to Chief

Guest, all participants and teams for working day andnight for the success of the program.

RASSA honoured Miss Diksha Singh on her selection inIndian Engineering Service just after her graduation inElectrical and Electronics Engineering from KrishnaInstitute of Engineering and Technology. She was bornin village Barwaripur, district Sultanpur of UP and studiedin rural areas. RASSA also honoured Miss Nirupma Singhfor her outstanding achievement in graduation (B. ScAg) studies at Narendra Dev University of Agriculture& Technology, Kumarganj in this year. She is also therecipient of Chancellor Medal. She was born in villagePallia district Mau of UP. She was also having anoutstanding record at school and +2 level. Presently sheis pursuingMaster’s programme in Genetics and Breedingfrom the same university. RASSA wishes for their brightfuture.

Dr Kirti Singh

Dr Singh was born in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh on 26 May1934. He educated atCentral Hindu School,Varanasi 1948-50;Govt. Agri. College,Kanpur 1951-55;University of Florida,USA 1958-62; B.Sc.1955; M.S. 1960;Ph.D. 1962.Chairman,World Noni Research Foundation, 2006 to date.

He started his career from Scientists Pool Officer inYear 1962-63 and rose to Vice-Chancellors (at NarendraDeva Univ. of Agri & Tech, Faizabad 1984-89; HimachalPradesh Agri. Univ. Palampur 1989-93 and Indira GandhiAgri. Univ, Raipur 1993-95). He was Member, 1995-98and Chairman, 1998-99, Agri. Sci. Recruitment Board,Pusa New Delhi; Advisor, Govt. of Nepal forEstablishment of Agri. Univ, 1995; FAO Consultant inCambodia 1999. His research areas are Vegetablescience and Noni science.

5.2. Maharshi Samman

5.2.1. Prof Nagendra Kumar Singh

Dr Singh was born in Rajapur, Mau, U.P. on 15 October1958. He educated atPrimary Pathshala,Tilasawan, 1964-68;Junior High School,Jahanaganj 1969-71;Wesley HigherSecondary School,Azamgarh, 1971-75;Banaras HinduUniversity, Varanasi, 1975-80; University of Adelaide,Australia 1981-85; B.Sc. 1978, M.Sc. 1980, Ph.D. 1985.Post-doctoral fellow, CSIRO Division of Plant Industryand University of Adelaide, Australia 1986-91.

He started has career from Scientist C, Central FoodTechnological Research Institute, Mysore, 1991-94 toNational Professor B.P. Pal Chair in Genetics and PlantBreeding, National Research Centre on PlantBiotechnology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute,New Delhi, 2010 to date. His research areas are PlantGenomics, Genetic Engineering and Molecular Breedingin rice, wheat, pigeonpea and chickpea Rhizobium.

5.2.2. Prof Sita Ram Singh

Dr Singh was born in village Lahasani, District Ballia,Uttar Pradesh on July1, 1942. After gettinghis education up tointermediate in therural areas, hegraduated ina g r i c u l t u r a lengineering from theUniversity of Allahabad in 1962. Thereafter he earnedhis M. Tech. Agri. Engineering (Soil & WaterConservation Engineering) and Ph. D. from I. I. T.Kharagpur and P. A. U. Ludhiana, in 1965 and 1974,respectively.

His research is on different aspects of land and watermanagement including (i) the finite element modeling ofrunoff and soil erosion from agricultural lands,(ii)analytical, finite difference and finite element modelingof water, heat and solute transport in unsaturated andsaturated geological formations, and (iii) development ofmodels for estimating water retention characteristic, andsaturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivities fromthe particle size distribution and bulk density data ofgranular materials.

5.2.3. Dr Ramendra Singh

Dr Singh, a Soil Scientist, has four decades experiencein Natural Resource Management (NRM). Dr Singhpossesses a singular academic record and career ofleadership in research, technology development,education and policy planning towards sustainable food

security and povertyalleviation and in eachpursuit in national,continental, globalcapacities. Dr Singhhas made valuablecontributions to thescience-led transformation of agriculture towardscomprehensive livelihood security in India and manydeveloping countries especially through his efforts inWorld Bank Project in Brazil and through NORAGRIC-Norwegian Agriculture University in Zambia. Dr Singhhas immensely contributed to conceptualization anddevelopment of value-added fertilisers includingcustomised fertilisers while consulting CargillInternational, Tata Chemicals and CoromandelInternational.

5.2.4. Prof Tej Bahadur Singh

Dr Singh was born in a rural family of Amethi, Sultanpurdistrict, Uttar Pradesh on May 20, 1945. After completinghis early educationfrom Sultanpur, hejoined GBPUAT,Pantnagar for B.Sc.(Hons) Ag & AH, M.Sc. (Ag) and Ph. D(Plant Breeding)degree.

He served Pantnagar University in various teaching/research positions as Assistant Professor, AssociateProfessor, Associate Director (CRC), Professor, andHead Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding fromthe year 1971 to the Year 2005. Later he served asDirector of Research at NDUAT, Kumarganj, UP to theYear 2007. He also worked in seed industry as NationalCo-ordinator in Krishidhan Seeds (2007-08) and Advisor(R&D) with J K Agri Genetics (2008-10).

5.2.5. Prof Shailendra Singh

Dr Singh native of Azamgarh District was born inSultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on 11 theApril 1959.He completed his High school & Intermediate level

education in SultanpurDistrict and then graduatedin the year 1979 fromUniversity of Allahabad. HisPost Graduation is also fromUniversity of Allahabad intheyear 1981 and Ph.D in1987 from IIT, Kanpur.

He joined as an Associate Professor in 1998 in HumanResource Management division at IIM Lucknow.Presently he is Director, IIM, Ranchi at Ranchi.Duringthis period, he worked on Emotional Intelligence, High-Performance Organizations and OrganizationalCitizenship Behaviour. Dr Singh has published more than70 research papers.

5.3. Yashasvi Samman

5.3.1. Dr Janardan Singh

He obtained his B.Sc. (Agric.) and M.Sc. (Agronomy)from N D University of Agriculture and Technology,Kumarganj, Faizabadand Ph.D (Agronomy)from CSK HPKV,Palampur.

Dr Singh is working asProfessor in theDepartment ofAgronomy, Forages and Grassland Management, Collegeof Agriculture, CSK Himachal Pradesh KrishiVishvavidyalaya, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Prior tothis, Dr. Singh served as Principal Scientist,HighlandAgriculture Research and Extension Centre, Kukumseri,Lahaul & Spiti, Himachal Pradesh (2010-2014), SeniorScientist & Principal Scientist, Directorate of ExtensionEducation, CSK HPKV, Palampur (1998-2006 & 2008-2010), Scientist, Potash Research Institute of India(PRII), Gurgaon, Haryana (1992-1995), AssistantAgronomist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamand,Mandi(1995-1998) and Oilseed Research Sub-station,Kangra, HP (1992). He also served as AssociateProfessor (Agronomy) at Hamelmalo Agriculture College,Keren, North East Africa from 2006 to 2008.

He was born in Azamgarh, UP on 15 March 1972. Hedid his B.Sc. Ag. from T.D., Collage, Jaunpur,(Purwanchal Univ.Jaunpur) and M.Sc.Ag., Ph.D.inH o r t i c u l t u r e -Vegetable Science,and B.Ed. in Sciencefrom RBS, Collage,Agra (Agra Univ.Agra) Uttar Pradesh. Dr Singh is presently working asPrincipal Scientist, Horticulture-Vegetable Science atICAR-IARI, New Delhi. He has served as SMS (Hort.Sci.) in KVK, Lohaghat, Champawat under PantnagarAg. University, Uttarakhand. His major researchcontributions have been in the area of ProtectedCultivation cum Hi-tech-Horticulture.

5.3.3. Dr Bhom Singh Deora

Dr Deora, presently working as Professor & Head(SWC Engg.) at Sardarkrushinagar DantiwadaA g r i c u l t u r a lUniversity, S.K.Nagar, Gujarat startedhis professional careeras the sole facultywith a pivotal role inestablishment anddevelopment of the newly started College of Agril. Engg.& Tech., Gujarat Agricultural University, Junagadh(1984). He was also the pioneer faculty for the infantDeptt. of Agril. Engg.and architect for the World Bankaided ‘Integrated Watershed Development Project atGAU, S.K. Nagar (1990-95).During 1995-97, he was asthe Deputy Director of Agriculture (Engg.), Actg. Dy.Director of Agril. (Soils) and Actg. Joint Director of Agri.(Engg.) at the Directorate of Agriculture (Governmentof Gujarat.

5.3.4.Dr Ajeet Singh

Dr Singh native of Gazipur District (U.P.) was born inGonda District of Uttar Pradesh on 1stMarch1969. He

completed his Highschool & Intermediatelevel education inGonda District andthen graduated inAgriculture (1988) &Post Graduate inHorticulture- Vegetable Science (1991) from N.D.Univesity of Agriculture & Technology, KumarganjFaizabad (U.P.). He did his Ph.D. in Horticulture fromRajendra Agriculture University, Pusa Samastipur (Bihar)Campus at Sabour, Bhagalpur in 1995.

He served in different private companies under variouscapacities period from 1996-2000. In 2001 he joined asProducer of ETV-Annadata programme for Bihar-Jharkhand State at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad and lateron became Coordinator of all the Hindi Channel i.e. M.P.,U.P., C.G. & Jharkhand & served upto 2009.In 2010joined as Programme Coordinator later on Sr. Scientist& Head in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Burhanpur MadhyaPradesh and serving the same till date.

5.3.5. Dr Pankaj

Dr Pankaj native of Chapra District (Bihar) was born inKolkata (West Bengal) on 06th June 1966. He completedhis High school &Intermediate leveleducation in Delhi andthen graduated in1986 from Institute ofAgricultural Sciences,BHU, Varanasi, PostGraduate in 1989 andPh.D in 1992 from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.

He joined as Scientist for a period of 6 months in PlantQuarantine division, ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi in theyear 1993-94. Presently he is Principal Scientist atDivision of Nematology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi-110012.His research area is on Management of rice root-knotnematode under rice-wheat cropping system.

5.3.6. Dr Rashmi Singh

Dr. (Mrs) Singh native of village Lelhaura, DistrictHaidergarh (U.P.) was born in Kanpur, U.P. on June 8th,1967. She completed her High school & Intermediate

level education from KendriyaVidyalaya, New Delhi and thengraduated in 1987 (year) from DelhiUniversity, Post Graduate in 1990(year) from Meerut University andPh.D in 2005 (year) from Dr B RAmbedkar University, Agra (U.P.).

She joined as an ARS scientist onApril 15th, 1991 and joined Divisionof Agricultural Extension, IARI at New Delhi in the year1995 briefly serving CSWCRTI, Kota, Rajasthan from1991 to 1995. Presently she is Principal Scientist at IARI,New Delhi.

5.3.7. Dr Alok Kumar Singh

Dr Singh native of Varanasi District (U.P.) was born inDenge your District of Varanasi on 01 July 1970. Hecompleted his Highschool & Intermediatelevel education inLucknow District andthen graduated in1991 (year) fromV.B.S. PurvanchalUniversity, Jaunpur, Post Graduate in 1994 (year) fromG.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology,Pantnagar and Ph.D in 1998 (year) from GBPUA&T,Pantnagar.

He joined as Assistant Professorin Plant Pathologydivision at Udai Pratap College (Autonomous), Varanasiin the year 2001. Presently he is Associate Professor &Head at Udai Pratap College, Varanasi.

5.3.8. Dr Brijesh Singh

Dr Singh was born inv i l l a g ePachputttijagtapur( K o l a n h a r g a o n ) ,district –Gonda, UttarPradesh on January09, 1967. He completed his High School and intermediateeducation from GVIC Nawabganj, Gonda in the year1981 and 1983, respectively. He did his graduation in

agriculture, Post graduation in Animal science and Ph.D.in Animal Science (Animal Breeding) from NarendraDeva University of Agriculture and Technology,Kumarganj Faizabad (UP) in the year 1986, 1989 and1995 respectively.

After completing his Ph.D. degree he joined as JuniorResearch Office (Junior Poultry Geneticists) in the year1995 in the Department of Animal Science, GBPUATPantnagar, and presently working as Professor, PoultryGeneticists from theYear 2010.
